Is it stable to use with a selfie stick?
Not so much.
*Andrea
Eh
Do you mean a narcissiSTICK?
You will need a selfie crane.
If you're Chuck Norris
So with that you can make the most beautiful vacation photos without even leaving your home xD.
Perfect for UA-cam vlogging!
You just need a lot of extension rings.
This would be perfect for street photography in the next county without actually going there.
Lol
hahahaha Lol
Espionage ;)
you mean "next country"?
lmaoooooooooooo
You've convinced me to buy this instead of investing for a family home.
Perfect lens for a selfie!
This seems to be a newer version of the one I used to use. It had a 1.4x extender built in. Used to use it on car commercials a lot. Took it to Brazil, on arrival it had broken its back in transport, we managed to wire the thing back together but had to use 52mm rear ND's to control the aperture as it was jammed wide open. It was fun to pull focus on, I think it had a minimum focus of approx 60 feet.
That's a bloody telescope! Not a lens!
This with a 2x tele converter must let you see into the next century!!!
No you can only look back to past.
Thanks B and H I can now photograph my Australian wedding clients in Sydney from my house in France.
That's amazing ha !
Considering the rarity, size weight limitations, and cost, $180K for a used lens, I tended to be more practical when I selected and purchased my 1250mm lens.
I chose to go with an Orion 1250mm f/13.9 Maksutov Cassegrain and here is a comparison:
Focal Length - Canon 1200mm - Orion 1250mm
Aperture - Canon f/5.6 to f/32 - Orion f/13.9 ( fixed )
Focus - Canon Auto with 49.5' minimum - Orion Manual
Length - Canon 32.9" - Orion 10.0"
Weight - Canon 36.2 lb - Orion 3.7 lbs
Price - Canon $180K ( used ) - Orion $262.64 ( new )
Ok, the Canon versus Orion is not exactly valid as these are very different pieces of optical equipment and technology, but to see what the Orion can do, here is an example:
The scene, shot with Sigma SD-14 dSLR, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro Zoom Focal Length 50mm
500px.com/photo/84477035/a-peaceful-day-by-steaphany-waelder?from=user_library
Now here is what the Orion 1250mm f/13.9 Maksutov Cassegrain can do:
500px.com/photo/83090145/hit-&-miss-by-steaphany-waelder?from=user_library
and being a Telescope, it's great for astronomical work:

Its better to buy an triplet telescope with a magnification of 200 or an catadioptric telescope or a maksutov telescope which is the best for object photography
iPhone compatible?
Rob The Plumber Want to turn your iPhone into the most expensive camera phone of all time by attaching the Canon 1200mm f/5.6 to it? This is totally doable with an adapter. Alm makes the EnCinema 35mm SLR Adapter. When used with one of their mCAMLITE cases, you could mount any Canon EOS lens on your iPhone. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

B and H
All I can say is that would make one heck of a good viral video!
B and H I've used a blackberry to take pictures using a pocket micrscope and know that works well.
+Rob The Plumber No only Samsung.
sweet.
Great that you've done this for us!
On a full frame camera it'd see about as far as a 50x optical zoom bridge camera, it'd be interesting to try this on a on Apsc camera like the 7d, it'd then have an effective focal length of close to 2000mm.
God knows what the min focusing distance would be, probably in the region of 100foot away.
I've got an adapter for eos to fit m3/4, so I'd be looking at 2400mm, but it'd be impossible to keep still and every shot would be blurry
Can't wait to get mine and take some portrait photos
Wow! I love this lens!
One example of this lens just sold for over $500,000. A world record for a camera lens.
Yes I’ll have to see it when I’m in the NY :)
You can probably see into the future with that thing!
Excellent! Very great and beautiful!
Love it! I might get two!
good luck
love this camera on my sony mirrorless makes it soo light definitly couldnt do it with a dslr.
i was considering getting one but the lack of a stabilizer in the lens just made me run away ...
+metalje666 the price tag made me run away lmao
where will you get $180,000 then? this things cost as much as a used ferrari.
The floating element will need a diesel engine to move it if they put IS on this thing.
is it not heavy enough yet for you?
