one of the show's best jokes is in season 1 I think elfo and bean head into the dark forest it says "beware of racist deer" they rest for the night deer goes past "a human and and an elf? that just ain't right" *spits*
I...love Sarcastic Chorus. And I am mildly entertained by Disenchanted. But-- Elfo is a badass elf (as in, just by elf standards). That's even actively acknowledged by the little devil on the elven refugee march when the bad little boy prefers to hum instead of whistle. Hell, he doesn't Just walk away from an explosion, he holds out his hand and catches a cookie from it! Elfo is the badass all the elves wish they could be.
Sometimes this side of him shines through, but most of the time it is buried under the boring and done pining for Beanie, which seems to take over 90% of his personality. Fry and Leela were cute, but the "will they won't they" part of sitcoms seriously has to die to allow the comedy to grow. Not even Disney movies are using "the two leads of opposite sex MUST FALL IN LOVE" anymore. The writing team should just be over with this romance plot and let Elfo be the badass among dorks he was born to be.
@@rafaelneumann8365 I don't think Elfo and Bean are ever going to get together. Elfos pining is something he has to get over. Also, it's clear that Bean and Mora are mutually interested in a romantic relationship so this "will they won't they" thing doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.
@@cupcakes7308 when I said they had to finish the romance plot I didn't mean at all that they should date. I meant precisely that elfo has to understand he's not her type and be happy being her friend.

Great summary, I pretty much entirely agree. The show is so close to being good, and the second half of each season almost brings it. Hoping the 3rd season brings it all together.
One thing I love is how some things are random and so unnecessary and don't add much to the plot to an episode, and that's what I love about it, just the way the writers come up with stupid shit like "Hey, while Bean is fighting off little elves, let's have Luci burst into a drinking contest in the kingdom competing with Elfo." so stupid, yet highly entertaining
I’m not finished with the show yet but I watched the whole vid just to show my support. I think you’re totally right about elfo he sucks and he’s cringey but making him comic relief that doesn’t rely on being a creep would make the show way better.
@@SarcasticChorus What about Baron Zeppeli? Or the fact the betrayal in Part 2 would not make sense. Also you dont ever hear about Dio's backstory. Not to mention you learn about Speedwagon's and Erina's feelings during that period. I would never recommend skipping it even though I despise Jonathan Joestar with all my heart.
I honestly love this show and find it hilarious. But I agree that Elfo seriously grates the nerves, especially in season 2. I wish he wasn't so inconsistent, bc one episode he's whining about Bean not reviving him but in another he's kicking major ogre ass ... like, PICK ONE.
I'm confused. Do people expect Elfo to act in one particular way forever? People feel and act differently depending on the situation and their mental state. People aren't one-note. So characters need to be developed as though they're actually people with thoughts, feelings and living in the moment.
my thing with the show is that i can recognise that it's objectively not that good, but i have fun watching it. it's rewatchable for me which is the main test of whether a show is any good.
BNA is like someone said, "Beaststars was good, but it just wasn't *ANIME* enough. So let's add a conspiracy involving an evil corporation, an idol star, and a brooding bishie who discovers HIS FINAL FORM in a giant monster battle where they have laser breath. Mmm! Taste the generic!"

Futurama did the same seesawing back and forth between plot and sitcomness regularly and everyone LOVES that show, and loves it FOR that. To be fair the writing and characters in futurama are more relatable and better written but still, I loved disenchanted personally.
Honestly, Disenchantment is one of my favorite cartoons. I love it. Elfo could've definitely been better, of course, and the plotline could be more thought out, but other than that, I have no complaints. It's funny, I like most of the main characters, and I definitely would watch it again.
I didn't hear it mentioned but I do love Luci's growing affection. I think it was the voice acting but when elfo got shot with a bow and Luci turned to the crowd and just asked 'who did that?' is made my heart drop. Luci's characterization towards 'evil asshole demon who loves his friends' is my favorite part and I wish they put that in more instead of having him half-ass caring about Bean (and elfo kinda)
8:47 oh I was not expecting that. Usually they let the friend live and the dead parent stays dead. Shame that it turned out to be a bad idea but props to this show for doing something different
For what ever reson I like this show. It's a train reck but a grourouse one so long as you egnore all the plot contrivences or inbrace them. your choice :-)
The tone of the show lends itself well to that. It's a silly world with silly characters, so you naturally don't care about everything making sense 100%, you can just enjoy the jokes.
