The Watchowskis have made it pretty clear that they wanted to create many layers of philosophical questions and interpretations and not to answer them. Though I think this is taken to a frustrating degree; I loved the Architect scene because it perfectly tells Neo "the truth" that Zion is all bullshit, just another layer of The Matrix, but does so in terms that from his point of view, not seeing that, he would of course interpret otherwise. Unfortunately, they rip this up in the 3rd movie (as if it never happened, even though movies 2 and 3 were created together as one thing), I guess because they didn't want answers to any of the questions, but treating Zion as real the whole time both kept it generic (leading, IMO, to a lot of people's perception that movie 3 was dull) while also ruining how truly awesome the Architect thing sure seemed to be. There's a reason I did a rewrite of the 3rd movie [even if I got burned out and only made videos for 2/3 of that rewrite]
wait wait wait are you saying zion was fake as in another computer program??? i got that it was bs because the machines could destroy it at anytime from overwhelming force like they have done many times before.
@@hardwirecars Which is more likely; that humans escaped #@!*ing 7 separate times and each time managed to create a technologically advanced hidden city deep within the earth and hide it from the machines somehow... or that the machines built Zion as a buffer so that the small fraction of humans whose minds tried to reject the Matrix could feel like they made the choice - either the blue pill (consciously accepting the Matrix as their reality), or the red pill (feeling like they had uncovered the truth, answering the question that nagged them). Each time it would work for a period, but when things started to get unbalanced (and possibly when the 80s-90s world of The City moved too far in the timeline, needing a reset), they'd wipe out Zion, and use The One to select the new "first settlers" of Zion to repopulate it. All as another layer of The Matrix, making up that bullshit explanation about batteries because it was simpler than explaining that human mins provided the processing power for the "machine world". Seems to me like "The Council" would be a bunch of programs, who would tell the selected humans they had built the engineering level and salvaged the first hovership to "free" them.
@@demonac that makes sense but what part of the 3 movies makes you believe zion was ever hidden? i mean in 3 who told them how to find it cuse they didnt seam to have any trouble on that front and the people of zion didnt act like they were hidden thatsw why they had the defences they had when they knew damn good and well they didnt have the resources to spend friviously.
@@hardwirecars They had defenses **in case** they were found. Given the amount of firepower defending the machine city, and the number of sentinels eventually sent, and the amount of emphasis their ships put on stealth, it does not seem like a situation where the machines were being physically deterred by their fortifications. The machines have presumed access to the resources of the entire surface of the planet - by industrial capacity alone it should be no contest.
@@demonac na dude look at what went on in vietname when your enemy relies on not being found you dont set up permanant structures for defence because you cant afford it and lords know they could not afford it im willing to say they probably didnt think that through in the 3rd movie but nothing (cough raid cough) screamed stealth to me.
Thank you for calling Anderson his deadname- I really appreciate it ^~^
And here is where I get to say that I saw the original trilogy after the hype had died of half life. The main reason was I wanted to get a clear head see them with out a heavy influence tipping the scale. Soon after I finally saw Revolutions, not only could I see the metaphysics of it, but also saw some of the subtler influences in the plot. It also had cast a farther shadow on gaming than most people think. One of the people dragged in to work on Matrix Online was Mike Pondsmith who was still figuring out how to do one interpretation of a post 4th Corp War Night City. The Matrix would then go on to be listed in the films someone needs to see before running Cyberpunk v3, or later Red. So in a way between this and Johnny Mnemonic, it's small wonder that Kenau would go on to play Silverhand in 2077.
I always thought the Matrix series to be a set of action films. Glad that you pointed out the deeper side of the film. Plus care to do a D&D Moral Alignment of either/both Goro Majima and Kiryu Kazuma from Yakuza 0?
Yaluxa? Wazzat? It doesn't sound very much Like a Dragon...
XD
@@SonnyFRST That took me a minuet to figure out what you were talking about. And yep, thanks for pointing out the typo.
@@alexanderchon9058 Kinda bummed that you fixed it though. :\
@@SonnyFRST People will get is by your initial comment.

If you want some amazing analysis of the Matrix sequels, watch Sarah Zedig (no not Sarah Z, Sarah Zedig, they are two different women), and Sophie From Mars's two part collaboration deep diving into what makes these two movies WAY better than most people give them credit for. Mainly that Reloaded and Revolution are actually meant to be viewed as a single, 4 hour long movie, à la The Snyder Cut. (But executed way better)

The Wachowskies made all the main actors read a thick philosophy textbook, apparently Lawrence Fishburne was the only one who understood it.

