My wife had difficulties holding the passenger grab rails on the tour. So I got the non tour added a top box, changed over the grab rails and saved £6k...and I could get two helmets in the top box where I couldn’t on the 2019 tour variant. As always nice video and thanks for sharing. Paul
Theres only two bolts that are super hard to get out so I slotted the holes they go through. Just loosen and lift. I didn't opt for the traxxion quick kit, although it is a good option...
Another great video. I must admit I prefer the looks of the standard “bagger” version, but I can see how the tour is more practical, especially 2 up. 👍
I've always used a naked bike with no heated anything or stereo .. Just a big national cycle plexistar 2 windshield and a set of bigger soft bags and wrack with a tail trunk or other soft bag. Ride when weather permits and have appropriate gear ready for cooler weather.. Always in a bubble behind that big and quickly removable plexistar 2. Z900rs has that and the touring saddle by Corbin .. It's all ya need 👍.. Oh.. The engine guards with highway pegs are a plus.. Nice video again comparing those giant beasts 👍
I was fortunate enough to test ride the 2021 Tour recently and absolutely loved it, Just so comfortable and the silky smooth DCT gearbox and engine is something else. I honestly never thought this could be on my list to maybe own one day. Cheers Jake.
You hit on the exact differences between the bikes. I went from a 2019 GW Non-Tour DCT to a 2021 GW Tour DCT. I will say the new seat on the 2021 GW Tour is much better than previous models and has a little more spring to it. Having the addition of the heated seat on the Tour is also really nice. Another difference on the Tour was a much better ride due to the suspension. However, in the twisties, the NON TOUR would perform best. That lower weight and lack of the large top case was very noticeable. As someone indicated, it would be great if you could easily remove the top case. I think then Honda would only need to sell 1 model of Goldwing with either 6 speed or DCT.
Got my 2019 GoldWing Tour DCT new in March this year and I've done 12K miles already. (Just gone to bed for winter). I adore this bike. I can't keep off it. I've had bikes since I was 16 (61 now) and always ridden. (Had a brand new Gold Wing GL1000 in 1981 too.) The new GW Tour DCT is my favourite all time bike.
I'm 60 and recently retired. I got my DCT Tour in March 2019 and, like you, love it to bits. I have a 1976 GL1000K1 in the garage as well. That is a great bike too but riding them back to back really highlights just how far bike design has come over recent years. I've also got a lovely little 1972 CB175K6 in the garage. That is great fun to ride and is a handy little run around bike.
Thanks. Nice comparison. Mine is a 2021 DCT Base model. I liked the sportier look. I do miss not having the better TPMS on the Tour that gives exact tire pressure rather than just a low pressure warning on mine, and the heated seat is another. Heated grips are standard in the U.S market. For cold weather a wired-in Gerbing heated liner, gloves, pants liner and socks keep the ride comfortable at well- below freezing weather. For two-up riding I installed a Givi V56 Monokey topbox with passenger backrest. It will hold 2 full face modular helmets and it is portable at the touch of a button. Great for night stopovers. Keep up the great work.
I have the best of both worlds. I bought a 2018 tour model with all the bells and whistle‘s except for the airbag. Recently I bought a trunk delete kit to set my bike up as a bagger. And a shorter windshield. I ride it around mostly as a bagger, but when I need to go on long trips I throw the top case on and go touring. I think the bagger just looks cooler.
If you want the tour extras but like the sleek curves of the standard, then do what I did and turn your tour into the standard with a trunk removal kit. I can go back and forth for single or two-up riding in less than 30 minutes now. And another benefit is they did not make the ‘18 standard in white so I have the only one I have seen so far.
Love them both... personally, I'm one up primarily, so I purchased the standard or B model in the States. I think the standard looks just a bit sportier which fit best for me. Thank you for the review.
I bought the Tour because I got a great deal on it. Then I took off the top box because I like the bagger look and I seldom have a passenger. This way I have all the extras that the Tour version offers, with the bagger look.
Oh I couldn’t have found this particular video at a worse or better time depending on how you see it. Took my trusty, very much loved Kawasaki Concours in for a service that I was going to wait for. So I walked down the street for a coffee and coming back the salesman is just rolling a very low mileage 2021 GoldWing non-tour in that exact color scheme to the front of the building. I sat on it, thought about it, walked away. More time went by due to an issue with my service, so now I need a closer look at this GoldWing. It’s not the DCT model. So now I have my husband and two girlfriends (who ride GW’s) goading me into moving over to GW. It’s so beautiful, it has so many features the Concours is lacking, it’s soooooo comfortable. Oh and I leave for a 5,000 mile trip in just over two weeks.
