This was from their induction to the RRHOF. Watch the original video and see how little difference 30+ years makes. Nancy sings lead on "These Dreams". The live performance from Olympia is killer. Anne's back-up is stunning.
In 1975 I was a college student. I was in a local bar in Vancouver BC, Oil Can Harry's. They had a band from Seattle headlined by two beautiful young ladies. HEART!! Yes in a bar. I was dancing within a few feet of these eventual Hall of Fame rockstars. You always say that you wished that you had grown up in the 70's? Better than you can ever imagine. I also saw Hendrix in 1968 as a 15 year old. AMAZING!!
Omg.....I remember Oil Can Harry's! Yes, being able to see a soon-to-be famous band in a bar is hard for some to fathom, but everyone starts out somewhere. I remember going to a Toronto bar in 1974 to see Rush! I also would frequent the El Mocambo (Toronto) where they seem to book incredible talent before they became famous - Tom Waits, Blondie, U2, Elvis Costello, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Meat Loaf, Ramones.....the list goes on. Hendrix must have been incredible and what a great memory! In 1970 as a 17 year old, I was as close as one could get to the stage taking in a mind-blowing performance by Janis Joplin. Four months later she was gone - one month after Hendrix.
This clip is when Heart was inducted for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the "Band" are actually guys from the original band playing along with the present day band together. Not a bad combo and something you won't see every day! A once in a life time super group for one night!
I met Anne and Nancy back in 1982,, Their tour came to my town and we were playing frisbee in a parking lot and a bus pulled up, They got out along with their crew and started playing frisby with us they were the coolest, You could do that in those days... We were just a bunch of punk teenagers and they mentioned us during the live show we were going to that night. They are the realist... 😍✌️ Rock and roll hall of fame well deserved...
Nancy Wilson is the worlds greatest female guitarist ever. Ann and Nancy are sisters. When i was a little one my nickname was Barracuda because i loved that song so much.
Both sisters play the acoustic guitars although Nancy mostly does it. Nancy was still doing her kicks in her 60's! And Ann's voice is more mellow but still the best!
Ann Wilson has one of the greatest voices in rock 😂music ever. She has a huge range and extremely powerful voice that is one that no one could ever deny. Nancy is ❤a great guitarist and a great backup vocalist. HEART is just an amazing band!!
Another great live Heart video. I don’t mind the live versions of songs when it comes to the good ones!! EDIT: Nancy Wilson (the blond sister) sings lead on the song These Dreams and it is fantastic.
Been in love with Heart since 1978❤️ when I was 22 (yes I’m old) they are timeless female rock legends and grateful for you reintroducing them to your generation.
1978 was a tough year for me. I fell in love with Ann and Nancy Wilson. Spoiler alert... They both broke my heart (Pun Intended). Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks also dumped me.
Its so cute to hear Nancy refered to as the blonde lady.....she was a rock goddess in my day. I love so much watching someone from the younger generation respond to and so appreciate our memories of younger days!!!! Thank you for that❤
Nancy not only kills it on guitar but she is a very good singer as well. She sings lead on the song These Dreams. There is a very good acoustic version on UA-cam
We TOLD you they are rock goddesses :) This was their first hit. Ann Wilson reckons she's sung it like 16,000 times. This one is a fine one to react to live, as she stays close to the original arrangement.
Say it again for the kids in the back. GODDESSES...No auto tune, no multiple writers, all pure instrumentation. Anne is one of the best female vocalists we'll ever see, and it's criminal that Nancy doesn't get as much respect, her high harmonies are ridiculous.
Love that you’ve discovered and are enjoying Heart!! The Wilson sisters were female pioneers of rock in the 70s and have had an incredibly long and successful career because of their insane talent. I’ve seen them many times (first time in 1978) and they are amazing. Ann Wilson has one of the best voices in rock n roll and is a legend. You go Britt!! ❤
Her voice still is amazing for 70 but you should really hear her when she first came out with these songs she was unreal talent❤ the Wilson sisters are my all time fav rockstars!
