    I am by no means an expert on these. But I am a retired mechanic with over 40 years of experience. And I started building these out of sheer boredom. I may not be experienced as most of these guys. I've only Built eight of them. All I ever use is Walmart bicycles. The cheapest engine kit I can find. I do not use the rag joint sprockets. I bought the clamp-on CNC machine sprockets. And I no longer have a problem with the chain tensioners on those because the sprocket runs true. I have bought high performance heads.. high performance carburetors.. high performance coils. High performance air cleaners.. only to be out run by my cheapest stock bike that I bought. I do not ride these box a hundred miles a day. I build them a ride them and I'll sell them. But I make sure they are fairly dependable.

      DITTO MAN I USE WALMART BEECH CRUISERS AND RELUBE EVERYTHING AND TEAR DOWN THE MOTORS AND KITS TILL THEY ARE FLAWLESS AND THEN RESELL AFTER BROKEN IN I SELL FOR ONLY 350$ COMPLETE IN NEW JERSEY WHERE DO YOU SELL ALSO HOW MUCH ?

    I still think buying the kit is a good idea since its only a few extra bucks more than an engine and tank. You can see if you like it and upgrade slowly as you see fit. Its part of the fun IMO.

    I had the plastic tensioner for 4 hours and it DESTROYED my wheel and it was basically just as cheap to buy a whole new bike then it was a wheel so I bought a new bike and that same tensioner that you have

      Jackson Ramsey odd, I have over 10,000 miles on my tensioner and not one problem. I'm guessing yours was operator error.

    I heard that these Grubee engines were some of the best, but not cheap. You made some nice choice of upgrades. I ordered the kit at first as a guide.

    I haven’t even finished my bike build and Totally Agree with you here. I bought the kit then the tensioner then the sprocket and now need a chain because the kit chain won’t fit the sprocket. What a pain.

  • @VirantRoss

    That is a nice tensioner. I bought the same adapter but I only paid $39 for a cnc Sprocket and adapter on ebay.

    All they bikes including all the brands you mentioned are made in the same plants overseas! As far as the kit if you break them down before installation no problem. Its a hobby, not a money pit. The hub adapter is a must. Everything else is supposed to be fun. And the hub adapters go for 35 and up. 100 bucks for one is 🤣🤣🤣! Don't take this serious! If you're looking for a catchall form of transportation...this aint it! Its a fun HOBBY!!

    wal mart sales some really good bikes they sale the mongoose mack witch is one of the best bikes to motorize.

  • @ebperformance8436
    @ebperformance8436 4 роки тому +1

    Yeah I got a mongoose from wallmart due to it being light and aluminum.....WORST BIKE EVER FOR THESE KITS, it required lots of fabrication,...to get motor to fit I had to shave the front mount” to the engine down....tried using a beach cruiser custom mount, it didn’t work...so I cut the mount into two pieces of metal shave the front mount wider so it sat in the frame..then used the u clamp.
    Bought a shorter intake for carb and it wouldn’t run....had to use the stock intake and it ran went around the Coulter sack 3 times and the chain popped off.
    I decided to buy the hub setup....the problem was I had a 1 in hub and the hub adapter was for a 1.5. Ordered one for a 1 inch and now I’m working on it ...it came with a rubber sleeve...I know later I will need to fabricate a key chuck to the hub, but for now I’m gonna use the piece of rubber the hub kit comes with....the jack shaft kit hit the frame.,,,,so I’m adding a bigger pully wheel from a car I have to shave the rib down flat for the chain.
    DO NOT GET THE MONGOOSE....I THOUGHT IT WOULD FIT BEING 29 in tires, I hauls ass tho

    the best advice I have ever heard somebody say about motorized bicycles was the first thing out of your mouth do not buy a cheap Chinese bicycle from Walmart I see all these people who build up $80 bicycles one guy did a superb build on an $80 Walmart bike it just doesn't make any sense and these cheap Chinese bicycles aren't meant for Motors and they really can't take the abuse

    hey bobby franklin i read your message above and I'm also a mechanic and buy Walmart bikes but also build them to sell but I break the engines in and upgrade the performance and shitty components also using Loctite so ive yet to see one fall apart but the 1st 100cc motor I've bought ever seezed up during breaking but that was calsed by rod bearings so i now always dump a cap or 2 full of 2 stroke oil down the sparkplug whole if i don't tear it down completely but yea where you selling your builds at I'm in new jersey

      lol, I actually just found it and was looking at the page haha. I googled "engine mounted spring tensioner".
      Gonna cost around $88AUD to get priority shipped to Australia, but after mucking about with the cheap crap in the kits, I figure its worth it!

    • @JustinCase-en2rb
      @JustinCase-en2rb  8 років тому +1

      You are going to love this tensioner. I've put about 1000 miles on my bike since installing it. I have not had ONE problem with the chain since. It quiets chain noise and also allows the bike to ride so much smoother when just peddling it or walking it. 100% worth the $

    • @JustinCase-en2rb
      @JustinCase-en2rb  8 років тому +2

      Hey James! so the adapter I have is for a 1.5 inch hub. basically a coaster brake bike. my hub being a 7 speed is 1 inch. The reducer bushing I have reduces it. I bought my sprocket,reducer bushing and adapter from mmbikeparts.com (manic mechanic) I would recommend getting a digital caliber (got mine from Pep Boys $15.99) and measuring your hub to get the exact size.

    • @squid_stunts5092
      @squid_stunts5092 8 років тому +2

      Haha you have better support than bitchberries whole team. I tried electrical tape, aluminum foil tape and sand paper lol (worked the best but still slipped) They knew nothing of this reducer an basicly said im fucked. an then these guys custom fit it to my hub size. wow. Ay man you def accomplished your goal. this was the part I was about to hang up the wrenches on. Thanks alot

    • @paramandans
      @paramandans 7 років тому

    Look man I get it you’ve had problems but you isn’t everyone man. There’s heaps of examples where even 80 cc kits bone stock have lasted on a 10 year old Kmart bike and never has not one bit of mods or any problems. There’s so many things that could’ve gone wrong on your bike but sometimes it’s not the bikes fault.
