    One category of explanation for the Fermi Paradox is the Time Elapsed Argument, or TEA. TEA is essentially a watered-down version of the Rare Earth hypothesis, arguing not that Earth has a few rare traits which are required to make life possible, but that it has several uncommon traits which allow it to arise and evolve more quickly. For instance, life on Earth is capable of mouse movement, which reduced the time taken for multicellular life to evolve from over 15 billion years to merely 2.1 billion years; this one factor enabled Earth life to evolve more than seven times as quickly, allowing its species to reach the Space Stage in half the lifetime of a typical yellow dwarf star.

    A couple ideas:
    1. Can Cell Stage be beaten (automatically or manualy) with the worst possible cell? (a pitiful worm, but with its spine at the maxmum size and the carnivore jaw on its "tail" instead of its "head")
    2. Can Creature Stage be beaten semi-automatically? (probably by holding W until a creature that isn't your species comes into Tab range, then pressing Tab and spamming the 1 key)

    Spitballing some future experiment/challenge video ideas, hopefully they aren’t repeats of stuff you’ve already done. Love your videos btw!
    *Can you beat…*
    - Cell stage as a carnivore without directly killing?
    - Creature stage without socializing or directly killing?
    - Tribal stage without any tools at all (only natural weapons)?
    - Civilization stage without a single spice geyser?
    - Space stage without buying any upgrades at all?
    - The entire game on a planet modified to be the most difficult possible?
    - _All of these at once?_
    *Can you…*
    - Kill an epic in creature stage? (I’d especially love to see this one)
    - _Become_ an epic?
    - Walk across the entire planet in a completely straight line in creature stage?
    - Wipe out your own empire in space stage?
    - Wipe out the Grox?
    - Use charmed epics to beat Civilization stage somehow?

    • @TheLeafcuter
      @TheLeafcuter Рік тому +39

      I know you can kill an epic in creature stage, but only if you manage to lure it into a nest where it'll be overwhelmed. I think it's best if you do it in your own nest as well, since they can't go extinct and would continuously spawn

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  Рік тому +58

      Thank you!
      These are interesting ideas! Definitely some of these are in the works ;)
      Creature without killing/socializing other creatures could be done by eating eggs if that doesn't count as killing. Maybe worth experimenting with to figure out egg spawn rates!
      Space only needs Interstellar Drive 2 to reach the Center of the Galaxy, which I believe is the absolute minimum needed like I do here :) ua-cam.com/video/M6KMM7uwLkk/v-deo.html
      It's possible to fly/walk across the whole Creature Stage planet using the Sea Monster bypass glitch like in this video (at the end) :) ua-cam.com/video/Cx6DSzTVmto/v-deo.html
      When destroying our own Space Empire the game will automatically spawn a new city on our home planet when the last city is destroyed. I've seen mods to allow Planet Buster on the home planet, but it's not usually possible.
      I haven't actually worked with the charmed Epics in Civ very much, I should look into how those work more!

      ive personally beat creature stage without socializing or killing (i literally just ate eggs the entire run it was Very Interesting), tribal stage without tools should probably be possible if your creatures offensive stats are good enough (ive had runs where i went without axes (i dont use other weapons) for a while and just relied on my creature's natural attacks), ive also killed a few epics in creature stage. so all of that is possible. neato

    • @DagothBob
      @DagothBob Рік тому +16

      I don't think you can become an epic, but in earlier patch versions of Spore there were reports of people being able to turn their befriended rogue animals into epics by killing epics until the game randomly assigned their teammate rogue to become the new one. I've never seen it happen myself, though.

    In cell stage the specific amount of 334 seconds pet billion years seemed a little interesting to me: Behind the scenes of the code I would bet that 333 seconds would be the equivalent of 999 million years, for a constant rate of 3 million years a second, with the final 334th second tipping it over to 1 billion and then getting rounded or truncated.

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  Рік тому

      Space empire locations and their archetypes should be the same every time and for everyone. This was really important for routing speedruns with the community for the fastest way to the Center of the Galaxy as some empires would and would not sell Energy Packs. Wormhole locations are also in the same locations however the wormhole connections to each other are random for each game (specifically in the "Spore" folder in the Roaming folder in Windows).
      I'm not sure about how seeding works but some stuff like stars and empire locations are consistent across all games whereas wormhole connections and Artifact locations are generated per game. And planets within stars are generated at the time of exploring them for the first time :)
      I'd love to see a Star Wars or Star Trek themed Space Stages! Would have been really cool to have a Federation in Space Stage!
