i definitely feel the show is set up to explain it. theres a lot that is explained over time when its least expected in the show, so thats clearly a set up for a shocking reveal of some sort. probably being saved for once we learn of OTHER vital information that has to do with the prophecy, which would then link things together and make sense.
I honestly wish that the second season had Bean not realize about Dagmar right away and maybe had her spend the first half of the season forming the bond between the two. Then have Dagmar's evilness revealed. It would have had way more of an impact.

Something that the series never mentions is how it affected Dagmar to be petrified for so long, the last time she saw her daughter she was six years old and suddenly her daughter is a 19-year-old teenager, almost an adult. I think she loves her, at least what she remembers about Bean, but maybe there is a conflict in the 6-year-old daughter she knew and the now adolescent. I think we can only see this part of her internal conflict, when Bean sees her room in the Trog's burrow, and it is the same as the room she had as a child, because it was the last thing Dagmar knew from her. Maybe she loves her, but she tries hard to hate her.
You're right! I think she tries to make herself hate Bean because of the family curse and needing a sacrifice to hell. But if she really didn't care about Bean at all she wouldn't have put as much effort in as she has. She's still horrible for Bean but still.
I think Season 4 is gonna have to answer some questions. And I'm hoping some of them involve Dagmar. Also I think Dagmar died at the beginning of Season 2 and just left hell. We've seen two different entrances to hell so far so we know it's possible. It would also mean that simply killing Dagmar would do nothing and they'd have to come up with a unique way to beat her. I think that the person that bean was going to marry at the end of season 3, is the devil, and that dagmar made a deal with the devil, that he could marry a princess.
I think Dagmars motives are pretty clear by now. They are just unfolding too slowly. And in all the sweet moments between her and Bean she is faking it coz she‘s so obsessed with THE PROPHECY. now I start to think the show itself doesn‘t know what to do with Dagmar.
I feel with Dagmar her story isn't fully told yet cause, and it may be me reading too much into it, but I really think she's been pulling strings in the background all season 3 and I feel with the show they are building up to whatever Dagmar's true purpose and her plan. I think she's behind Zog's insanity, the prophecy, the puppet, zig being sent away' so Bean can be queen and whatever Dreamland resource that everyone is about to go to war for. Dagmar has a point but I feel like it it's a part of the main overarching plot. This show isn't like futurama where there is no actual endgame plot. What I hate about the show's use of Dagmar is that THEY ALWAYS USE HER IN THE ENDINGS TO ADD MISTERY AND HYPE. Like, y'all know there are different ways to make the audience be interested on what's gonna happen, right?
I don't think the show dodging answering all the mysteries so much is a joke exactly, so much as it's part of the core premise of the show. It's exactly what the show is trying to say. There's this magical world, and all these things happening, and the main cast keeps literally walking away from Leav-o as he tries to explain, or Elf-o's dad's constant near death near confessions, because the story, what's actually important, is just people trying to live their lives regardless of the 'interesting times' they're stuck living through. Bean having to face the reality of what's going on and deal with it, learning responsibility, literally grow up because her dad was out of commission, was the arc of Season 3. Prior to that it didn't actually matter, the real story was Bean trying to dodge all those things, Bean half-assing those things to the bare minimum, Bean's relationships. Dagmar works how the show wants her to work because at least for the first 2.5 seasons she only actually mattered to the story in terms of what she did to Bean, not why.
I think with the whole does she love bean or not thing what they are trying to do is not "Dagmar doesn't or does live bean mustery" but more that Dagmar does definitely love bean but a) is a bad at being a mother (outside of short term pretense) b) loves her cause (whatever it is) more c) thinks she is doing this for her good and doesn't care about beans 'feelings' because bean in her view doesn't know better. I didn't think her loving her daughter was ever meant to be up for contention for the audience. Could be me reading too much into it.
I am not sure if Dagmar is a wasted opportunity but I was very disappointed with her this season. Like some episodes I was sitting there like.... Cool but why tho?