Nancy, the rhythm guitarist and Ann's sister, sings lead on 'These Dreams' and wait until you hear how much she sounds like her sister! Almost can't tell their voices apart.
Rock Goddesses with stellar backup virtuoso musicians is Heart. Highly, highly respected by all other rock musicians. Now, you'll need to step into the realm of another couple of lady rock legends: Chrissie Hynde (and the Pretenders) and Annie Lennox (the Eurythmics). Upfront Girl Power!!
These ladies are owned by the Pacific Northwest. Seattle to Vancouver, Canada. They are huge icons here for all of us 70s kids. I am from Vancouver. To me they are honorary Canadians as they lived and played here for years. Love, love them
Nancy was always extremely animated in her performances. No girls could "man-handle" a guitar like Nancy Willson! She was so much fun to watch that when they came out with a video game; Guitar Hero for Women, Nancy was the model that they used for the avatar. High kicking, foot work, splits all while playing that guitar! She was incredible!
Brit you've got to do "Alone" by Heart. I think its the official music video. It looks like an older live performance but i think its actually the official video
Nancy Wilson is just BAD!! Ann Wilson is easily one of the greatest female rock voices of all time. Rock ROYALTY indeed!!!! "These Dreams" Ann and Nancy sound very much alike Ann just has a much fuller voice. In These Dreams they go back and forth with Nancy leading the vocals.
Nancy is much more than an accomplished acoustic guitarist. She also plays electic guitar, 12-string guitar, mandolin, piano, organ, and blues harp (harmonica). I may have missed an instrument. "These Dreams" is the most famous and successful Nancy lead song, but check out "Nada One" from "Dog and Butterfly". Plus she wrote and sang the song "All For Love" for her then-husband Cameron Crowe's film "Say Anything".
Great reaction Britt 👍. As you know by know, the blonde girl is Nancy Wilson the sister of Ann the lead singer. There from Washington state. Loved them ever since that 1st album of theirs "Dream boat Anne". Nancy sang tne song "These Dreams". Check it out on the concert from Seattle or Olympia it was awesome. Plus than react to "Magic Man" live by them in 1976. God bless you sweetie 🙏 🙂👍❤
This is from Heart’s Rock Hall induction….all from this is Fire! Ann and Nancy Wilson are such an Important part of Rock History! Keep going….Please and Thank You!
Ironically Nancy (the blonde) rarely sang lead but had the first #1 hit for the band "These Dreams" followed closely by her big sister Anne with her first #1 hit "Alone". I saw them many times in concert, they were and are amazing.
I knew you would love this performance. Also nice job hitting the high notes! Nancy, the blonde guitarist, does the lead vocals on "These Dreams," which is a much more laidback song. What sets Heart above most bands in my mind is the nuanced complexity and wide variations of their songs, and they are consistent hitmakers.
Yes, more Heart reactions please! To answer your questions: Heart is a band with many line up changes over the years. Their first line up is my favorite. Heart is led by the sisters Ann & Nancy Wilson. *On Heart studio albums Nancy Wilson (the guitarist) sings lead on:* Treat Me Well Nada One Raised On You The Situation One Word Love Mistake These Dreams There's the Girl Strangers of the Heart Stranded I Want Your World to Turn Ring Them Bells (shared lead with Ann and Layne Staley) Will You Be There (In the Morning) Things I Need the Rain Led to One I'm Fine Hello Moonglow
I have to agree, I like the live versions, but I think the original MV of this song is just great. I was going to suggest this version also, but you beat me too it.
Ann and Nancy are rock royalty!!!! Heart does excellent live version of Elton John's Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters where Nancy (blonde) sings really beautifully and Ann's back vocals are gorgeous!!!!!!
Thank you for reacting to this. My favorite Heart song among many outstanding ones. One of the 5 greatest lines ever, " what you gonna do when everybody's insane? "
Nancy Wilson is so underrated as a musician. Mainly because she plays rhythm not lead. But her skills are masterful. Musicians were rarely the "cool kids". We were the band geeks, stoners, or weirdos. Typically hated and picked on by the cool kids and jocks. Ironically, we are now the ones getting all the girls lol.