@SewGurl58 👍 hope your "5K" was a blast. I was going to sell my K1600GTL and move down to a Rebel 1100 for ease/convenience (and just tote our machines to a central location at an Airbnb for day trips if traveling).... but can't give up the big, frame mounted fairing. Almost certainly getting a (used, 2018+) wing after we move this fall. Happy/safe rides.
Like others saying here, Honda missed it on a quick removal rear case. They would have added so many more buyers on the 6th gen GW. It's something very simple to do and very valuable. I got the Tour because I love the rear case spare space as a commuter biker.
Completely agree with everything you say. I got my DCT Tour in March 2019 so it is actually a first gen 2018 model. Mine is in the plain black with the same chrome and silver trim as yours and I love the understated look with no graphics. I'm not keen on fancy colours and grahics on any bike nor the blacked out look. I thought about waiting for a 2019 blue one like yours but in the end went with the black and don't regret it though it is a bitch to keep looking clean. The only thing that I found a bit annoying was that, at the time, if you wanted a DCT version you had to have the air bag. Honda UK were only importing the Tour models for the first year, the manual without air bag and the DCT with air bag even though Honda were producing the DCT without the air bag. I think Honda UK have woken up to that and it might have changed now. I think the air bag is only of any real value in specific circumstances, basically head collisions. I suppose it could be of some value one day but I think if I'd had the option I'd have gone with the none air bag version and had the advantage of that practical little locker. Overall though I am really happy with the bike and so far although Honda have listened to feedback and made some improvements none of them are significant enough to tempt me in to trading in for a later model, not even the bigger top box. As for which is best, standard or tour, I think it boils down to how you want use the bike. For proper touring you need the extra luggage capacity of the Tour and but if you just use it for cruising and days out then probably the panniers alone on the standard model are just about big enough. Either way it is a fantastic machine.
Totally agree with your write up. I have the same black bike, 2018. Another reason for not trading up is that I have added too many accessories to the bike. To even consider changing I would want to see a significant upgrade of the technology - e.g. reverse camera, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, cornering ABS and the kind of multimedia platforms we see on AUDIs etc
Sheer luxury both bikes and still cheaper than any Keanu Reeves bikes which start around $85k called Arch Motorcycles. The Goldwings look so good compared to any BMW. Thanks for another great video Andy. It’s very much appreciated.
Nice review as usual, but I must disagree with the aesthetic opinions. The bagger is the first Goldwing that does not look like an old man's bike. Seeing it in person, on the road with the light gray paint it looked sleek, tough, and fast. I have never wanted a Goldwing before, but I want this one.
I have the 2021 Tour DCT non-airbag and I love it. I use that top trunk 100% of the time so I wouldn’t want to be without it. I ride solo 99% of the time and having the extra space makes my multi-day trips a lot easier. I think if you just did day rides the bagger might be ok.
I always think the modern GW is greater than the sum of its parts. Knocked by most, loved by everyone else, there really is little that comes close to this iconic motorcycle. Already owned 2, and would never say never to owning a third, just need a big garage...
My Dad had a Goldwing in the early 80's (before I was around). I think it was 1100 4-cylinder. I reckon he'd have loved this new one. They're not my thing, as such, but I totally respect the technology and engineering that goes into them.
I really wish you would stop making videos on these Honda’s, the more you talk about them the more I wanna get down the local Honda dealership and buy myself a bagger absolutely stunning looking bike! Only problem is it would mean chopping in my trusty ZZR 1400. Grate stuff as always Andy.
Thank you mr Flyer! First picture of the grey one was mirrored. I've seen it in the flesh and it looks soooo goood! It's Tirpitz! Love it! But I would never buy one...well, never is a strong word. 😉
Nice comparison. I agree with that the tour model is one to go for, if you're intending to use it for two up touring. More luggage space, better pillion comfort etc... but I must admit I prefer the looks of the standard model, with its blacked out features and slightly sleeker lines (although I'm not sure whether the word "sleek" is ever appropriate around a Goldwing!). I really wish Honda would be a bit more adventurous with their colours though.
Was always more of an admirer of the Goldwing rather than a fan, it’s looks were one of the things that didn’t do it for me. But this white one looks pretty darn good, clean and modern and bold.
Great video, great review of the two big girls! I love your garage!! Before I sold the house, the 1800 and became a fulltime RV'er, I had to turn sideways to walk on either side of the Wing, because of all the "stuff" in the garage. Oh, by the way. I couldn't help but notice, it seemed as if you were driving "on the other side"! Keep the shiny side up! Cheers!