Dagmar represents one of many potential threats to Bean and Dreamland, but she's not a central threat. She comes on strong so it may appear that she is the big bad, but that doesnt seem to be the role she serves in the story
Well doesn’t Dagmar come from a incest family?-& historically, some families have been noted to sometimes have mental or physical issues-so maybe Dagmar does too...
This is super superficial but look at her youngest brother. He has a really big snozze. And her sister has red hair. Maybe they come already from zogs blood line? (maybe one of their parents married one of zogs relatives (maybe aunt)?? This would explain why she has such a weak chin (like Dagmar or anyone tbh) of the Habsburgs?
This is what is so fun of the show, it is deliberately not following standerd story telling. But then everyone will wine about its standerd story telling. Note, Asmodeus is the demon of lust and anger and not the devil. So it can be the deal is not made with him. It is fun that the show has more than one thing going on.
Point 2 is a good point. The show raises a lot of questions, and rarely answers them. It has to answer them eventually, right? It's almost like the show will have another season that may have the answers. Or maybe the season after that. It's an ongoing show, the story is still being told. Patience is a virtue.
I can tell that disenchantment is trying to weave a complicated plot, I just can't tell if the payoff will be worth it. Dagmar is a good example of this, now that it has been revealed that Dagmar is a villain, Do the exact details and exact motivation of her plan really matter? What could top Dagmar betraying her husband and daughter? Do we really care about the exact wording of the contract she made with the devil? But I guess I am hooked and will watch it to the end
I know some people complain about heavy handed exposition dumps, but this show has none. If the writers have a problem with that, they can at least throw more hints. I agree they're dragging it out a bit much for my liking.
I disagree, as I think the show has exposition dumps. Not stuff like "1000 years ago, Dreamland had a war..." but stuff like Oona saying that at the bottom of the sea, she had an epiphany. They could have a great scene and SHOW Oona having said epiphany, not just tell us she had one.
I never felt the need to watch Simpsons. But a show with an overarching plot, taking place in a fantastical medieval age with good animation and humor? Gimme.
Yeah I binged this show the other day and immediately knew dagmar was evil as soon as she was freed and it was exiting knowing but not knowing what she would do also her siblings watching over bean was so cool in the first season then in season 2 it started to fell rushed and then when it’s reintroduced at the end of season 3 I’m just sad about LUCI edit: however if you think about bean and zøg’s relationship it’s terrible but once dagmar is introduced as the villain they grow closer and there story arcs get better the first season was slow but everything is slowly coming together piece by piece and none of the great story lines would be possible without dagmars story arc edit2: in the picture of bean that represents the prophecy she is in a white dress with a sword just like the white dress she is wearing when dagmar takes her in the elevator and she has the sword when commanding how to fight of the ogres
I think Bean will trick Dagmar into drinking the Stone Potion in future seasons, I believe she’s going to stop Dagmar from fulfilling the prophecy. It’s still unknown what the prophecy even is. I have a feeling we’ll find out soon.
Dagmar clearly loves Bean, but she's also narcissistic and cares more about her own convenience and comfort than Bean's. Dagmar also probably sold Zog that creepy dummy in season 3.
She is still a better character than Bean in my opinion. Bean Never really does anything besides what the plot demands of her and it’s not fun to watch. At least her Mother is doing stuff behind the scenes and is a threat in her own right, until the plot again ruins it. All bean does is complain, or treat her companions like garbage till the plot says their important to her story. If not then they just fuck around while the villains continue with their plans. It’s ridiculous how many times they repeat this process. Season 1: mom wants to take over Season 2: Kings advisors want to take over Season 3: pretty much everyone wants to take over. This ain’t game of thrones, we just want a comedy show.
Honestly, thank you for saying so! I was so tempted to say Bean was static, because beyond her relationship with her mother, she doesn't change all that much. I'll be discussing more of it on Tuesday!
@@KittyMonk if you browse around on discussions on this show you’ll see I’m heavily vocal about Bean being Useless. I’m telling you we are the minority lol.
@@masterzombie161 If you want to watch more videos on the subject, I suggest checking out Shady Doorags and his Disenchantment series. It has a lot of unpopular opinions, especially with Bean and Elfo.
