The street glide actually comes from a style of bike popular in California when people would strip an E Glide and remove a lot of extra parts and chrome, Harley noticed these were getting popular and then the street glide was developed and released.
My step dad had an Electra glide that he completely built and modded and him and his friend summited it to Harley Davidson and it was one of the bikes used for inspiration for the street glide in 2006
I have an 05 Electraglide Standard. It’s the 88 with a 5. It’s not a bad bike. I’ve had it 6 years and no issues. It runs its best at 80-90 mph. Ride safe!!
My father in law picked up a 2010 Super Glide for $1500. It had been setting for a couple years but only has 5700 miles on it. He had to change the fuel pump, injectors, new battery, new gas, plugs, fired right up runs like HD!!
In regards to the comparison between the Street Glide Special vs the Ultra Limited, I am in complete agreement with the styling points mentioned in the video, but I would like to throw in a little kudos for the handling of the Street Glide as well. I’ve owned several models of bikes by HD, and that includes 72’ shovel head, 72’ Sportster, 82’ Wideglide, 2016’ Breakout, 2019’ Deluxe, and now a 2020’ Street Glide. Each one having it’s own strong and weak points when doing serious travel. The Street Glide, thanks to it’s lower stance, is very agile, given that it has a lower center of gravity, cornering at a little faster speed is effortless and I feel comfortable and in control, which is of great importance since I drive in Colorado’s mountains alot in the summer. It is also great in high volume traffic areas in the city where stop and go is the norm. Nowhere near the heating issues I had in my shovelhead and breakout. Overall comfort on the Street Glide is exceptional and it is a well balanced bike, and you can add on all kinds of goodies to achieve the final look you want. I never really considered a bagger when owning my other bikes, but after buying one I realize that we’re always learning something new in the Harley experience, and I’m stoked about my Street Glide. Go get one, you won’t be sorry.
The major problem with a street glide is the wind buffering hitting the batwing fairing. The road glide is where it’s at IMO. Less of a workout for long rides as the fairing is fixed to the frame and takes all the wind. That and they look better imo.

I test drove both. The RG is a much better bike. On a street glide, I felt the fairing is too close to myself making feel how narrow is the space between my chest and the fairing. On the RG, I feel more comfortable and feel much better than being on a SG.
I can’t get used to the turn signal situation. I like having the basic 1 switch for both signals. For some reason having separate controls really really messes with me
Does the owner even ride the thing? I have a 2018 CVO Street Glide I just did the 10K service on, and I live in New England! We get less than half the year that is good for riding.
I have a 2014 and love it. Two main things to do them. First, cam, heads, air and map. Makes that 103 come alive. Mine specked out at 116lb torque and 103 hp. 100 torque at about 2000 rpm. Next and just as important, replace the rear shocks with something that can make the bike handle right. I put on a set of Terry Cable shocks. Same ride height but 1" more travel. I did not stop there. I changed out the front fork dampener but left the spring stock. Amazing the difference. Handling is a 10. Tight in the corners. Glides down the road. Might be a 'me too' bike, but I made it my own.
Oh yea, pipes. Went with the same pipes, V&H. Makes a huge difference with the Power Duels. Gotta have'm. Then the rest of the bike is a canvas to make it your own.
I normally don't comment, but here goes. I have a 2011 streetglide, and mine did come with a tour pack. I installed the bars myself on mine. If you run the wires through the bars, it's difficult, but it's possible to do yourself. Still cost me about $1200 when all is said and done, and you still need to take it to the dealer to have your breaks bleed, if it has abs, as the dealer has the program and they haven't released the info to the aftermarket world yet. But it is possible to disconnect the abs system all together. Also a downfall for the newer bikes with abs is you have to have the dealer change your breakfluid every 2 years or your abs will break.
I owned an 07 model which I bought brand new, and loved it. The only problem was it got real hot under the right thigh in our summer, in Australia. I know you can buy oil coolers and love jugs and so on, but isold it and got a Roady instead. Still have a soft spot for the StreetGlide, but if I was gonna buy another faired bike, I'd choose the Road Glide.
I traded in my 2005 RK towards a 2011 Road Glide, not too happy with the wind bobbing my head around at 60mph! It does have the flared windshield and I had plans on changing it, but that in my opinion would make it worse? I had 3 Street Glides over the years and wish I still had them now! Sure, the Road Glide handles like a dream on the highway because of the fixed fairing, but your head isn't quite as rigid and it makes for a miserable ride! KEEP YOUR STREET GLIDES!
