Adrenaline. :) psp and ps1 games on my vita tv??? Yes please. But to play fair- I really liked freedom wars, killzone, xonic superbeat. The miku games. Binding of isaac works great portably.
Apparently modding vita is super easy and there exists 3rd party adapters that you can then use with normal mini sd cards. I started looking into it back when Sony was going to shut down the PS store on it, but then never got around to actually going through with it.
I wouldn't even mind the memory cards if they were not so ludicrously priced. And it might have helped them sell more units of they pointed out that it's a one time investment which can be more than made up for by the massive discounts, Cloud Saves, and the 2-6 "free" games they used to give out every month with a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Yup, i think between that and the high buy in price, it really drove the nails into the coffin. At least if it was only one of those things it couldve had at least a slightly bigger cult fandom but now....? Gosh poor handheld deserved so much better. Its even the comfiest size compared to both 3ds and switch for me so its a huge shame.

Those Vita exclusive memory cards were the main reason why the console tanked, if you ask me. I remember that that was the sole reason why I sold mine. They cost waaay more than regular memory cards and were completely needed if you wanted to play digital games (which represented the vast majority of games on the console that I was interested in). Besides that, I loved the console. Gravity Rush is one of my favourite games and I quite loved Freedom Wars and other Monster Hunter-like games that the console had (besides being a great platform to play old games like Sly Cooper).
Man, I LOVED the vita!! The hardware is great (weird rear touchpad aside), the screen is gorgeous and the few exclusives it got were generally great. However, as someone that has a hard time getting into JRPGs and isn’t really a fan of anime, there just wasn’t much to play on it after a while :/
Before watching: if "Freedom Wars" and "Toukiden: Age of Demons" don't show up in this, I'm gonna be mildly upset. Edit: Am mildly upset, but he did mention "Muramasa", so it's forgivable
Soul sacrifice wasn't on it either which is a massive disappointmwnt. Freedom wars, toukiden, god eater 2 and soul sacrifice were the vita replacement for mh and all of them were great by its own right. Soul sacrifice was the best among the 4.
Soul Sacrifice and Gravity Rush are two physical games I own for Vita. And Muramasa are only one of few that I bought digitally...now thinking about physical version just for the sake of it.
Stop being a cheap nintendrone and get a high paying job to afford all these games instead of the overhyped Nintendo switch. It has flaws and underpowered at 30fps. Stop being a Nintendo switch fanboy
Great to see you put this out in 2021 Right now I've been on a vita binge, (singing the praises of the device to my friends) and trying to find good games to play, physical and digital. So this really hits the spot
So awesome that you made this. Finally someone that doesn’t talk about the same ten Vita games! Please make a part two of this video. The Vita community is starved for decent content. We have some great creators but it’s always great to have another good one! 👍
Muramasa:Rebirth and it's DLC is one of my favorite games ever, and a really underappreciated game on the vita THANK YOU for giving it the praise it deserves
I bought one on a whim years ago when I found it cheap (with Tales of Hearts being the only exclusive I wanted at the time) and I somehow still use it regularly to this day. Sony did this device no favors though, the memory card issue has never not pissed me off, I don't feel bad for installing CFW and using an SD adapter.
I love my Vita both during and after its heyday, and I genuinely wish it was more successful. Stuff like cross-buy, cross-saving, and cross-play becoming more popular with developers between the Vita/PS3/PS4 along with having Remote Play integration with all PS4 games makes me imagine a timeline where if the Vita was successful, we'd be looking at a world where Sony's next handheld console would have been a rival to the Switch with full TV integration and the ability to seamlessly switch between the two modes of play. Ah, a man can dream of what could have been.
Bro the entire utawarerumono trilogy is a master peice in story telling & world building, they crafted an entire living breathing culture & interconneted nations for wut used to be a goddamn eroge, so glad they revived the franchise into wut it is today & seriously deserves more eyes on it.... also muramasa is amazing thank u for shedding some light on my poor baby, that game needs a modern port
The PSP also continue to have a steady good run because it quickly became easily modable/hackable. It still my favorite portable console for that reason alone tbh XD
For anyone who is interested in Muramasa on the Vita, the DLC is also really good. It's a series of little short stories with very different takes on the combat system. Also, includes a boss fight with a tanuki and his giant magical scrotum (this is not a joke)
Nice. You’ve convinced me to pick up Muramasa. I’ve bought around 40 physical vita games in the last month 😅 I live in Japan and they’re so cheap 2nd hand here
oh man i hope that Onechanbara tease at the end was not a joke, i love that series even the early ones before the combat was refined and would love to see you cover it
Nice placing the monster world iv town theme during the ad bit. Could barely hear it but was happy to catch it, love that game immensely. Also great video!
Usually "forgotten" games are ones I already remember or know about, but in this case there were actually 2 that I've never heard of or knew about so good job my dude 👍
Great video. I got my Vita for 10 almost 10 years now and there's still so much to play. I remember I got Oreshika a few years ago but didn't get to play it yet, only heard great things about it.
