In the era of shorts and reels, only you guys have the guts to make a video of 45 mins and still people watch it.. why - its worth watching it. Great one guys..👍🏻
Highlight of the episode is 13:09, "Now I remember, why I remember"
Classic Shumi
For me, the highlight was at 16:48 :)
😁😁
for me its aah discount chaiye 26:00
For me it's lo ....kharid lo 😂
Everytime Schumi gives a quick look at the camera is pure meme material. 😂
Has to happen!
@@motorinc waiting for the GIF collection of Schumi's reactions 😅😆
We want a compilation video of shumi quick look at the camera😂😂
Conclusion of this video is simple -> Mahindra should hire less skilled test drivers.😅
Hahahahahahhahahaha
Schumi's reaction to fun, fast and fearless, was just "Mastercard" priceless. 🤣
I could literally feel the frustration percolate out from my 32" 4K Monitor.😆
Never change, Schumi, neveri!😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's really interesting that XUV 400 is a SanYong underneath, Nexon EV is Indica underneath, like the Indian engineering at its peak [getting back every penny out of R&D] & good to that THISCONNECT will be back looking forward to it
😁 So are we!
7:47 I love shumi's quick responses like these 😂👍
😁
Perfect way to have my Sunday morning, cars and coffee with 2 of my favourite hosts.
Morning SK! Thank you again!
Just in time for sunday morning breakfast podcast 🙂🙂❤
Morning! What’s cooking? 😁
@@motorinchad upma, while enjoying every second of this motorinc first 😄
This looks like me during my year end appraisal discussion with boss. 😢😢 . At times get cornered " cautious, pro , reckless etc"😂😂😂. So relatable😮😮😢😢
Hahaha!
Just stopped to write a comment on your question, "what do they achieve by throwing acronyms at us?" So they do it to confuse the customer. In India, that has been the strategy, right? "Confused customer is the best Customer" 😂
That is true!
This comment makes more sense than Mahindra's nomenclature and marketing strategies put together. XUV 700 AX7L is actually a car and not a Windows 2000 activation code
Not sure about the 24-30k kms per year logic. Petrol cars cost ~ ₹8 per km whereas EVs cost ₹1-2 per km. So even in the worst case scenarios it takes 50000 kms to make up the extra cost (including savings from service costs). Considering mass market owns cars for 5 years on average, one needs to drive not more than 10-12k kms per year which equates to ~1000 kms per month. I’m an EV user for the last 3.5 years and you can trust me with these facts
Same here
Driven Nexon EV 23k since nov21
Pov you wait for Sunday '9:30' so you can hear dad jokes and rndm awkwardness... Love every part of it.
🤪
Is there a mojo 400😊...thanks for the video... appreciate the review
Not that we know of. And, glad for it.
Design of nexon is killer.. It's sub 4 meter still a big hit with high price because aspirational product.
👍🏽
Folks pl increase the timeline of such video casts. I truly enjoy watching such video casts .No edm music . Relaxing 😊
Hey AV! Thanks for that!
Shumi's look at 9:01 is all of us! Epic 😂
😃😃
10/10 for the quick summary. One thing I would point out is that the text prompts are way too quick to just glance at what's written in them. Look around the 15 mins timeline. Maybe a small tip would be to split the screen to show both the hosts and the info at the same time.
These long format videos are really good maybe they're not algorithm friendly but i love them
Good way to spend 50 minutes of a nice sunday morning after great Sunday ride
Awesome! How was it? And where to?
10/10 - jargons are probably the way of how all industries seem to use to promote themselves and be counted in the crowd. For me a vehicle is an extension of one s personality, which for me the IC engines are closest. 😊
We get it! ❤️
I think it'll be great to see both of y'all talk about the legendary motorcycles and cars India has had in the history. We've had so many gems and since we do love hearing you guys speak, I believe a dive in the history (deep and relatively new) would be great!
Thanks for the suggestion J!
Your Summary was brilliant... just that after the summary you still had some more left to say 😅
Wish you guys take on the manufacturers for After Sales Service too...