Guitarist Nancy Wilson is the younger sister of Ann Wilson the vocalist. The band is theirs. They grew up as military brats. Their father retired in the Seattle area. Nancy does lead vocals on a few songs, mostly covers. However, Heart's first number one single was "These Dreams" which Nancy lead. The band is headed by Ann and Nancy. Other members have changed over the years. The Heart catalog is sizable and powerful, but the sisters remain humble.
I wasn't a huge Heart fan when they first came out. I didn't dislike them, but just wasn't a huge fan. Then I saw them live through a set of strange circumstances in the early 80's, and I've been a loyal fan ever since. This performance was in 2013. Ann was 63 years old there and no, her voice is not what it was when I saw her live, but it has barely missed a step in all those years. Aside from their own music, which is impressive enough, their covers of Led Zeppelin are without equal imo.
Nancy never ever does the intro to this song in the exact same way. It is one of the best intros in the world and it is always a pure delight to hear what she comes up with in the moment.
The more younger generation music reviewers I find, falling in love with all the great rock and roll bands, the more privileged I feel for having grown up with these groups and having been able to enjoy their music when it was first released. I surely didn't realize it then.
I think I was lucky to be a 9 year old boy in Seattle in the late 70's and hear Hearts music on constant rotation on the radio, knowing that there were 2 sisters fronting the band and thinking that was normal. I really didn't know they were breaking down barriers.
If you watch the movie FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, Nancy Wilson has a cameo at the end of the movie. She is in a black sports car and pulls up beside one of the main characters at a stop light.
They're a Seattle band and I was lucky enough to see them perform in 1980 or 81 on their "Dog and Butterfly" tour. You should also check out "Magic Man" !!
This looks like their rock and roll hall of fame induction in 2013… I was there in the audience! I went to see RUSH get inducted that year but HEART was also getting inducted that year as well. Nancy was wearing that outfit so thats what makes me believe its the R&RHOF induction ceremony at the Nokia theater in LA 2013. Helluva night
Saw them when I was in my early 20s. I'm in my 60s now. I went to many concerts back then and Heart was my all time favorite!!! I didn't want it to end! Ann went over to a speaker and drank water several times. She was ripping her voice to the extreme. Best female rocker EVER!!!!
Wanna see Ann hit an F sharp? Check out the same song (altho' Nancy once said she never does the guitar work the same for each performance) in their earliest performances...like 1977 or so. Still 60+ years old...they are still astonishingly good.
From the album Dreamboat Annie. It was an introduction to my pre-teen self that women can be badass too! Anne Wilson (vocals) and her sister Nancy (guitar) are not just rock stars, they are rock LEGENDS! Check out White Lightening and Wine off the same album.
Happy Saturday Britt. 🎼🎼🖤🔥🖤🎼🎼 .. yepp , this is Rock Royalty. The band is total elite playing .. but the sisters are out of this world. Nancy Wilson is excellent on guitar , and she can sing amazingly. Sister Ann Wilson can soar like nobody in Rock n Roll. Luvvvvvvvvvvv ❤ this song. Thanks
Heart definitely still got it... I will admit that the original versions were a little cleaner but the chops are still there. Glad you are doing them and enjoying the music I grew up on. Great job Britt!
Since you have clearly fallen down the Heart rabbit hole, and deservedly so as they are awesome, don't forget that one day before you are done with the band you need to react to live versions of "Dog And Butterfly" and "The Battle of Evermore"! Until then, enjoy the journey, and we will enjoy you enjoying their music!!
Seen them twice back in the 80's, phenomenal concerts. Sisters ann and Nancy Wilson from Seattle. Ann lead and Nancy kills it on guitar and harmonies. Nancy does sung on their only Billboard #1, These Dreams.