I kind of love that Sagatha ("hooker Tinkerbell") is essentially just the actual Tinkerbell (or the way I imagine her), ie the elderly burlesque dancer that Walt Disney modelled Tinkerbell after, and who played the first Tinkerbell at Disneyland well into her 80s.
I love this show it’s so good. It’s a show you don’t have to be invested in to understand what’s happening. Very slow plot but a fantastic plot. Like game of thrones. You don’t think of how many layers there are until you’re halfway through season 3
Elfo is at his best when he stops being Elfo. One of my favorite lines from him was, "We've been in danger so much that it just doesn't phase me anymore." That was right before he dropped a bunch of ogres. That's when he works. The show it self hits enough that it's fun to watch but will also have long dry spots of comedy. Then there is the plot which is just compelling enough that you stick around to see if they advance it.
Lucy, Jerry, and Prince Merkimer (pig) are hands down the best characters, but I like everyone in the show. I honestly don't have a problem the plot or anything tbh. It's made me belly laugh so much and I can't wait for S3. No complaints from me.
I've liked a lot of shows that had messy starts or first seasons and some of them get to grow and get better, but that means they actually got approved for multiple seasons and they were actually given a chance to improve. Unfortunately, not many shows get that.
I hate when people complain about not every episode following the plot. Firstly, not every day of someone's life is furthering their lifelong ambitions. It's a comedy. Futurama did much the same thing, sprinkling the story here and there while leaving most of the room up to fun and frivolity. It's a comedy. You can't have constant story that's still funny. Second, watch carefully. Every single episode world builds in one way or another. Introducing a character, a symbol, a relic, a concept, something that always comes back in some form or another. Just finished season three. It answers a lot, but not too much, and makes a lot of stuff that seemed random make a lot more sense (just like season 2 did for season 1).
i feel like a few episodes drag, but overall i love the show. mostly, i agree with your elfo analysis. he's the worst character and they absolutely should be doing what you've suggested.
Part 1 basically exists just to set up the rest of the entire series. Like fuck the only reason I recommended for people to watch part 1 do they know who DIO is and why he’s such a problem
And the anime is only like 9 episodes long. I get that Jonathan isn't exactly a very complex character, but at least he has to actually undergo some form of training to use his ability. Joseph does too, but he just instantly has hamon since he was a boy, and Jotaro, yeah he just gets a ghost Jonathan. I really like Hamon and wish stands didn't make it obsolete.
@@ArtianSetS I too miss tibetan sunlight punches and when characters actually had to throw their own punches (on in Caesar's case, bubbles) instead of relying of their stands, and zombies and vampires remained an actual threat. Seriously, they were physically stronger and tougher than humans, and possessed super regeneration. I mean Dio was set on fire inside a giant mansion, and even THAT didn't kill him! Not even when his head was cut in two and his lower body was obliterated. He walked vertically!
I also really hate Elfo (or hatED him more before season 3) but I am not sure if the show would be better without him. Somehow it needs him, even if it's only as a McGuffin and a necessary irritant. Otherwise, I enjoy the show a lot. Not sure why, but I am drawn back to it to rewatch and it reveals more every time!
Real talk; I kinda dug season 1, and the biggest issue I actually had with it was its weird audio issues. Something was just. . . off? Haven't went back to watch it after season 2 (waiting on season 3 to do another go around), so I can't tell you if they fixed the issues. Other than that; I just kinda liked it. Though season 2 definitely is the stronger of the two so far.