Why don't you guys start something like the JD POWER thing
Was really attracted to the XUV 300 ... a friend who used to drive a Mitsubishi Outlander now drives the XUV 300 and praises it a lot ... now I am a bit confused how he is so happy with the XUV 300 after having driven a Mitsubishi Outlander

Shumi’s summary was spot on 10/10
Awesome!
Amount of head nodding by shumi in this video 😂
His side eye too!
Amazing all your videos are so good its close to perfection even by international standards I just love them.
Thank you so much 😀!
Great episode. Regarding the last point that Shumi mentioned on an alternative way of replying to comments - one option can be to use a Natural Language Processing model to group similar questions together and answering them once. The same can be done for feedback (both positive and negative, especially positive). The added benefit is that viewers will have all the questions and answers in one place.
Thanks for the suggestion Agastya! Awesome!
Dear Sir, is it wise to get 10 months old manufacturing car if getting discount on a tune of 2.5 lacs. Variant is slavia 1.5 tsi mt ambition model
Karthik sir the way your spot-on about 400's traction control and wheel spinning problem is .....Uff!. Here's the story.
One of my friend got a XUV 400 from the first batch last year. One night he got into an accident with a Range rover. I'm like its a different league car...why? He said the acceleration was so exhilarating he felt confident racing that car. Exactly like you said he ran out of control in a corner with some sand, hit the range rover and they both hit the divider, half of the XUV 400's body got damaged bad (I'm surprised how it got 5 stars, front axle and 2 wheels popped out). Range rover got only 2 of its panels damaged.
He was in shock himself, he said in the first 2 months it seemed in control but something weird happened that night of the accident.
Lemme guess. EL stands for Electric Luxury and EC Electric Comfort. 😅
Wah! Wah! Khoob kaha!
Amazing perspective. I think it's about time we talk about all of the EVs under each segment in India.
🙏🏾 Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Karthik & Shumi!
Appreciate your content and perspective you bring to the table
Could you guys please upload Motorinc first on Hyundai i20 N Line?
We would love to! Thanks for the reco!
Your Video Editor is amazing. Your discussion or the research are seriously good but i think behind the scenes efforts also needs to be appreciated.
Good job

Thank you so much for that AG! Will pass it on!
I'm at 12,000kms in exact 6months.
My experience is I won't go back to ICE in future if I have a choice.

Great to hear! And that’s the kind of usage you need.
Excellent review, tremendous
I think automobile companies should start thinking of launching retro vehicles with tech Gizmos inside and am feeling there is a big market for such retro looking vehicles! Unless it's me going thru a mid life feeling😂
Hahaha! That’s many of us!
Isn't that what Ioniq 5 did?
Very enjoyable episode! Please make more.
Just love the reactions of Karthik when Schumi asks about EC, EL and L-mode. I can totally relate to him as this is the same reaction I have when I go to customer discussions where you are always asked about the things you did not prepare or thought its important.
Now we want to know more about what you do! 😁
The honesty with which you guys discuss every aspect of a car is really good.
It’s better for all of us, isn’t it? 😊
@@motorinc yes. definitely

Me being a genZ gotta say you guys are awesome and a bless for car/bike lovers … you take experience to the next level and gotta say these podcasts (are they?) provide calm to the mind … never stop with these 🛐
Wow, thank you!
44:55 The top end XUV300 Turbo Petrol AMT costs about 70k less on road Maharashtra than the XUV400 EL Pro single tone 39.5KWh. That's about 1500/month difference in EMI. Or about 15 liters of petrol (that will take you about 200km on the Turbo Petrol)
250km in 1 month is all it takes for it to become economically viable in month#1. How do you say that it will take 100km/day? And remember that this is for a larger car than the XUV300. Do explain this one.
Good point actually. I am also interested in knowing this.
@@ajayrathore8704 Correction: the ICE price is for the Diesel. But then it just increases the breakeven point from 250 to 350km / month! That's still much much lower than Karthik's estimate of 2000-3000km.
