Can you cover Dumbledore soon? The way he genuinely believed he was irredeemably damaged for his sister's death, was willing to sacrifice ANYONE for the greater good (remember that he knew Harry had to die for his plan to work but didn't know Harry would come back), and was comfortable with operating in moral grey areas makes him a fascinating character. And that's not even touching on his general child endangerment practices!
I am not sure Draco had that great of an arc or that he ever really renounced his bigoted way. Remember, all we ever saw him do was straddle the line when things got too dangerous or dark for him PERSONALLY and at the end of the day he still made sure he married into a pureblood family that had some renown.
I'd strongly argue his actions in year 6 and 7 be lawful neutral.
Because ultimately he had no choice, previous years was all hatred, prejudice, and bluster but after Voldemort's revival he's acting purely for the survival of himself and his parents.
He wasn't doing evil things for the sake of evil but for the security of his family
i agree
I would argue that ‘swearing revenge’ is Lawful evil and not chaotic. Similar to an oath, giving your word to do something and then making true that promise is not all that chaotic.
At least Neutral Evil as he's working toward a goal but has no set method or rules to follow to achieve said goal.
If I remember right, "chaotic" in the case of alignment just means self-serving. Swearing revenge can't be lawful because revenge is an entirely selfish goal, and it isn't neutral for the same reason.
It really is annoying how they changed the "Mudblood" scene in Chamber of Secrets. Hermione may be smart, but she grew up in the Muggle world same as Potter, so she wouldn't know what a Mudblood is, or at the least, wouldn't care about being called one.
Idk, it's her second year at Hogwarts, and she's well read on the history and violence behind that term. So for me, having her upset about it and Hagrid, a half giant with his own lengthy history of facing discrimination, comfort her about it was a really impactful moment. It's one of the things I feel the movie executed better both thematically and emotionally.
@@briarwolf0501 yes, but it's not like she's been bullied about this her whole life. She's never been discriminated against before like this. Yes she knows what discrimination is, she's read about slavery and all that other junk through history books and the like, and while that might be enough to get her upset, it shouldn't be enough to make her break down crying. That is one thing that the book does have over the movies.
@@JoshtheOverlander in addition it's a word she's never heard which makes sense why would anyone else in this sensario say that not something you want on your record so it would likely only be said if someone lost there cool
In fact she shouldn't even look at it as an insult since eventough mages might look down on regular people, they did invent a lot of things that wizards just can't even comprehand. Like a cellphone would blow their minds.
I've been finding that people, in general, don't get upset about the word itself but the idea that some one is trying to insult them to the lower plain of human existence in the insulters eyes. It's likely that, even though she has no experience with this kind of stuff normally, she still understands an insult when she hears it regardless of its origin or intended meaning.
I feel like Draco is the kind of character this series was made for. Firmly in one narrative role straight from the start, but their circumstances both in life and in terms of when major plot developments happen really recontextualize that role.
I'll always feel bad for him most of his life he didn't really get a choice and when he did he was put in a box with two options die or suffer, I'll always hate that every slytherin is deemed evil, but whatever great video!
I was hoping you would include the deleted scene where Draco passes Harry his wand when its revealed he's alive. I know it probably doesn't count, but i think that improves his character
It was probably deleted because they realized that Harry already had his wand.
@@danieltilson4053 Or there was a veto from She Who Won't Be Named, who actively dislikes Malfoy being seen as a good guy.
@@GhalanSmokeScale Malfoy throwing a wand to Harry is just a bad scene that doesn't work with the story in any medium.
Malfoy was terrified of Voldemort. If there was even a slight chance Harry would lose, he wouldn't risk openly defying Voldy.
Add to that the fact that Harry had Malfoy's wand hidden on him when he went into the forest, and nobody searched him, and you have no reason for Malfoy to throw a wand even without considering the fact that he wouldn't do it.
@GhalanSmokeScale Considering in the books, he was way more slimy in the end, I believe JK Rowling has a point.
Also, it really says a lot about your character, that you'd refrain from talking about a person just because they hold a different opinion than you do. It's even more embarrassing when that opinion is based on a pretty simple biological fact...
Completely goes against his character.
I like Draco a lot. He’s an interesting character that can go either way in terms of being redeemed or not.
For the longest time I misheard Malfoy as *Mouthboy*, so I just assumed that was some mocking nickname he had.
Draco has always been an interesting sort of character to me. Not a _likeable_ one, but an interesting one.
Requesting the Kirby trio and GV and Copen.