Personally I love the look of your GoldWing in the blue and it really does seem to be a fantastic all round machine… just need my lottery numbers to come up! 😆….. It would be interesting if you could do a run down of your overall running costs for the Goldwing, servicing costs etc?
New subscriber so maybe you do this but I agree with the comment above, a Harry’s Garage style annual video of costs of ownership of all bikes would be cool
TMF more gr8 Goldie content, hope all is well in the mother country and you winter no too cold. Down under state borders are opening and we have sunshine so my Goldie is getting a good workout. Cheers👍
The way that I decided to choose was that if I was going to spend 30k on a bike, might as well buy the expensive one so that I could choose to take stuff off vs add stuff. That goldwing you have is nice!! I had a 2016 goldwing f6b and it was fun and cool. I didn’t have a gf so I didn’t have to worry much about having a nice backrest for her. So:)
Loved your; comparisons on the gold wing..s. I owned a 72 model, 1000 cc, anda six cylinder Valkyrie, both with side cars I built, now I ride some thing more in keeping with my health, new hips, and your appraisal, I love my silver wing. Cheers and stay upright xx
Yes, but you can add a high quality top box that looks good for €300. The Tour is €5k more.....thats a lot for a top box! The panniers in both being the same, are actually fairly poor capacity and access wise, so from the perspective the Tour isn't any better.
Yours looks like a proper Goldwing , I had no idea they came without stuff you'd expect on one . I thought the whole idea was it has everything ? But I guess I was wrong .. again yours looks lovely ! Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮♥️
You've undoubtedly got the best model and I have to say the best color too it's cracking bike and I don't think there is anythoing out their better to me always nice to see your big mile muncher Andy cheers : )
Great video Mr. M, you spoil us all. I am with you the Honda Goldwing tourer is my favorite motorbike. Can wait see more on Honda Goldwing tourer soon. Hopefully one day the 2021.
Well the Goldwing looks ok👍🏽 and it has its place and will suit a lot of people... certainly not me tho...🤣.... like you, I love taking my wife to different places on the bike, which she thoroughly enjoys ..And your Goldwing Andy is a beautiful looker!.. and like you quite rightly said, it looks far more balanced, with practicality More storage, and the pillion passenger, is going to have the best motorcycle pillion comfort.. it is undoubtedly my favourite looking motorcycle.. one day I am hoping to have a Goldwing dct tour, Maybe when I officially retire at 66, in less than 2 years😁👍🏽💚
TMF, I always enjoy your reviews, even of bikes I am unlikely to purchase. For what it's worth, my long-time pillion enjoys riding on the back of my Sprints ST 955i, in part because it has a flattish double seat and NO top-box, but just useful factory panniers. She has never come close to falling off the back and worries about being trapped by the top-box and the armchair in the event we go down. I understand her concern. Plus, tastes being solely personal, I think the Standard Goldwing looks better without the top box, especially when riding solo. That's just me.
bougth a used 2024 tour and installing a quick change kit so I can remove trunk and ride as a bagger around town, and install trunk for long highway trips. Benefits are electronic suspension, heated seat, center stand and taller windscreen.
Thanks for posting/sharing. I like that light grey colour with the orange accents. It looks so cool to me. Canada doesn't get that colour. Not last year nor this coming 2022 year either.
The standard bike looks unfinished to me. The tour is a great looking bike but as the ultimate tourer, the panniers and top box look a bit small. Thanks again TMF.
I have much bigger bags on my Africa Twin! I’m currently looking for a top box to cover the back / passenger seat and I should be good for 1 up touring. I’m not a fan of the stock top box, it’s not an efficient use of space.
I wouldn't leave the dealership unless they agreed to put the center stand as part of the deal then I changed the windscreen for under $200 I find it easier to get on and off the bike it's more sport tour and I never ride 2 up I live in Florida and in 2 years only used the heated grips once one 60 degree morning
Thanks for the video. The ever lasting question of a Goldwing or F6B. I have seen on a website either Canadian or U.S. that you can buy a F6B kind (it's in no way a bagger) and add a quick release trunk adapter. I loved the matt jean blue but didn't have the trunk and to add it, it's over 2000$. I'm going to wait 2023 and keep my beloved 2012.
It never ceases to amaze me how narrow your roads are in the UK. That, plus they just love putting tall hedgerows inches from the road, so not only do you have no shoulders, no place to go, not even a place to pull over if needed, I would think there are a lot of animals getting in the way too. Must be you don't have many deer out your way, where I am in upstate NY those roads would be total suicide! Nice video though, cheers from the other side of the pond!
