thank you so muchh for explain how to use it proper, im 53 menopausal romanian woman , and i just start tretinoin , using 3x a week ...for 2 months ..this week ( 10th oct 2024 ) will start to use 5 days per week.
Thanks! My experience is that I’ve used 0.025 Tretinoin for over a year. I can tolerate 3 nights per week. But even then have an overall redness, so I started doing short contact 3x per week to see if I can built to more nights. I’m basically always scheming to get more Tret on my face! Its worth it because (after months of the Tretinoin uglies) I now have a nice healthy glow and my acne is managed. Thanks again, love all your videos!
I’m doing .1% and it’s been almost a week and I use it every night and have not experienced any flaking or peeling. Is it working? I put it in dry clean skin and then after it absorbs I put castor oil on my face. I always use oils because lotions don’t work for me. Any answers, please.
For many every other night is enough to see great results. The more you use the better results but you have to balance with side effects including irritation, dryness and peeling
Hey Dr. Abby, can I combine castor oil with my moisturizer? My doctor advised me to use tret 0,05 every night (I guess she shouldn't have) because I started peeling alot and my skin got red. I am trying to fix my skin barrier but at the same time I don't want to stretch out my tret healing process too much. Can I apply it every other night or just twice a week for the start?
Yes you can apply the tretinoin every 2-3 nights and you can certainly use castor oil. What I find helps the most for skin barrier repair is a zinc based barrier cream like a diaper cream (the Honest company) or laroche posay cicaplast Baum
@@doctor-abby Thank you so much! I am using LRP Cicaplast, I feel it helps but it is sticky and just kinda sits on the skin, I will continue to use it. I appreciate your fast reply.
I used tretinoin 0.5% for 3 years in a row, but due to some life situations, I stopped most of my skin care routine, including tretinoin. now things are more stable now in my life and I want to get back to using it again but I'm alittle bit worried about how should I start using it again? should l just continue using everyday again or should I start it slowly as it's the first time? and thanks so much for the videos it's really amaizing❤
Any tips about the pilling? I have a 0.025 gel and I can’t apply any kind of moisturizer before (or after) without it pilling, even if I use an incredibly tiny amount.
i just went to dermatologist today due to uneven skin due to mask wearing and it cause demarcation lines i think it’s called and he prescribed a tretonoin 0.025 every night and azealic acid from the ordinary every morning and also tinted sunscreen, what do you think about that? and my next appointment is in 3 months.(also some background information the parts that wear covered with mask are whiter than the parts that weren’t covered so you can imagine that and was wearing it for like 4 years but stopped) HOPE YOU SEE THIS 🙏🏽
Hey new to skincare never used any products except facewash. Having combination skin. Having little uneventone skin colour although it's clear skin no issues except tanning on face especially on forehead. Sometimes it looks dull. What should I do? Should I go for RETINOL serum or Tretinoin cream? Or any other acid serum? Thank you.
Good start is vitamin c serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. Once you get used to that, could add aha/bha a few nights a week and if tolerating that- then would add retinol 3-5 nights a week
Dear Dr abby! I have tiny bumps in my neck and been to 2 different board certified dermatologists in the hospital. They can’t figure out what it is. After trying a few creams without success they have have now prescribed me tretinoin.. (that’s how I ended up here). They think it could be KP - but on my neck. (But still not sure) As expected my skin got really sensitive from the different creams so thank you for these tips.. Do you think tretinoin could help with keratosis bumbs?
How long should I wait to add moisturizer after applying tretinoin?? Please help I’m always afraid that when I apply my moisturizer it just wipes it off. Also how do I avoid sun exposure, I live in Phoniex Az and it’s really hard to try to avoid it. I wear sunscreen and apply it in the morning, but that’s it how often should I be reappy? Also if I wear makeup will that protect my skin? Or should I just totally lay off the make up and stick to sunscreen? Pleas help I would really appreciate it:)
Let tretinoin absorb for about a minute then follow with moisturizer. Wearing a wide brimmed hat and UPF clothes and trying to stay out of the sun mid day is best. Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours if you’re going to be out for more than 20-30 minutes. Makeup doesn’t provide a ton of protection for sun but it offers some
Thankyou for your video !! Can i add lots of rich oil and cream layers over the top of the tretonoin or will that cause irritation also because of wet skin ?
hello just wondering is it normal to see two new pigmentation spots a week after starting the cream? and do you use the tranexamic and azaelic acid at the same time or in the morning?
It may be that they’re just irritated and more pronounced but I would definitely avoid sun to avoid pigmented spots. Yes can use azelaic acid and tranexamic acid same time but would make sure your skin is acclimated to the tretinoin alone first
Hi doc i wanted to ask ever since i had shingles on my left side of the face im left with scars....and have scars from this i was advised to use MelB 3serum and melaB3 gel micro peeling and tretinoin 0.05 cream.... what would you advise watching from south africa
I think that all sounds like a reasonable plan. The biggest thing (especially in South Africa where the sun is strong) is to avoid sun and use excellent sun protection. Even a little sun on the scars will make them hyperpigment
@@doctor-abby Yup. I use it everyday. Ty for your response. I haven't had an official diagnosis but it sure looks like it. 🤣 I use Eltamd UV Sport sunscreen.
@@doctor-abby just a pea size amount before bed time. Followed by Cerave moisturiser which i apply 30 minutes after. I am using a gel version of tretinoin at 0.25%.