I AM NOT THE ONE TURNING OFF COMMENTS!~ SORRY IF THAT HPPANEED
the only thing i cared about was that the cursed child doesn’t count and thank god , also loved the vid
I would’ve given him saying he didn’t recognize Harry as Chaotic or Neutral Good because in the book and the movie it is heavily implied that Draco knew that was Harry but lied and said he didn’t thin it was
For the first 4-5 books/movies, Draco is walking catharsis. He's an unrepentant bully who gets his comeuppance and instant karma almost every time he opens his mouth.
Draco is absolutely a great character! Nice video!
I love Draco for being a great subversion of the "rival" character arc. Early on you'd think that he's a real threat to Harry being a constant thorn in his side but as the stakes grow higher and higher you realize that Harry and the situation at hand has far outgrown a little racist snobish kid and when he is forced into the middle of it all you actually feel bad for what is a horrible person because you really get to see just how out of his element he is and in a totally fucked situation.
The heartfelt "sucks to be you, you little shit" at 6:43 had me howling for some reason.
5:11 I feel like snitching would be considered more of a Lawful Evil act as opposed to Chaotic Evil. As he was attempting to use the “authorities”(teachers) to punish the gang for their rule breaking.
Keyaru from redo is retroactively Lawful good since healing is good magic, regardless of it’s effect. New head cannon
What you said about Draco having one of the best character arcs in Harry Potter is accurate....Because most of the main characters are incredibly static, with only handful changing ever so slightly.
Honestly, gotta give Malfoy props, the Rememberall throw was pretty impressive.
I am very happy that the elder wand was mentioned
Potter Puppet Pals song at the end was perfect!
I look forward to if you'll eventually be covering Snape.
Ya I don't. He made it pretty clear how he feels about Snape in the first couple dings
Are you talking about when he (sorta jokingly) called Snape an incel lol
This is fantastic! Excited for this series
Crab and Goyle have enough actions to count an alignment for?!?
Ah yes. The alignment "Shitheel".
Hope you're all doing well today.
very well thank you :)
OMG this is the music from the old Harry Potter Games!
Also great video :D
13:41 It's actually came from his mother's family: The Blacks; they had a tradition of naming kids after celestial bodies like galaxies, planets, moons, and stars
Sound Very Intresting 🤔, you Doing very well great job bro 👍🏻
thanks bud ^^
Loved the video and getting into Draco's mindset
I liked Draco's character arc in the books and he's a fun character to see played with in fanfiction.
And smut, obviously
You think he and Harry should be lovers? :P
@@jalejablonsky2396 not into BL, but that is a funny scenario.
Off topic, but I love that you used music from the games in the background
Harry Potter for October huh? Alrighty. Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Thanks for another vid guys 😃
I’d call Draco snitching in the first year a possible lawful evil than chaotic evil depending on the choice he made.
The rules are children are not supposed to leave their dorm. So, if a student is caught outside of their dorms they get in trouble. Draco reported them to Mcgonagall, the Gryffindor house teacher who punished indiscriminately, because he definitely wanted to see them punished. If he had thought this through and, perhaps, snitched on them to Professor Snape, Slytherin’s house teacher who has already shown clear favoritism to Slytherins over other houses, instead, the odds of him getting away scot-free would have been higher. That would have turned the choice from Chaotic Evil to Lawful Evil because he used the school rules and house politics to make sure he got the best result.
There is no start of darkness more innocent than a child wanting to please their parents.
I wish Draco had gotten more development in the series. He was mostly a one note bully who has drunk on the fascist ideology of war and glory who realised reality in the end. I like reading Fanfics where he develops a friendship with Hermione, I feel they should have leaned on the pressure he's under and that he works hard for people to think his talent comes naturally to him, when he's constantly working.
Draco is a very interesting character, much more interesting than Potter
Malfoy is that you?
last year I actually did something similar. Only I did D&D character classes into Hogwarts Houses.
How f'd up is it that better brooms make playing Quidditch easier, imagine if it was the same with soccer shoes or something lol
Didn't draco know it was harry when they were at Malfoy manor? If not then that ding is fine, but I swear it should be chaotic good there.
Never said out loud, but heavily implied...
Like, in the books Rowling goes as far as saying that draco was just toying with them before calling out when he's all "wtf did you guys do to him?". Harry was 100% sure Draco knew and didnt understand at first why he wouldnt say.
yaaay more Cinema Shenanigans
My ancient OG standards of the less binary linear standards of the frayed strand between LG and CG led me to see him as LE(n). He is iconically an authority-abusing selfish type who has some nuggets of good despite being mostly selfish and cruel (evil).
Silco. Characters from The Dragon Prince (as the next/new season will start in November). Please do these alignment charts!
I was wondering when that was coming. I hadn't found anything the last time I searched.