Thanks for watching Andork - to us these roads are normal, when we come the the US we can't believe how wide your carriageways are! Of course there's a lot more space in the US than there is in the UK!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Heh, well, yeah, we have more acreage for sure, but there's nothing stopping you guys from making your roads a few feet wider and putting the hedgerows further back. I'd be crapping little green apples flying down your roads waiting for a big buck to walk out! It probably stems from the fact you guys have been around about 1000 years longer than us! Your roads were probably plenty wide enough once upon a time!
Sublime motorcycle. No question about this. Rarely mentioned or demonstrated are the backlit handlebar switches for night riding (not found and often wished for on the premium BMW RT and GTL). Also the Gold Wing’s amazing horn. Yes, Horn! In any event these new generation Wings are so smooth and quiet that they can be described as sterile, disconnected and insulated from the ride experience. Sounds terribly negative right? But as you know, hardly so. Just sublimely different. Refined would better suited. Like a Lexus LS 500. Whereas BMW motorcycles have been described as motorcycles with unique character due to the opposing cylinder Boxer design. Same with V Twins. A motorcycle must inspire as well, with it’s aesthetics as you walk away, and do you like what your see. Great review. Thank you. Ride safe and ride often.
Great video as always, I’ve been waiting for this for quite a while! Thanks for the cross comparison! Honest and balanced. For me it depends what you want to use the bike for and how deep are your pockets! With a £7500 difference between the 2 bikes, that may well change peoples perception! For example, I am currently looking to buy the 21 model year, standard Gold Wing DCT, which works out at about £21500 with dealer discounts! Substantial! So I cannot justify the additional cost especially as I will mainly be the only person on it! However of the bike is totally for 2 up touring then it needs to be the Tour version, probably at a discounted rate on a 21 model year, of you want new? Pre owned prices are good at the moment as well with a Tour version being relatively less, £23000 if you din’t mind the smaller luggage capacity! For me I am happy with the Bagger version which rides the same but is more sympathetic on the pocket!
Love the Tour, looks totally in proportion, the standard wing looks to much like a bagger to my eyes, and the fact a premium bike doesn't have as standard heated seats and auto suspension is a bit mean. I'm with you about the value of heated seats my new GS has them now as you know, makes such a difference on chilly days. Us oldies have to keep warm...
Ahoy.. I bought a new black Wing this year after watching your vids and trying one. I'm a solo rider so I really do not need the rear box. I ride with an open face lid and have no problem with the screen size, in fact I like the airflow it gives at its lowest position in towns etc. The music is very clear at 90mph(private roads obviously) so I am not sure I need it louder. The electronic suspension and heated seats would be nice but not essential. Which one should you buy? The right one for you. I would not have been happy spending an extra £7k for the bits I don't need or don't have. Keep up the good work!
I'm hardly if ever going to have a passenger. The top case is nice for travel but I can easily use a removable pack. I much prefer the looks of the non-tour as well as being lighter and felt more flickable. I don't annoy others with my music, preferring to listen through my headset in my helmet. Don't like chrome...prefer to ride than clean so blacked out works better for me. Also didn't want DCT or the electronic suspension...having owned a BMW with electronic suspension it was just something else to fix later. Like I said, the non-tour just fit my needs and personality better. Personal preference...what fits your needs and looks more. I do wish I had heated seat.
The biggest difference for me is the windshield. That was the 1st thing I replaced. I've added a trunk (cheap aftermarket). I'm going to add a factory trunk at some point. To add, I have a 2018 non-tour.
Good video. In the US, the new color is called Matte Nightshade Blue instead of Matte Jeans Blue Metallic, and I have mine ordered. Just waiting for delivery. Cant wait. Moving from a 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT. I will miss the extra gallon of gas, but think overall it will be a better experience for me.
Nice Video off them both, but I liked the tour best. Unfortunately the bike in Denmark is way too expensive for me. But I dream to on one, one day. Thanks for all the videos you make. Deep up the good work 👍🏼😉
2021 tour and standard just have upgraded speakers 45 watts(or is it 50) over the 2018-2020 that had 25-watt speakers. Im not sure but i read some place i belive the reverse function on the tour and standard work different. I was looking at a standard but went with the tour as the extra feature that add more value. Great vid btw.👍
Two Goldwing riders I know traded in their 2013 and 2015 gold wings on 2020 gold wings. A few months later they traded those bikes in on new leftover 2017 gold wings.. they said the new one was not as roomy, especially for the passenger, and the luggage bags and trunk were much larger on the 2017 and older gold wings
Indeed all true - but the new GoldWing (2018 on) look so much sharper and have done great technical improvements - the DCT box for example, the double wishbone front end, etc, etc. I would never have considered the old GoldWing but the new one….wow!