Exactly I also did the same calculation. If you are driving 300km per month, you are breaking even. At 500 km per month, it's a no brainer
If you take any car in 28% GST + 15% (or 22%) cess, it's EV counterpart would be definitely better. Only in case of sub 4m sub 1.2L engines, petrol would be competitive
But then you are also getting a lower class product compared to seltos and cretas of the world.
Mahindra's NMC chemistry vs Tata's LFP chemistry which is better as per your vision?? I also heard that in Mahindra's upcoming born electric cars they are using BYD's Blade Technology Batteries. Have to see. In blade technology batteries there will be a gap between each battery cell with which if one cell gets effected it doesn't pass on to the other cells.
So have we. If they do, it will be awesome.
In my view Mahindras NMC is better than Tatas LFP because ,
1. Mahindra uses the battery of Farasis Energy which is a brand in worlds top 10 battery manufacturer list. Whereas Tata haven't yet properly reported the company they use.
2. Nexon EV has a large number of battery replacement got within the last few months where none of XUV never did a battery replacement.
3. If Tatas LFP is of a good quality why can't they offer a good period of warranty like BYD does.
4.LFP is a testing technology it's still not that stable as NMC. So BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Premium cars of Tesla,Volvo,Kia,Hyundai all uses the same NMC as Mahindra.
After these scenarios I think XUVs NMC is obviously better than TATAs LFP.
But still actual LFP technology of BYD which is gonna be used in future BE series of Mahindra can be better than current NMC of XUV400
@@HkJ3708Tata uses GotionGX cells
Battery replacement is a last resort solution for errors which can’t be resolved at dealer level, since replacement offers fastest turnaround time for issue resolution because dealer cannot open battery due to tool and worker lacking
Nexon EV has sold 100k+ unit so obv purely statistically, even if both xuv and Nexon have equal issues, more number of nexons will be affected
BYD LFP is gold standard of LFP
Next CATL Qilin LFP
Tata LFP is nowhere close to them, that much I agree
BMW Mercedes etc make performance cars for which LFP adds extra weight which is undesirable
Further, for these luxury cars, cost is not an issue for their buyers but for budget cars it is.
Most of these western EV makers have colder climates where NMC works fine while for hotter climates, LFP is suited due to its higher operating temp range of 60°C compared to NMC which is good till 30°C only
slightly off topic, but what is your opinion about DCTs currently in the market (Hyundai/Kia). Are they reliable for say 15 years?
15 years - hard to comment on that. The newer generation DCTs are better. We see a 10 year lifespan as a reasonable worry free phase.
That's a10/10 summary Shumi!
Hey,
When are you going to do the VW / Skoda cars? Eagerly looking forward to your views on Taigun / Kushaq / Virtus / Slavia.
Love your work and the refreshing depth that you go into, as against the same 5 things every other channel talks about, along with the calm and poise with which you do it.
Do search in the channel - we have driven the Slavia and the Taigun. Let us know what you think?
@@motorinc Thanks for your reply. I did find a short video on Slavia and another one of safety where taigun is featured. Can't seem to find the first drive deep dive videos for these cars. Would you be able to share the link?
Thanks for the video.
I hope mahindra improves the few niggels as this seems like a potentially great car.
Could the login of 90kmpl fun mode be that most of the time we do not go above this speed? And also EVs get lesser range the higher speed it runs at.
Hullo CS! By that argument - the other modes should have been calmer too. And they can be.
@@motorinc I was trying to guess what Mahendra's rationale could be.
Although I believe they should have not given such a low limit to fun mode. Power response should only be the criteria between modes.
@motorinc i have drive of 60 kms a day . Booked kushaq ambition model. But sir you think hybrid should be my choice..? N if yes why.?
A strong hybrid would be an excellent long term choice. Do you plan to hold on to it for long!
Waiting for this video. It helped us a lot
Thanks for letting us know SG! All the best!
Here is one topic I would like you guys to talk about.
