    Thanks Dr. B. for convincing this nearly 60 year old to have his 1st colonoscopy. I had multiple polyps removed - a few were pretty advanced. No cancer. Despite my stuborn procrastination, you may have helped me avoid cancer, and I'm grateful.

      I'm glad you took this step- good for you! I'm similar- I just [finally] did a cologuard..largely because of Dr. B, and was fully expecting a negative result but surprise! It came back positive- I'm totally shocked. I'm nearly vegan for 5 years; vegetarian for 15; I'm totally blown away with this. Next step- colonoscopy. But I did eat like crap for most of my life so....

    To Dr B: Why not offer a stool test before a colonoscopy? This can show true dysbiosis, malnutrition, parasites, bacterial infections etc. isn’t this a better alternative medical approach before doing a colonoscopy?

    • @itsmebedazzle

      No. Stool test cannot detect polyps. Also, i had H Pylori but had 2 negative stool test until I had an EGD.

    I am On a high fiber diet all the time. I had to get some dental work done, and they gave me antibiotics. Before it used to mess with my stool and it was not a normal 3-4 on the Bristol scale. I upped my fiber and resistant starch, and now I don’t have the issue even with the antibiotics. I still have to take them for another week. So they’re correct , if you work on getting yourself prepared and maintaining a high fiber during that course, you won’t have an issue or at least as much.💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

    I had appendicitis in 2020 and insisted on antibiotics instead of an appendectomy. The antibiotics worked great but my doctor told me to eat yogurt and pickles to reintroduce good bugs. I laughed at her and asked if she could recommend nondairy or low sodium options. She couldn’t and was curious about why I might want avoid dairy and salt. I told her to check out Dr Greger’s research and to try natto (preferably the NYrture brand) over BROL (barely, rye, oats, and lentils) with ground black seed (nigella sativa). Hopefully she learns before recommending terrible food again…

    I recently had a growth taken off my upper back, and as a precaution, they gave me antibiotics. I took them, and did no more than ate my regular whole plants diet. I can't remember having any problem, or no more than I usually do. I take charcoal for gas, and enzymes for digestion. That might have helped, but I don't take prebiotics or eat yogurt etc. I get a reaction, so stick with the healthiest of the wpd. Love Will B. Thanks for having him on.

    I was put on antibiotics after having a baby. They didn't really explain why, and gave me the prescription on the way out the door. I was hesitant to take it. I was eating the healthiest I have ever ate during the pregnancy and continued after the baby was born so I guess I should be glad I did that. I didn't notice any side effects. I do wish that I could have asked a doctor if I actually needed it though. I would have preferred to just eat super clean instead of taking them.

    Always a great channel. Love both these guys. I was pretty healthy, competitive tennis player pre-covid, than got covid bad, and since trying to recover gut health. Doc gave me antibiotics for what thought was viral infection, and I stupidly took it. Ended up getting Cdiff. Went to gastro, etc. and they are not too much into functional medicine on restoring the gut, so that is why videos like this are helpful. Not sure how one goes about getting fecal transplants, etc. from what they talk about in the video. If anyone knows how that works, as I am in Arizona and would love to meet with a good doc, or just find out more information. Hope everyone keeps themselves healthy, and keeps just educating yourself on your health, and listening to the great Dr. Bulsiewicz. He needs to open a clinic here in Arizona :) We will welcome him :)

    I had an undiagnosed atypical sinus infection for 9 days before I started an antibiotic. That led to a UTI and a different antibiotic which, after culturing, led to takibg a different antibiotic. I have been eating a whole food plant based diet since 12/2020 and i know I have been eating high fiber. However, I also know my gut microbiome needs to be reinforced when this round is finished. Antibiotics treated the bacteria of the infections but there is a health cost.

      Don't make excessive food available for any meal. Prepare only what you intend to (or should) eat. If you expect a desert, take only 1 cookie, or only 1 scoop of ice cream, or a small slice of pie or cake. Don't take the entire box of cookies or bag of chips to the TV. Set limits before you have to face them. Stop being a slave to your desires. If your conscious mind is telling you to eat more, your conscious mind can just as easily tell you NOT eat more. Desires are temporary, but reason is continual. Allow your rational mind to control your life.

    Thanks for this particular topic. We've been working on making our gut biome the best it can be for several years now with whole plants. BUT recently my husband had to take an antibiotic. We are thankful for the medical option and it worked!! We were wondering what to do to get his gut biome back to full speed. It's interesting that taking a probiotic slows recovery down. Hm.... The more I read and listen on the topic of happy gut biome it seems plants, plants, plants, and more plants are the answer. Period. LOL!

    Honest question here. Can we actually get any or all of the obligate anaerobic bacterial species after a heavy dose of antibiotics? There are studies out there that indicate that babies can obtain some obligate anaerobic species like Oxalobacter after birth, but is this due to the fact that the acid in their stomachs has not developed enough to eliminate bacteria entering through the digestive tract? Since I took 13 months of antibiotics foolishly for Lyme Disease years ago, really wish there was more science about this question.

    My stupid question for dr B. If a person take a piece of poop from his or her child and literally put it their colon (you know, inserting it there with your hands 😂), can it be useful and helpful? Im afraid it's quite a simple and cheap home fecal transplant option. What does Dr B think?

    • @anthonycastlevlog
      @anthonycastlevlog 10 місяців тому +2

      Buy a cheap blender, a strainer and a rectal enema syringe. Take the poop and blend it in a cup of filtered water. Run it through the strainer. Fill up the syringe and empty it out in your colon. Best done at night so you can sleep while the probiotics in the poop get absorbed. It’s magic. Good luck

    Dr. Will Bulsiewics is not the best "expert" to receive advice re gut health, his approach is "vegan zealot" as opposed diet agnostic which is unhelpful when one is looking for unbiased information. He also mis-represents yoga and meditation as if these have a significant contribution to gut health (as opposed general wellbeing) whereas yogic lifestyle choices such as food spices and associated supplements like ashwaganda do meaningfully contribute to gut health. Dr. Will Bulsiewics seems to peddle bs - I have taken a course of his, read his books and am a practicing yogi for 20 years, I highly recommend that you read widely and follow common sense principles of whole foods and do not follow Dr. Will Bulsiewics advice uncritically. Veganism is one of the most profound elimination diets but he is so obtuse that he rallies against other elimination diets such as people avoiding lectins (beans amongst other) for meaningful reasons yet he advocates beans without differentiation. There are many other issues with what he says and does, he is a classic snake oil salesman. Check out other "experts" and be your best.