Did it with you yet again, at the beginning of movie 1 I put him at Chaotic Neutral, like you, and he ended up at Chaotic Good, also like you said. He stayed almost exactly the same in 2, and by the end of 3 worked his way up to Neutral Good.
Loved the trilogy. I know the Resurrection movie has been getting mixed reviews, but I would love to see your take on it with Neo and the others.
His name is Tom
Thanks for the excellent breakdown of the matrix. It - and you- are a huge inspiration to me as a writer. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Not that this hasn’t happened before but this was a very emotional episode and really well done! Thanks for the content!
The Matrix was always one of my favorite movies franchises out there, so I'm glad to see it getting a sequel. Neo really is one of my favorite heroes in cinematic history, alongside Luke Skywalker and Everyone from Lord of the Rings. And while seeing this Alignment video is unsurprising as I already guess he'd be on the good side of the alignment chart it's still good seeing the road he takes and how this translates into D&D. I'm going to miss these regular uploads after December, where everything goes back to one or, maybe, two episodes a month this moth was great, and I'll explain more on the last day on my feelings about this, so see then.
Everyone is also my favorite character in Lord of the Rings too. So compelling! :)
Delving into the "Murder Drones" Pilot would probably suit your channel nicely! (Day 16).
I have only seen the first movie, but NEO seems like both a man filled with animosity for the matrix and agent Smith, as well as a child that wants to make Morpheus proud.
Can't wait to see the new matrix movie. It's going be awesome! Thanks for igniting my urge to watch it Stewart 😁
Just watched Matrix Resurrections and I really really enjoyed it. That's all I'm gonna say, I had a really good time!
It was my first rated r too even though I didn’t realize it until 10yo
I’d love to see what alignment Master Chief would be, or really the Arbiter
Love to see a breakdown of Tommy Shelby from peaking blinders
Love this video
thank you :D
6:09 I see what you did there!
The ending makes me think of dark souls and the rekindling of the first flame
I got a matrix commercial before the start of this video
I was thinking what would be a good movie that could make a few videos that could fill out next year, the alignment of all the main heroes of Watchmen. Might have to double up like Nite Owl and Rorschach in one video, Silk Specter and Doctor Manhattan in another video, Ozymandias and The Comedian in another.
Only thing I could say is that Persephone wants to have a passionate kiss (or kisses) is because Merovingian does not give her the passion she desires, as he prefers to go off to others and cheat on her (as stated when the lipstick was not on his face or collar of the shirt). She wishes for someone to love her like she wants to be loved, not to be sitting at the side of this man looking nice like a prize.
I'm not sure if this idea is really feasible because it's about a tv show and not a movie, but I would be really excited if you ever did a video on the D&D Alignment of Raymond Reddington from The Blacklist. My two main predictions are Chaotic Neutral given his occupation or Lawful Evil when following his plans to fruition. I just find him to be a very interesting and cool character.
FINALLY SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE MATRIX
I might guess IT for Tim Curry maybe idk but the first thing I saw him in was Red Alert 3
Dr COX said that he was the chosen one
Trinston was here.
5:46 Nat 20 Fight or not I just can't really agree that Neo and Trinity's slaughter of the lobby guards can really be called 'Chaotic Good'. I mean... I guess I can maybe see an argument for it being some form of Neutral in mowing down (unwitting) pawns of the bad guys for the greater good but it just seemed far too callous for me.
If Morpheus was compromised Zion would be in far more immediate danger than it was in the sequels. Proxy wars are a very muddy grey area when it comes to morality
I also dislike his assertion that "giving the government the middle finger" is normally Chaotic good.
It's 2:20.
I have a showing in an hour.
This should be fun.
And ironically it continues what the second movie kind of also did. That his path as the one should be done after the first movie. He has realized his potential. And yet, something isn't right. The architect is just proof that he was being dragged towards some purpose that he couldn't have known about.
The movies (1&2) and their layers of thought are noice and all, but when it comes to determinism I'm kinda on the fence about their takes on it.
you should do damon from the vampire diaries
They should do boxy t morningwood
In the end, its the dark souls dilemma.
Can you make What D&D Alignment is Kaitou Joker?
Definitely Chaotic. I suppose good?
Can you do Nagasarete Airantou?
He is neutral awesome
Beans.
Given its a Watchowski film, want to try Speed Racer?
Have you done a alignment for Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star?
I keep forgetting American R is not the same R for Australia so I am always confused when people say a movie is R and know it’s not
See this is where it’s a little difficult to figure out whether actions are good or evil due to the layers that make up this series’s world. There is the real world where the earth is in a post apocalyptic state, the Matrix world which is similar to our world currently but is code and can be manipulated, and there is an in between that allows an individual to see without sight and manipulate machines in close proximity in the real world.
I personally would have labeled the girl in the red dress chaotic stupid but thats just me
A half life video would be good
The original Matrix is still one of my favorite movies ever. Even on my umpteenth viewing, it's never not at least interesting. Grunge sci-fi is my aesthetic.
Also... f*** authority. Eat the rich. XD
Resurrections sucked absolute balls lol this video aged like milk
Dude do tai lung from kungfu panda!
I did. check the kung fu panda video
@@TheLoadingCrew I shall!
Agreed, fingering the government is usually CG. Also, as a husband and father there are alot of things I'm capable of, for the sake of my wife and children. People who don't have that responsibility won't ever really understand.
I was pretty sure you already did Neo... Weird
this is pretty good but i do believe these movies are overrated
holy shit you just made me realize the architect scene is ripped straight from the bible (the entire movie is a jesus alagory we know this) but the archatect is tempting neo into giving into his will saying do what i ask and all of this all that you want will be yours when jesus and neo both know thats not the truth at all plus the dream was not a warning of things to come but showing him the path he has to take. God i love this movie!!!! also if us christians said we were redpilling you instead of trying to save your soul would that be less grating?
First
To bad resurrections was crap
Clicked dislike by accident. If I had a nickel for every time that’s happened this month I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.