Unpopular opinion about: he was briefly an amazing character. I didnt care for him all that much in the beggining. He was mildly funny and didnt annoy me, but wasnt amazing. However, there is a scene between him and Luci where he says something in the lines of "Hey, Im starting to think you dont want whats best for Bean." He then later hits Luci as revenge. Then, until his death, he became amazing. He finnaly stopped being inocent, but kept a good heart. This balance in personality between being simple and nice while not being naive and even a bit mean is something that is really rare to see and its easily my favourite type of personality in a story. Code Lyoko, an animated show that was popular around the 2000s, also achieved this kind of characters, specially in Jeremy, but its still something really rare to see. Then, the whole hell thing happened and Elfo kept developping and eventually became a rushed developped Morty. This was the writters intention from the very beggining, but I think we'll see him become more empathic again, maybe through Bean. If so, I really hope they realise the potential they have with this character and strike that balance once again
Wonderful breakdown of the show. I searched for "ways to improve disenchantment" and this video should have been the first hit (not some gaming stuff). I really do have some hope for the series.
i really enjoy the show the one BIG BIG REASON it carefree vibe , sense of adventure and the daily activity of the kingdom citizen , it not that bad if you look in this angle and the storyline are just a side story rather then an mainstory
What I'm just seriously praying for is for this show to make sure Bean and Elfo DO NOT romantically get together... I fucking hate Elfo, whereas I like Bean 😩😩
Valid critique across the board. And Season One was background noise while I did my taxes so... that's how exciting it was. I had no problem concentrating on the taxes.
I loved this show from the very first episode. The characters, the exciting turns and coolness of horrid events. I don't agree on your take on showtime or Elfo. Elfo is the UglyCute that girls secretly want to date.
I absolutely love the overarching story behind this show. It feels like netflix took two wildly different animation studios and gave them a challenge, to make an animated game of thrones. The company that created avatar came up with the dragon prince while Matt groening came up with disenchantment. I'm seriously there for the cliff hangers at the end of each part, and need to find out what happens next

Even if he's unfazed by death at this point, he'd know to just talk about this issue and the whole thing would be resolved in less than an episode.
He was fun until then.
"I need to rewatch the show to see if I should rewatch the show" -SC
I get it. It's funny, but I get it.
Idk why but this show remains me of star vs but I think this show did it right in season 2
Why? Star Vs. is worse than this because past season 2 the show went on a downward spiral and never stopped.
@@YujiUedaFan I said it reminded me of Star at least at the start with the whole rebel princess shtick but unlike star this show made it work instead of how Star is like you said a downward spiral that never stops
I thought there WAS a payoff to Elfo's dad's vague hints regarding his mom. Given the ogre Queen's reaction to finding out who his dad is, there's a clear implication that SHE is his mom.
Someone said that this show is just an adult star vs the forces of evil and I mean yeah kinda
Man that sucks, Star Vs. had a TERRIBLE ending!
We even have an antagonisticl mother
@@YujiUedaFan well, this show can use that for reference.
That Star vs ending was baffling really, it was somehow too harsh and weak at the same time.
@@miratarnish6316 Season 4 of Star Vs. wouldn't have been so bad if they had more seasons after that, since Season 4 seemed like a great start of a new arc.
I honestly didn't think they were going to continue this series. Netflix has a nasty habit of canceling its most promising and intriguing series' (cough) Daybreak (cough)
True. I miss Daybreak, i was so sad to hear that they cancel it.
What about ODAAT? Glow? Santa Clarita Diet? (Man I'm glad Shera didn't get cancelled after S3)
They ordered 4 parts before Part 2 even came out
THEY CANCELED DAYBREAK??? You're kidding. Omfg I've been waiting for so long for Season 2. I'm devastated
one of the show's best jokes is in season 1 I think
elfo and bean head into the dark forest it says "beware of racist deer"
they rest for the night
deer goes past
"a human and and an elf? that just ain't right" *spits*
I...love Sarcastic Chorus. And I am mildly entertained by Disenchanted. But--
Elfo is a badass elf (as in, just by elf standards).
@@rafaelneumann8365 I think he's getting there. He recognised who the real Bean was by acknowledging that the real Bean doesn't love him romantically.
"part 1 is terrible and its ok to skip it"
.........
me: didnt skipped part one and loved it
well im done with this
Literally same, part 1 was the best season in my opinion. Definitely made me laugh the most.
@@Tobeornottobeaworm yeaaaaaah. im glad im not alone :D
i watched all thee parts but i wasmad about the season three ending so i rewatched it again starting from season 2 thinking the season 3 ending would change...