Small tip for you guys. get an Ultra and take the tour-pak off, buy the low profile seat and you got the best of both worlds. And it's convertible when you go touring! I did it with my 2018 115th edition Ultra and it looks the dogs :-D
I have a 2011 cvo in kryponite green. It's crazy on highway cruising. Australia. Soo glad I got it. It's definitely an eye catcher. 110cubes screaming eagles. It's a joy to ride.
Hey Sean, great bike man, hey I own a 2013 fat boy lo and it doesn't have throttle by wire, has a dedicated dual throttle cable... Was that only an option on touring bikes?...
Wicked Coolname no way, that’s what gloves are for. The fairing is to protect your chest. Since I saw that your a RAT. You’d hate what I’ve done to my bike. A T100 with 12 inch apes(+1 inch risers), and a parabellum fairing. Hahaha
I have a 2018 street glide special. I absolutely love it. It’s definitely a head turner. I used to get that when I had my Dyna. But not to this extent. But if you want to crush miles on and look good doing it. Street glide is where it’s at. It handles really good too. There’s certain things I think the Dyna did better with. But nothing that makes the street glide feel as big as it is. It also has a great lean angle. The Dyna street bob has more lean than almost every Harley. But the stuff I’d drag peg on with it. I haven’t touched the floorboards with the street glide. And I’ve been pushing it hard in the turns expecting it to scrape.
The first impression I get from this guy is that he is mostly a sales person, at least as far as this video goes. The Street Glide is not the most popular touring bike that Harley sells. The Road King is, first because it has been in production longer and partly due to the fact that it is one of the lower priced touring models, it is also lighter in weight making it popular to those upgrading from other Harley frame type models. It is the best handling touring model and a very comfortable long distance rider. Before I am accused of being a biased Road King owner let me say that I did own a 2003 100th Anniversary Road King and it was a hard decision to trade it in, only because I couldn't afford 2 bikes. I decided to upgrade when the Rushmore models came out with all the improvements to design. Although I intended to buy a Street Glide, my salesman at the local Harley dealer convinced me to test ride the 2015 Road Glide. I bought a Road Glide Special as soon as I returned from the test ride, which wasn't just a short local ride but an hour long ride on an interstate and local roads. The Road Glide handles better than a Street Glide on the highway, so, if your a distance rider the Road Glide is superior. Unfortunately my 2015 was totaled in an accident but the good part is the car owner's insurance paid for my new 2017 M8 Road Glide Special that is even better than the 2015 was. My point is don't assume anything, all Harley touring models are great bikes but test ride all of them before making your decision.
Hey brother fly buy wire was fitted from 2010 on the street glide "I had one" bad point - rear pegs are fitted to the frame and when having a pillion on board there toes dig into your calves when at stop so some pillion training required to move there feet back - but for cruising no problems.
Well Sean this is how it started at least in my area. Younger People was buying the standard then take all the Crome and badging off then putting a short windshield on it and putting they’re own radios on them all for around 13 to 15,000. The motor company took that and ran with it... give the radio back. No crome and color options. Because the standard only came in black. Then marked it up to 25 to 30,000. Smart of the company but people should have demanded the cheaper standard with a color options because nobody keeps it stock. But it is all about the might dollar! Thanks for the vid bro...
I just bought a 13 street glide. I love it. I’m 5’4 and on my tippy toes. Ordered a reduced reach two up seat to get a little lower and yes I wear a helmet with a curved 6.5 inch windscreen. No issues
Thanks so much for posting you are for real personally I have had both had a little over a hundred thousand miles on my street glide presently on newish road glide for me personally nothing goes through the wind and rain better than a road ride just my opinion
How is the faring vibration? I bought a new 2006 and the faring absolutely vibrated so bad I thought it was gonna break off. had it checked and never was satisfied , sitting at a red light you could not see behind you in the mirrors.. I sold it and bought a roadking.
Just got a street glide yesterday. Sold my beloved FXR and got an old man bike (if it's a bagger, it's an old man bike). Love the comfort. I can ride more than 20 miles now without a broke back
Was going to go with the street glide. But ended up with the chieftain dark horse because of reasons. Such as larger displacement. Adjustable wind screen. The size difference of the bike (chieftain is longer and you don’t feel compacted when riding) speed etc
I currently own both a Street Glide and Road King. IMHO these are the 2 best bikes that HD makes. I owned a Road Glide for 1 year, and just couldn't feel it, sold it shortly after. Great video, ride safe!