Thanks for another great video MSF. I rode a DCT tour and it was nice and smooth. I like the looks of the standard way better. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
My red 2018 DCT Tour currently has 32k miles on her. I prefer my F4 custom windshields to the Honda version. I mostly use my helmet Bluetooth connected to the bike to listen to my cell phone’s music and playlist. Standard radio reception is horrible on the GW. I don’t like blasting music through the speakers. I will listen through my helmet. Sirius radio works very well with the GW. Don’t ride 2 up. When my bike is paid off in a couple of months I am looking at the bagger version.
I did the same comparison a few months ago. My view was the grey Goldwing looked better but the tour was much better to ride especially with the DCT and the wind protection in the tour was so much better. Both Great bikes though. I need one 😎.
I have the first 2018 Standard imported into Australia. Only ride solo and much prefer the sweeping lines of the Standard. A bigger screen is essential, fixed it with a $20 deflector from eBay. The panniers look good but are too small, very bad design compared to my old FJR. The control buttons on the left side are too close together to use easily with clunky gloves. I bought an elcheapo dolly and bolted it to the garage floor so I just ride in, rotate around and ride out. The DCT is perfect and makes the bike easy to use around town. Makes it very hard to justify having a second smaller bike plus the physical presence of the Wing around town make it less likely that you get smacked by some nong in a car. All in all the best bike I have ever owned.
I think the Goldwing looks better than the tourer, the design has a better flow. I found that the music elevated the riding experience to another level. What I don't like on the new models is the size, I would prefer the size of the previous model. I love the size of my F6b, which has been holding me back from the new model.
Sir you must've had a lot of money to be able to own a Honda Goldwing. Here in Indonesia it costs 1.05B IDR or roughly ~56K GBP. I don't know how much it costs in UK but I assume it's also expensive. I wish I could own one one day.
Nice to see a new video today to get my Saturday off too s good start even though I have no interest in Goldwings. That said of the 2 yours in the blue looks much better in my eyes but my Z1000SX costs me £9000 new and I thought that was a lot of money so can't ever see me buying a bike for over £30,000!
My wife rarely rides with me so I don't need the back box..I've added custom cooled/heated seat as I always do..The stock seat heated or otherwise from Honda always sucks..I've added digital marker, spot, running, engine case turn siginals, Muth mirror turn siginals, a center stand, and many other upgrades and the total cost is still way below the tour price. I'll soon upgrade the sound system... I like the looks without the back box......Comes down to budget and personal Preference.......Majestic Silver and Black for me...Chrome sucks
the tour looks more practical. however most people i know what the old wing is about. so there is a 'nothing to learn' just get out and tour. which ticks all the boxes for me. i don't want waste time working how to use new gadgets or options that i wouldn't normally be using. I need it made simpler not with loads more electronic menus or overly complicated latches or more options i don't want or need. I have enough trouble working how to fold my grand sons buggy to fit in the boot of my car. keep it simple just give me better paint options great channel
Hi Andy - terrific review! I can see the advantages of the Tour version and completely get your reason for getting one. Mrs Flyer must really love being on the back! Can’t get my wife interested so no joy there - so no Goldwing for me. However, you have got me interested enough to go and have a test ride. The main drawback would be parking space. How on earth do you manage? I’m already considering getting another garage to lease but then security becomes an issue! Problems, problems. Yours aye, Alan
I like the bagger look. Since I would have the bike set up with a hitch (I pull a trailer), I'd rather have a luggage rack on the tail for strapping down a motorcycle backpack. Maybe, if I like the looks, an aftermarket trunk without the pillion backrest.
Here in the states the 2021 bagger is $25100. The tour is $29300. Both DCT. I pick up my 2021 Tour next week. Red. Can't wait. Sick of having a sore bum.
I have the same bike as Andy except I don't have the ABS (so mine's the Tour variant). I don't think any of the various options change the basic nature of the bike. It's more just a selection of add-ons you can buy, but the bike is brilliant in all its forms. You can convert from the rear seat to seatless versions with a conversion kit and about 3-4 hours of work in the garage. I might do that, I personally prefer the looks without the armchair, and my missus is never going to take up my offer to join me anyway. There is an adaptor plate on the aftermarket that claims to let you change between having the rear armchair and not in about 15 minutes although it too takes about 3-4 hours to install. It's supposedly much quicker to swap between rear configurations once that's done.