I was lucky enough to play in a really great wedding band when I was in high school back on the 80's. I was one of two guitar players and we had two amazing female singers. So, of course we played a lot of Heart: Barracuda, Magic Man, Straight On, Even it Up, Tell it Like it Is. I loved playing those songs.
Amazing performance. Ann is over thirty years older than when this was first recorded. She doesn't have the pipes she had years ago, but she's still a vocal powerhouse few could hope to match. And her sister Nancy is so under rated. If I were to name the 5 greatest guitarists of the Rock Era, Nancy would definitely be in the line-up. She is simply amazing!
You need to go see them live !! They are awesome and will keep you rocking .. I have seen them every tour since 1980. Oh yeah, a few years back right when they got thru playing Crazy on You I was standing by the stage, and I threw my hand up to Nancy and she gave me a high five ! Woot ! ☮️😎 .. and yes Nancy does sing on several songs. They can also do some crazy good Zeppelin🎶.. have fun and enjoy they are the best ❤️
Great choice, Britt. Your analysis of songs and bands is from a point of view different from most other reactors; you notice things and comment on them that others do not. That’s a good thing. If you enjoyed Heart, the acoustic guitar, soaring vocals, and finely crafted lyrics, I believe you would thoroughly enjoy Melissa Etheridge. Right from the start on her self titled 1988 album, Melissa laid bare her emotions, often in raw form. When I sold music I used to describe her as: if Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan had had a kid, she would have been Melissa Etheridge. I like uncommon or unusual language in songs. Melissa gets an A++ in that department and plays her tail off. I’ve seen her twice in concert, both times before 1991. Unreal. May I suggest starting with “Like The Way I Do” and “Somebody Bring Me Some Water.” Anybody married or in a serious relationship who comes home to find their mate singing “Like The Way I Do” (which isn’t what happened) should just turn around and leave; you will have no good answer, things cannot be salvaged IMO.
Love this song, love everything about it, when i hear this song iam like YES go crazy on me 😊😊😊 and i just get swept away by the song to a place of ecstasy 🔥🔥🔥
The blonde guitarist (Nancy) provides lead vocals on “These Dreams”. I was lucky to see Heart live back in 1984.
Saw them way back in '77, the day Elvis died.
My personal favorite Heart song for decades. Gotta love Nancy.
I have always loved that song
@@vernhoke7730 Funny, I saw Kiss day Elvis died. They broke a guitar on stage for him.

Until then, enjoy the journey, and we will enjoy you enjoying their music!!
I look forward to you discovering how great they really were.
if you want to hear Anne Wilson's most incredible... listen to the studio version of "Tell It Like It Is....." INCREDIBLE...
This is when they got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yes, their band was awesome.
Seen them twice back in the 80's, phenomenal concerts. Sisters ann and Nancy Wilson from Seattle. Ann lead and Nancy kills it on guitar and harmonies. Nancy does sung on their only Billboard #1, These Dreams.
my favorite band of all time, hands down..they shred..
Saw Heart in May of 1976 when this song was a hit. They were crazy good. They opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jefferson Starship - such a great concert!
Dog & Butterfly features them both singing. It's beautiful.
Yes, Nancy sings There’s The Girl! Awesome song!
Britt: Heart is coming to Atlanta May 10th. You must go see them. Unbelievable talent they have.
Blonde lady sings lead on "These Dreams". Great song to react to!
The Wilson sisters are amazing. I have a lot of their music on my gym playlist.
I think this early to mid ‘90s? back when I was (still am) absolutely infatuated with these two talented ladies!
ROCK LEGENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, Ann’s sister, Nancy, does sing lead in some me songs. 🥰🎶
Back in the day they were one of the few female rock bands with lead female singers so yeah they're up there at the top legends
From an album in the '70s and they are still killing it!
Love this song, love everything about it, when i hear this song iam like YES go crazy on me 😊😊😊 and i just get swept away by the song to a place of ecstasy 🔥🔥🔥
She is absolutely one of the greatest guitarist ever! Don't sleep on her skills!