Yo same!! I’ve rewatched season 1 so many times! Im not super into season 2. Past the first few eps it’s kinda skippable until banger season 3💙
what about when elfo fell in love with that boat and named her missy?! xDDDD
" I *s a i d* I HOPE that doesnt happen *a g a i n* "
I actually loved the first season but I did understand why people hated it
I just finished season 3 and its better then season 1 and 2 but it still doesn’t know what it wants to do
Great summary, I pretty much entirely agree. The show is so close to being good, and the second half of each season almost brings it. Hoping the 3rd season brings it all together.
It really confuses me how season 3 did the opposite 🤣
One thing I love is how some things are random and so unnecessary and don't add much to the plot to an episode, and that's what I love about it, just the way the writers come up with stupid shit like "Hey, while Bean is fighting off little elves, let's have Luci burst into a drinking contest in the kingdom competing with Elfo." so stupid, yet highly entertaining
Season 3: exists
Sarcastic summaries: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that
Or he literally didn't see it yet
Good for a new video!
I’m not finished with the show yet but I watched the whole vid just to show my support. I think you’re totally right about elfo he sucks and he’s cringey but making him comic relief that doesn’t rely on being a creep would make the show way better.
heathen. you cant skip speedwagon!
Yes
He's in Part two. Would never say skip part 2
@@SarcasticChorus he's barely in part two, and barely exhibits any of his charm in it.
@@madestmadhatter *Laughs in Speedwagon narrating Kars ascension.
“She falls down and is surrounded by goblins...i think”
Those are trøgs you fool
I honestly love this show and find it hilarious. But I agree that Elfo seriously grates the nerves, especially in season 2. I wish he wasn't so inconsistent, bc one episode he's whining about Bean not reviving him but in another he's kicking major ogre ass ... like, PICK ONE.
He can do it all!
its a runny joke
I'm confused. Do people expect Elfo to act in one particular way forever? People feel and act differently depending on the situation and their mental state. People aren't one-note. So characters need to be developed as though they're actually people with thoughts, feelings and living in the moment.
Family Guy: "Let's kill off a main character so that we can shamefully boast ratings!"
Disenchantment: "Hey! Can I copy your homework?"
my thing with the show is that i can recognise that it's objectively not that good, but i have fun watching it. it's rewatchable for me which is the main test of whether a show is any good.
I’m thinking he should do a summary of Brand new animal
But how can he do the Baseball episode better?
@@gutsmasterson2488 Good question
BNA is like someone said, "Beaststars was good, but it just wasn't *ANIME* enough. So let's add a conspiracy involving an evil corporation, an idol star, and a brooding bishie who discovers HIS FINAL FORM in a giant monster battle where they have laser breath. Mmm! Taste the generic!"
@@Raziel312 it’s fun tho
@@silent04_ Excuse me? Read it again. My complaint about BNA isn't that it's furry. My complaint is how it's packed with tropes. The furry aspect is pretty much BNA's only claim an identity of it's own.
Part 1 is not terrible and it is not okay to skip it.
I second this. It's definitely not THE BEST, but I thoroughly enjoyed part 1.
Why does every comment in this video sounds like a backhanded compliment? 😂
@@SuperMiley1994 ???
@@SuperMiley1994 correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure they meant part 1 as in part 1 of the show, not part 1 of the youtube video. I might just be stupid though and you’re talking about something else entirely lmao
I absolutely love the show. I get that it's not perfect, but it's really entertaining!
Oona and her "weed" was my favorite part of season 3
My Daughter and I LOOOVE DisEnchantment! We love the lame jokes that always makes up with good momentous comeback jokes. It works. So good!
Disenchantment is just the king of plot twists 😂
Not gonna lie, I just watched season 3 without finding a recap for the show, and I forgot that Elfos parents were even a thing
Omg 😱 I didn’t know you got to this because it good and season 3 comes out today.
Season 3 WHAT
Thank you for telling me
I'm going to go beng that now bye have a nice day
Bitch WHAT? Season 3 is out
Season 3 was great to me. I found this after Binge watching the whole show over again.
