This just tells Harley owners how much HD is slacking. They are brand loyal. As are Indian lovers. Simple as that. Harley has a huuuge advantage in the loyalty department.
Harley has the a huge advantage of just the sheer number of dealers. The network is there. You’re on the road for 5-10 thousand miles you need oil changes/tire changes mechanical repairs and you’re guaranteed to find a dealer for Harley but not Indian

I was at a Diner and Bar last Sunday out of the 60 or more Bikes I know that my Vintage Red Indian was definitely the Bike of the Day compared with 90% Black Bikes and a few mixed and 2 tone ..And Most of the Harley's Sound so loud and out of tune ,I guess they can't hear it with earplugs and Helmets and the Sound behind them..Who would pay thousands of dollars for the Chrome pipes made out of $50.00 worth of pipe then chrome it and charge a fortune..Harley lost me after a disaster of a Heritage Softail 103 that was doomed from day one spent months and months being repaired under warranty, I was lucky enough to unload it with a small loss ..Never Again would I buy a Harley..My friend has the same Indian as mine and commutes to work 85,000kms in 5 years Never had a problem only Service, Tyres and a Battery..
Love the Indian...always have, though had an oppertunity to buy one bout '78, a 47 Chief...at the time had come across hard times and had to leave LA for Fla to find work. And this man had confidence in my riding and told me to take it for a spin...whoa, his father had given it to him in his will. I had no credit and couldn't come up with any sum of cash which I regret to this day, also this bike was mint and the man was a Hells Angel and the guy was a good friend, I had confidence in my riding as had been riding for 25 yrs at the time, but didn't like LA traffic soo no ride, regret that also, at age 64 am going to look into the purchase of a new Indian!
I had a 2013 Road glide then traded it in for a 2018 Indian chieftain limited. The Indian was a great bike, better suspension than my road glide, the power windshield is definitely a big perk, but didn’t care for the heat from the rear cylinder. Just traded it back in for a 2020 Road glide. I prefer the fix fairing. Was going to go with the new challenger but decided to wait a few years to see how the all new 108 liquid cool motor holds up.
I've owned/ridden both the HD Glide(s) & most of the recent Indian models & while I love them all, my Victory Cross Country Tour is the best "bagger" motorcycle I've EVER ridden! Hands down.
Bought our 2019 chieftain 2 weeks ago and we love it. My parents are Harley people but we like the chieftains look better. Both are great bikes, but the style suits us better. Already got 1400 miles on it!
I've had an adjustable windshield for the last 12 years. One of the best things about it is that on the super hot days, if wearing a helmet with a front vent, you can adjust the windshield to direct air right into the vents. Keeps your head cool very well once you're up to about 40 mph.
I owned Harley's still do. I also own a 2016 Roadmaster and it's easily it's one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. Comfort, power and accessories are all a step above Harley. All indian stuff is quick-detach from the factory, not an option. i wish it had a bigger tank but I can live with it. Ride one and you'll buy it. I did.
I prefer to keep Indian a secret so like Harley we do not become another guy on a Indian syndrome. I would rather tell these people my Roadmaster sucks so they all keep riding the same bikes that i see everywhere .When i pass a brother on a Indian i just smile and nod.
@@chonasimpson6487 i agree im not a motorcycle guy never rode one dont know how to ride one either. My dad's been wanting a harley his whole life i plan on buying him one but he likes power and lets be honest according to data indian is cheaper price better quality and more power and performance. I like the way they look better too me there unique and classic looking. Also yeah i dont like buying what everyone else has.. ive always liked to stand out and be different.. harley people come off as snobbish they all act like there hells angels. But again just my 2 cents ill probably buy my Dad a indian he will complain at first but after her rides it i think he will love it and cry and forget all about the badge and name that it doesn't say harley and he cherish it and thank me that i bought the indian instead..