Nice comparison Andy. It would be interesting to see a demonstration video of the airbag being deployed and to see it's theoretical capabilities ( obviously in a "crash test dummy" scenario and not with a real person! )
Good video both look very comfy bikes and full of Tech, your 2019 model in blue looks 👌 To massive for me tho and £30,000 out of my price Range. Have fun at Motorcycles live and I look forward to your summer vids on Goldwing with Mrs Flyer..🏍🏍🏍🏍
I cant make motorcycle live this year, hopefully you will get time to do a bikes review video at the show for you subscriber's who can't make the show....👍👍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍😎😎
I really prefer by far the standard bike as it looks a lot more stylish and sleeker to me although I really prefer the colour and finish options on the tour. One major thing you missed is can you get a full size helmet in the side paniers in the standard? I have not got a chance to test ride one and that would really hold me of in buying a standard and having to add an aftermarket top box to be able to avoid walking around carrying my helmet when I have such a full size bike. Last of all £7,500 more sounds totally unjustified in my opinion, probably an extra £4,000 would be more logical.
I believe you can fit a crash helmet in the side cases in both bikes from the 21 model year (not the case before that) - best try it though rather than taking my word for it!
As a owner of a 2018 Tour 6MT my choice was made after riding them all. And yes I prefer the 6MT with slipper clutch over the Dumb Car Transmission. When it comes to the bagger stripper Wing I would take a Indian Challenger hands down over the Wing. The Tour is the better value and packaged option. Just don't pay anything near MSRP for any of them. I got over $10k off mine and it's not worth a dime more.
I'd have no use for the Tour version with its top box and comfy heated pillion seat because if I spent 31k on a bike the wife would divorce me😂 On the screen front can you see over the screen on the Tour in its lowest position easily so you can see the road surface in front of you, which for me would be important especially if the weather was poor which on tour your bound to experience.
I never had any interest in Gold Wings. Big, bulbous, and bloated. Then, one day as I was wandering through the Honda area of the 2018 motorcycle show in So Cal (Long Beach), I came across this absolutely gorgeous motorcycle. The Honda rep said it was the new Gold Wing. I was in love. However, I learned that the top box wouldn't accommodate two full size helmets, or even my big XL helmet and my armoured jacket (believe me, I tried). I believed that Honda would correct this shortcoming...and they did in the 2021 model. But they didn't offer the bike in my favorite color combo...white with blacked out engine. So I've been waiting for the 2022 model year press release. That came out a few weeks ago. Again, no white. Not only that, no real improvements. Tired of waiting, I went out and bought the new 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 S. What the hell, you say. It checks a lot of the same boxes: comfortable seating position, adjustable windscreen, heated grips and seat, lots of tech, enough storage, long service interval. It doesn't have the range of a Gold Wing, but it makes up for it in silly grin-making acceleration and cornering. Don't get me wrong, I *still* want a Gold Wing. I'll just wait until they have the color I want (and adaptive cruise control...which is an amazing feature of the Multistrada, BTW). Now I want *both* bikes. Damn my lust for motorcycles.
My wife had difficulties holding the passenger grab rails on the tour. So I got the non tour added a top box, changed over the grab rails and saved £6k...and I could get two helmets in the top box where I couldn’t on the 2019 tour variant. As always nice video and thanks for sharing. Paul
It would be nice if they made the tour with a quick release top box. Then you'd have the best of both worlds. Thanks TMF.👍👍
I thought exactly the same thing.
You can have that option via Traxxion Dynamics.
Theres only two bolts that are super hard to get out so I slotted the holes they go through. Just loosen and lift. I didn't opt for the traxxion quick kit, although it is a good option...
@@rooster3019
Correct!
@@FoolishMuleProds the tour can get a top box but it's expensive and a bit cumbersome to install. I just installed it on my non-tour goldwing.
Another great video. I must admit I prefer the looks of the standard “bagger” version, but I can see how the tour is more practical, especially 2 up. 👍
Totally agree, black exhaust looks better too.

Z900rs has that and the touring saddle by Corbin .. It's all ya need 👍.. Oh.. The engine guards with highway pegs are a plus..

Cheers Allen - will do!
Nice one!
My pleasure!
Better get the Gold Wing then!
Did you get it?
@@mikeb8342 I did and I love it. Still miss my Connie, but it was a good decision
I do like the looks of your Honda Goldwing more than the newer one but they both are great bikes.
Thanks for watching Nathan!
Isn't it just Ian - a brilliant bike period!
Fair enough!
Really? The 1975 Goldwing looks like an old man’s bike?
After experimenting with heated seats & grips, those cease to be a deal breaker.
Heated jacket & gloves seem to work better for my rides..
Nice one Bib!
My Dad had a Goldwing in the early 80's (before I was around). I think it was 1100 4-cylinder. I reckon he'd have loved this new one. They're not my thing, as such, but I totally respect the technology and engineering that goes into them.