Muramasa Rebirth isn't just among my favorite PS Vita games of all time. It is my second favorite video game of all time after, coincidentally enough, Persona 4 Golden. Muramasa: The Demon Blade sparked my love of Vanillaware in general back when I played it as a teen on the Wii, and so I got the Vita edition as quick as I could. It definitely deserves the Odin Sphere Leifrasir treatment with an even further enhanced port on the PS4 or, I don't care if it's too much to ask for, enhancements on the PS5 that could let it truly shine. On that note, GrimGrimoire is one of a kind, and I love it to death. And it's stuck on the PS2 to this day.
I picked up Unit 13 on a whim. I was in a rare mood for a shooter, and gave it a shot. I remember struggling with the game at first, but once I got used to the controls and gameplay, it was a surprisingly fun game. I would argue that Book of Memories is not a bad game, but IS a bad Silent Hill game. I kinda feel like BoM was originally developed as it's own IP, but then Konami came in and slathered it in Silent Hill paint to perhaps boost it's sales. Ya know, kinda like what happened with Dinosaur Planet, cause those bosses in BoM feel like they belong in a dark fantasy game rather than Silent Hill. If there was any game that I wish could get ported from the Vita it would have to be Soul Sacrifice.
I actually enjoyed Silent Hill: Book of Memories though I was surprised when it got mentioned after I asked for Diablo-like games on the Vita. I still find it odd that there were so few for the Vita despite there being so many for the PSP (I got both my Vita and my PSP for Christmas 2016 but I knew the PSP was coming in advance and didn't expect the Vita so I had a stockpile of PSP games waiting but had to build my Vita collection from scratch) I blame Sony for this because they abandoned the Untold Legends series after the PS3 game.
Loving all these new uploads, Austin. You do great work. Please take care of yourself. I'll send you positive vibes and hope for your continued success.
Things about this video that made me happy -You acknowledged those hilarious live action Army Corp commercials I actually remember loving -You informed me Sorcery Saga has been ported elsewhere, so I just bought it on Steam for 4 bucks Things about this video that made me sad -Lack of Mind=Zero, which isn't a good game, but one I definitely think should be talked about more.
I’m sad you didn’t mention Soul Sacrifice. That was the first hunting style game I ever really really enjoyed. It also saved me a lot of boredom when I was deployed along with Guacameele.
@@shipu302 I have never had anyone recommend that game lol. It’s also still trapped on the Vita so the number of people who actually know about it isn’t going to be that high.
Oh I love the Vita. I got an original model Vita as a gift and I still use it regularly. I jailbroke it during lockdown and loaded RetroArch on there. Now it's my most played system.
Onichanbara is one of those series that is way better than it has any right to be, and yet still manages to be about as abysmally average as possible. Totally looking forward to your video on it :)
For me, Freedom Wars has to be the best Vita game. I spend MONTHS and almost two years playing that thing because it was so fun and while I never got to beat the hardest missions because I seem to sucked more than usual, I got the platinum trophy and I wish they could at least make a follow up, maybe on the ps4 or ps5... That ending leave me with so much questions!!! Also... I want to believe is actually connected to God Eater and Code Vein XD
Personally I can't believe Muramasa: The Demon Blade is on this list. I've not played the vita port but the Wii game is probably among my top 5 wii games ever. It is just so beautiful.
Man I loved my Vita. There WERE a lot of problems, but it put out a lot; really powerful for a handheld, great fee in the hands. Wouldn’t have minded nicer triggers, but that’s the only flaw I have with construction. Glad to see any appreciation for it.
Oh man i love Muramasa! I played that game to near completion and that is saying something, because i usually just play games for the story. It was just so beautiful! The Blood line game i played as well but never finished i hated loosing my characters... Also both of the Tokiden games were on the Vita, and as i rarely play anything other than a hand held or PC anymore i played the heck out of those two games!
Kinda funny to refer to SH Book of Memories (they should've just dropped the Silent Hill from the title ..) as "forgotten", since Everybody & their Grandmother (!) has been talking about it due to its meteoric rise in price on the trading sites. 😁 Nice vid, thanks Austin.

Edit: Am mildly upset, but he did mention "Muramasa", so it's forgivable
Freedom Wars deserve more recognition :3 Love the game!
Soul sacrifice wasn't on it either which is a massive disappointmwnt. Freedom wars, toukiden, god eater 2 and soul sacrifice were the vita replacement for mh and all of them were great by its own right. Soul sacrifice was the best among the 4.
Loved Unit 13. Such an underrated Vita game. Odd world Stranger's Wrath is probably one of my favorite download able games.
Soul Sacrifice and Gravity Rush are two physical games I own for Vita.
And Muramasa are only one of few that I bought digitally...now thinking about physical version just for the sake of it.
I'd kill for an HD release of Muramasa with all the DLC content, I didn't even know there was DLC until like a month ago.
Lumines: Electronic Symphony is a great version of Lumines, sadly trapped on Vita
Stop being a cheap nintendrone and get a high paying job to afford all these games instead of the overhyped Nintendo switch. It has flaws and underpowered at 30fps. Stop being a Nintendo switch fanboy
I’m sad that he said Glasses USA has over 9000 options and didn’t put a meme of Vegeta crushing a scouter on the screen. 😭
With some glasses replacing the scouter.