I would choose the Chieftain over the HD. 3 reasons; 1. I’m a short guy, so the position of my legs set better with the chieftain. 2. It’s something different. The styling looks great and it’s not HD. 3. I love my HD. But I’m hating the HD dealerships with their greedy market adjustments, they are awful about this. I can’t justify handing over $1k-$10k just cause they feel like raising the price. Until this trend changes, I won’t give HD another dime. I recommend others to do the same.
My 1973 Harley FLH Police Special had right side throttle but foot clutch and jockey shift knob. You could hold a microphone or pistol while jamming gears with the heal of your hand. I was once very skilled shooting with my left hand. Nobody has great aim while riding a horse or motorcycle. Except in the movies.
The black rubber piece you pointed out under the fairing is a placeholder for a garage door opener. Indian Motorcycle sells them and they're super easy to install. Works great!
I own a 2019 HD limited with a 114ci motor. I rode the Indian before going with another Harley. I didn’t like the seating position and I like that my Harley has apple car play. The Indian exhaust also cooked my leg.I did like the locking bags and adjustable windshield though.
I remember the video about never buying another Indian but here you are I am hard core Harley fan but the Evo is the bike and for me it has all the power this old man needs I have well over fifty years behind bars and 4 decades on Harley
3 things that I am super impressed with. Indian's suspension; nearly TWICE that of a HD at the rear end. An adjustable screen. Very handy for when you need protection, or down when you want the breeze. The details; lockable panniers; a pocket at the front with USB port and room for your mobile phone. Super impressive motor with a great note. (Did I mention details)? It's the sort of bike that would have me looking back to admire it as I walk away. And that's after over 40 years of Harleys.
Street Glide Special, I bought one this year, 1 I do not trust Polaris after they axed victory the moment they got Indian. 2 there are not enough dealers around for me to get services or anything else I may want to take it to the shop for(closest one to me is an hour away), 3 I do not like the look of them, too many curves 4 the aftermarket is much more limited, due to them not being around as long. After watching the video: 5 I have the RDRS system on mine, so having tire pressure monitoring, traction control and a rain mode so, no advantage there. 6 The 111 is comparable to the 114, so I do not see an advantage there, they are both aircooled engines with push rods. This video did not change my mind, at all.
Don't Forget the 3 Indian has leds from the factory. The power windshield. The remote locking bags. And choice of front fender. Just things to consider. Snd your right about the aftermarket scene so tricking out your Indian takesa little more effort which IMO makes it that much more impressive
@@jonathantyree8172 LEDs are easily solved with a bulb replacement. there are several very affordable bulbs for H4 sockets. a 30 dollar bulb is not going to stop me, also you can buy after market entire assemblies for 200-400 dollars. That is not a huge issue. The windshield is w/e it reminds me of the people that get detachable windshields, 99% of the time it is ether off or on, there are very few people that will put it on or take it off regularly. I am pretty sure most people will find a window setting, and leave it. My choice of fender? I like the Harley stock fender, do not care. Remote locking bags is the only major plus I can see, and that alone will not make me consider the Indian. The novelty of that, is not enough. I don't know of many people that it would be enough for.
