Thanks for making this man! Really in depth, I just got mine from the group buy too!

Oh nice! I am enjoying it a lot. Gas mileage has gone down from staying in boost to hear it more 😂

hello Lance, nice work as usual. But I'm not sure that the open box model that sucks hot air from the engine is more efficient than the same filter in the original box (which I did with a KN filter).

A long time ago I was in this same state of mind, hot air = not good. As I was deciding what I wanted to do the main thing I kept seeing where all these companies had only carbon fiber intakes that cost like $1k. I don't have $1k laying around to spend on something like this, so I looked into open air vs enclosed and it seems that they both have their pluses and minuses. To me it came down to cost vs what am I really getting out of it, a few HP maybe and maybe a few more with the enclosed unit. I just really wanted the turbo noises and for the price of this kit I got what I wanted.

Nice video. When you sold car, did you take off the intake? I’m having trouble taking off the screws that attach the bracket to car. Thanks!

Good job on the video Lance! That's a cool wand light. Is it rechargeable?

Thank you. Yes, it is. Here is a link to the company that sells them. Looks like there are more options now than when I got this one. Harbor Freight also sells something pretty silimar

Can you actually hear a big difference while driving and getting into boost? I installed a diverter spacer and you can basically only hear it when the hood is popped while revving the engine... The SQ5 seems to have an extremely well insulated hood or something to not be able to hear any engine noises. I don't wanna only have that nice turbo sound with my hood popped 😅

    Hey Lance,
I know this video was posted a while ago but I have to ask did you get your intake in a reasonable amount of time after ordering it from roc euro? I keep seeing all these reviews of people ordering stuff from them and not getting it for months. I know on the website it says 1 to 3 day shipping for ground orders. I was just wondering if you had a good experience with them before I buy it.

Hey, Stephen! Hmm....I think I did get it in a reasonable amount of time. There was a group buy on Audizine when I did it and a vendor, Nemesis Autosport, headed it up I believe. Sorry you are having a rough time with it.

I've never seen a wing but used on a car.
I would only get an intake if it had a cover to keep most of the engine heat out and trap in the air from the duct. Thanks for the video though.

The wing nut was pretty unusual but it did the job. I think a better intercooler will help out more than the intake. Open vs enclosed is something that has been being argued for a long time and it just depends on what you are wanting out of the kit that you get. IMO that is.

    Impact driver next time please

Impact driver was not needed on this project, in fact it could have been over kill. With this using wing nuts vs bolts/nuts there could have been a chance the impact over torqing them and I didn't want to have to deal with broken stuff. So being able to set the clutch on my drill was good enough, it is solidly in place.

My God $300 is robbery for just a heat shield and air filter.i hate that this is the only thing in stock Right now :/

    • @midtenn_life
      @midtenn_life  2 роки тому +1

Maybe, but you don't think $1k is robbery either just because it is made out of carbon fiber? I think that is the part I hate, I never pop my hood to show off the engine bay so I don't see the need for all the CF stuff under there. Isn't there a material below CF that can be used also that brings the cost down?? I mean it can't be for weight savings, there are other items that tick that box quicker.

@@midtenn_life yeah I think 1k for carbon fiber os insane as well but I feel like at least those companies actually give u a quality product. Cts said they will be making a kit this summer for the sq5 so that should at least be cheaper and come with more in the kit. Unfortunately I'm turning my sq5 back into carmax tomorrow. Carmax rubbed me the wrong way a ton of non knowledgeable employees through out that entire company.