I feel like even a tripod would cause lens shake when using this focal length
With this $180,000 lens,you need a camera in the same price-class too,like the Hasselblad H4D 200MS for $45,000!
But than you must sell your Lamborghini ;)
Why would you mount a canon full frame lens on a medium format hasselblad. And I'm pretty sure this is for wildlife and my d3500 will take a hsselblad for wildlife
In the full length vid when the realize that they can see the balconies on a building that is around a mile away, one of the B&H techs ponders 'is this thing legal'. Imagine hooking it up to an APS-C camera. It would have the effect of being a 1,800mm lens!
It is imazing!
Perfect for vlogging.
I'm not a Canon guy, but this is darn cool!
Just what I need for my .50cal!
Now I can only imagine what TSA would have to say about that...
hahaha so true
You’d probably have to charter your own private jet. Or just buy your own private plane.
it'd be useless in public area, imagine carrying that it's like a freaking bazooka!
What a beast, How is the sharpness of that monster compared to the 800 f5.6?
YuriFineart I would say considering on the size and demands of the optical construction for a beast of this size, that the optical quality is great. I was not able to find a specific side by side comparison of images from both lenses, but below are two links to articles we've written on the 1200mm lens, each includes sample images for you to regard and consider. See the links below for details. - Yossi

I have lens envy!
I never see a monster looking lenses like that before
Too bad I don't have a Canon camera, I'd buy this lens...
Why not just buy a cannon ? If your going to spend 150,000 USD on a lens.....
Yeah, I'm sure that's whats stopping you
"hey buddy, what are you taking pictures with that beast?"
-"Just the lady over there in her room"
...in France...
Oh look something ELSE I CAN'T AFFORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perfect for snapchat photos
I have found my perfect vlogging lens !
nice Cannon lens 👍
Will this fit on my t3i? lol
Yes, the Canon Super Telephoto 1200mm f/5.6L will be fully compatible with your Canon T3i. *Christina* AskUA-cam@bhphoto.com
It would though be 1200x1.6(crop sensor) which would be 1920mm of focal length.
Even more perfect for reading street signs.
I was about to say that lol
@PIGASUS. A crop sensor doesn't change focal length, it just crops the image. It's pixel density that matters.
and then put an 2x extender on it :D
street signs from two miles.
i think im in love...
that's not canon...
...that's CANNON!😂
B&H currently has a used one of these for sale $180,000!
www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/801201815-USE/canon_2527a001_super_telephoto_1200mm_f_5_6l.html
You should try it on an APS-C Canon camera. The zoom range must be almost 2000mm!
Nice for wedding reportage
Can I use it with my 2x extender ?
I have a couple of FREE accessories that allow me to fill the frame, just like this lens......I like to call them, 'LEGS'.
Michael Andrews If you enjoy walking 2 kilometers to get the picture. Go ahead. Not to mention the compression you get with a tele. Or the subject runs off if you get closer as 500 meters? Why do you even throw this garbage post out here?
Wannabe photographer or troll?
***** Hiding behind a wall of text and stating that you have "been a photographer for 30 years" on the internet makes the case clear.
Please search for the definition of the world "troll (internet)". It occurs to me that you are not even aware that you are trolling.
As to me, yes i am a troll. No denying it. But not as blatantly ignorant as you are.
Your post is like walking past a Lamborgini and shouting: "it sucks, It can't even drive off-road".
My canon sx60 ultra zooooom does it all :D
I think I found my next walk around lens
I laughed so hard (Calling this lens a telephoto like calling king kong a monkey) really nice phrase :)
Freakin' lens has its own tripod!
Didn't know you could make your camera into a damn telescope geez that things a damn monster
wow 👌
Not many of these bad boys around. I think they only made a handful of them. I was going to buy one, but it didn't come with a sherpa to haul it around so I passed! 😉
Nice ..
Mark III with the drop-in filter, Mark II did not have the drop-in filter. But still a beautiful lens.
I would use it for vlogging
Until just now, I always thought my 400mm f4 was a big lens. LOL
How does it compare to the Hubble space telescope?
Question...how would you know there is a street sign two miles away? Someone asked you directions and you accidentally pointed towards ny?
