Thats pretty cool , even some of the relatively cheap super zoom cameras are fairly impressive , i have an oldish Nikon super zoom model (P90 ) with an 83 X optical zoom , and for a point and shoot sort of tourist type camera , it is amazing the distance you can get out of it . One thing common with huge zooms is atmospheric conditions and the light conditions have to be ideal for getting a decent shot . One of my favorite shots with my own old camera was a pic of a police helicopter hovering about 400 feet in the air , i could clearly see the guys face and his sunnys he was wearing and could read small writing on the access panels on the chopper , and it was a nice sunny day so i had a fast shutter speed so it looked like the chopper blades where standing still . Taking night shots of the stars is a bit of a challenge , but on one occasion i took a shot of saturn , and to be fair it was a terrible shot and grainy as hell and very small , but once magnified on my computer i could clearly see the the orb and saturns rings enough to distinguish it as saturn ........ still not bad for a point and shoot . i will say it did take a lot of attempts and an awful lot of pics that once uploaded and looked at on my pc , many many pics ended up in the delete bin . Still good fun trying though ay :) .
Just a toh if you ever try it again you can use software to combine multiple images to get a higher resulation, your Saturn image can be better by this method

that is probably around 150-250x zoom, no more, and those building are invisible at the start only on camera at zoom level 0 which is much less than human eye, and with naked eye You can see it, small but you can see it. and yeah, nobody is going anywhere.

Very cool. Our local police chopper got similar equipment a cpl years ago. I've seen recordings from it & they just watch you from 5,000m in amazing magnification, as if you're in the chopper 😅
in the future, the super being gives us the ability to zoom in without a lens like this. It creates lens fields by manually bending light. Or it just transmits an image of light it picks up closer to the object. Other options too. Oh, how I love the super being. In the meantime, we a getting little tastes of what it will do for us

Yep pretty cool the nikon super zooms , i have its little brother the P900 , even that astonishes me just how it bring things in up close , a while ago i was looking across one of the bays in my neck of the woods from the shoreline , and in the distance with my bare eyes i could only just barely make out a line of land in the distance that looked to be less than a hairs width and some of totally disappeared . Cranking up my old nikon , suddenly i could see shore line land and buildings , i zoomed in a bit more and could see cars and people . I dont have an idea what the distance was , but at a guess , I`d say it would have been at least 4 or 5 KM away , and possibly more ..

No lens. now, or in the future will get around atmospheric conditions, so yeah all utterly pointless really...that lens isn't elite, but even elite glass would be terrible on subjects that size at that distance.

That's atmospheric. Effect under action. There is no disturbance due to tripod.

No lens. now, or in the future will get around atmospheric conditions, so yeah all utterly pointless really...that lens isn't elite, but even elite glass would be terrible on subjects that size at that distance.
