I was put on antibiotics for a uti for 10 days. 3 days in i started having the worst diarriah ever and a fever with chills. I never thought it had anything to do with the antibiotics. I thought I just had a stomach flu. I continued taking them everyday and went six days straight with diarriah that I was noticing to be mucousy. That day I went to the urgent care against friends and family advice. I just knew something was wrong, I've had the stomach flu many times but never like this. Sure enough I was told to get off the antibiotics and had my stool tested which came back positive for c.difficil. I was so scared everyone was telling me how serious it was and I was put on another strong course of antibiotics for a week and going from doctor to doctor. No one knew what to tell me really because I guess I was a very young case. I'm only 25 and for the most part have always been healthy. After my first round of antibiotics for the c.diff ended 3 days later it came back. I was then put on another higher course for 2 weeks. this is when I started to research how I could keep this from coming back because it's very hard to get rid of. Now since stopping that last course I've been taking probiotics and drinking kefir everyday for 6 months straight and have not had symptoms of the c.diff coming back. I had NEVER had complications from antibiotics before but they destroyed my health. I lost 10 pounds not being able eat at all and I now am beginning to feel normal after sixth months. I do still have irritation sometimes. it's so upsetting to me, I never had stomach problems before this happened. I hope no one goes through this. C.
diff is the sickest I've ever been. Please please only get on antibiotics if you absolutely have to and if so take the correct precautions. As for me now I'm terrified of getting on them again and have gone into a much more holistic way of healing my body rather than running to the urgent care when I feel a problem.

As a mrsa sufferer I’m pissed. It’s not just the antibiotics that they over prescribe to us: that’s the least the real issue is the overusing of antibiotics for meat to fatten them up. Which is also why we get fat. It’s destroying the animals health and creating resistance. Which we get blamed with. Now to take care of mrsa I need four antibiotics. 15 years ago I had it in the eye and it was just 2. Skin 4. Because the impetigo and cellulitis were swelling me up and there was no alternative or I could get that to go in and hit the bones or organs. It’s really sad how we will be killing ourselves over this

I could be wrong but it sounds like the Antibiotics have destroyed your gut bacteria known as probiotics, you replace them and to feel better again is to eat food with Prebiotics and food with probiotics/good bacteria in them such as yoghurt and kefir or take a probiotic supplement and you'll see that you will feel better and hopefully go back to normal, may God and Jesus bless you.

The doxycycline is a brutal antibiotic. I was on a 10 day course of antibiotic and it was the longest 10 days of my life it destroyed my gut and this was back in April and here it is July still dealing with gut issues I never had to take antibiotics in my life so I didn’t know anything about antibiotics and how you should take a probiotic with it so basically I just let it reek havoc on my gut lost my appetite. The only time that I would actually even get hungry in the evenings at dinner time and even then I would still try to struggle to eat. I was super tired it was brutal.

Excellent explanation thank you!! Going to get some pre and probiotics today.
When my daughter was 3 months old a doc prescribed antibiotics for her, not once but twice. The second round of penicillin antibiotics developed into hives. Some 12 yrs ago she became extremely ill. Even the Canadian version of the CDC had no idea what her illness was. Yes, she self diagnosed herself. Very smart young woman who wanted to be a neurologist when she grew up. Today she's now 40 yrs old and she has Behcet's Syndrome. Not just the least of the 4 variations but the most severe namely Neuro-Behcet's which is an autoimmune disease. I'd sure take some advise on what to do about this if you have some to give. And yes, she lives with me her mom cuz she is unable to care for herself in many areas. Also when she was 9 she developed Scarlet Fever.
I have a lot of time to think. Thanks for this article, it answered many of my suspicions.

My husband and I took our 5 month old son to the ER because he had suddenly developed a super swollen lymph node on the left side of his neck and were worried. He got blood work that said he has a bacterial infection and was proscribed amoxicillin and azithromycin.
I feel intuitively that giving him these antibiotics isn’t necessary because my breast milk is producing antibodies for him naturally to help him heal. He is bottle fed but I’ve been applying a little bit of his saliva on my nipples and in my mouth so that my body can make the milk he needs in order to recover, but I also can’t help but worry that maybe I’m making the wrong choice and my milk isn’t healing him because I already gave him a small amount of each of the antibiotics out of fear so now I’m worried the damage is done and I need to follow through with the rest of the antibiotics.
What is your opinion on this matter? I need clarity on weather or not to continue the antibiotics or to just let him rely on my milk.

I believe that even though the antibiotics did mess with his natural gut micro biome my breast milk was able to quickly rebuild it and his immunity. He’s been happy and healthy since being treated.

This process has been found to be more effective than a probiotic because if you get the stool from a healthy donor, you get more diversity than you would in a probiotic!

@jamesnguyen7069 he's not completely wrong tho. It's not really necessary to wash your face, especially not every day. When you do, you are disrupting the balance of good and bad bacteria that lives on your skin, and also your own skins sebum production. I saw a similar story of a girl whose acne went away when she stopped washing her face. She only moisturized with jojoba or castor oil.

I searched out this video because I have an antibiotic dilemma. I have a lung infection (have had it quite some time). The infectious disease specialist prescribed TWO antibiotics that I am expected to take DAILY for at least a YEAR! I'm 73 and am already prone to many of the side effects the antibiotic info sheets warn about. I've done a lot of research. To me, the course of treatment he's advocating sounds far more threatening than my infection, and alarms are going off from my proverbial "gut". I haven't even opened the bottles and don't want to. How am I to know what is the best thing to do (that is, which option, taking the antibiotics or living with the infection, would diminish my quality of life--or shorten it--faster). There is no guarantee the antibiotics will even clear up the infection, and it COULD cause me to develop other infections, not to mention all the other potential threats. HELP!

Lung infections are mostly caused my excess mucus in the lungs. So you need to clean out the mucus in order to heal! Fasting will help to clear out the mucus! But you have to look at what you are eating as you can fast, only to add more mucus into the body with the next meal.. foods that cause mucus are bread, white pasta, rice, cheese, milk to name a few! If you really want to heal your lungs the best thing to do would to practice intermittent fasting, drink green juice, go to a steam room, have hot baths, avoid mucus forming foods for a while, drink lots of warm water, add lemon sometimes… eat salads, leafy greens, these kind of things! I don’t believe antibiotics are the solution, I believe they will create a whole host of new problems! All the best 🙏🥒✨

I was told that it was probably saids that caused my colitis. Now I think it may have been antibiotics in conjunction with saids. I am still on lialda.

I'd get a 2nd opinion; full panels of allergy testing. Organic colostrum is fantastic for immune issues.

I don't know why but the word was misspelled twice. I meant to say, nsaids not saids.
