Tried all your tips! The wood toothpick did the trick. What a difference, the cable went in much further and had the little tick. I could feel some softness in the port, probably sawdust. Saved me from sending it in for repair. Thank you so much.
Glad it helped!
I was having problems charging my Huawei P20 Pro. The charger was not going in fully. I watched this video. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much! I used a toothpick to clear out the port which I'd never done in over 18 months. I could not believe the lumps of dust that came out (actually, I should have known). Now it's clear of dust and the phone is now charging as if new. Thanks again. 10/10.
Glad it helped
My god! I have had my phone for like 2 years now. For about 1 year i have struggle with the charging thinking it was poor quality cable that made it charge so bad and made the c connector laggy. 10 new chargingcables and this clip appear random when i was looking on yt and now all my cargingcables work perfectly and no laggy c connector anymore... Just a quick roting with a toothpick and it was like new. Jesus christ! Thank you so much!❤

You better be right, cause im having same problems.
...hence, im here 😢
Cheers for the video, I was about to buy a replacement charge port and pull my phone apart when I saw your suggestions, the cocktail stick worked a treat!
No problem 👍
The toothbrush, alcohol spray, and plastic wire you can get from groceries worked! I cleaned my port and end of charger and it's charging again! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Jasmine Smith Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
Thanks!!! The toothbrush in my opinion is the biggest help. You are a life saver!
Happy to help!
The toothbrush tip did the job, I'm so glad my USB C port is working again, thanks so much!
Glad it helped see it is good to brush regularly even if it isn't your teeth 😀
Is it safe seems like the contacts are small
Just be careful
@@mikesunboxing Ok thanks - is it ok with just the phone switched off or do you think No would need to drain the battery.
@@markshirley01 as long as you are using non conductive items to clean with i would say that you just need to turn the device off.
Thank's from Canada! Couldn't believe the crud I removed, Cheers!

The trick of using a tooth brush is really useful. Thank you for this information.
Glad to hear it
Buddy, cured my ills.
Much appreciated.
Quality content and presentation 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oct 8 2020 - Thank you.
I had tried canned air and a thin poking item. Still had no success and could see no debris. So I came here, watched your video. I used your toothbrush and a bit of rubbing alcohol. I gently scrubbed and scrubbed and now I'm getting a charge. There must have been that grime on the contacts that you spoke of. Couldn't see it...but now I know the grime was there. Cheers! 🤓
simpliRV Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
Thank you very much!! i started with the zip tie and wiggle it and took out a lot of junk from the port.now the port is working great. Thanks again
Glad it worked for you
On the point of giving up with my Lenovo laptop, which has a USB C type power charger port. We thought for sure that we were going to need an expensive repair, after getting the back off the laptop and seeing that the port was soldered to the board. Tried with a plastic toothpick as a last resort - wish I'd done this first. I didn't even see any fluff or anything come out, but it clearly cleaned enough to allow contact again. Thanks so much for your video.

I had no clue. I thought my USB C was broken. Cleaned it out and it works like a charm! Great video.

Tried to charge my pixel 3 and it wouldn't charge, after watching this video I tried the toothbrush trick and it worked like a charm! Thank you so much!
glad it helped
Dude you're a life saver - used a plastic zip tie and now my phone charges on a usb-c connection again! Thanks man! Another $1000 I don't have to pay for a new phone!
Glad we could help
@@mikesunboxing sadly that didn't last more than a few minutes. I had to change the USB-C cable to another brand since it seems like there's something wrong with Google's USB-C cable that prevents it from negotiating the rapid charging requirements
He saved me at least 150 UK pounds to get my tablet type c replaced on my tablet its got a bonded screen on it so they always charge more because it takes more time. Glad it saved you money also. 🇬🇧 👍

Thanks my struggle just ended right.away after watching these video 👍
Glad I could help
Thanks, this worked on my S9. It was just a tiny bit of lint on one side that kept it from full connecting. A zip tie cut at and angle to create a fine point worked best.
Good work my friend
Thank you! It was of great help.
Love from India!
Hope you're doing well these days
Thanks and you too
So I'd poked at the port half heartedly before but after watching this video I really went for it. Also it didn't charge at all so I had less to lose. If you give it a really good working over you'll be surprised how much goo comes out of it. Works fine now. Thumbs up.

Excellent presentation and exceptionally clear and concise guidance.
Many Thanks.
Thank you very much
Thanks for the video. For 6 months my partner has been wirelessly charing his phone as the port was "broken". I used a toothbrush, toothpick and interdental brush and now it's charging perfectly and that very satisfying click when you plug the charger in. Saved us paying to get it replaced. Thanks 😊
glad it helped
amazing! managed to improve charging on my Pixel2 considerably. cheers!
Glad it helped
Tooth pick worked amazing. Turns out my USB C cord was also damaged. Good thing there was an extra one. Thank you so much.

