Just finished reading my Minelab Equinox 800 manual, I can't wait to start hunting.
One thing I noticed was when you were setting your iron Fe setting to zero you forgot to press the accept/ reject button which takes you to the F2 Iron setting which detects a wider range and some iron the the Fe iron setting doesn't per the Manual. Have to remember that the F2 settings work best when doing all metal mode with iron tone audible which you stated you would be doing.
Also ground balance auto tracking is the default and recommended for when gold prospecting and manual ground balancing is not in the advanced settings.
Sorry as I'm not trying to be critical because it is a lot to comprehend let alone explain which you did a great job but it's also important for new people to fully understand all of theses various settings and how to use them to our advantage.
    Very nice video.

A very useful tip I was told by a friend, is when pinpointing with the Garrett handheld pin pointer (or any pin pointer) to save getting back on your feet to re-locate a target with your metal detector (target may be out of handheld pointer range) if you use your digging tool as an aerial by placing the tip of digger on the top of the pin pointer and sliding it down until pointer starts to 'chirp' then back it off to silence it you gain much more depth than by normal use - Very useful especially if you are getting on in years - Cheers Linno

This is the best break down and explanation of how to recover deep targets. One of my nicest coins is a 1775 kg3 that was a one way beep that was around 12 inches .. it was just enough to say dig me and I’m glad I did because the condition was fantastic another one was iron grunt on the max with a high tone right next to it ..usually bigger iron can give these signals off to the side and because I dug a liberty cap nearby I dug everything and on edge was the most beautiful green Connecticut copper that I had gods blessing to reveal with my brother ! Great video i have had my nox about 800 about a year and a half/2 years running the coiltek 15in and loving that upgrade have recently started trying advanced settings found your video very helpful and easy too understand thank you so much for that
I used too hunt in mode 1 when i started then moved onto mode 2
    "park 1/park 2"
I hear mode 1 focuses on lower frequencies even though its in milti frequency and does that it emphasizes on the lower frequencies in mode 1 giving you more depth as apposed too mode too so im deciding which mode is for better depth considering moving back too mode 1 but am a bit unsure of which mode is better for depth or was i given bad info on that
Also will start tying field modes out looks great
Also hear running 50 tones as apposed too 5 helps with giving stable target id numbers?
Wpuld you reccomend iron f2 over the old fe
    Been running f2
    Kind regards,
    Chris from sydney Australia :)

If you would fix your coil wire, it will help you a lot with the ground balancing and optimal performance! It will also help you save money due to not loosen the insulation within the packing of the cables / wiring
circuit. Especially w/ a 15” coil but it’s recommended for all.
You run the wire straight up the rod by using cable ties separating the wire from lower rod. Be sure u leave a little-slack to account for when laying machine down and coil lays flat. Then start wrapping your cable when reaching secondary rod and using the velcro strap to help with keeping the cable tight and out of the way. Just something I learned from the Sr. Engineer at Minelab. Not too many of them tell you this because they want to sell you more coils and for you to send machine in for service when you cannot figure out what’s wrong after warranty. They are great company but are just like every company, they wNt to make profits! Just like the Auto Makers do not give you ALL the best practices when selling you a new car! They are wanting the service work and parts revenue later down the road. 👁

I watch this video almost a year ago and it was helpful then... and I just rewatched it today and I picked up a couple things that I missed the first time ....and I'll tell you why.... I hear many equinox users pushing hard on that 4K... And I think single frequency is great and certain situations... they don't have that in Beach mode just multi so I've never really used it.... And to be honest I upgraded one of my 800s to the latest version.. and I really didn't like it so I took it back down to the previous version.... So multi is what I used cuz of the beach... But recently I've started doing some inland searching here in Florida so it will be helpful possibly some scenarios...great video..... I'm looking forward to the new release from minelab for the new equinox. Good luck and happy hunting.

I am going to run park 1 and Field 2 in the same locations and see what pops up. I use the Field 2 settings and found two dimes and three more pennies, but the location is the size of 1/2 a football field. I do have one question about the saved settings. When we save a setting is that for all 8 search profiles or just the location the profile that was changed. Also when we start the 800 do I need to press the user profile button or will the program start with the boot up. Thank you for the videos and help

    • @SodBustersMetalDetecting

In most cases you don't even need to ground balance unless you are in a highly mineralized area. If you ground balance I recommend you ground balance every so often as the ground changes from one spot to another so you may need to gb throughout the day even.

Interesting video. Just curious if you have a test garden. I would recommend using the threshold at an just audio level. When a target gets beyond the “faint signal “ and the detector does not give you an audio response you still could catch it with a “ghost whisper” which you will hear as a break in your threshold. Just a friendly tip. I’ve been able to get silver with my nox 800 at 14 inches. Appreciate your video , thanks for sharing.

Hello, thank you very much for the informed videos you upload, I have a question for you about your experience with the two Minelab metal detectors.
My question is: Can you provide me with settings of Minelab Equinox 800 only for native gold in the river and on the shore, which settings are analogous to the depth as of Minelab gold monster 1000
    thank you in advance

    • @SodBustersMetalDetecting
      @SodBustersMetalDetecting  3 роки тому

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Gold Monster so I can't really give you comparisons. The equinox has 2 gold prospecting modes and is very sensitive to even the smallest pieces. Both the depth and setting will be dependent on the ground conditions and the coil you use.

dose the 600 have the same setting options as the 800? When using multi freq dose having the extra 20,40 of the 800 help?
I'm getting ready to buy one and if I go with the 600 I don't want to later regret that I did not buy the 800.

I am really impressed with the reviews on Minelab metal detectors. What is your take though on the Vanquish 540 versus say the Equinox 600 or 800? It seems to have a lot of the same settings as the 800 and the price is 300.00 cheaper. It does operate in multiply frequencies, but Minelab nor anyone else seems to know the frequencies? Any information on it would be great!

I just got done watching a depth test video and came over here and I've seen many of your videos BTW and thanks I like your videos! OK this dude buried a dime at 11" the nox picked it up when set at 10kz but it would not pick it up in multi freq so that multi I guess depends on the target. Side note there's this guy on here with many "expert" tutorials says you can't use a single freq for beach hunting you have to use a multi freq machine, that is total BS. anyway that's my .02 Cheers

I just got a used 800. It's chirping like crazy in my back yard, I did a factory reset, noise cancel and ground balance with no luck. I live in a rural area, so not a lot of power lines or interference. Tried in several parts of my 1 acre yard. Cable is wound tight and screwed in tight. I've removed the coil cover and thoroughly cleaned it and the coil. I've tried changing channels and none make it quiet. The only thing that helps is to lower the sensitivity to 7 or 8 and then it's quiet, but I've just lost a lot of depth. I've put my phone on airplane mode with no luck. I also updated the firmware which was really old, but that didn't help either.
    Thoughts?

Having tried what you recommend about setting full on iron etc, I tried this and found one major problem, the Nox now finds much more, but most is just trash. If detecting in areas where there is an abundance of trash, I would not set my machine up as you suggest or you'll be doing a lot of useless digging!

Have you tested the influence of setting tones to 1 or 2 on the detecting depth? I always use 5 on my Nox 800, but heard that the higher the number of tones the more the detector's processor will be "loaded" and so there will be depth loss. The guy who made that comment said that 1 or 2 tones will give extra inches compared to, for instance, 50 tones.

    • @SodBustersMetalDetecting
      @SodBustersMetalDetecting  3 роки тому +1

I would have to test that. I always run 5 tones and have dug wheats down to 14 inches in good ground condition. I am interested in testing this though to see if there is validity to it. Thanks for sharing
