Old dude in Canada... I love this... I can go to print store and get larger formats printed out for sign making... so simple so beautiful... thanks friend...
Glad you enjoyed it. Watch my other sign video for an even better way to do the transfers.
If you would like a shiny finish on your signs, grab some high gloss clear spray paint. Another benefit is no brush marks! I really enjoyed your video!!
Lots of great resin products would work too. Other than the brush strokes, I think these are very cool.
thanks so much
My first thought on your brushstroke issue was some kind of spray on finish and then I thought about a thin coat of acrylic resin. Guess I’m late to the party… I enjoyed your video very much. Especially your weather report. My first thought was, wow, that sounds like our Osage County, NE OK weather. Late again… As I’ve said many, many times, I may be slow, but I catch up. 🤦♀️ Looking forward to more of your videos.
Ever think about rolling the Mod Podge? No brush strokes - i painted years ago - they make not sure what they are called but like a 3 inch roller with little to no knap, Anyway you inspired me - have an idea. Thank you sir!
Been sign painter installer for over 30 years what you did today is a lot easier than some of the things I recreated you're a great guy to have on UA-cam even an Old Timer 70 years old like me and learn a lot from you have a blessed day
Thank you, sir. This method is designed more for the weekend warrior. Painting signs the way you have is a true art, and I respect that tremendously
This is SOOOOO cool!!! I think my hubby would really get into this as our garage has a ton of signs too!!! OMG THANKS so much for sharing this 😀!!! LOVE IT!!
One of the most enjoyable, down to earth, and educational videos I've seen in a long time.
I really, really appreciate people like you for posting such kind words.

Usually watching long videos I lose can lose interest after ten or fifteen minutes, I can't recall ever watching one without having to try and skip ahead but not this time! I found your video very interesting, entertaining and educational and watched it all! I like the old ads and signs and always wanted some to hang in the workshop and garage and now I'll be able to make my own, thanks to you! Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this! Great video Now for a trip to Lowes.
You are quite welcome, and let me know how they turn out.
I meant to add… I think it's really sweet that you thought of your wife and grandkids that "nobody would get hurt!" Great softening of those edges!
I appreciate the fact that you made what you wanted to make! I have plans for some myself. No cookie cutters! Thanks!
Hello I just watched the vid. Thank you so much for it. I keep saying to my boys we need some or they need some wall paper, that’s what I call these signs!😂😂😂. Cheers from Ontario 🇨🇦. Hoping to spark a flame in my boys.
thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
This is really interesting material. I appreciate the effort you put into providing it. Many thanks!

Absolutely loved this! Gotta try it!
Glad to help
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & wisdom. Great job !!!!!!
Oh my, this brings back memories from long past. I taught elementary Industrial Arts back in the early 1970's and we modge podged pictures with the kids. Used a wood backing, routered the edges and it was a very popular activity. Thanks for the video.
You are quite welcome, and thanks for watching
This was brilliant. Thank you for the I am going to make my hubby a Harley sign.
Awesome. He will love it.
I am working on a corrugated tin garden sign, for my best friend.
I have watched too many videos that did not help at all however yours was the first one that made sense and helped with the step-by-step process.
I’m going to look for my picture and start a folder otherwise I’m good to go :thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!
you are so welcome. Don't forget to sub, 😂
I love your sense of humor and your observations of what's going on in the world are right on point! 🎯💯👍🏾❤

These are awesome! Thank you for sharing!
I love signs... But not the average run of the mill sign. So thank you so much for showing me how to do my own personal & unique signs!
You are very welcome, and I'll have some more videos dedicated to signs in the near future.
Dear sir, I just wanted to say what a great talent you have and applied to make your own vintage signs. Thinking out of the box is great! Sharing it helps others feel that they can do it or have. There is no age limit! It was wonderful that you shared the love of your life and how much talent she has. You have been blessed and I see it in your face and the with the words you used to speak of her that she is the love of your life. I too have been blessed every day with a whom my soul loves for 50 years and still she is my greatest friend. She too has been given much talent and I too truly appreciate her. Thank you for all that you shared and may our Lord Jesus bless you and your family. A friend, Mike
Thank you. My wife and I are both Preacher's kids, so I appreciate the blessings and prayers.
Love the video and the laughs along the line, keep it country every time. Many thanks for the information it was all very cool.
thanks so much for the kind words, and I'll keep it country for ya.
UA-cam recommended your channel through the algorithm and I have literally binge watched your videos! Your voice is so soothing and this is such a creative process from start to finish. My husband loves vintage signs and watching those picker shows so finding an artistic way to create your own simply amazing! Thank you for sharing and for this bit of serenity that came my way this morning! Blessings! Subbed ✨
OMG, you are the sweetest person! Thanks for the kind words, it means so much.