@@KittyMonk i did after season 3 and they pretty much summed up the whole thing for me. I can’t believe how divisive this show is. It’s unbearably inconsistent and I couldn’t care less what their love sub plot they cram into every god damn moment. I’m worried this show might get really big and it wouldn’t be for the right reasons. Most of the time the show doesn’t even feel like a show and more like it’s wasting your damn time. Futurama on the other hand had to struggle tooth and nail just to keep going, and it heavily impacted the overall ending, but at least we got one. They were cancelled, were forced to make movie specials etc. it bothers me a lot that the same people with a safer network for their creative efforts is for an overall Very Mediocre show.
Listen. You like this show so much you made video about it. Anything they're doing is working very well. Mystery is good. I like there being absurd amount of it.
i really feel like you dont understand how matt groening likes to build things, the answers are there but hes not just gonna give you the answers and they will be answered. its like how in futurama we all wanted fry and leela together but that didnt happen for almost the entire show.
1. Not the devil, just a management demon 2. SU is a completely different show, with a different team, & a different audience so the comparisons in the vid fall flat. 3. it's a Netflix show and they usually go for 6 seasons, so they can't give the satisfying questions raised and plot answers format that kids shows like SU can give, they have to save it. 4. the episodes without dagmar aren't totally filler, they drive the plot and beans character and we see her step into her big girl boots going from a silly drunk princess to a ruler 5. if anything the plot involving dagmar is secondary and meant to serve as the sword hanging over beans head that she forgot to look up at while she was living her life and putting out fires all over dreamland (which apparently has a royal -Og curse, is the ancient elven kingdom, and has a hidden magic everyone and their mama want their hands on.) 6. I agree the constant cliffies are frustrating, both in their existence at all and in their similarity to previous season(s)
Everything you said is obvious. Just watch the show lol. No shit Dagmar is mysterious because they have a bigger plot for her in the upcoming seasons/parts (it’s called foreshadowing). Also it’s known why she’s doing this like season 2, Dagmar made a deal with the devil lol.
On the subject of why White diamond was so strict on the diamonds as well cause they were....flawed? There's so many questions that weren't ever answered as to why they were so pushy in creating so many gems meanwhile also knowing they are immortal i get that they're supposed to be the bad guys but it would've been more interesting to understand what relationship did white have with pink other than she's powerful....
Would it be unfair to say that your concerns about not getting satisfying answers from a show that's obviously expecting to run for a good while yet... might derive from dissatisfaction with Steven Universe stringing its fans along with mysteries that don't resolve in a satisfying way?
Not really, since Steven Universe answered most of the big questions in a satisfying way. The only one I kind of wish they answered was where the diamonds came from or how did white Diamond know all this stuff?
Another big question is since bean used the eternity pendant on dagmar is she immortal and since they used it on the whole of dreamland is everyone immortal?
It’d have been interesting if the show portrayed Dagmar as the way Bean could go if she gives into her worst aspects, but she grew up with Zog instead. Like a dark mirror, Dagmar needs to corrupt Bean so she can use Bean to get out of something she’d be sacrificed to, using her daughter’s life to save her own. Anytime a work uses a prophecy, it should give some vague details that can be developed and interpreted, or misinterpreted, as the season progresses. Enough to get storyline going, but keeping out enough for twists (prophecies never play out as initially expected) and leeway if plans change.
I really like Dagmar as a character so I was curious about this video but your points are all really good. The show picks up and drops Dagmar depending on the episode. I theorize that Dagmar got her powers from the devil by promising him her first born child, but the show doesn't do enough to indicate this. I like the parallels between the marriage in the first episode and the wedding in the latest, but it didn't feel like they built up to the whole devil bride thingy because they refused to explain any of Dagmar's motivations.
I think that spike crown is going to be Bean's wedding crown (don't know how that works with Jerry though) the prophecy is for Dagmar to give birth to a daughter and betroth her to Satan's son i guess.