I think the music throughout the video is from the obscure Harry Potter games.
I would love for Rowling to write a book in Draco's point of view. A book about him when he's older.
Ah yes yes, Harry's first fucboi
those puns are the best part in some video's also here is an owl for the best character in the harry potter movies to do a video on, that being luna lovegood. all in good fun. love your streams and video's and the chaotic or lawfull evil of this community.
That new Alex art is fire!
cool video.
Since there are some people NOT honoring a certain request in the video:
Our opinions of the controversial topic are IRRELEVANT!
We were SPECIFICALLY asked to not discuss this in the comments to avoid a comment war on a controversial topic. Why don't we honor that request? If you don't like coverage of this series, skip the video, and watch a different TheLoadingCrew video.
Isn't honoring this request lawful good or lawful neutral? Not honoring it is certainly chaotic.
The books go into depth in a way the movies cant. Anyways i suspect draco is chaotic neutral.
For Halloween, maybe consider John Kramer, aka Jigsaw from the Saw series.
Talk about a moral rollercoaster.
After that, please do Kain/Raziel from The Legacy of Kain series.
Danke!
Some of these chaotic evils are lawful evil imo. Snitching to the authorities for evil purposes is lawful.
Hi, I was wondering if you would care to do a DND Alignment on the characters from "Over the Garden Wall"? The series is altogether almost 2 hours long. It's a Halloween-themed series
The dings are really strange to me. Many evil actions just have him balance on neutral border without moving him further down at all, and neutral actions moving him really far up.
I think a more consistent system would be to have Neutral dings not move them up or down, only good/evil ones. Now he ended up in true neutral because the evil actions he made just didnt push him much below the neutral line.
To be fair the sheer amount of "this kid was basically Black mailed by the literal devil to do something awfull or die with his family" counted as evil instead of (at least) neutral also make a huge difference.
I feel like he at the same time didnt want to end in the Evil Axis since so much people likes the character but also couldnt put his bias towards evil out.
I mean... we're talking about the channel that put Baby Goblim Genocide as "Good" because of context but he cant do the same in a thing like "or you make this old locker work or we'll kill your parents"?
At the end I think it wouldnt change much.
(And about Neutral not changing... it would be really hard since it would mean that only totally neutral or totally balanced characters would end up there and everyone else would be in the extremes. But a "neutral moves 1, the others move 2" kinda rate could work.
MOVIE SNAPE IS A BETTER CHARACTER THEN BOOK SNAPE
I really don't like the "this action is inherently evil no mater the context " logic you sometimes use if you use that logic on non magical actions the characters sometimes take you would see that its really silly.
which ones?? I don't remember any of those in this particular video
"even if characters are doing things for good because they are using dark magic specifically there actions will be considered evil" you also do this in star wars videos when someone uses mind control no mater the context that's evil and i find that dumb if you think about it
@@damianstruiken5886 mind control is evil no matter what because you are subsuming their free will and agency, on which human rights are based.
@@damianstruiken5886 Sorry but outright removing people's ability to self-determine their own actions in favor of what you want them to do *is evil*
@@damianstruiken5886 while I can somewhat understand “Dark arts are always evil” because dark arts require evil emotions to work. I will say that the “mind control is always evil” is 100% justified. Just because they’re doing it for a “good” reason, doesn’t change the fact that they’re taking away from that persons freewill and own choice. They’re forcing the person into a decision they may have never wanted in the first place. That will always be evil, no matter the justification.
Will you cover the Golden Trio?
more Harry Potter characters pls
I'm writing a bully character in my own book and it's making me realise just how uninteresting Draco Malfoy was. He was a character who didn't really need to exist. I think he was based on posh bullies J Rowling faced in her childhood and that's about it.
I mean, think about it. What did he do for the story. He bullied the trio and Neville. And then when Voldemoty told him to commit murder in the penultimate book he couldn't do it. Which was an interesting turn of events and a cool character moment but at the end of the day, Draco doesn't become anything. He doesn't do anything all that spectacular.
The one thing I hate about Harry Potter is how Rowling refuses to give a Slytherin anything of value. That's why I love the theory that Dumbledore was in Slytherin. It would mean that the Slytherin house wasn't so bad after all and that a Slytherin character would get a major role.
Also as I'm writing my bully character (Michael Samson, in case you want to know) I'll remember that he has to become something. He can't just slither out of importance at the end.
Draco's definitely a tough one, he does seem like he'd be evil but... As you said, he isn't he's just a child trying to get his parents aproval and acting/viewing the world in the way he's been taught to do so. Only after his father is imprisoned do we get to see Draco break free of what he has to do because of his family and acting like himself.... with the caveat of being sent on a suicide mission under the threat of immediate annihilation to him and his family.