Patrick Hutcheson I have a road glide, because they’re better... however, if I was going to get a batwing, I’d go with the Electra glide. The reason some people would prefer it is because it saves on cost by not including things you’d want to upgrade anyways. The Harley sound systems suck, unless you upgrade to stage 2 audio. Also, with brushed parts, instead of chrome, it’s easier to prep parts for powder coating or, in my case, cerakote. Everyone wants to customize their bike, so why not buy a stripped down version? If they had the same thing for rg, I would’ve gone with that
Patrick Hutcheson oh I know they do. I was just saying the stock systems suck. Stage 2 is a great system, but way overpriced. Almost anything aftermarket is better, but I was just speaking in general, saying you don’t want the stock setup anyways.
Just my personal experience, I'm not making any recommendation... I wrecked a bike at about 50mph wearing a pair is Levi's jeans and they held up exceptionally well! They saved my skin and I even continued to wear them afterwards...
I’m only 5’5” tall with a 26” inseam and most bikes are to tall for me. I have a 2015 Low Rider that I put 1 shorter shocks on to lower it a little. What do you think about the Low Rider and do you like them?
What's a good step up from a honda shadow 750cc? I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm bored already lol. I like the comfort of it. I'm 5'8 and weigh 155. I can handle a little heavier of a bike, but not too much. Thanks, and God bless
Zachary John Calvin Adams Dynas weight in the mid 600 range but carry the larger engine. I went from a shadow to a 2017 low rider. The bike rides a lot different though with the rubber mounted engine. Huge step up in power and torque though. Softails come in mid 700 range. Be very careful about getting the larger v twin if you don’t have experience. Gain some experience on that shadow before getting a heavy more powerful Harley. You will wreck the bike if you are stupid.
Get what you like. I jumped from a damm sportster to a street glide. Hugh diffrence. But you only feel the weight when starting and low speeds. Once your doing 20mph you dont feel that heavy weight. I adjusted within a couple of weeks. So dont be afraid to get something ,and the graduate to something again. If you know how to ride, you can ride anything. Just take your time
I love the street glide. Personally I wouldn't do sportster ever again, so much more comfortable, great handling. Yes, you think it big and it does handle hood. But she hugs turns very well. Love the wind being blocked. How it happened to me,was my father has a ultra glide. I took it for a ride, I was hooked. Drives like a sporty Cadillac
I’m not 6’2”. I’m 5’2”. Seat height is not likely a problem, but the forward controls are a problem. Can mid controls be installed on this H-D? Serious question. I’m hoping someone can answer.
A bit of a delayed response, but if it were me, I’d be looking into one of the maxi scoots: Suzuki Burgman, HondaSilverWing, BMW scooters , Yamaha Tmax, Piaggio and several others. brakes like a ten speed bicycle, on the bar grips. linked and ABS breaking since around 2007-8. Legs/ feet needed when stopping only, so a left , right or double leg amputation can be accommodated. Automatic shifting, so no clutching to be concerned with. A lot of storage under the seat. Great ride, great performance and relatively inexpensive to buy and operate. My experience is with the Burgman, 400 and 650, but all labels are good, the point is to be riding, wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth through a huge smile, it’s called wind therapy. Around town or all day travel down the interstate they are wonderful motorcycles,
I've always had a terrible affinity for big wheel baggers and its shamefull. This let's me buy a bike stock and kinda get some of the style I secretly crave lol
This bike was owned by the typical Harley owner. Buy the bike, ride to the bar, ride home, bolt some after market junk on your bike, ride back to the bar, show off your bike, ride home, bolt some more junk in your bike, ride back to the bar, show off your bike.... 5 years later, bike had been sitting for 4 years, sell bike. Drive to the bar, in your mini van, cry in your beer with your buddies about how much you miss you Harley.
I currently own a 2006 sportster and 2015 fz-09. I will likely sell both and buy a road glide. I think these bikes are popular because riders come to the realization sport bikes are nothing but trouble on public roads and as you get older your body can’t handle less comfortable platforms. My hips get strained after a half hour on the Fz.
i got a buddy with a 15 street glide and it has 109,000 miles. he was offered 5 grand on a trade at harley. he sold it himself n got 6500 and sold it in like 2 days lol.
I bought my 14 about 2 years ago I went just over 5 years with no license. I bought it from a private seller about 2 weeks before my reinstatement. So my girlfriend and I would be comfortable riding on long trips or even across town my intruder is not big enough for the both of us first bike I ever had with a fairing. After a few long trips I think the frame mounted fairing of roat glide would be better for wind and the wind turbulence from semi trucks. But I'm in to deep to get out of it it now. But very comfortable and smooth.

Also a downfall for the newer bikes with abs is you have to have the dealer change your breakfluid every 2 years or your abs will break.
driverless steering?? what years is this with? looking at the street glides.
