That's what made you bring my car back? All this time I figured whoever stole it must have freaked when they saw what was on the floor of the backseat. I always wondered why the authorities never came to see me.
I guess we should all thank the Lord. Or at least the Doobies.

@@da324 god might be invisible but he left evidence of his existence. For example if god flooded the world there would be evidence of it. If an animal dies then chances are that it would decay or become dinner for other living organisms before it slowly got covered by dirt to become fossilized and if a mature tree gets petrified in the upright position if it was slowly covered you would think that it would die and fall over before it had a chance to petrify yet these things can be found all over the world . Or there could have been a world wide flood that buried these things rapidly. If you need more scientific examples of why we live in a young world that is about 6,000 years old like the bible explains as opposed to billions of years old as evolution says then you can look up kent hovind creation seminars here on UA-cam. He has a theory as to what the earth was like before the flood and why people lived to be 900 years old, dinosaurs in bible and what happened to them and why some might still be alive , and all kinds of other interesting stuff

The fact that the word "Christian" triggers people is no surprise. It has done so for over 2,000 years. It is also fact that good acts can be done - or not done - by believer and non-believer alike. So the question that arises is, whom does your "good act" exalt? Yourself, or another?
In any event, let's encourage doing good.

Heard this early gospel song at a Doobie Brothers concert in 1974. This was the very first time that I had ever heard and it continuously rang thru my head for a week.
Toulouse Street is one of my favorites and will demonstrate a wonderful twist in the Doobie Brother repertoire.

Love how they break it down in the middle. Never heard it sung in church, but a little 10 y.o. Boy I knew, who passed from leukemia back in the early 80’s, had his mom play this song at his funeral. It had us all smiling! (You are correct, Michael McDonald was not on this track.) Gotta try “Georgy Porgy” by ToTo.

I've really been enjoying your channel. And re "Jesus Is Just Alright With Me"... it started off as a gospel song in 1966 by a black gospel group! Then the Byrds covered it. But the Doobies took it to a whole new level, adding that slow breakdown in the middle that you enjoyed so much (so do I!).
The intersection of black spirituals and gospel w/ rock and roll is well documented... of course, Led Zep covered Blind Willie Johnson's "Nobody's Fault But Mine." Rollings Stones hit the gospel vibe numerous times (!!), including "Salt of the Earth" (a prayer/praise of "hardworking people"), the classic "You Got to Move," and the astonishingly beautiful "I Just Want to See His Face." The latter begins w/ a slow, almost aimless jam, and resolves into a cry to God. O Mick, we dinna know you had it in ya!
Want something totally weird from 1967? Try a song that ended up in the movie "Easy Rider." "Gloria," by the Electric Prunes.
I can really go on this topic if more is desired...

Some German catholic churches tried some gospel and rock in the 1970's/80s , but I tell you it was not good. At least not the churches I had to go to.
It was cringe worthy for me to have to listen to it and watch it. Some German white people trying real hard to have rhythm and soul and the rest of the parish just sat there with unbelief in their eyes. I never liked being in church because I didn't understood the concept, but on these occasions I really wanted to leave.

No, Jesus is a reference to a baseball player. As in, “Jose is one of the best players ever, but Jesus just came up from the minors and bats .150 - he usually rides the bench. Jose is Hallo of Fame material, but Jesus is just alright.”

Hello Jamel, I love your reaction videos. I am a 71 year old woman from the San Francisco Bay Area. The Dobbie Brothers were a band for a good number of years before Michael McDonald joined them for a portion of their journey. The Dobbie’s got their start playing in biker bars around San Jose; Michael McDonald, who has an amazing voice, kind of smoothed them out, took away some of their rawness and edge, and pushed them more into the mainstream. This song was on an early album, “Toulouse Street” and their original lead singer, Tom Johnston, sang the lead.