As a summary, I'd argue that Draco Malfoy isn't evil. He's a misguided, stuck-up dick.
I feel True Neutral is fair. Book canon as well cause his arc is the same in the books, only moreso
A video on Violet Evergarden please!
5:11 I'ld label that one netral evil or lawfull evil.
Sorry, how does a character with a load of evil dings and no good dings end up as a true neutral? Surely the evil dings keep him in the evil category?
So who is the other character you're looking at for Harry Potter besides Harry?
🦉
^-^
OvO
It's an owl
I will be honest, I am not really aware of any controversies of her.
J. K. Rowling is super transphobic, obsessed with the ideas that they will use bathrooms to r*pe people or endanger kids.
Consider yourself lucky. It's a mess on both sides
Thank you for telling people to leave real world politics and opinions out of this series!
I look forward to the rest of them!
On the subject of character growth, does anyone else see some parallels between Draco and Zuko in season one of ATLA?
I think the new ricj and morty epsiode referenced you
WHAT?!
@@TheLoadingCrew right around 17:20
How about one punch man characters, like Saitama.
Rival is faaaaar too much of a title/role for Draco imo. I mean, He's just not enough and the huge following and hype He has thanks to being portrayed by Tom Felton is just irritating... An honestly underwhelming arc, that feels unfinished and kinda unsure where it wants to go, just tombles around and tries to get out of the situation He's in. In conclusion, Draco is, in my humble opinion, the most infuriating character in fiction because I can see the potential for a great rival and arc in Him that He doesn't fulfill
A milder stance (like yours on the intro) just perpetuates the opressor. It is important to denounce their actions, even if you don't go fully into detail. Her worldview is objectively bad, and objectively makes people's lives worse, by not addressing it, sadly you allow her platform to keep on growing.
I still really enjoy the lore and worldbuilding she brought on her books, but it's very important to never lose sight of what she is: A transphobe.
True Neutral Character arc was boring, but interesting at the same time.
Jk Rowling is right
For the cringe, I'll do as you requested of me
I really wish you wouldn’t cover Harry Potter - I know you don’t want to talk about it in the comments but I think it would be better just to ignore it despite its prominence. Dominic Noble has a good video on this you should check out
Not in the loop, what happun? Why shouldn't he cover this?
@@panbaron4424 JK Rowling has come under a lot of fire for her political views.
In a nutshell, she's against trans rights, against the LGBTQIA+ in general, and very close to the more extreme factions of the political right in the UK.
The way I see it, separate the art from the artist. J.k. Rowling is a horrible person but Harry Potter is a great franchise muddled by her vision. If the rights of this franchise weren't owned by her, people would only talk about the good aspects, not the person connected to it.

There's some chatacters you really don't need to make videos on cause they're the archetype of soemthing. Han solo and Aladin are archetypical Rogues, and Draco is an archetypical lawful evil.
Honestly it feels like there's a lot of things that ought to be lawful that you're listening as chaotic, very much because you have a planned ending and not because you're judging them action by action.
Either that or you use chaotic evil as a way to say extra evil. But it's been long established in DND that chaotic and lawful are not ways to say better or worse versions of an action. In my eyes, being racist is neutral evil, because it is evil without any lean towards or against order.
You literally called SWEARING REVENGE CHAOTIC. no it's not! That's keeping your word! That's lawful!!!
Yeah, he mucked up a bit here.
Though actually I'd argue Racism is Lawful Evil. It's about trying to uphold your race as the head of a racial hierarchy. That's an attempt to establish order, a really fucked up order, but it is order. Often Racists convince themselves that if their race was in charge of everything (or in the case of more directed racists, a particular race was eliminated from all institutions and halls of power, see Anti-Jewish Racism, or Critical Race Theory) the world would be a better place. They usually have long drawn out sophistic rationalizations to try and justify their ideology, but ultimately anyone capable of the slightest bit of critical thinking will be able to see the root of it is based in a desire to establish a Racial Hierarchy. They want either want their race at the top, or a specific other race at the bottom.
YES! Disregard the garbage fanfiction!
Did this man really just say the force is neutral? Different abilities in the force feed off of different emotions. Even the light and the dark sides are named such because they are fueled by lighter and darker emotions. Also the page Draco stole winds up in Hermione's hand later on. It is the information about basilisk's that helped them figure out how to fight it. He was helping them. You may want to pay a bit more attention when making a video like this and as the video isn't even half-way done as im typing, I'm sure there will be more mistakes to follow. Also Snape is not an incel and it really annoys me that people keep doing that.
Man, Snape is horrible