The lack of 7 seater SUVs with side-facing third row seats that come with an automatic transmission.
Why is this important? Because I own a TUV 300 AMT version and I'm finding it incredibly difficult to replace it.
Side-facing third row seats provide an independent door for third row passengers to get in and out of the car without disturbing second row passengers. When you have a single passenger on the third row containing side-facing seats, that person gets to stretch their legs like they're on a bed. In conclusion, I would say that unless you put tall people in them (you shouldn't be putting tall people in any third row to begin with), side facing third row seats are superior to
front facing third row seats.
An automatic transmission option on such a vehicle provides added convenience. The only vehicles that offer side-facing third row seats anymore are the Bolero, Bolero Neo and the Scorpio Classic and unfortunately, none of them provide an automatic transmission option anymore.
Hi, you have not talked about the battery technology in the car
@MotorInc, @Shumi, Guys, the lengths you go to to reply to almost all comments is insane! It has always been a huge differentiator and something I love and respect you guys for. And so I have absolutely no problem believing its becoming dofficult/messy... Huge respect to you guys for trying to think of a way to keep interacting with us. Hope you can find a solution where we can still interact but its not hectic like crazy for you guys...
Thanks for being with us in these conversations! Means a lot.
Loved this. As a potential buyer I went for a test drive of the older model. Agree to the core wrt steering feedback
There is one point of the review where I have a different point of view and maybe that is because I am an EV owner is that it is an economical decision. Be it cost of charging and also the maintenance cost overall they are much much cheaper than ICE vehicles. I would definitely want to hear more as to why Kartikeya feels that they are a lifestyle decision and not an economical one.
Hey RS! Would be great to know how much you are clocking per month. Also, what do you drive! Thanks in advance!
@@motorinc I have a Nexon EV Prime and I have been clocking about 1400 kms per month. I have had the car for 1 year 6 months and during this time I have done highway trips as well from Pune to Nashik, Shirdi, Goa, Mahabaleshwar and Ahmedabad.
Wholesome content ❤
Thanks for being here with us for the conversation!
Hey any plans to ride the V-strom 800DE anytime soon?
We would love to!
Most of the people who are buying an electric vehicle today, are just buying it for the experience, for a city car it is fairly economic, just have a blast for a commute of 150km per day and just forget about the fuel prices with acceleration this quick, plus the cost of service is just about 2k and I know soke people who had bought nexon back in 2020 and they have done upwards of 75k km and there is no major part change including the tyres, they don't give broader tyres so that we can get more range from the ev
Low was also used by honda amaze diesel automatic 1.5 i-dtec and it means that it won't go to higher gear and in mahindra it means Low speeds and if you try to go high speed it will just leave you stranded when ever you leave the accelerate peddle with that pull of regen. As far as the previous owners are concerned, I have many friends who have bought the "pre feature version" the good part was that they got a heavy discount on the top end variant at that time(long range model) many of them got it for around 16.5 lakhs including the fast charger and fair deal of accesories
Can you guys do a review of the BYD Seal?
Excellent critical evaluation….. very good feedback, review, and insight to consider before buying one….
Glad we could be of help!
What an engaging talk on a car. Btw, loving those small banters between you two. TWO THUMS UP
Thanks so much VG! 🙏🏾
So thorough. And such an engaging conversation. You are so right - there are still so many questions about EVs still. We seem to be at least 2 years away from this being a rational choice in India, if ever.
Great episode. Thanks.
Thanks for making time to talk with us here! Appreciate it!
Shumi's smile on 12:33 touchscreen infotainment screen size. 😂
Karthik should mention in points specifically.
Also we need Mojo xt400 for sure.
Hahaha!
Really nicely done Much appreciated.. I have purchased Mahindra 400 the newer version and pretty much everything you said subject up, except for the fact I was really disappointed with the music system that was really pathetic in this stage and it does not allow you to mirror your phone or watch videos even with the android auto, Play and CarPlay, and all that so could you please elaborate on that and is there like an easy fix to it? Can you like change the system?
