The debate between the two is about stopping bipedal animals, paraphrasing of course. All other tests really don't answer that question, so I listen to what servicemen have always said. The general consensus that I remember from the gwot time period was that 7.62 x 39 has better ability to stop assailants quicker than 5.56, and that's the only reference I ever needed. Other tests are cool and even distance testing is interesting, but both of these rounds are intermediate cartridges and anything out to 300 yards or more, can be better served by using more powerful, full length rifle rounds.
I have both and I can only say for some strange reason I enjoy my AK more no reason except i guess I get more feedback . Its like the difference between driving a Jeep and a high end SUV, both do the same ting but one lets you feel more of the terrain...!
You couldn't shoot enough ammo to wear out an AR-15 Barrel remember the AK Barrel is pressed in see what happens when they get loose and it happens a lot
@Brian Mouton well I never seen a chrome-lined Barrel worn out and I shot plenty of rounds through it oh and just to let you know I'm a combat veteran with 10 years in the army and my MOS is a 12 Bravo sapper and I put the m16 through hell the only problem I had is that I broke the buttstock and that's a whole other story don't believe all this crap you hear from all these keyboard Warriors on the internet that never used a weapon in combat and relied on m16 /AR-15 it's a very reliable and capable weapon it only lost Effectiveness when they cut the barrel down from the 20
@Brian Mouton but again I don't know what experience you have with an M16 or an AK-47 in combat but when push comes to shove I'll take an M16 over to commie gun any day and by the way I also have Zastava n Pap and zpap they are probably the most reliable well built ak you can buy on the market today but in combat I will still take the M16 I'm just going by my experience and the only reason I bought a n-pap then later a zpap it's because I'm Serbian and for no other reason and by the way one more thing it will take more than six thousand rounds to burn out a Chrome lined heavy barrel do you actually think the military changes barrels on their M16 every two years Christ I was eating c-rations from the early 60s and that was in the 80s
I mean the Cheap steel case AK ammo will destroy an AK also.. YES the AK might overall last longer, but just think if they stopped using the bimetal bullets. Also if you are using an AR you can just get another upper for dirt cheap and toss change the broken one out in 5 seconds.
They need to make a round for the 7.62x39mm Bullet the length of A150 grain bullet would be but but give it the 7N1 with a hollow cavity By using a longer round it would be able to go further more accurate and be able to do what needs to be done at longer range
Believe it or not the 7.62 by does less internal damage I don't want to be shot by either but if I had a choice I'd rather be shot by the 762 by 39 then a 556 from a 20in barrel and I mostly shoot 62 grain soft point it's in my AR-15 I also have Zastava M70 when I shoot hollow points and soft points they don't open up not getting enough speed from it it's just like shooting a full metal jacket
Very true, since the higher speed and smaller size of the 556 basically makes it fragment immediately and dump all its energy upon impact whereas the 762 had enough mass at time to zip right through. Also very correct....wouldn't want to get bit by either lol.
My AR47 has made my AK redundant. Sorry. I find it to be more accurate mainly due to better optics availability. Reliability is in question due to the AKs history. But for non emergency work I will go with the AR47 platform.
I prefer 7.62x39 myself however I am concerned about long term availability as it's imported. Am I the only one? Is there a reason importation (primarily from Russia) wasn't restricted in previous administrations? Or couldn't say Mexico or somewhere buy a sh8t ton of it and put it in a new box and sell it to us.

Nice unbiased video. One thing I like about the 556 is it can penetrate through level 3 plate easily. With 20 inch barrel

Couldn't agree more and completely understand especially being a car analogy.
The high velocity of 5.56 also wears out your gun at a faster rate.
Very true as well, although most people will never see a barrel burned out.

I've got an AR chambered in 7.62x39 and I love it
Is it a KS47 or CMMG?
7.62x39 becomes a monster if you use soft point or hollow point ammo.
Great video your knowledge is on point 👍
I appreciate that!
Great video !
Glad you enjoyed it
New owner of the KS 47. Im new to the 7.62x39 coming solely from 556/ar15 platform. I must say I’ve been missing out LOL.
Like the meeting of two great minds aint it. :)
What optic do you use? Red dot, 3x, or 1-6x?
For AK's I rock a red dot 95% of the time, for AR's 1-6x most of the time with red dots depending on the situation.

Thet make 154 gr sp
As a reloader I never feed any firearm crappy steel

What are you running I've never had that issue

My KS47 is like that for me and works like a dream, but is mag picky at times.
I wish I had that gun considering I live 30mins from their Greenville SC location you would think I would have one lol
They are hard to find, picked mine up a bit before the COVID times and havent seen them in stock since.
What kind of gun you have bud, I have both I like them
7.62. Not even a contest.
My man! LoL
I guess you never seen the damage to a human body from a 556
5.56/223 is overall better with more options to choose from, just the facts. If you prefer inferiority its fine, but tell the truth.
The 3000+ FPS from the 556 does devastating damage lol
I prefer 7.62x39 myself however I am concerned about long term availability as it's imported. Am I the only one? You called it now with the import ban.
@@TheGeekyNerd Yup. Going to try to get the 223 AK tomorrow before they ban them next. Damn commies.
It's important thing to know but the presentation is too fast and uncleared. It's hard to listen and understand.
5.56 is good for humans max anything bigger 7.62x39 is great and better
7.62x39 soft points are king
True, just hard to find readily available.
I’m more of a galil ace 7.62x39 kinda guy 😌
LoL, would be too if i could find one. :)
Heavy af.
I really want a gun
Go Get Em
