Scroll saw: Excalibur if you can afford it, DeWalt if not. Clear coat on the copper or ver de gris later? Thank you for keeping with this channel. Peace.
I love how the copper and black really compliment each other and the barn wood background really adds another dimension to your finally result. Awesome build. 🤘
This really something to be proud of son. I can’t think of a thing you could have done any better. I love the contrast of the colors and the copper/wood combination. Great job son!
Logo is great, I like it. Maybe a sheet of aluminum on the blade of the drawknife with "hand made" written in black could add a classy detail. I would make a test with a tin foil to see the effect, because adding a third color to the logo could end in a design too colored for the eyes, but it also could add emphasys and importance to the writing "hand made" and recall the steel of the tools, focusing a potential customer on that detail (hand made).
Hand Crafted the old school way, thats what I'm talking about. It dont take much skill to push a button and let a computer do it all. I love old style signage. Great Job Buddy, I think I will try one for myself. Thanks for the video.
You made it such a simple thing to add copper to the piece. You just layered it in to what you were already cutting out of plywood. That was a super effective way to make an epic sign instead of an amazing sign. Good job & great content dude thanks
Holy crap dude. Your stuff is next level. You videos are by far my most looked forward to projects right now. This sign inspired me to contact a local artist to get my own branding done.
Scroll saw alternative to coping/fret saw. Use mine more than I thought I would, picked it up at an auction. Definitely going to hit up W70 and see what he can do. Enjoy the work you do, keep it rolling! And I love my third coast t-shirt...
I like it. I appreciate the patience it took to make it all come together. Great to see a prosperous Michigan woodworker showing his stuff. Nice. Congratulations. The best part is, YOU like it!
Turned out awesome. You nailed it with the copper look. For some reason copper has that vintage timeless look and works well with wood. Keep the videos going and make sure you put the wired German in your videos. I have a English bulldog in my that never leaves the shop. Great job!!!
I’ve seen Jimmy Diresta do this 50 times, unoriginal, UNSUBSCRIBE! Kidding of course, came out great! Love the copper and barn wood combo. I’m actually wearing your shirt as I write this. Great tip on the coping saw blade orientation, and that parallax slider shot of you filing was awesome.
well for one Jimmy has done everything 50 times, and two im trying to ride his curtails hahaha. I actually would have never thought to make signs if it wasnt for his videos. I bet you are excited to try your slider out too :)
Third Coast Craftsman I am excited! Especially seeing the results you’ve been getting with it. So totally original idea here, you should make some “Utz paws” and use those in your project to make stuff.
Love the idea of using copper sheet metal. Way easier than other videos I’ve seen on sign making that have you melting the copper and then trying to cast molten copper in a sand mold.
Wow, simply awesome. I had avoided watching this video because I assumed it would just be watching you punch a logo into a CNC router! I am glad I did watch it, simply amazing!
Looks really good! Great contrast and I'm a sucker for old-timey signs with fourishes. What I've done that I find works really well is laying down a layer of painter's tape first, then applying spray adhesive to the painter's tape, then applying my template on top. Once everything is cut out, you can just peel the painter's tape off and not have to worry about the spray adhesive.
I am over the top impressed with how this sign came out. Mixed materials, 3D and of course the logo is fantastic. When we talked about this, I couldn't have envisioned just how nice it would look when complete. Great Job Chris. Look forward to the next time we can hang out.
Thanks Chad. I had a hard time envisioning it as well and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Yea im definitely looking forward to next time we can hang out too!
Just came across your channel a week ago your projects are great. I am a furniture maker and also do Tshirt printing/mugs/signs and print on wood, I regularly use my vinyl cutter to make stencils, inexpensive and it saves you a hell of a lot of work, I even make wooden signs using vinyl for the lettering and spray them with lacquer and they really look great :)
Looks like something I would have done back when I started in the sign business back in 1989. Regardless takes a lot of time, patience and skill with your hands. Good Job!
Looks great. Perhaps some small highly polished steel as highlights on the copper lettering would give it that final bit of contrast between the similar values of the copper and the barn wood colors to the eye.
Congratulations! Excelent!! Your work is pure art. I am 59 old and my granpa was woodworker in Brazil, and a hero to me, too. God bless you and your work!