Although I didn't catch this video until much later, I did enjoy learning how to make these signs from old (or new) advertising. I've got a few advertisements from old magazines already and now I know what to do with them. It makes me want to look for some more.
It did get me to thinking that shrinking these down to doll house or model trian size would be easily accomplished.
Plus, I live in a city located on old Route 66 that has a rich history of such signs painted on nearly everything from brick walls, to barn roofs, to a historic water tower shaped like a catsup bottle. People would love to see reproductions of those on display in regular size as well as in miniature.
Thanks for sharing this craft with us!
You are quite welcome. I'm a big fan of Route 66 and it's history as well. I live east of Tulsa, OK., and the history is prevalent here.
Super cool signs and beautiful piece of property. Thanks for sharing!.....I mod podge inside of my kitchen cabinets with old newspaper advertisements after I painted them.
Thanks for the kind words, and I bet the cabinets look cool with the newspaper ads inside.
I love your technique of abrading off the part of the image you didn't want on the Coke sign - very cool!
thank you
Your right down my alley!
Such a simple process but effective. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for tuning in
Great idea! They look vintage for sure.
Hey, thanks for watching. I'll have another video dedicated to signs again soon.
Enjoyed your video. Thanks
Thank you. Great idea.
I love all your signs they all came out so great!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope you'll continue to watch.
I really enjoy watching you and doing it myself!!
Thanks for watching. Hope you sub and watch the other videos as well.
Those signs are really cool. Now I need to give it a try !!!
Yep, it's a lot of fun. Hope you try it
Love it!
Loved it, thanks.
Creative out of the box thinking 🤔 I like it !!!
Thanks, you gotta be brave enough to try weird stuff, and sometimes it works. I'll even show the times when it doesn't, lol.
Loved it......love listening to you! Subscribed looking forward to learning new things! :🌹
Very nice sir. I love these very much. never crossed my mind I could do it for my self just never knew how now I know thank you love your collection...
Omg! I love this.
Thank you
You are quite welcome
Love it… I’m a collector of vintage fishing gear and tackle… I think I will try to do some tackle company signs like that and see how it turns out.. thanks for the video
You are quite welcome
Thank you sir for a fantastic video! Once I get my new shop made, this will be one of the first things I make to spruce it up. :)
Give it a try, it's fun, cheap, and you can surround yourself with the signage that makes you happy.
That is an awesome tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to post this. You gave me some great ideas.
You are quite welcome. Thanks for giving it a watch
Great job!
Great ideas and you have all that space on the shed ceiling for lots of your signs
Never considered using the ceiling, but I accept that challenge, lol. I'll mention you if I show any ceiling signs on a future video.
that is awesome!! love signs. I have found my new project!
let me know how it goes. You can email me at : okladoma@outlook.com
Very cool!
Cool projects! Tip for making paper goods look aged - coffee or strong brewed tea works good. I understand you didn't know there was different sheens in the mod podge. Typically old signs have no sheen unless they're the old porcelain signs. I like the idea to use sheet metal. But I think I'll try contact cement for sticking the signs down - I have an extra can I have to use up any ways.
Thanks for the informative step by step!
thanks for the info, and for tuning in
Loved the video and tutorial. What a cool idea. Keep them coming.
Thanks so much!
I stumbled across this video and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Great content and delivery. Subscribed and looking forward to more. Thank you.
Wow, that means a lot to me. Thanks for the Kudos, but more importantly, thanks for watching and I've definitely got more coming.
Great job. They came out awesome 👍
thanks for watching
You're a HOOT! I love your setup there. I watched the whole video and I feel like we're neighbors. The coke sign on the screen door really works 👍🤠
Thank you, and keep watching.
This is awesome, talented and funny guy, great sense of humour, what’s not to love? 👌
Thanks for the kind words.
Loved this
thanks for tuning in
Love these!!!
they are super fun to make!
I sure liked you sharing how to make those signs out of all kinds of materials. I especially like your comments at the end about sharing all you know with others. I have a special saying I'm known for that means just that. "Always leave a trail." with my name at the bottom, S. L. Griffin. I would love a sign that says that. Let me know if you can make something like that. Sandra G.
love the RCBS single stage reloading press on your bench. I have one about 50 yrs old and for the record, RCBS will replace any parts for free lifetime guarantee.
Most folks would never notice that loader. And yes I love mine too, especially because I got it gifted to me by a good friend when he upgraded. I think this one is about 30 years old, but works flawlessly. Thanks for tuning in.
I am starting my own recycled craft channel this week and I almost changed my mind until I saw your video! People like yourself are why I love youtube. Thank you for sharing your lovely work and giving me the boost of inspiration I needed.
thanks for the kind words, and good luck to you.
I’m in the same boat ! I’m in the game plan process now for starting a channel.
I appreciate these channels! So much time and effort shared with us!
Thank you for the sign tutorial ! As Tracey said, very inspiring!

