I tried this with my Cetaphil mostrizing cream, and it helped minimize the peeling i had! Thank you! Now, I can continue to use my retinol so I can see results. 🎉
I have very sensitive skin and just started using adapalene every other night one week ago. I have noticed some peeling. Would it be okay to apply a hydrating toner/essence or serum instead of a moisturizer as the first step in the sandwich method? Or does it have to be a moisturizer?
If your skin is oily or doesn’t get irritated, applying tretinoin on HA is totally fine. I just applied my tretinoin on my snail mucin and it’s 👌🏻. You don’t need a moisturizer under tretinoin if your skin doesn’t get dry and irritated
Isn’t the sandwich method taking away the purpose of the tretinoin which is the exfoliation or peeling? I thought that it had to peel for it to work? I barely started to use it, so I thought that it was normal. And I’m glad you mentioned the snail mucin bc I use that too and the moisturizer as well.
@@Msrs4503 the sandwich will minimize the appearance of peeling but not diminish the efficacy of your retinol. Works great for those with sensitive skin
Can we use salicylic acid cleansing gel and tonic on our routine while we are using Retinoic acid. Will it irritate the skin? Do I have to use more gently cleanser and tonic ?
0.025% tretinoin (not the same as retinol, retinol is OTC and percentage across different brands isn’t always the same). Tretinoin available by prescription in the US

Doesn’t have to be a moisturizer as long as it’s something hydrating
What if the first layer is Hyaluronic Acid? Or is it better to just use a simple moisturizer cream?