Amazing job. Please post a follow up after that copper starts to patina and really gives the sign that old school, vintage look you are looking for. Thank you for sharing.
Great job! If you don't have a j-roller you can lay a block of wood on it and hit it with a hammer. I learned that working in a cabinet shop doing Formica (plastic laminate). That was back when people actually still wanted Formica. Obviously, be careful around the edges and select a piece of wood that is smooth.
I was watching some of your other videos and kept trying to see the sign in the background. Glad I found the video on it great work totally impressed. Thanks for thinking out the box with that copper
Wow wow wow 😱😱😱 Sutch an amasing peace of art !!!! You can’t do better than this you have your perfict sign i would’t change a thing , it’s timeless . Continue the great work 😎👍🏼🇨🇦
So much work! All that detail filing and sanding would have been the death of me. Great video and I much appreciate your mentioning W70. I've since reached out to him to see about some help with my own gear! Keep up the great work!
Love the idea. The way you cut on the bandsaw was creative and opened my mind. If I was you I would have used a flush cut router bit to trim barn boards after glued to plywood. Might have just cut copper on band saw and done the same w plywood. Great project and love the look!!
BEAUTIFUL SIGN! If you want to add some cool shadowing, using a torch to roast the wood below the lettering is a very cool effect I use and add a unique charm to it. Well done 👍
I'm a designer and can design amazing digital visuals, but sometimes, none of that compares to wood and metal like this. This came out absolutely beautiful. I'm looking for a metal sign for my company and considered looking up some DIY's, but I'm no handy man. My hands bleed just watching this video. Great work, man! Wish I had your skills to do one myself.
This is the 2nd video in a row, I like this one better than the last one, the Hunting Club was good one too but the copper lettering is really cool looking. I like your logo too
Sign looks great! Thanks for the Excel print tip! I knew that you could blow stuff up in virtual space like that but never thought about hitting the print button.........
Scroll saw: Excalibur if you can afford it, DeWalt if not. Clear coat on the copper or ver de gris later? Thank you for keeping with this channel. Peace.
Thanks for the scroll saw tips. I have definitely been wondering if a scroll saw would have made this easier. Ive never used one.
I am still trying to figure out how anyone gives any of your projects a thumbs down. You are a wonderful craftsman and a pleasure to watch.
haha. Thanks conrite. no matter what there will always be people who want to negative
Really digging the combination of black, copper, and the barn wood. Nice work!
Thanks bud, I love how it turned out too
I love how the copper and black really compliment each other and the barn wood background really adds another dimension to your finally result. Awesome build. 🤘
I really like the idea of raising the copper sheet letters using the ply, great idea I'm totally going to copy :)
Yea it really turned out cool!
Great to see a bit of old school hand made technic, pc’s and CNC machines have speeded things up but taken all the skill and fun out of the job.
so true
This looks AMAZING! You should mount it to the front of your car.
Thats a great idea
Can we get an update video on what it looks like mounted to the front of the car?
A lot of work. A lot of time. But when its a labor of love, you will put in the elbow. Bravo. Left coast.
That is just flipppin gorgeous man. Love mixing materials like that. The copper really pulls it all together. Exceptionally well done!!!
Thanks so much. I definitely appreciate that!
It really ties the room together, man.
What a great logo. Don’t ever change a thing.
Thanks Man!
This really something to be proud of son. I can’t think of a thing you could have done any better. I love the contrast of the colors and the copper/wood combination. Great job son!
Thanks so much Becky!
Beautiful labor of love project! When the copper ages, it’s going to pop in a completely different way!
Thanks Elaine. I did protect the copper because I like the brightness of it and dont want it to change haha
Third Coast Craftsman ;) I like shiny copper as well
WOW!!! You couldn't have done it any better Chris, You Nailed It !!!!👍👍
Thanks man. I dont think I would change a thing
🔨
Holy moly. Absolutely astonishing... ❤️ making things out of copper and the look of this is just phenomenal

You are a wizard on that bandsaw! Great logo and project!
haha I dont know about that, just slow and steady. thanks :)
Absolutely love the design, with copper. Anxious to see the copper once the patina sets in. Great vids, love the dog.