I mean, dagmar did only have bean to fulfill the prophecy, but also that's definitely why she needs to keep bean alive. I mean towards the end she did walk her too somebody, as she's clearly trying to force her into a marriage with somebody, who I think is gordy. Because gordy wanted to marry her for an alignment of magic and science, and gordy was watching her be crowned queen through the crown. So he and dagmar have both been sorta spying on her, perhaps they are working together, and they need bean alive to marry her off to him so they can cause that alignment. Because I definitely don't think gordy is up to any good. And that one church lady. (I forgot what she's called) did say "I know you don't trust me. But whatever you do, don't trust him" So that's my thoughts on it.
I think the metal crown is meant to mind control bean to make her fulfill the marriage and when the crown was lost in Maru dagmar just drags bean to hell directly
"Another cliffhanger and we learn nothing new about her". Very well said. Bean will probably escape from the satanic chapel and the season will forget about dagmar again
I agree on like all of this. The show has so many plot points and antagonist where they’ll set it up and do absolutely nothing with. We’ll get a bunch of questions and they’ll never answer. Your point about how this was the same ending as the previous season was right too.
I'm still sitting on the cold war Russian Diamond theory for SU Dagmar is really interesting, and I theorize the prophecy is not supposed to be revealed to Bean or she'll know exactly what she needs to do to reverse it
Dagmar, at least to me, would benefit a lot from being a more active threat to Bean. A bit like how even though Azula was never ATLA's main villain, she was a frequent and bad threat. This show however, it's like they don't know if they want Dagmar to be an Ozai, or to be an Azula.
I can't stand Dagmar, and it's for exactly the reason you state: They don't do anything with her. I actually think she's the worst part of the show, because every time she's on screen, we're dragged into a dead end. And yes, the "cliffhangers" at the end of the seasons are irritating. We *know* nothing terrible is going to happen to Bean. This isn't Game of Thrones. They established that at the beginning of the second season when they didn't kill Elfo or Luci. You can't put people in danger if we already know they're safe. The best thing they could do is kill Dagmar.
I think gravity falls was able to have an story driven plot but it developed naturally through the episodes. In disenchantment, the interesting plot progresses slowly and some episodes feel like fillers and do not contribute to the plot at all. I still do not understand what the prevalent plot (eg. Prophecy) is
I feel like all of you that nitpick like this have never played Dungeons and Dragons. Welcome to being a D&D player with a DM that likes to keep everyone on edge. Disenchanment plays out like a D&D campaign, complete with idotic seeming side plots that will likely all come together later and the dumbass of the group that would roll to seduce the catfish gatekeeping a bridge. Its about the concept of both having ridiculous, crazy, fun stuff happen as a journey goes along. Dagmar is like the villain of a dunegon crawl, you see her and know shes bad but not telling her story will likely drive the ending plot of the show, much like a lot of "final boss" type gaming characters
This isnt The Expanse, you are too focued on story lines, plot and reason in a comedy cartoon. There is some sort of story continuity but thats not the main reason, its just a means.
Too many open ended questions. What with the magic siblings, why would she say "the wizard told me your father was horrible so i had to save dreamland", or how did she know about the trolls underneath dreamland? So many thing they start with her but don't end

Given the structure of the 3rd season setting up and further explaining things or dealing with the fallout from the 2nd I feel like they didn't have that much room to go into things with dagmar.
Especially in season three. She’s a major issue. She gets no where in her plan Uruk the end. That’s always it. It’s always a cliff hanger. I really hope she doesn’t blow her own cover this time and actually does what she needs to. Somehow. And they keep adding very weird details. Like her eating brains. It feels like a ploy to make her seem more evil. And I wanna know more about Maru. Like why the fuck isn’t she there? She can build an army there and actually tangle these people together, apparently that bean is a promised one and everybody knows that. If they’re in a wasteland, and sick of it, they’d surely rally together. She’s just...useless. She has too many details
There’s something I’m really confused about, (this is from memory so not all things may be correct, and I don’t wanna rewatch the episodes) So, Zøg said that the stone poison was for him, but Bean switched them around. When Luci shows Zøg the memory from 15 years in the crystal ball from a new perspective, he never knew about the poison apparently. I’m so confused, did he know about the poison or not, when he said the poison was for him, why did he want to be turned into stone?
