    My results are similar to yours. At first I hated the gun but I have learned that it is just particular about ammo. CCI mini-mags are now the only ammo I use in it and it is very reliable.

      I didn't try a variety to ammo. I tried the cci mini mags with a M-Carbo stronger recoil spring. It ran pretty good by one FTF and one FTE in about 80 rounds was not good to me. I put the factory spring back and it ran fine with the following 200 rounds. So it's the mini mags and factory gun setup I'll be sticking with.

    I have a Ruger LCP2 in 22LR.
    It wont shoot Aguila ammo at all, it'll jam everytime I pull the slide back.
    It doesnt like CCI stingers either..I'll get at least two misfeeds with every magazine.
    With Armorcore same thing.
    CCI minimags is a little better but not much.
    I'll get about one misfeed out of every 20 to 30 rounds.
    Then one day I tried a 50 round box of 45 grain American Eagle.
    To my surprise it fired all 50 rounds without a problem.
    Then I bought 250 more rounds of this ammo.
    Out of 250 rounds of American Eagle I only got one misfeed.

    I use 2 of the LCP2s as daily carry. I carry one in an ankle holster and the other in my right back jeans pocket. I've tested 7 different rounds and stick with 40 grain solids with over 1250 FPS loadings. Aguila Interceptors at 1,470 FPS are by far my favorite. These are great little pistols and they are so easy to shoot accurately and quickly. Practice makes perfect! A 22 is nearly impossible to beat as it is very low recoil aiding shot placement, quick follow ups as well as being cheap to practice with.

    I just got mine today and took it out to the range. It ran fine with CCI Blazer 38 grain round nose, CCI Stinger 32 grain hollow point, and Federal 40 grain round nose.
    But with Winchester Super X 40 grain PowerPoint and Armscor 36 grain high velocity hollow point, I was getting primer strikes and no fire. Also had a few jams with them. The Armscor is one dirty ammo too. Every shot there was a cloud of smoke. I tried them both in my Walther P22 as well and still got primer strikes with no fire a few times.

    Ours likes the mini-mags (especially the 36gr), blazers, and thunderbolts...it doesn't like federal or aguila, and chokes on the winchester...we normally test a 100 of any brand, and even the best running ammo sometimes has an issue, which i am prone to dismiss as .22 rimfire, but because of the occasional issue even with prefered ammo our lcp ll is just a range toy, not trusted 101% for carry (the missus really dislikes and doesn't trust it)...we are only keeping it because we don't want anyone else to rely on an unreliable firearm, and it is a decent range gun...

    I had feeding, extraction, and light primer strikes with mine across a wide array of different ammos. Wanting this tiny pistol to work for me for deep consealment i went down a rabbit hole of interwebs research. The spring kit from galloway precision took care of the issues i was having across all the ammunition i had tried excepting cci stingers. They wont feed in mine as the chamber is too short and stops it from going completely into battery. I no longer had to drop the magazine or dig out shells stuck in the chamber the extractor released there. Turned mine into a 100% reliable machine. Have carried it for 3 years or so now loaded with federal punch for carry, and what ever i have handy for plinking. I like your holster, i have wore out 2 of the ruger ones, would love to know what it is, and how it works for you as i am considering upgrading.

      It’s a decent gun with the right ammo for sure. Stingers and velocitors are well known not to fit in many tight chambers. I have head the Galloway kit is a “must” but mine runs fine without it. If you like th size of this the LCP II in .380 or the S&W bodyguard .380 are the same size and offer better reliability in a centerfire cartridge. But I love my little LCP II in 22, I don’t carry it often though- and mine won’t run on punch either.

      @@crankygunreviews good morning. Mine runs the punch flawlessly. That the funny thing about these pistols is the variations of experience people who have bought them have. Some run great out of the box, some are ammo finicky, some people cant get theirs to run at all. I actually have the 380 version, but can not hit well at all with it, where as the 22 version i do really well with. Have a ton of rounds through it between cycling out the ammo ive sweated on all day in the evenings in my back yard, or just rolling cans and what not.

      I often tell people if their gun runs poorly, or they think it is not accurate, let someone else shoot it - often the issue is the shooter.

    Have you tried the
    CCI Mini-Mag MeatEater .22 LR 36gr Cooper plated Hollow point?

      If that is the same specification as the regular 36gr mini-mags (and I think it is) our lcp ll really likes them...

    With this small barrel length, is there any significant benefit to hollow point ammo?

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  2 роки тому +2

      Most likely not. Maybe with stinger or velocitors is may, but they’re still a waste because they just have a huge fireball, not as much velocity.
      My point in testing any new gun I get is just to make sure I have ammo that functions in it.

      @@crankygunreviews thank you! I am gonna get that gun as my primary self defense gun and get good with it.

      @@robert50173 I wouldn’t carry this as a primary personally, but it’s better than nothing. I carry a Smith and Wesson M&P bodyguard .380 which is the same size, a few ounces heavier, and center fire typically. It’s a lot more reliable, more powerful, and fits in a pocket or disappears on my hip

      @@crankygunreviews Thank you. I have never needed to carry in over 40 years. If I ever think I am gonna be in a questionable area I would only pocket carry. I carry OC, flashlight, and skills...A pocket .22 would be a huge increase.

      Always- but you need to know what your gun functions with before choosing any SD ammo

    Not a reliable test theory, the later rounds has to contend with a dirtier gun from shooting continious.

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  10 місяців тому +2

      It doesn’t matter that much. I’ve taken a 10/22 to the range and cleaned the chamber every 5 rounds and accuracy and reliability wasn’t that different if I did 100 rounds between cleaning.
      If you think it matters make a video proving me wrong