@@okladoma9782 thank you!
I love your creations. I would sure like to see that 3D sign lit up. I do a lot of artwork myself and make vintage signs in photoshop, have them printed and mount them on 24 ga steel in much the same manner, but I do use a mix of gloss and semi gloss clear spray for the top finish. I have also done a lot of football, rugby and wresting signs, logos and T-shirt designs for various clubs, (all free of charge). As a died in the wool hot rodder and car builder, I have done many vintage auto signs for myself.
you should be making videos. Sounds awesome
I’m a jeepmomma and love your Jeep sign ..and my 3 sons have mustangs and your mustang sign is awesome also …great job 👍👍👍
thanks
I love it I'm going to try thank you for sharing.
you are welcome. They are super fun to make

Didn't know you could use this process on metals. So I learned something valuable, sir! I am considering doing this to the entire side of a 4-drawer file cabinet I use for garage storage, instead of trying to paint it.
And I truly appreciate the ability to make something custom-designed and unique, even if it doesn't necessarily save money. Here, you've made several signs for the price of a single one that you could buy. And that makes this a REAL successful endeavor.
I definitely will be looking for this in your videos, but if you haven't made it yet, you should do a video on that car stereo installed in the cabinet that I spied on the way into the man-cave / she-shed lobby. If that is functioning, I think that's a pretty cool idea (I started a similar boombox and I have yet to finish it).
that's a great idea, and if I do a video on that, I will give you the credit for it. That's just the kind of feedback I need.
Interesting and cool!
You sir were born a charming entertainer. I’ve enjoyed listening to you all the way in Australia.
Awww, thank you so much for the kind words
Great job on your signs. I like the creepy Van Camp sign, too! 😂
I know, right?
Thank you for the video I will make me some singes and I will use my airbrush for special effects on the sign
Nice vid bud. Made me try making my own! My wife loves it. Thanks again for the vid.
Oh, I used lacquer for the top coat instead of mod podge. I think it looks fine that way.
You are quite welcome. I have used lacquer as well, but the average viewer probably needs something simpler. Glad mama liked it.
thanks for making this vid, cool idea!
thanks for watching
Great video! Some of those signs really do look vintage.
Thank you, I'll be putting out more content soon
Thank you... Great video brother. Keep them comin please!
will do. Thanks for tuning in.
Keep doing what you do to be happy and pass it on. 👍😁
thanks for the kind words, and especially for watching. I really do appreciate it.
The flat mod podge will give you a more vintage look when dry. Awesome work.
Yeah, I accidentally ordered the gloss. I'll be using flat next time. Thanks for tuning in

thank you for watching. Check out my other video on signs. I have an updated method that is easier and mor affective.
Thank you for this video. I may have to try this in central Oklahoma.

I’m so excited to find this vid! Hoping to make some cool signs for my fiancé for his garage!
Check out the second sign video. It shows some updated methods that I think look even better 👍
Taught me something new
Thanks for watching
Nice work.
I have seen someone using a different technique to make old signs but one thing he did that would transfer over is, he used a small grinder and ground the edges of the rusty areas to make it jagged.
I may try that some time, thanks
Love it..."A little Coke and Vodka going on" at 39:00. Breakfast drink of champs!! THANKS for your demonstration...super insightful...you have inspired me!! I have one suggestion, use a little more of the fast forward option during the mundane things when you edit.
thanks so much for the suggestion. I have really started trimming the fat off of my videos. This one was my very first. You should check out the others, 😂(shameless plug).
That is a fabulous tutorial . The magazine page signs are a great idea. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching. Please sub and like, it helps with the crazy UA-cam algorithm. I am in the middle of filming another video on signs that will be out before the weekend, and it shows a new technique for even better transfers 👍
Great video and real nice signs!
Thanks for watching.
I’m super happy I found your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Ps. You cracked me up when showing the ouija board sign. Hilarious! Keep your good vibes streaming along!
Thanks, I have a weird sense of humor, but that's just who I am.
Great video !. It gave me a million ideas. I dig your narration also.. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub. I truly appreciate it.
It’s always best to wet your paper before placing on metal to avoid curling. Great video!
Thanks for the info. I'll try it.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for the vid! Neat stuff. Something to consider... instead of trimming the border off the paper print, just stick it down to your metal as usual then trim out with your snips all in one shot. That way you can bypass the alignment step and trimming the project twice.
Thanks for the tip. I love when viewers offer these kinds of info.
I enjoy making signs myself and to make them look like they have rust, I use craft (Matt finish) paint in a nutmeg color and also sprinkle a bit of cinnamon let it dry .Yes the spice right from the cabinet🤭. Of course it doesn't return inside..Wipe off the excess that doesn't stick to the wet paint ..
I would love to see the the great things your wife has done that you so kindly talked about in your video
Thanks for sharing your signs and conversation. From NC.
Thank you for watching
Haha I have the same humor and I have actually made signs too! I made a lot of old tractor ad signs.
Nice! On the brush you used for the mod podge, if the medium is easy to clean out of your brush, try a Nylox brush. It smooths paint better. We used them when painting steel doors and frames with Pre-catylised Epoxy paint. (We also put in an additive that helped with that. Don't know if it would work with mid podge.)
I've used the Nylox on cabinets with paint. Awesome stuff, but not sure about mixing with Mod Podge