She is fine the way she is I don't really like villains all that much but her she is the mother of been you do no that there are some mothers in this world who are just like her she might force bean to marry that guy who might be the devil or it could be what's his name but the devil might not force bean into marriage who nose maybe the devil might take back his deal with dagmire and drag her to Hell with her brother and sister
My god, can you turn down your voice? The show's audio is too low and your super high pitched voice just breaks my ears off when I turn the sound up Still gonna wtch the whole video
Do people still not understand that Disenchanment is predetermined to have only 4 seasons with a definitive end???? This theory craft is all gibberish.
Where'd you hear that? From what I've seen, people weren't sure whether or not Disenchantment was going to get a season 4, and upon looking online I found absolutely no sources claiming that this ending was confirmed, so who said there was supposedly a predetermined ending on the alleged fourth season?
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 Honestly I read it from an interview a while ago.. like season 1 times. However, there is evidence of what Im saying in the second episode of the show. They show the pig turn into human merkimer. It's all been planned from the start.
One theory that I want more flushed out is bunty and the revolution it could easily tie with a theory that mop girl might become the new rulerbecause if a lot of citizens are talking about revolution and her being a wizard that we found out at the end of season 3 she could show her powers and when the support of the people especially knowing like most of the castle just corrupt as hell and beans not there

It's almost like the show will have another season that may have the answers. Or maybe the season after that. It's an ongoing show, the story is still being told. Patience is a virtue.
I do give Part 3 credit they at least answered the question about Dreamland being magical, but yeah, they still have a lot more questions to answer.
She's in the episode the madness of zog. Where she sells the doll to bean's dad!!!!!!!!!
Gimme.
I hope we'll find out more of a Dagmar's character. Thanks for the video!
Season 1: mom wants to take over
Season 2: Kings advisors want to take over
Season 3: pretty much everyone wants to take over.
We have enough of comedy shows, don't you think? Not every show must be Simpsons or Futurama
You have some very good insight. You've earned a subscriber
If the writers answered questions in a manner you thought timely, that leaves room for far fewer episodes.
But everyone forgets she’s literally immortal now... so...
Her mom had her to pay a debt, marrying her off to Satan. I find it straightforward. We must wait and see till season 4 🤷♀️
Y’all just need to WAIT TILL THE VERY END.
Completely agree, felt this the second season dropped,,,,
Yeah I agree with you, but no one calls my fictional crush a wasted opportunity!
1. Not the devil, just a management demon
2. SU is a completely different show, with a different team, & a different audience so the comparisons in the vid fall flat.
3. it's a Netflix show and they usually go for 6 seasons, so they can't give the satisfying questions raised and plot answers format that kids shows like SU can give, they have to save it.
4. the episodes without dagmar aren't totally filler, they drive the plot and beans character and we see her step into her big girl boots going from a silly drunk princess to a ruler
5. if anything the plot involving dagmar is secondary and meant to serve as the sword hanging over beans head that she forgot to look up at while she was living her life and putting out fires all over dreamland (which apparently has a royal -Og curse, is the ancient elven kingdom, and has a hidden magic everyone and their mama want their hands on.)
6. I agree the constant cliffies are frustrating, both in their existence at all and in their similarity to previous season(s)
The Crown needs to lobotomize the ruler so the advisors are in control.
Bruh, this girls channel is amazing wow. Just wow. I'm just gonna subscribe 😂🖤
Another big question is since bean used the eternity pendant on dagmar is she immortal and since they used it on the whole of dreamland is everyone immortal?
She’s not done yet. Season 4 is still needed to complete her
It’d have been interesting if the show portrayed Dagmar as the way Bean could go if she gives into her worst aspects, but she grew up with Zog instead.
They built her up at the end of season 2 to barely have her in season 3?? Kmt
I’m surprised with how good this series is. I’d though it would be just random episodes like the Simpsons
But whatever you do, don't trust him"
So that's my thoughts on it.
I feel like most of this argument has become void after watching season 4 but you still have a strong argument
I LIKE DAGMAR BUT I AGREE WITH YOU.