The Key to buying any motorcycle is service in your area. Love the motorcycle but the dealer I would have to deal with doesn't have a good Service Department.
@@chrisgotthat2435 Yea, I'm too old with heart disease and my hands and arms just bruise, break and bleed too much anymore for knuckle busting. @@rkba4923 All of those issues and you still ride a motorcycle, commendable really. HD will still charge a hefty price regardless though. Shitty indeed
I hauled motorcycles up to about three years ago. As far as heavy street bikes go, the Indian was the best by far. Best workmanship… Best balance when riding… Indian all the way
Currently have 18 indian Cheftain Classic like look better than new style look but it is growing on me. Rode Harley for 26 years still own 03 Wide Glide love both best feature of.Indian 5000 mile maint I change oil full synthetic myself simple about 80 bucks campare to 300 hd change 180 if you do it youself. Did ride Harley at Sturgis this year 2022 Ultra Limited Liked rider triangle slightly better on Harley not enough to justify cost difference
I would also prefer an Indian over a Harley. A big thing is, I don't do the glossy paint schemes. I love, particularly, the Matte White you can get Indians in. Plus I feel more comfortable on Indians and they don't shake you to death like a Harley.
Harleys from the last decade or so don't shake you to death. That's a thing from the old HDs. Just like they don't leak oil on the floor during storage anymore.
Tested them both. I found the Indian seemed to have a lower center of gravity and was more stable. The rear suspension on the SG was awful. I purposely took it down a rough road and thought my kidneys were going to come out of my side. H-D really needs to add some travel to the rear suspension. I bought the Indian and am very happy with it.
I have a 2019 Road Glide. My buddy has a 2020 Chieftain. We swapped for a fee hours when we were in the blue ridge mountains. Both nice bikes for sure, but we both agreed, we like the Road Glide better... as long as money isn't an issue. The price difference per feature tho, the Indian wins.
My Harley Electra Glide Classic developed a high speed wobble so I bought a new front motor mount and started researching how to change the rear motor mounts / isolators. Before I did anything I checked the tire pressures. Damn, I had been riding on only 24 psi when my tires should be 32 psi. Now no wobble. Tire pressure monitoring is nice. Getting on your knees with a $1.99 tire pressure gauge once a week is probably sufficient. I had not checked the pressures for months so I was very wrong. Would I buy an Indian? Not at the price. I am happy with my 1988 Evolution Harley.
32? I've always ran mine at 38-40 in the rear (depending if you have a passenger) and 36 up front. If you run Avon tires, you will want to be a couple lbs higher than that.
I've owned a few HDs, while I love their styling, I don't much care for the company itself...I'd love to give that Indian a try...and I love that red paint job...
My wife surprised me with a 2019 chieftain for my 40th birthday and I love it. It’s sporty when I need it to be and comfy all at the same time. The gear mechanism for the windshield is made of plastic and WILL fail. The replacement off of eBay or Amazon is between $36-$45 and about 2-3 hours of your time to replace.
I tested a couple 2019 Chieftains. I really like it. In the end I went with another Harley (Street glide) but I still think the Indian Chieftain gives you more bang for your buck. LED lights all around. Harley still ships Street glides with regular halogen headlights.
@@warrenstemphly5756 I didn't say the Indian was better. I did like it though. I also thought it was a good value. I've been wanting to test ride the Challenger with the new motor but I'm afraid I'll trade my bike in immediately. ha ha.
"Someone put HD highway pegs on this thing, you cant do that!". Best line I've heard all week. Great video, I like HD and Indian, both awesome bikes IMO.

