    I love Stellum. It actually reminds me of my first bottle of Rare Breed Rye. Unfortunately my second bottle of RBR doesn't give me the same experience, but I'm happy to have to Stellum to fill that void. Hopefully my second Stellum lives up to the hype i've placed on it.

    Alright....Erin sold me LOL. My wife and I just did a blind of 4 this past weekend, and we both picked the rye. That led to me pulling out a couple more ryes and she apparently is a rye fan. She's always been meh on a lot of the bourbons, but rye it is. I almost picked up the Stellum rye 3 weeks ago, had it in hand, but opted to put it back. But I will say seeing how much you guys (well Erin) loved it I'll definitely be picking it up. Right now my wife and I both love the 7yr Sagamore rye I have as our top rye. Thanks as always for the review and fun video!

      Cheers to that, Paul! And Sagamore Double Oak Rye is coming up on a first sip segment soon. No spoilers but Sagamore is on our radar.

    I'll be 45 on St. Patty's day, so I'm also not the target demographic, but watched the first movie with my daughter a little over 20 years ago. That intrigued me enough that I ordered the first 3 books, and those got me hooked. I re-read the series every time a new book was released, and even (no shame) belonged to a reading club and fan club. I've dialed it back some in the last 3 years, but still enjoy watching the movies. It - the books *and* the movies - are still my all time favorite series. I read & listened through the Dark Tower series about 7 years ago and also thoroughly enjoyed that, but have not seen the movie (I'm torn, based on reviews)...

    • @stuffandwhiskey

      We've steered clear of the Dark Tower movie ourselves for similar reasons, despite the cast being amazing, but we're THOROUGHLY enjoying the Potter series. Three books and three movies down as of the typing of this comment and we're starting the fourth book today. Cheers Ceezer!

      We forgot to mention the mouthfeel but that was quite surprising as well. Turns out they use some of the 51% rye, 49% malted barley MGP rye in the mashbill as well for that express purpose.

    I was drinking a Knob Creek SiB store pick 115 proof rye while watching. Erin inspired me to find my unopened bottle of Stellum rye which I bought a few months ago based on other reviews. Definitely a high rye rye, I really like it. Reminds me of some of the Willett 4 year old small batch rye which I love but at a much better price. Has great rye spice while avoiding the overly grassy vegital notes that can be off putting to me. As far as your other 3 picks, I concur with the first two but would pick the OF 1910 or 1920 over the 1897. Just had a tasting of the full Whiskey Row series and liked the 1910 best that day although I buy the 1920 more often. Cheers!

    • @stuffandwhiskey
      @stuffandwhiskey  2 роки тому

      Love it, Ferd! Good call on the Willett parallel, but Willett can get grassy and funky for us, so Stellum may end up being our winner around that proof and price point. We'll have to blind it to be sure, right? 1910 is definitely our favorite of the bunch. It actually wouldn't been included but we finished it off and haven't yet replaced it. Definitely the all-star in the Old Fo lineup for us. Cheers!

    Available!!! Six Thumbs (or is it 9?)! That was so much joy! I had a single barrel and a Stellum Black to choose from to join, so I went Black. I'll work my way to this bottle after I work through the three fancy New Riff Ryes I got last week. I'm still gonna go with yellow label WT picks, though I did open a black label pick before out latest snowpapocalypse, and it is growing on me. I was a teacher from about Harry book 3 on, and the coolest thing is how they gradually get more and more mature, book by book. Dark Tower was such a genre-bender!

    Nice! I have a bottle of Stellum rye that I haven't gotten around to opening yet but now I think I will soon. One candidate that I think should be on your list of available, lower proof bourbons that pack a lot of flavor is Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select. It's under 100 proof but it is very solid. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so.

    So I'm in Nashville as well and some of the things you say are readily available I can't seem to find anywhere i.e. rare breed rye... Even rare breed in general is hard to find. What stores are you getting these from? I would love to try some of these I've never seen in person

    • @stuffandwhiskey
      @stuffandwhiskey  2 роки тому

      Rare Breed bourbon and rye both come in waves right now in Nashville due to glass shortage and distribution, and supply seems to alternate (bourbon one month, rye the next). Across the area, no rye right now it’ll be back in a few weeks. The bourbon is around town right now. Just check a few stores until you run into it. Most stores just got stock last week and as of Monday it was still in plentiful stock on shelves in half a dozen stores I stopped at (and a few stores had none). This isn’t altogether different from many “available” shelf products right now due to glass/distribution. What part of town are you in?