The new one is a different beast entirely - he would have loved it!!
Andy, looks like you’ve polished your bike to within an inch of its life looks fabulous in that blue. 🤩
I do like a clean vehicle....
Go on Keith, you know you want to!!
Agreed on the colours - don’t know why they have to add one and withdraw one each year….
Out of those two... your dct tour wins it hands down for me personally, it looks fantastic in that blue
Yes I agree (of course!)!
Yes I used to do that - might have to bring it back!
TMF more gr8 Goldie content, hope all is well in the mother country and you winter no too cold. Down under state borders are opening and we have sunshine so my Goldie is getting a good workout. Cheers👍
I think you have picked the best color for the bike. The blue jeans with the red trim combo does look good as well.
Looking forward to some better weather and I will be out on this beautiful machine ! Keep up the good work TMF.
Thanks, will do!
First Goldwing was 1975
I love the colour scheme on the 2021 and think it looks better without that big top box and seat but get that the tour is more practical.
Fair enough!
Yes, but you can add a high quality top box that looks good for €300. The Tour is €5k more.....thats a lot for a top box! The panniers in both being the same, are actually fairly poor capacity and access wise, so from the perspective the Tour isn't any better.
I really like the looks of the bagger version of this motorcycle. Great video, funny bloopers!
That garage bar is a smart idea.
Isn't it - discount details in the description!
Yours looks like a proper Goldwing , I had no idea they came without stuff you'd expect on one . I thought the whole idea was it has everything ?
But I guess I was wrong .. again yours looks lovely ! Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮♥️
I reckon even Goldwings have to have a poverty spec option…..
Well the Goldwing looks ok👍🏽 and it has its place and will suit a lot of people... certainly not me tho...🤣.... like you, I love taking my wife to different places on the bike, which she thoroughly enjoys ..And your Goldwing Andy is a beautiful looker!.. and like you quite rightly said, it looks far more balanced, with practicality
More storage, and the pillion passenger, is going to have the best motorcycle pillion comfort.. it is undoubtedly my favourite looking motorcycle.. one day I am hoping to have a Goldwing dct tour,
Maybe when I officially retire at 66, in less than 2 years😁👍🏽💚
Good plan Stan!
Fair enough! Thanks for watching and stopping by!
bougth a used 2024 tour and installing a quick change kit so I can remove trunk and ride as a bagger around town, and install trunk for long highway trips.
2021 models took care of that.
IMHO I think yours is better Andy, the Blue really pops.
Indeed - most of them are ex cart tracks - hence where the hedges and boundaries lie....
Oh my 650 Versys cannot compete with these road king behemoths in comfort and fancy tech.
I’m just happy to be able to travel freely.
Will do Road Glide and couldn't agree more with your comments - the horn on the goldwing puts many HGV's to shame!! All the best!
Andy that non touring is very nice. Love that grey with black engine. I can’t believe how more expensive the GL is in the UK🙃
Fair do's - I just have a bit of a thing about "Baggers" in general, just not my thing....
Yes heated seats rock!
Had mine 18 months same model and colour. Great piece of engineering. I love release the beast sport mode.
Yes Jeckyll and Hyde comes to mind....
Definitely prefer your Tour version.. looks much more balanced and the colour looks great all matched.. great review and comparison as always
Cheers Pete....
Great review Andy and as always, love the bloopers! 😅👌
Very nice review! And the Tour model comes with tire pressure monitoring system (bottom line on left side gauge), where the standard doesn't.
Yes good point - I knew there would be something I missed!
Fair enough….
Good move - congratulations!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks. It can't come soon enough. I've already started accumulating accessories for it.
Nice Video off them both, but I liked the tour best. Unfortunately the bike in Denmark is way too expensive for me. But I dream to on one, one day. Thanks for all the videos you make. Deep up the good work 👍🏼😉
Cheers - will do!
Yes I think there is a difference in the reverse but not sure what! And I agree (of course) - The Tour is the one to have ;0)
I think the reverse is different on dct bikes compared to manual, dct also has forward creep. The manual uses the starter motor.
Wish I still had my old '77 GL1000 . Great bike.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
..and to you Scott!
Fair enough! All the best for the New Year - TMF
I did the same comparison a few months ago. My view was the grey Goldwing looked better but the tour was much better to ride especially with the DCT and the wind protection in the tour was so much better. Both Great bikes though. I need one 😎.
Totally agree
Yes they are quite something aren’t they…..