Gloves look sick, how much to get it shipped to scotland ?
7300 miles on a 2013? That’s how you know more time and money was spent on parts instead of riding(even with those parts)
Justin Meyer right? I know it’s their money to waste but it seems stupid as hell to load it up with aftermarket parts to sit in a garage.
I bought my 2013 with 8700 miles in July for 12900. Lots of extras, about 10k in parts, rims, powder coating. I made out.
Only 9k miles on my 2007 road king ))), I only ride when i want to, not when i need, for rides when i need a have a damn car.
I want one blacked out. I'm a big guy but never rode a motorcycle before. Is it a good first bike?
Small tip for you guys. get an Ultra and take the tour-pak off, buy the low profile seat and you got the best of both worlds. And it's convertible when you go touring! I did it with my 2018 115th edition Ultra and it looks the dogs :-D
Where you riding at? Looks just like where I grew up in Lancaster, PA.
Are those yaffi bars and what size are they 12 inch?
$800 bars is insane
The 2019 Electra Glide Standard is awesome! Looks good and has all the important stuff. For THOUSANDS less!
Bruce Davidson right? Street glide is only 21k and has a few improvements. The special is a little crazy pricey.
Are those 14" ape hangers? They look like the 12' apes I ordered last week for my 2012 SG.
> Kevlar gloves
> Exposed left knee
Yeah some mother's children
😂😂🙌🏽
Apes installed at a Harley dealer is $830 parts, bars and labor and that includes a set of bar mirrors that cost about $136 ..
The only thing stupider looking than ape hangers would be ape hangers above a faring.
Well I drag floorboard on my SGS a lot XD But I would still admit it has a good lean angle!
No issues
I wouldn't say start on a street glide but definitely end up on one
justin pigg or skip graduation and get a road glide
Thanks so much for posting you are for real personally I have had both had a little over a hundred thousand miles on my street glide presently on newish road glide for me personally nothing goes through the wind and rain better than a road ride just my opinion
Hate I missed this one. Where are y'all located?
In consideration of the faith-based content of this channel, Shawn (Sean?) ROCKING his Holy Jeans 😋
Love the channel, keep up the good work 👍
Bro where are you located? I see you driving around and stuff looks very familiar. Im near Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania. NE PA..
How is the faring vibration? I bought a new 2006 and the faring absolutely vibrated so
bad I thought it was gonna break off. had it checked and never was satisfied , sitting at
a red light you could not see behind you in the mirrors.. I sold it and bought a roadking.
Wow, this seems to be a good point.
Just got a street glide yesterday. Sold my beloved FXR and got an old man bike (if it's a bagger, it's an old man bike). Love the comfort. I can ride more than 20 miles now without a broke back
Do people prefer the drive by wire or cables?
Does that radio have Bluetooth? And if not how much do put one in it?
Do you finance with a trade in 89 softail fx....she still runs
Was going to go with the street glide. But ended up with the chieftain dark horse because of reasons. Such as larger displacement. Adjustable wind screen. The size difference of the bike (chieftain is longer and you don’t feel compacted when riding) speed etc
let us know how that works out for you when they fold again
Where do you get the spikes
I currently own both a Street Glide and Road King. IMHO these are the 2 best bikes that HD makes. I owned a Road Glide for 1 year, and just couldn't feel it, sold it shortly after. Great video, ride safe!
I dig those boots, what brand/style?
The Electra Glide Standard is back for 2019 though.
Yes they did but takes about 3400 to make it a street glide.
If they had the same thing for rg, I would’ve gone with that
@@HH-zi5ih Dude check out the Rockford fosgate systems, they blow stage 2 out of the water man. And cheaper as well.
Patrick Hutcheson oh I know they do. I was just saying the stock systems suck. Stage 2 is a great system, but way overpriced. Almost anything aftermarket is better, but I was just speaking in general, saying you don’t want the stock setup anyways.
@@HH-zi5ih Don't have to upgrade anything if you use the headset like I do! :)
What's your opinion on the softail standard??
Just my personal experience, I'm not making any recommendation... I wrecked a bike at about 50mph wearing a pair is Levi's jeans and they held up exceptionally well! They saved my skin and I even continued to wear them afterwards...
What are those handlebars called? How much rise do they have?
Can you do the sportster 1200 because I would like to know a lot more for when I purchase one in a year or 2
I’m 16 btw
I’m only 5’5” tall with a 26” inseam and most bikes are to tall for me. I have a 2015 Low Rider that I put 1 shorter shocks on to lower it a little. What do you think about the Low Rider and do you like them?
