  • This shows the install of the JB4 I picked up from someone off the Audizine forum. It will show how to install all of the harnesses and get the unit installed. I will cover the app connections in another video. Below are links that you might read through for information.

    hey man, you seem to be really the only person with the JB4 on this platform. i want to get JB4 for its map changing and customization. could you do a run through of the maps for this car i cant even find what all they change. i really want to go jb4 over a flash tune to be able to read my IATs, AFRs, temps etc so a really in depth run through would be so appreciated as it seems you’d be the only one doing it. thanks

    For cleaning an engine bay I sorta follow what Obsessed Garage does. Rinse, foam, scrub, rinse then mist with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing. Do that as a first step, close the hood and wash the rest of the car as normal. After the exterior is done pop the hood and give a slight wipe of any puddles or missed spots and you're set. Letting it dry naturally leaves a clean, not too shiny look. Really is the perfect product. From there I'd use a damp MF towel to wipe down the engine bay during normlal washes and in between engine bay cleans.
    Word of warning! If you have a hood liner skip sprayin it with foam/soap. Did it once on my Golf R and no matter how many times I rinsed it with the pressure warsher I never could all the soap out. Drove me crazy.
    Annoying part is Hyper Dressing is(was?) only sold by the gallon which is way too much as I do a 50:50 water blend. May only use it twice a year so it's just too much product which ended up going to waste.
    CarPro PERL is amazing on tires so I want to try it next on engine bay.

      @@vm200 I still have it on. I think it is the perfect answer for the person that doesn’t want to put a flash tune on and mess with their warranty. This still isn’t fool proof for that but it is a safer route. I think the power is perfect as well, feel like what it should have come with.

      You’re welcome. Most video’s don’t get into the details and I am all about them 😁. I am trying to remember if I have taken it in for service since I put it on. I am for sure going in for service in Nov and I don’t plan on taking it off. My dealership is pretty cool and they will tell me if they have to get into something more than what I brought it in for.

      @midtenn_life  2 роки тому +2

      Hey there! So my initial thoughts are that it has been a nice upgrade. I can feel the additional, roughly, 60-70 HP since I am on Map 3 (93 octane). For the price of it, it has been a no brainer. I have also just jumped in a group buy for an intake so will be interesting to see what that does also. I will keep driving on it and there are some other things I want to post, just need the time.

      Well, a few weeks ago I traded the SQ5 in. Up until then I had zero issues and it was a noticeable difference in performance. I had taken it into the dealer a few times with it on, all I did was disconnect the ODBII plug. They never said a word about it.

    So the jb4 box doesnt void warranty?

    • @midtenn_life
      @midtenn_life  2 роки тому +2

      I think that is a touchy question and might have multiple answers. Unlike a flash tune (APR/Unitronic/034/etc) that rewrites information to your cars ECU along with the ECU having a way to know it has been flashed, the JB4 "intercepts" certain signals and "tricks" the ECU into thinking the values are different. This allows it to add some power and torque. By intercepting it makes it less obvious that something has been done. Now if Audi wanted to dig really deep I am more than positive they could find something that would look a little different, maybe the peak boost level is higher than they know it could be without help or whatever.
      Only reason I am using it for now is that I have a really good CPO warranty and I want to try and keep it as long as I can.

    • @anthonywallace319
      @anthonywallace319 Рік тому

      @@midtenn_life Yes this is correct. I had a JB4 in my B9 S5 (which I'm moving over to my now RS 5), and eventually went with an ECU/TCU tune. I actually left the JB4 connected for my 30k service and my dealer didn't say anything. It doesn't mess with the ECU, it tricks it, so when they plug their scanner in to read your car, it won't throw a TD1. For reference, when I switched to the 034 tune, I took my car in for a recall and forgot to flash it back to stock, and my service rep texted me saying that my car was flagged by their system as a TD1, but they are still going to take care of my recall and a warranty TSB I had for the AC Evap.
      Thats not to say they can't void your warranty for having a JB4, but its best to just disconnect it. JB4 itself won't throw a TD1 like a tune will, but if something happens to your engine, and the JB4 is there, the dealership has the option to deny you warranty service due to having an aftermarket engine mod. So thats why its easier to just remove or unplug it, and drive it for a bit before taking it in.

      @@anthonywallace319 if I do service in the dealership (like an oil change), should I put it off and remove JB4 before going to the dealership? WIll they notice it is here if I leave everything as is?

      @@davidmusiyenko4158 appreciate it. I don't think I will ever get to the point where I will swap for a hybrid turbo or anything like that, but getting into 11's at some point would be nice. I have always loved a sleeper car and this would be perfect for that. The warranty is the biggest thing on the plate since we are going to "try" to keep this one for a while and I just don't want to mess that up. I know all about the tunes and for sure would be better than the JB4, but not trying to get TD1'ed LOL