I used a little lens cleaner on a toothpick and it worked like a charm! Thank you!
Great tip!
Outstanding work! My charger was getting harder and harder to push into the socket until it would just fall out of its own accord. Now it clicks in fully after I removed way more pocket fluff than I expected. Thank you for your very practical advice.

nice one! glad to hear a positive outcome
Yo man, thanks for this tip. The old toothbrush option worked perfectly for me. I should have done this a while ago. Thanks man! Have a good day!
Glad it helped! the toothbrush trick is the best it really is
Thanks for saving me the deductible on my pixel 4! The brush/air duster worked like a charm!

i took a piece of hard plastic and cut it to a point and used that as my digging tool. in case someone doesnt have a zip tie this worked great and it was safe and it dulled but didnt splinter like the toothpick might have. great video

@@mikesunboxing will do!!
Your my savior! Used a toothpick to get rid of the fluff inside of it and it worked, now I can hear that satisfying click sound when the charger and my phone get connected, but just one advice, I recommend using scissors to make the toothpick even thinner so you can scratch even deeper without touching the middle.
Very good idea
Thanks Mike! Loads of good tips - it helped my phone charge again. Diolch!
Glad it helped! bora da
Toothbrush was a great tip!
I used a toothbrush and a needle and now my ports good as new!
Happy days
cable tie worked for me used a hair dryer on cool to blast the port.great tips you. really got to keep at it to get the stubborn stuff out.thanks
good work there
Thank you! Spent like 2hrs trying to charge and get my phone back on. Then I watched this vid and used an old toothbrush and now it works!

Just goes to show perseverance pays off. I was getting tired of all those clean the usb port if it's loose videos. Then in a last ditch effort I used a toothbrush like you said and cleaned it with lots of lens cleaning fluid. And it worked!!!! The was no lint but maybe the port had a bit of invisible build up on it.
Thanks for sharing - glad you got it sorted out :-)
Yours is the first video comment I've seen that noted NO LINT but invisible build up perhaps and eventually fluid & brush fixed it. Did it go all the way in to click? I cannot get to that click ... but it does charge again.
thank you for your wonderful video and your time
Thanks for watching and the kind words
My Oneplus is happy with this! Edit: I also used this trick on the cable itself, since it was also very dirty.
Mine just stopped charging idk what happened can u help me
I thought that just bc I couldn't see any dirt and I tried the needle trick, that it couldn't have been debris.
Took a chance and watched this video and the old toothbrush worked. Thank you.
Glad to hear it
Great video thanks for sharing. I found using a screenwipe over the cable tie was very effective at cleaning corrosion off of the contacts on either side of the USB C connector inside the port. This fixed the problem for me 👍😁😁😁
good call, i'll try that one
That's clever gonna try that. Ive been poking and prodding at mine for an hour to no luck now im going to go to the store just for tooth picks and screen cleaner
The zip-tie method actually worked -- I couldn't see the lint or dust, or whatever was in there but the "USB Power notification" has gone away. USB-C Port Fixed! Thank you.
Glad it worked for you

Been wrestling with my charger for ages now. Knew it was my port because all the chargers worked with my wife's devices. Finally had it and watched this. I tried the toothpick before but you showed I could be more 'forceful' than i initially was. I had gotten some dust out small particles but when I did the dried rubbing alcohol I got a small lint ball out and now it's working like a charm
I used toothpick. I broke it and got thin part to use. And it worked, thanks mate.
Glad it helped
Thank you so much! I used a plastic toothpick, the one which comes with a floss. My phone is fast charging again!!! The cable still doesn't fit snugly to the port though so the wire has to be lifted while charging (seems there have been a lot of complaints about the Nokia5.1 plus charging port) but this vid helped a lot! Thank you!
thanks Micah, welcome to the channel
Hey Mike.. Loads of love from India
I was planning to change my phone and used to get irritated but after watching your video it worked and I just had to use the Toothbrush therapy.
Thanks a lot Mike
Love you guys in India how are you keeping during lockdown
Thank you so much mate
Wow. Your really helped me. Thank you very much 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thank you! Your tips worked great. I used some contact cleaner (Deoxit) on a toothpick. Thank you for sharing.
i need to get some deoxit
Ty for that!
I had some tissue paper stuck that was not allowing the charging cable to make proper contact. I used some alcohol to moisten the tissue paper and make it soft, then I pulled it out after rubbing enough times using lock-pick hook. The cheat buggers were charging me from replacement of Charging port to the whole assembly including mic/vibrator etc. Apparently all it needed was simple cleaning which I realized thanks to your video :) . Thanks a lot, please continue this work.

