Thank you! I bought a charging port from Amazon and the tools. It took a little bit of work, but the phone charges fine now! I'm hella happy. The fix is super easy guys, just be careful placing the board in. There's some notches on each side that secure it in place. I couldn't fit mine perfectly inside so I just clipped off one of the notches and did everything else in the video.

It seems to be like Samsung chargers don't work on Motorola phones, and vice versa, which leads me to believe that their ports have different wirings as well. It's so annoying that these companies will rely on these cheap parts for this, I want a new company to appear in the market and take their sales away.

Sad thing was that my phone stopped charging properly after a while. Bought another one and replaced the board AGAIN. This time I used a magnetic charger to avoid damaging my phone further... 8 months later the magnetic charge stopped working. So, it might just be a poor board in general. I bought a new phone since then and I'm just waiting for another problem to happen it seems like. :(

This video is really helpful. I was checking videos on how to replace charging port in a smartphone and realised it's beyond me because it involves unsoldering the old one and soldering in a new one. But replacing the whole board especially as it's so inexpensive is something we can do at home provided we are extremely careful in removing all those connection without breaking them or losing any screws. Thank you for uploading such a helpful video. I'll come back to this one if ever I have this problem to solve.
I use my phone to clock in and clock out at work and was very upset when my phone lost all of its battery life and would not charge I watched this video and I was thinking something as simple as a toothpick would not fix my phone but I tried it anyway and to my surprise it actually did work. I've had my s4 since 2013 and it literally still works great on everything that it can still do. While Apple targeted his elite customers with their iphone samsung on the contrary has played the main role in my opinion for democraticizing smartphone with android. I always choose Samsung phones in priority when i decide to buy a smartphone but they price too much now even though they're still reliable with no major bugs or weak components.

It's a guitar pick! U can get them often for FREE at guitar places. I get them from McCabes on Pico in Santa Monica,Ca. I have tons but never thought to use them like this. Very creative, but I would B terrified to do what he did!! Also my crappy phone is a free gov't phone & is an unknown brand android phone. It could B a UMX or an ANS. Most people have NEVER heard of them!!

I am brand new to this. I'm tired of my sons tablets ending up not being able to charge and it is exactly because he makes the port loose. He will have it plugged in and jumping as he plays, which isn't good in itself. But being autistic, he never wants to follow this rule. I couldn't work out how to open the back cover of my phone so I just made a tiny shim out of cardboard and put it in the port hole and now my charger fits nice and snug and charges perfectly again. I imagine a tiny metal shim would be better and obviously more conductive but I had a rizla packet to hand and a pair or scissors and now I have working phone again!
I really hate the MOTO brand android phones as they make inner strips, wires, cables very weak and they tear when you attempt to open it, if it tears rips or snaps your phone is finished or its reduced to a calculator, if you have a back up phone then the risk can be reduced because sending the phone to the manufacture will cost you the same price as a new or secondhand one,

This is a quick fix at best. You need to solder a new port in after you desolder the old one. It's not tough (says the guy trolling UA-cam for soldering videos 😉

Or sometimes those 2 little prongs sticking up go flat but if you push the flat end of the connector down, like on a hard surface and push it up into the plastic base part ,the prongs stick up again &hold tight when you plug it into your phone &charge good as new! When it gets loose again just repeat!

Doing this at home on a water resistant phone will leave it very vulnerable to water damage so be careful if you're doing this at home...

Or sometimes those 2 little prongs sticking up go flat but if you push the flat end of the connector down, like on a hard surface and push it up into the plastic base part ,the prongs stick up again &hold tight when you plug it into your phone &charge good as new!
When it gets loose again just repeat!

But the last one has lasted a few months so far. I also got a new phone that has the usb-c plug that doesn't have prongs & can plug either way, upside down or whatever. It holds tight & hasn't given me any problems, it's just that the phone is a piece of junk!😂😂