I needed this
Don’t mind me I’m just watching this video after watching all of part three the day it was released.
Who’s here after luci’s death then him screaming “ HELL NOOO!!” In heaven 🤣
Disenchantment feels like the writers watched Star vs. the Forces of Evil...'s last season or so and turned it into a show.
zøg should turn back to his old self id love to see him change and being the best
I guess we'll see today if part 3 fixes elfo
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH
Lucy, Jerry, and Prince Merkimer (pig) are hands down the best characters, but I like everyone in the show.
Exactly
2:19 is that Matt freaking Berry?? Ok, i'm going to watch this show now.
i feel like a few episodes drag, but overall i love the show. mostly, i agree with your elfo analysis. he's the worst character and they absolutely should be doing what you've suggested.
"I'm drowning!"
"I'm Elfo!"
part 1 is the best part of jojo. Don't care, you're wrong
Part 1 basically exists just to set up the rest of the entire series. Like fuck the only reason I recommended for people to watch part 1 do they know who DIO is and why he’s such a problem
Lol part 1 is fine, Jonathan is a sweetheart and Dio is a menace. It works
I don't agree, but it is underrated. It was the part that got me invested into later parts of Jojo, so it did its job.
I love elfo’s character just not the personality. I completely agree with u saying he should try be bad the the others
The third season was the best by far. I love how relatable Bean is, Luci has my heart and soul and I managed to not hate Elfo
Zog going insane in the end from my worst fear is just so terrifying omg
Real talk; I kinda dug season 1, and the biggest issue I actually had with it was its weird audio issues. Something was just. . . off? Haven't went back to watch it after season 2 (waiting on season 3 to do another go around), so I can't tell you if they fixed the issues.
Other than that; I just kinda liked it. Though season 2 definitely is the stronger of the two so far.
I'm the opposite; I stopped caring when there was an overarching story and only really paid attention to the one-off adventures.
Luci went to heaven.. HOW- MANS A DEMON-
My personal theory: Being in heaven is his personal hell. A demon who has to stay in heaven? That's some evil punishment. :D
I surprised that no one is yelling at him about being a part skipper

When a "giant" woman is mentioned in any show and he shows a short clip of Steven
Me: My disappointment is, immeasurable and my day is ruined
Elfo is probably half Ogre, felt like a hint in Season 2, Season 3's bizarre end kinda just cements this theory.
I dont exactly know why I love this show but I just do. Literally dying for the next season
Phil Lamar was God and Satan?
Phil Lamar is the Alpha and Omega of the Cartoon Universe
I agree with American Dad. It took them a while to find there own lane. And the fact that you used “yeet”... automatic sub lol
i really enjoy the show the one BIG BIG REASON it carefree vibe , sense of adventure and the daily activity of the kingdom citizen , it not that bad if you look in this angle and the storyline are just a side story rather then an mainstory
What I'm just seriously praying for is for this show to make sure Bean and Elfo DO NOT romantically get together... I fucking hate Elfo, whereas I like Bean 😩😩
I think they heard our prayers cause now we have a 'did it even happen' romance with a royal mermaid
Yeah. I don't think they have chemistry.
Valid critique across the board. And Season One was background noise while I did my taxes so... that's how exciting it was. I had no problem concentrating on the taxes.
So Phil Lamar is devil and god yeah that makes sense
".... and medieval medicine is only helping him die." 🤣🤣🤣
I loved this show from the very first episode. The characters, the exciting turns and coolness of horrid events. I don't agree on your take on showtime or Elfo. Elfo is the UglyCute that girls secretly want to date.
Season 3 review when? Just found your channel from this video and I already love you
I absolutely love the overarching story behind this show. It feels like netflix took two wildly different animation studios and gave them a challenge, to make an animated game of thrones. The company that created avatar came up with the dragon prince while Matt groening came up with disenchantment. I'm seriously there for the cliff hangers at the end of each part, and need to find out what happens next
absolutely love this format of video
Ok but luci didn't guilt himself into saving bean and elfo from hell that was his plan from the beginning was to save them. I'm pretty sure he literally said that at one point
honestly I like this show and I been hooked since the first episode