Excellent job. The logo really pops and looks very vintage.
Thank you. I love the results
The copper worked PERFECT!
Dude such a sick build ! Well done
Thanks brother! I can picture your logo looking AMAZING with these colors too.
You made it such a simple thing to add copper to the piece. You just layered it in to what you were already cutting out of plywood. That was a super effective way to make an epic sign instead of an amazing sign. Good job & great content dude thanks
Excellent job. The contrasting colors and materials work perfect together.
Definitely! Thank you
Always a sucker for copper, it turned out great. I think it is the perfect copper to wood to black ratio. I love the design of the logo too.
Yea Im glad I didnt use any more or less copper either. Definitely a good ratio
Holy crap dude. Your stuff is next level. You videos are by far my most looked forward to projects right now. This sign inspired me to contact a local artist to get my own branding done.
Thanks so much Jacob, I really appreciate that man!
I have almost used up my bottle of quick and thick. It's become my go to glue for small projects.
Im totally digging that glue!
Scroll saw alternative to coping/fret saw. Use mine more than I thought I would, picked it up at an auction. Definitely going to hit up W70 and see what he can do. Enjoy the work you do, keep it rolling! And I love my third coast t-shirt...
yes I definitely thought a scroll saw would be nice
I like it. I appreciate the patience it took to make it all come together. Great to see a prosperous Michigan woodworker showing his stuff. Nice. Congratulations. The best part is, YOU like it!
Man that looked tedious! Turned out great! I think the logo matches your brand and channel.
tedious indeed, but well worth the work! I think its a good match too!
Turned out awesome. You nailed it with the copper look. For some reason copper has that vintage timeless look and works well with wood. Keep the videos going and make sure you put the wired German in your videos. I have a English bulldog in my that never leaves the shop. Great job!!!
Thanks for the comment I appreciate that and yes I gotta agree copper is timeless :)
I’ve seen Jimmy Diresta do this 50 times, unoriginal, UNSUBSCRIBE!

YouCanMakeThisToo Hahahahahahaha!
well for one Jimmy has done everything 50 times, and two im trying to ride his curtails hahaha. I actually would have never thought to make signs if it wasnt for his videos.

Third Coast Craftsman I am excited! Especially seeing the results you’ve been getting with it.
So totally original idea here, you should make some “Utz paws” and use those in your project to make stuff.
I thought of Jimmy's sign as well.
I think you mean "trying to ride his coattails." Curtail means something else. Nice channel, keep up the good work.
Beautiful sign. Since you asked, I think adding an engine turn finish to the copper lettering would be striking.
I love how that turned out! I am living vicariously through you! This makes me wish I would have taken wood shop back in high school instead of band.
Love the idea of using copper sheet metal. Way easier than other videos I’ve seen on sign making that have you melting the copper and then trying to cast molten copper in a sand mold.
Oh wow, that sounds wayyyyy more complicated haha
Looks Great!
Very cool!! The copper, old wood and black accents give it a truly vintage look. You should be very proud of tour sign.
So sweet! Utz might need one for his dog house!
I should make Utz a sign haha
Wow, simply awesome. I had avoided watching this video because I assumed it would just be watching you punch a logo into a CNC router! I am glad I did watch it, simply amazing!
Looks great! The copper colour and difference in texture really works well with the rest of the sign.
Thanks. I couldnt agree more. great combo!
That is excellent and I wouldn't change any of your design!
Thanks Tom!
The copper was definitely the way to go! Looks awesome!
Thanks Phil!
Looks really good! Great contrast and I'm a sucker for old-timey signs with fourishes.

great tip! Ill try that next time thanks
That sign is AWESOME!!!!!
Thank you. much appreciated!

Thanks Chad. I had a hard time envisioning it as well and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Yea im definitely looking forward to next time we can hang out too!
sign looks amazing. copper is my favorite metal, love it brushed, polished, or with an aged patina.
yea the cool thing about it is all the colors it can be haha
Just came across your channel a week ago your projects are great. Awesome love the copper and reclaimed boards
Thanks Ian!
Utz is a gorgeous dog! I bet he's a great friend. Thanks for sharing with us.
he's definitely a great friend
Awesome job..