I agree on like all of this. The show has so many plot points and antagonist where they’ll set it up and do absolutely nothing with. We’ll get a bunch of questions and they’ll never answer. Your point about how this was the same ending as the previous season was right too.
I'm still sitting on the cold war Russian Diamond theory for SU
Dagmar is really interesting, and I theorize the prophecy is not supposed to be revealed to Bean or she'll know exactly what she needs to do to reverse it
Dagmar, at least to me, would benefit a lot from being a more active threat to Bean. A bit like how even though Azula was never ATLA's main villain, she was a frequent and bad threat. This show however, it's like they don't know if they want Dagmar to be an Ozai, or to be an Azula.
What exactly was Cloyd and Becky plan if Bean had used the elixir on Elfo instead of Dagmar
7:23 lol thats how i say to my kids do i love them hahaha
queen dagmar looks good
I can't stand Dagmar, and it's for exactly the reason you state: They don't do anything with her.
I think the prophecy will be answered in the final season's
it's such a pity that the puns in German (e.g. freckles etc.) don't work
Great. Thanks. Now I’m mad about White Diamond all over again!
I think gravity falls was able to have an story driven plot but it developed naturally through the episodes. In disenchantment, the interesting plot progresses slowly and some episodes feel like fillers and do not contribute to the plot at all. I still do not understand what the prevalent plot (eg. Prophecy) is
I do love Dagmar's outfits and look tho
More Disenchantment breakdowns...? I don't mind if I do :D
I think this show suffers from _status quo_ syndrome.
In her portrait, Dagmar looks a lot like Roger from American Dad
i really hate how EVERY SINGLE season finale is based on dagmar. it just gets annoying and repetitive
Too many open ended questions. What with the magic siblings, why would she say "the wizard told me your father was horrible so i had to save dreamland", or how did she know about the trolls underneath dreamland? So many thing they start with her but don't end
You should talk more about prince Merkimer seeing as tHough he is the best character
He's one of those characters I have in the pipeline, but first I have a few more topics to get to.
@@KittyMonk yay!! I’m scrubsibing right now
Cubert?
You lost me when you compared this series to Steven Universe....that was a Horrid show in more then one way.
What about the people who haven't even watched Steven universe, the comparisons are not understood then.
@@Molly-et5xl and I care about your opinion? No...move along River troll...I can have my own opinions and can not watch someone on UA-cam if I feel like it...dont like it? Dont care....I didnt downvote the video...I posted an Opinion....get over yourself.

@@kuntrybumpkin8539 congrats...you actually have an opinion....that I don't care about.
Given the structure of the 3rd season setting up and further explaining things or dealing with the fallout from the 2nd I feel like they didn't have that much room to go into things with dagmar.
I feel like this video aged terribly
It's crazy how much I ended up hating queen Dagmar
2:48 plot hole after season 4 this becomes void since that wasn’t satan that was just another demon
She kinda reminds me of sindel from mk9
Same
I feel like this video won’t age well
They have to few episodes. Just not enough time for Dagmar.
9:34 probably something to do with the elves
Yeah shes still a tool only used for cliffhangers in season 4 aswell, even though I love the show, it's getting annoying
2:07 😚sssssshutttt uppppp..🙄
I didn’t got why she gave zog that puppet
Why are you the only person going deep into characters
Disenchantment had potential but ended up: Disenchanting. ironically enough. Really disappointing.
There’s something I’m really confused about, (this is from memory so not all things may be correct, and I don’t wanna rewatch the episodes)
So, Zøg said that the stone poison was for him, but Bean switched them around.
I disagree
Kitty monk waste character 👌🔥
My god, can you turn down your voice?
The show's audio is too low and your super high pitched voice just breaks my ears off when I turn the sound up
Still gonna wtch the whole video
Wasn't it supposed to be 6 seasons? We only got S1 and the first half of S2
Okay before I say anything spoilers
One theory that I want more flushed out is bunty and the revolution it could easily tie with a theory that mop girl might become the new rulerbecause if a lot of citizens are talking about revolution and her being a wizard that we found out at the end of season 3 she could show her powers and when the support of the people especially knowing like most of the castle just corrupt as hell and beans not there
don't worry it gets worse