Sean I have a 2019 Chieftain and love it. Street Glide is a great bike too, and there are so many other great bikes. For me, I selected the Chieftain for the handling, the bells and whistles and to be different. The other thing was something you pointed out about the fairing height. I came off a non fairing bike and was concerned about visibility, when I rode the Chieftain I didn't even notice the fairing after a few miles. Here is the final word, ride what you can afford, what you want and what you like, I know I will. Peace
I have my 2015 Harley Davidson Roadglide 103 Stage 2 . Mileage is under 5 K ! But I want to ride that Indian bad ! You have all the fun Brother I need to keep praying more for what I can do for others !
Indian has been doing a lot of demo rides this spring and I'm sure they will keep going through the summer. I rode a few of their bike and my favorite was easily the Chieftain.
What kills Indian for me is access to the dealer network. Even though Harley has dropped a shit load of smaller dealerships, you can still find one easily. The closest Indian dealer for me is over 100 miles away. It is what it is and Polaris should consider this.
Brought my 2023 Indian Challenger Dark Horse home about a month ago. Traded in my beloved 2016 Fatboy. Couldn't be happier! Indian is making some great bikes! All good in my opinion, as Harley gets lazy unless they have competition.
I have a 2016 Victory Magnum, I wish I could find stuff for it, Polaris quit making them so most of the aftermarket companies quit making parts for them, other than that I love it, I have no regrets buying it
Hey love all your videos👌🏻 i would pick the Indian Chieftain above any other bike. The 111ci and 116ci powerstroke enignes are so amazing. The technology in the bike is really incredible and the handling is excellent sharp and precise. And it looks so beautiful 👌🏻😁 my ultimate dreambike.for sure. Greetings from Holland
I have owned five HDs and still have my Dyna. I loved my 2010 FLHX for a while and after putting lots of parts and care into it I got tired of repairing it so I bought a used 2016 Victory Magnum Stealth X1 after Victory closed down the plant. I loved Victory so much I bought a used 2016 Vision Tour. Both bikes had only 9K miles and I bought them dirt cheap. After riding them and getting used to all the room I cannot imagine going back to a smaller bike. However, if I HAD to pick between any HD or any Indian I'd pick an Indian. I feel that Polaris takes better care building a robust vehicle and way better care of their customers. I am aware that not everyone feels that way especially those who paid too dollar for new Victorys and felt betrayed when Polaris killed Victory. I have never owned a HD M8 but I've ride a few and it didn't make me want to get back on an HD. I would be more interested in the Indian Challenger if I were to buy a new one. My 15 cents.
I test rode both and purchased the Indian. Better suspension and handling, to me anyway. When slow turning with the Street Glide I could feel the weight of the fairing. Not so much with the Chieftain. I get a lot of compliments on the looks of the bike as well.
Um their not shovel heads anymore lol. Actually the new 19 and up Indians probably has more issues than the M8. I can't stand the refined M8 because of the scissor gear now. Sounds like a Honda. Might as well get a Honda and have very little issues. Me, i have a twinkie and a hayabusa. Best of both worlds.
That's a foolish remark. I have a 11 street glide with 80k miles. Doesn't leak a drop of oil and starts every time. That being said I would definitely consider buying an Indian. Like other comments I like to customize my rode and with the Harley it's easier
Let’s also remember how with a Harley your paying a 10x value premium just for a name. Harley Davidson is failing as a business and it’s clear as to why. They haven’t even claimed a profit in years, the last however many years Harley is claiming millions and millions in losses on taxes. I’d love to own a Harley as well one day, but the premium your paying for the name is unreal when your not getting much for your money. Are there great Harley Davidsons out there? Yes absolutely..... as a whole tho, harleys are bullshit. Your right about Indians starting to sound like Honda’s but hey Honda’s can be great bikes aswell.
I have had 6 bikes in two years. Each time I had a harley (non-touring model), it got traded in for a touring model from Indian. On a Challenger now and it will probably be the last bike I have for a while. Loved my Chieftain when it had it, just ran out of stuff I wanted to do to it. Bars, heated grips, Nav, Stage 2, locking bags, someone got a great deal when I traded it on a built out bike.
Great bike Sean, thanks for sharing that. I suspect you’ll have a couple more coming as you’ve probably accidentally ordered another two from Amazon by scanning the bar codes. Haha 😂. Great Bible text. Regards, Bob M. South Wales
I bought the Scout in April to get back on a bike after 30+ years. Loved it! I’m now looking at the Chieftain or Challenger. Demo ride in a few days then the decision. Harleys are great I’m sure. But I do lean towards the look of these beautiful Indian bikes. Thanks for the great review and video.
What all you people need to realize is that it is made by one of the sleaziest companies in America according to my opinion only. But I am a victory owner, and if Polaris decides they're not making money on you, you're going to be holding a bike without parts. They have no customer loyalty at all. Stick with Harley
@@eldonfenton3504 that's a big "if". Polaris got it right with the new Indians. Dealers can't keep them on the floor but that's ok because they need room for all the Harley trade-ins. Looks like Indian is here to stay which is a good thing for competition. Harley-Davidson knows they have to step it up. Currently, there's no comparison. Indian ride and quality far outweigh Harley at this point. For now, it's fun to watch the crowd gather around the Indian amongst the boatload of Harleys in the parking lot. Ride safe!