Pair it with a 5DS-R for the ultimate Tera-Pixel panorama!
Can you use extension tubes for microscopic macro shots?
No, you cannot. To obtain microscopic images with high magnification, you would need to connect your camera to a microscope. Using a extension tube calculator from Cambridge in Colour's website, using Canon's Extension Tube EF 25 II on the Canon EF 1200mm f/5.6 L USM Lens would only increase the lens' magnification to 0.11x, far under the level of microscopic magnification. Even some of the most basic microscopes with a 10x eyepiece and a 4x objective would have a 40x magnification, and some kids microscopes have 20x magnification. The 0.11x magnification of the Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II on the Canon EF 1200mm f/5.6 L USM Lens is far under microscopic magnification, and far even under the magnification of a standard macro lens with 1x magnification. On top of that, you would lose infinity focus when using an extension tube on the lens, and the minimum focus distance would be approximately 43.83 feet.
Imagine this paired with an R5 :)
Fits perfect on my canon eos 100d 😂
This is the Canon super tele Tv lens:
Canon 9.3-930mm XJ100X9.3B IE-D X2!
I'll buy a dobson telescope with a camera attachment . Cheaper.
@ateb3 I have seen full resolution sample images from this lens and there isn't much difference from a similarly sized telescope. It has good contrast but it has significant chromatic aberration at f/5.6 almost as much as a kit lens which its truly disappointing for the price.
telescope quality is not sharp.. the words blurring.. my telescope
My dream.
Thats not a Lens but a portable nuclear rocket launcher
WoW
Is there a Tele-Extender for it?
How much for the lens? I want to do some street photography in Havana, but I don't have a passport so Key West is as close as I can get
This gets in the category of telescope I think.
The focus ring is at the very front so I bet manual focusing will be a pain in the ass.
Ứng dụng được ít
Is it for sale ? I mite buy it.
that thing costs 150,000
Would rather put that to a house deposit on a 300k home
Can I mount this on a .50 cal?
Would be awesome to have one... who needs a retirement found, and a 401k? :))
Imagine, you get on the roof and you could shoot all the weddings in your area from home :))
good
Well thats nice but how good is it foe astrophotgraphy? You could have at LEAST given a couple shots of the moon, Saturn and, Andromeda. And will it work with the Nikon P900?
I can’t have that lens my pennies could get jealous
At this point I think it would be just a tad more cost effective to buy a nice ef lense compatible telescope.
I have seen Bigger , Nikon 1200-1700mm F/5.6-8 (zoom nikkor 1200-1700mm)
Pst, I had to look it up just so I could say that :P
So do you use lens caps or have a separate carry bag just for the lens?
jonowee The Canon 1200mm f/5.6 comes with a leather slip-on lens cap and the custom trunk case with wheels. So, one would use both the lens caps and a case. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com
I want to see someone put on a 2x teleconvertor then mount it to a rebel xti
where a can get it?
now put a converter on it !
Ever wanted to snap a photo of the Hollywood sign...from the Bronx? Then THIS is the lens for you!
I have a 500mm and while these super telephoto's are sold as being able to shoot a bird a half a mile away, they really are more useful for shooting something at around 200 feet or less. When I first got mine, I used it to shoot a guy talking to a girl across the street. They didn't know I was shooting pictures, but it looked like I was about 5 feet from them. Also, for new photographers that are going to buy one of these more powerful lenses, check them out with your tripod. I have one tripod that I can't use with my 500mm because the focusing ring hits the tripod plate. I prefer my lesser telephotos because they are less of a hassle.
Now I just need one with a RF mount
There is one now.
Can i use it as a webcam?
Heck yeah be prepared to talk to many people well at least talk to the youth they deserve it for our future.✌
Ever try throwing a doubler on that and shooting the Moon?
SPY HARDWARE!
Yes but, will it blend?
looks like all good wisecracks of already been posted, I'm way too late. So B&H can I get "Thank You" or a "Hello" for trying ?
I collect rare vintage and occasionally take them all out for a shoot as you can see on my channel but price and size wise this one overwhelms - Canon you've got the better of this old lens fanatic.
new vlogging lense lmao
can that lens capture a neutron?