Try the Fls slim. It has thw lowest stock seat height of any the big twin Harleys at 24"
the best thing about SRK channel vids is how they teach you to sell ice to an eskimo
Just take your time
@@johndepace8676 Thanks man. I'm feeling pretty comfortable on it now. I might go with a sportster Idk. How arr you liking the street glide ?
I love the street glide. Personally I wouldn't do sportster ever again, so much more comfortable, great handling. Yes, you think it big and it does handle hood. But she hugs turns very well. Love the wind being blocked. How it happened to me,was my father has a ultra glide. I took it for a ride, I was hooked. Drives like a sporty Cadillac
What size are the apehangers ?
I have a 2012 and I love it. I have customized it with a different stereo system, bars, a tour pack, and a few other things and it’s great.
I’m not 6’2”. I’m 5’2”. Seat height is not likely a problem, but the forward controls are a problem. Can mid controls be installed on this H-D? Serious question. I’m hoping someone can answer.
What's a tore pack?
How tall is that wind shield?
You left home wearing your wife’s jeans! WTF, I’m going to pretend I didn’t see this…
Love the vids but I'm a below knee amputee on my left foot what bikes or mods would be good for those of us?
There's a air shifter like what drag racers use to shift. I know two guys who use them
A bit of a delayed response, but if it were me, I’d be looking into one of the maxi scoots: Suzuki Burgman, HondaSilverWing, BMW scooters , Yamaha Tmax, Piaggio and several others. brakes like a ten speed bicycle, on the bar grips. linked and ABS breaking since around 2007-8. Around town or all day travel down the interstate they are wonderful motorcycles,
In reality though it's because they watched Sons of Anarchy.
90% of the bikes on SOA were road kings and dyna tho...🤔
I've always had a terrible affinity for big wheel baggers and its shamefull. This let's me buy a bike stock and kinda get some of the style I secretly crave lol
You mean dyna
Those are the dyna bros
Road kings ? I think you meant 90% dynas
Speaking from experience?
Who puts stock slip on's, on Vance and hines x flow headers
rashad maxwell probably someone who had the money for new exhaust but couldn’t handle the sound so he swapped back to stock
rashad maxwell 😂👍
I currently own a 2006 sportster and 2015 fz-09. I will likely sell both and buy a road glide. I think these bikes are popular because riders come to the realization sport bikes are nothing but trouble on public roads and as you get older your body can’t handle less comfortable platforms. My hips get strained after a half hour on the Fz.
Love my street glide. 2012 CVO. Super comfortable. Rode from Wichita to Miluakee 765 miles in a day.
what brand safety pants are those you sportin homy?

i got a buddy with a 15 street glide and it has 109,000 miles. he was offered 5 grand on a trade at harley. he sold it himself n got 6500 and sold it in like 2 days lol.
Loved the scripture before the ride! God bless you brother, see you on the road 🙏! 👊😎
The real reason people buy Street Glides is because they didn't test ride a Road Glide. :-)
Because they wouldn't want nothing else until they get on a road glide.
Or something from another manufacturer,
@@fiveowaf454 I don't know but when I started looking at Harleys I never felt the same about a motorcycle since all I look at is Harleys.
Roadglides are ugly as hell though.
Jim Kelley , they may be ugly to you, but they are a much better ride. Riders chose Road Glides. Posers, Street Glides. LOL! J/K.
Preparing for a flood Sean?
Guys who ride street glide from 2017 what is your opinion about street glide ? Is it worth? They are good ?
2008 SG Duracell Battery color and those in fairing mirrors just don't work...plugged them fast now have old man mirrors..
Oh yeah Finally 1st to post to a comment I just bought a 2017 street glide love it
millwakee 8 that comes with that right?
John Smith 2017 and above on the touring models not sure about the softtails
@@mahlercdo3 is there much; f a heat difference with these motors?
John Smith from what I understand the twin cams runs a lot hotter than the Milwaukee 8 the placement with the cat on the twin cans makes for a hot right leg on the milwaukee’s they moved the cat back to illuminate this problem hopes this helps
@@mahlercdo3 right on that makes sense, i never thought about the cats making it hot, but it would. i have a sportster and i know theu get real hot. just went for a test rode some of the soft tails, but not long enough to heat soak anything
What size bars are those?
i like 2019 street glide cvo. yeah its more stripped down version of ultra classic. cvo's hold value.
You know there’s no one in the background when you ask the price of a bike YOU own lol
So... I love the street glide. I've not owned one, but for sure will one day. But this one, I do not like how it is modified. To each his own, that's the great thing about Harleys.
How much for the 2013 Street glide