Use moisturizer before and after
can we use clindamycin phosphate & nicotinamide gel on days when not using tretinoin ?
Yes they can all be used together on the same day too
@@doctor-abby thank you doc 🤗
Hi Abby, wondering about diminishing returns with Tretinoin. Is every night use "considerably" more effective than every other night long-term?
For many every other night is enough to see great results. The more you use the better results but you have to balance with side effects including irritation, dryness and peeling

That’s exactly what I would have done. Be really god about sun protection 👍
Hey dr can you use aloe vera gel 95% then trention then cerva moisutizer cream? and how long do you have to wait to apply trention
Yes. You can apply tretinoin when the aloe Vera absorbs
Thank you Dr. Abby! :3

Tretinoin can help with KP but give it some time. Consider a zinc oxide paste to help with symptoms as well if irritated from the tretinoin

Hello, I use .025 for sometime now, about 4 times a week. I want to go up to .05, do I start 1 day per week or still continue with 4 days?
Would continue with 4 days until you make sure your skin can handle before increasing to daily
Does this help melasma? I looked really close today on my cheekbones and it looks like I'm in the beginning stages. 🥴
Yes it can. The first step is excellent sun protection to prevent and reverse

Can we use it for dark spots in the body?
Yes
If i use this at night, would it be okay to use my full face mask cpap?
Yes
Can we apply for under eyes Milia
Yes
Using it for 6 months still getting lots of redness, burning when i apply moisturiser later on...am i just not tolerating it at this point?
How often are you applying? Try a since based barier cream on top like La Roche posay cicaplast Baum

Can do either but the higher percentage may cause more irritation
Where can we buy your trentinoin
Prescription
On march , I will turn 22 years old ..can I start tretinon 0.025% cream ??
Yes it’s reasonable to start then
I could never use tret on my neck!
I have Blue Shield HMO, over 18yrs old, no acne - and Tretinoin is covered by my insurance.
You’re lucky 👍👍
Can I use oil with tretinoin
Yes
I thought you have to wait twenty mins after tret before moisturizer?
No just a minute or two for it to absorb
Can it finish hyperpigmentation black spots on face
Yes can help clear hyperpigmentation and dark spots
@doctor-abby I just used 5 times in 10 days when will it start result but nowadays my face looks dark and red then before using tretinon
What strength?
Usually start 0.025%_0.05% to start but can do 0.1% if suggested by doctor for acne
I actually liked it into my snail muson last night. Helps spread it too.