Indian all the way , I’ve got both , are you F ing kidding me? I’ve been on two wheels since I was four years old , I’m now 64 , there’s a reason Harley retooled 3 times , after Indian re released in 2014 !! Reality and research !!! Better yet , ride both and see for yourself!!!!!!!!
Tbat's fine, just remember, when you go to trade it,or sell it,you'll NEVER get back anywhere near what you put into it.
Yeah, I’ve been sold on the Indian Motorcycles for the past couple of years. They make some great looking products and I haven’t heard anything negative about any of their motorcycles, at all.
Yes,also huge amounts of dealers on the highway if you get into a jam .
People are knocking Harley for high prices, but have you seen Indian? 20k will put me on preowned streetglide but if 20k is your budget you have no business even looking at Indian, at least in Michigan

Indian by far, have a 2018 chieftain. Had a street glide and the handling and feel just wasn’t on par with Indian
That’s the garage door opener under the right side of the fairing. Have the same bike in black pearl. Hands down best fit and finish
I just purchased a 2014 Indian Chief Classic and it is Fantastic I have had multiple Harley's of all types but love the Indian it is a Numbered Bike the first 111 Bikare Stamped mine is Number 67 of 111 it has a few Extras Pipes,Chrome California Covers ,Foot Boards in leather and chrome, Carry Rack only 1,270kms when I purchased it and I absolutely love it, NEVER Fails to draw a Crowd and so many positive comments.
Funny I may trade my 2013 road glide for a 2021 chieftain
I've owned/ridden both the HD Glide(s) & most of the recent Indian models & while I love them all, my Victory Cross Country Tour is the best "bagger" motorcycle I've EVER ridden! Hands down.
There you go...proud of you...you're a leader not a follower!!!
I would have a tough time picking between the two. Luckily I am absolutely in love with my 2020 Heritage Classic 114.
Yup that is what I am looking for in the spring
And millions of other rider's
Bought our 2019 chieftain 2 weeks ago and we love it. My parents are Harley people but we like the chieftains look better. Both are great bikes, but the style suits us better. Already got 1400 miles on it!
As long as you're happy riding it that's all that matters.
rode the 21 CVO road glide and street glide and the 21 chieftain, without a doubt i’ll take the chieftain. not even close!
I got rid of my harley and bought an Indian 3 years ago and I am 100% glad I did.

Yes I would buy this over any HD and I really like what they did to the frame where they stamped their name right into it
I've had an adjustable windshield for the last 12 years.
I would choose the Chieftain over the HD. 3 reasons;
My Dad had a 48 Chief Police bike, it had a left hand throttle ( so they could shoot )

@@mixalis6168 I have and like Harley, but c’mon Indians aren’t bad bikes.

End of video.......Street Glide
I would and have purchased a Street Glide. Twice. Still in love with it.
Great video! 👍 I'd go with the Cheiftain over the Street Glide any day. Both great bikes, but I dont wanna be just another Harley lol
And that's after over 40 years of Harleys.
which hd? i just saw 3.6(flhtk) vs 4.6 on an rm. or is that wrong?
that was rear, front was the same at 4.6
Street Glide Special, I bought one this year, 1 I do not trust Polaris after they axed victory the moment they got Indian.
This is probably the best comment I've came across about this debate. Well said.
Don't Forget the 3 Indian has leds from the factory. The power windshield. The remote locking bags. And choice of front fender. Just things to consider. Snd your right about the aftermarket scene so tricking out your Indian takesa little more effort which IMO makes it that much more impressive
They have plenty of dealers
Just look for the 4 wheelers and
Watercraft out front 🤣🤣

I bought a Chieftain Limited Icon, it is a great machine with more features than the Street Glide, but I also have a RGS which is still KING IMHO!

38-40psi all day. Check them 1-2 times a week religiously

I think you’re on the right track with the Challenger. I just got a ‘21 and its a beast. It’s got Victory DNA throughout and that’s a good thing IMO.
I test rode both and purchased the Indian. Better suspension and handling, to me anyway. When slow turning with the Street Glide I could feel the weight of the fairing. Not so much with the Chieftain. I get a lot of compliments on the looks of the bike as well.
Dude looks like Hector from “Troy.”
I have that exact bike and I love it.
No you don’t
Indian hands down:::: I like to keep oil in my bike not under it. Also I’d rather spend the time riding it instead of working on it
Um their not shovel heads anymore lol. Actually the new 19 and up Indians probably has more issues than the M8. I can't stand the refined M8 because of the scissor gear now. Sounds like a Honda. Might as well get a Honda and have very little issues. Me, i have a twinkie and a hayabusa. Best of both worlds.
🤦🏾♂️ obviously you know nothing about Harley's.
That's a foolish remark. I have a 11 street glide with 80k miles. Doesn't leak a drop of oil and starts every time. That being said I would definitely consider buying an Indian. Like other comments I like to customize my rode and with the Harley it's easier
You know nothing about motorcycle turn your Internet off now
Let’s also remember how with a Harley your paying a 10x value premium just for a name.
Only way up from that performance would be a Goldwing.
Great bike Sean, thanks for sharing that. I suspect you’ll have a couple more coming as you’ve probably accidentally ordered another two from Amazon by scanning the bar codes. Haha 😂. Great Bible text. Regards, Bob M. South Wales

I did buy the 2021 Chieftain in December. It’s a lot of bike and I love it!
Ride safe!
I'd get the street glide. I prefer the looks, availability of customization as well as resale value later on.