I think the Goldwing looks better than the tourer, the design has a better flow. I found that the music elevated the riding experience to another level. What I don't like on the new models is the size, I would prefer the size of the previous model. I love the size of my F6b, which has been holding me back from the new model.
Fair enough Charles - I disagree with you on all points but we’re all different! Thanks for watching….
Sir you must've had a lot of money to be able to own a Honda Goldwing. Here in Indonesia it costs 1.05B IDR or roughly ~56K GBP. I don't know how much it costs in UK but I assume it's also expensive. I wish I could own one one day.
Yes a new one here is around £30k - very expensive machine
i think a 2021 tour vs your tour would be a fairer comparison rather than just a standard 2021. great review as always though 👍🏻
Indeed but I was specifically comparing the two variants rather than the upgrades on the tour model…
@@TheMissendenFlyer i'll shut up then 😂
Great comparison. Super clean garage!! Well done!
Thanks! 👍
Luvly to meet you and Carol today
Daniel
Great to meet you too Dan - hope you got out and home OK?
Nice to see a new video today to get my Saturday off too s good start even though I have no interest in Goldwings. That said of the 2 yours in the blue looks much better in my eyes but my Z1000SX costs me £9000 new and I thought that was a lot of money so can't ever see me buying a bike for over £30,000!
2 new videos today infact!
Another splendid video my friend 👍. Not about the bike but wondering where I can find your sleeveless TMF jacket in your store?
this you mean? themissendenflyer.com/product/softshell-gilet-grey/
Well we can agree about the Chrome (in most cases - some parts like the exhausts I like....it's the bolt on bits I can do without....)
the tour looks more practical. however most people i know what the old wing is about. so there is a 'nothing to learn' just get out and tour. which ticks all the boxes for me. i don't want waste time working how to use new gadgets or options that i wouldn't normally be using. I need it made simpler not with loads more electronic menus or overly complicated latches or more options i don't want or need. I have enough trouble working how to fold my grand sons buggy to fit in the boot of my car. keep it simple just give me better paint options great channel
Great video lovely bikes would be a job to choose which one
Cheers Andy 🏍👍
Hi Andy - terrific review! I can see the advantages of the Tour version and completely get your reason for getting one. Mrs Flyer must really love being on the back! Can’t get my wife interested so no joy there - so no Goldwing for me. However, you have got me interested enough to go and have a test ride. The main drawback would be parking space. How on earth do you manage? I’m already considering getting another garage to lease but then security becomes an issue! Problems, problems. Yours aye, Alan
Yes welcome to my world Alan!
I like the bagger look. Since I would have the bike set up with a hitch (I pull a trailer), I'd rather have a luggage rack on the tail for strapping down a motorcycle backpack.
Maybe, if I like the looks, an aftermarket trunk without the pillion backrest.
I am leaning towards the Goldwing Tour myself.
Good call!
Do it, you wont regret. Go for the DCT.
DCT TOUR all day long! Nice video.
Here in the states the 2021 bagger is $25100. The tour is $29300. Both DCT. I pick up my 2021 Tour next week. Red. Can't wait. Sick of having a sore bum.
Congrats and enjoy Jim!
I love the gold wing I think yours is a much better looking bike not sure about white and black love the blue 👍
I do enjoy the bloopers at the end.
Hmm, qite a big job though I understand.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yes. I'm sure the quoted 3-4 hours would become 2 days with me in charge of the spanners!
Did I say mine didn't have the ABS? I meant airbag. Wot a plonker...
Nice comparison Andy. It would be interesting to see a demonstration video of the airbag being deployed and to see it's theoretical capabilities ( obviously in a "crash test dummy" scenario and not with a real person! )
Yes I’d like to see that too!
Good video both look very comfy bikes and full of Tech, your 2019 model in blue looks 👌
To massive for me tho and £30,000 out of my price Range. Have fun at Motorcycles live and I look forward to your summer vids on Goldwing with Mrs Flyer..🏍🏍🏍🏍
So do I - cheers David!
I cant make motorcycle live this year, hopefully you will get time to do a bikes review video at the show for you subscriber's who can't make the show....👍👍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍😎😎
Err - sort of...
No disrespect to you but big bikes of this nature have no appeal to me but the blue colour scheme that you own is very nice indeed.Thanks.
Nice review, thanks and merry christmas to you and your family
And to you and yours!
Fair enough!
Cant imagine a public road in Canada like that!! Too much large wildlife here!
BTW your on the wrong side of the road...😅
Yours deffo looks better than t'other one. But crikey, a new one would cost more than I recently paid for my new car!
Crazy prices aren't they....
Welcome to my world!! Thanks for writing….
It don't matter to me, I want all the Goldwings