Worked for me. Thanks
Good to hear
Thank you. I had no idea that much junk was in there. It just randomly started not holding onto the cable. Now it's nice and solid again.
Glad we could help :-)
@@mikesunboxing I was honestly about to buy a new phone because of it. It would sit charging on the night stand and I'd wake up with the cord on the floor. I was amazed what I dug out. I could feel it with the credit card tool like you used and actually took a bit of work to clean it all out. Now it's nice and tight again and takes some effort to remove the charge cord. Again many thanks. You saved me nearly $1k on an upgrade.y old Pixel 3xl is still a great phone.

Thanks for the tips! Worked really well. Another video I watched recommended using a needle but I think your way is less likely to damage the phone. I didn't have the cleaner so I used 70% rubbing alcohol. Also had these plastic toothpicks called Doctor's Brushpick that were amazing for this. The wood ones splinter too quickly. I turned my phone off so instead of turning it on every time to test, I kept working on it until the usb cable fit well without a wobble. It took like 30 minutes for me. Guess I really packed that dirt in, so don't give up people if it doesn't work right away!
Glad it helped - and yes, that dirt gets very compacted inside there sometimes!
Thank you so much the tooth brush worked for mine 😃

the best!!! I got all my info in my phone and it stopped charging just now. and now it's fixed after watching your video!!! SuBSCRIBEd!
Thank you 🙏
I'm so glad I found this video 👏👍 one thing I would say is though to just be careful when cleaning on the middle of the type-c port not to move the connectors especially on the ends of the middle part. I was so sad when my 40W charging stopped working, I almost reluctantly got a new phone
Great point! And thanks for watching :-)
The toothbrush did it for me! Pixel 3a would only charge when off...which was weird. I had tried the toothpick and saw some debris, but the toothbrush was the thing that worked best! Thank you.
Greg Dilley Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
I had to break out a tiny safety pin. I think the toothpick/cocktail stick dislodged a pin, so be careful of that. Not a problem for me at the moment thankfully. Also, using a head lamp, like for camping, is really useful to see down inside. But yeah, solved my problem when I was losing hope! Thanks for the vid!
Good tip! safety pin is a good one
The toothbrush did it! Mac Air saved. Thanks Mike.
Awesome glad it worked out for you

this video was a life saver. i heard my usb cord click into my phones usb c port for the first time in months. using cleaning solution for cleaning glasses also does the trick. if the toothpick is too big just bite down on the edges to flatten it then spray it. using a twist tie commonly found on bread also works to help break down the lint and i used a small brush for cleaning a hair clipper was a big help. dont forget to spray out the dust after every toothpick and brush that goes inside. took about 30 minutes but i got every single piece of lint out.

Hi Mike, I CANT EXPRESS HOW MUCH IM THANKFUL TO U,-- BECAUSE OF UR VIDEO I GOT MY IPAD BACK TO LIFE.
I had a very similar and a bad experience with my 14 month old ipad pro. My ipad wont charge beyond 1%, strange as it sounds. Was devastated when the guys at apple service center told that its an hardware issue(defective USB C port), and that ipads cannot be repaired and only replaced which would cost me ~ 600$. Was utterly disappointed as the ipad was just 2 months beyond its warranty cover and as many of us, had not opted for the apple care+. Desperate to find solutions, i spent days on doing research on internet and youtube and tried every possible tips and tricks, with no success. UNTIL I CAME ACROSS UR VIDEO. I'm sure the problem with my usb c port was not the dust accumulated, cuz i had tried all those tricks multiple times and had no effect. The trick that made the difference was- with the Cable ties / zip ties. I checked plugging the ipad after each trick and ipad wouldnt charge but after this step, it magically was. and now ipad is back to life. 100% charged. I could save all my important datas. All thanks to ur video without which I would have never THOUGHT OF OR TRIED this step with the cable ties. I dont know what in that step that was different or made the trick, but I m grateful and glad that it DID. Now ipad charges seemlessly as before. God bless u Mike. keep making such videos which do really help people in real need and a hope. THANKS A TON.
P.S - I have already subscribed and shared this video links with my other friends for them to share. ;-)
I'm glad it helped and thanks for sharing! Also, welcome to the Channel!
Thank you Mike! I had an energy gel leak into my pocket with my phone while out on a run yesterday. I think it dried up on the inside of the port and stopped it charging, but I used your toothbrush tip and its working again. Really pleased as I thought i was going to have to pay loads to get it fixed. :) :)
Glad it helped!

We like many others are just wheels in the system and we also get screwed by Amazon daily but also have some benefits, that is the trade off as it is with most things in life, there are many things that go on behind the scenes at all businesses and governments, but do we have a choice in that?
You are here on UA-cam and there are aspects of their dominance that may not be favourable but yet here we both are. Taking the rough and the smooth.
Basically unless you live in a cave with no electric you are probably actively supporting a company or product that in some part of the production is screwing someone else.
Great tips - I've got some of those plastic "harp" style toothpicks which have a really good profile (and flexibility) to get in there and dig out the fluff.. given they spend so much time in our pockets it's no real surprise that stuff finds its way in there...