The logo is a home run and the sign turned out beautiful, really beautiful.
Yes love the way the sign turned out quite the skill you have. The dog is awesome my wife wanted to add
One of a kind sign. Thanks for sharing your work
Looks like something I would have done back when I started in the sign business back in 1989.
Regardless takes a lot of time, patience and skill with your hands. Good Job!
Class A stuff right there. W70 is the stuff to. Great job!!!
yea he has skills!
I like both the sign and logo. Big fan of copper and barn wood. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Luke, much appreciated man!
Very, very AWESOME. Great call on using the copper. 👏👏👏
Nothing wrong with this at all. Nicely done.
Sweet sign, rustic, old feeling.
definitely what I was going for :)
Wow!! That looks fantastic! Very sharp.
Thanks Keith
I think you said it exactly right it is Flippin awesome!!! I love it
Looks great. I was skeptical about the copper against barnwood but it added a nice accent.
Thanks!
That sign look amazing! It's a perfect compliment to your style of workmanship.
Thanks Rob I really appreciate that
I want to make something like this for the family cottage. I think it would look awesome as the copper weathers and turns green from the elements.
Looks great. Perhaps some small highly polished steel as highlights on the copper lettering would give it that final bit of contrast between the similar values of the copper and the barn wood colors to the eye.
Yeah, and a protective final coat to keep everything just how you want it.
Great job! You made the right choice with the copper!
OMG you are the man
been doing signs for 30 years!!
That sign is stupid gorgeous
Oh its so shiny! The copper turned out nice, but I really like the fact you did something I hadn't seen before. Taking risks is awesome.
Thanks Nate. I gotta agree taking risks is awesome. if you fail, you learned something. If you dont fail you are rewarded! Win win really
Started to watch your videos and you do Awsome work.
It’s really gonna look nice when the copper ages that blue green look! Great work!
Beautiful!!!
Very nicely done!! love the copper and black!
Thanks Greg. I love it too!
Congratulations! Excelent!! Your work is pure art.
I am 59 old and my granpa was woodworker in Brazil, and a hero to me, too.
God bless you and your work!

Without a doubt the coolest sign I've ever seen! You knocked it out of the park.
Thanks Ted. I love it!
Continue the great work 😎👍🏼🇨🇦
Thank you. Its going to look great hangin in the shop for years to come :)
So much work! All that detail filing and sanding would have been the death of me. Great video and I much appreciate your mentioning W70. I've since reached out to him to see about some help with my own gear!
Keep up the great work!
It sounded like a good idea, and looks even better.
I love it when it works out that way!
Well done 👍
Nice work. Love the wirehaired pointer too
Thanks Lance
I see those beautiful mallets hanging in the background! Awesome sign too. I love the use of precious metals intigrated with the wood. Nice work!
Thanks Alan. Yea I keep them proudly displayed but I also use them now. I added some leather to the face.
That’s awesome. The copper and black really look good against the barnwood.
Thanks. I love that comboi
Beautiful Sign!! I love the different contrasts of color, copper, and aged barn wood. Nice bandsaw work too!!
Thank you. Those materials definitely looked good together
Spot on material choices.
The copper is nice.....Your logo is cool too.
This is why I like my laser. Just design and push start and everything is cut perfectly
This is the 2nd video in a row, I like this one better than the last one, the Hunting Club was good one too but the copper lettering is really cool looking. I like your logo too
Looks great love the two tone color and i love copper
Utz! Great, great, great sign and work! Keep at it!
haha. thanks buddy!
That looks just gorgeous!
Thanks Rami!
Man that was a lot of work. Amazing result. I'm sure someone has suggested by now that you need a Scroll Saw for that inside cutting.
Awesome combination of materials and techniques. Love the vintage look with the bar wood and copper,
Wow that is nice. I didn't know what it would turn out like but I love it.
Thanks Darin. I had the same thoughts at first haha
Awesome looking Logo sign, great job!!!
Thanks Dale
Sign looks great! Thanks for the Excel print tip! I knew that you could blow stuff up in virtual space like that but never thought about hitting the print button.........
Ridiculously AWESOME!!