A scouter is like half an eyeglasses; might have sent the wrong message. :V
Great to see you put this out in 2021
Right now I've been on a vita binge, (singing the praises of the device to my friends) and trying to find good games to play, physical and digital.
So this really hits the spot
So awesome that you made this. Finally someone that doesn’t talk about the same ten Vita games! Please make a part two of this video. The Vita community is starved for decent content. We have some great creators but it’s always great to have another good one! 👍
This is crazily timed, I just got back into ps vita more and bought a red one so I can buy games off of the store that aren’t available in my region
I'm still playing Unit 13 today, love that game, basically almost the same as SOCOM 4, just better, it have tons of replay ability
I will NEVER forget Konami for what they did to Silent Hill.
And I'll never forgive them.
I stopped buying their games when they turned MGS 3 into a pachinko
Yeah same here, Konami is a terrible company run by terrible people, more surprised they haven't gone out of business yet...
Same. They made me hate the ps vita for just this one game.
RIP to that one Bioshock game that got announced for vita and then was never heard from again
To say nothing of the port of the Zone of Enders HD Collection, or the Vita version of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
Thinking about the Vita always makes me sad. Such a genuinely good system that got shot in the leg by Sony and their goddamn memory cards.
It's still baffling to me that Vanillaware never made the jump on steam, Dragon's crown, odin sphere, muramasa...
Just played my Vita today. Love it so much. If only I could find the games physically around me..:
Really happy to see the Vita getting some love in your channel, I bought a Vita last year and I love this portable system xD
- V.D.
Is the Vita not equally moddable with superior hardware?
Great video!! I love the Vita and still play it alot to this day!
Honestly love seeing the Vita getting some attention after all these years.
The Vita having forgotten games kind of feels like an oxymoron.
Aren't you rather thinking of a tautology?
Hey, back touchpad was great.
Mr. Sunday Movies is going to *lose his shit* when he sees this video, he's been going on and on about his Vita lately.
Thank you for mentioning 13 sentinels, one of the best games ever and that is a fact!
I remember buying one just for persona 4 Golden. Now I have legend of dragoon on it and that's all it's become to me. A legend of dragoon machine.
my boi. a vita video. in 2021. i love it
VITA!
also i just cracked open my copy of shiren yesterday and its a lot of fun
Usually "forgotten" games are ones I already remember or know about, but in this case there were actually 2 that I've never heard of or knew about so good job my dude 👍
Soul Sacrifice Delta was a personal favorite Vita game! It was a fun monster hunter like with a seriously awesome vibe.
I still have my physical copy of Muramasa Rebirth. It was one of a few games I bought digital originally and then liked so much I got a physical copy.
Loving all these new uploads, Austin. You do great work. Please take care of yourself. I'll send you positive vibes and hope for your continued success.
Things about this video that made me happy
-You acknowledged those hilarious live action Army Corp commercials I actually remember loving
-You informed me Sorcery Saga has been ported elsewhere, so I just bought it on Steam for 4 bucks
Things about this video that made me sad
-Lack of Mind=Zero, which isn't a good game, but one I definitely think should be talked about more.
I’m sad you didn’t mention Soul Sacrifice. That was the first hunting style game I ever really really enjoyed. It also saved me a lot of boredom when I was deployed along with Guacameele.
That one isn't really forgotten. You often see it getting recommended.
Now it's my most played system.
always nice to see more vita fans still one of my favorite systems can vouch for muramasa fantastic game just wish it got more phys releases here
Onichanbara is one of those series that is way better than it has any right to be, and yet still manages to be about as abysmally average as possible.
Totally looking forward to your video on it :)
One of the weirdest games I played on the Vita was called Conception 2. Great gameplay, but very odd way of getting more characters for your party
I absolutely LOVE the vita. Before the switch I was wholeheartedly a vita fanboy. It's a good console, shame so few people bought it.
I love my Vita
My brother loves his Wii U
We understand each other.
Man I loved my Vita. There WERE a lot of problems, but it put out a lot; really powerful for a handheld, great fee in the hands. Wouldn’t have minded nicer triggers, but that’s the only flaw I have with construction. Glad to see any appreciation for it.
No love for Soul Sacrifice Delta? That's the one book I never wanted to close.
bought the system for soul sacrifice delta and it was an awesome monster hunter clone, it and freedom wars need ports cuz they are totally underrated
Nice vid, thanks Austin.
I didn't realize there were any games on vita not forgotten
"not gravity rush though that game's"
What, Austin, that game's what? I need to know, or else I can't sleep.
lol
Yeah what happened there?! The editor have a stroke or something?!🤣
It was probably "that game's great" cuz it is
"On PS4"
When you mentioned muramasa I had such a flashback to my childhood that game was amazing
... there was a shinobido 2!?
shinobido 1 was awesome, loved the free-form stuff
and the stage creation tool was kickass