Glad it helped! Yes you can definitely upgrade the system with better speakers. The head unit will be more tricky as it works with the OEM software which includes menus for car functionality too.
Thanks for the response Don’t really want to change the head unit it’s fine I guess hopefully in future it will support cell mirroring and video play… but the sprockets are very disappointing and definitely need a small sub at least to be decent… what I wanted to know any special attention tin needed since it’s a Ev
I think you guys should do an episode of thisconnect where you can share some industry insider information about the OEM thinking on alternate fuel like electric, hybrid and hydrogen. Because coming from you will make it trustworthy.
Well put on the details 👍 Irony is while watching this video, UA-cam is playing the xuv 400 ads😂
No way! 😃
Good to see you people
Good to see you too Vikram! Have an awesome one!
10/10 on the summary and watching the whole empirical conversation about a vehicle is EL Pro Max.
E: Earnest.
L: Logical.
Hahaha!
A while back there was a media blitz of many prominent channels doing review of Nexon Vs 400, all of them recommended Nexon at the end but it was quite evident that they were really promoting and making a case for 400 by giving it more air time in the video.
You didn't just give an honest review but also talked about EV purchase dilemmas which needs a deeper conversation.
My everyday commute is 70 km, 5 days a week, will EV make sense?
That’s 1400km a month. Not in the sweet spot… so is it a lifestyle choice? 😁
Definitely go ahead brother. I drive around 2,000kms a month. Now I'm at 12,000km exactly after 6months. In my calculations by 5years I would cover the car cost entirely. 😂
I drive Tiago EV.
Go ahead.. 👍

Nice review ❤,
Waiting for your discussion on
" are evs greener than ice"
"Ethanol in fuels"
Yessah!
One important thing that's missed in this otherwise great discussion was the battery pack chemistry used in XUV400 and its difference with what we get in Nexon EV.
XUV uses Ni-MH (also known as NMC) type battery pack, which is cheaper to produce, have less longevity (charge cycles), self-discharges even at no use (for longer durations) and less secure overall as it is more likely to experience thermal runaway.
On the other hand, Nexon uses LFP batteries which is indeed less environmental friendly (contains toxic elements such as cadmium) but in the vehicle they can perform better even after years of abuse and after many charge-cycles. .They don't discharge without a power draw for longer durations and is a safer option as well.
Can't resist a big chuckle at Shumi's expressions at @22:25 😅
I can only picture Kartikeya's thoughts while presenting these features to Shumi! 😂
😆
Hey karthikeya i know this is personal but had to ask what does the tattoo (right hand)on your arm mean? Dont mind if you are not comfortable sharing😅.
Love u guys! 🤟🏻
Shumi asked how flat bottom wheel is helpful
- it gives you more space for your legs to move it making ingress and moving out easier.
Thanks KT!
There is a specific question for Kartik. Does it a have a charge limit function to avoid charging the battery to 100% and protect the battery?
Fast charge always cuts off at 80% if that’s what you are referring to.
@@motorinc no boys. NMC battery should not be charged to 100pc everytime. So you can slow charge upto 80-85% for daily use and increase it to 100% if you are going on a longer trip once in a while. Nexon has LFP and no automatic cell balancing, that's why you need to charge it to 100pc more regularly to get full capacity.
Hi guys, can we get to see your views on BYD cars??
We want to, but no cars have been made available for test.
I dont know at what range the Summary rating needs to be, BUT for me it was 10/10
Nice shirt Kartikeya ji.
Glad to hear that!
Summary 10/10
Booked the 39.4 kwh battery pack model and waiting for delivery. Believe me, it is way better than previous version. It is way more comfortable than Nexon for a person of my built. I was never in for EV vehicles but after driving this and looking at it’s practicality I went in for this. Plus at this price range we don’t get much of a vehicle except shoddy maruti and hyundai vehicles. I somewhat like the basic stuff which really works in long term. It has cruise control, traction control, rear AC vents, sunroof, 6 airbags, wireless charger and not to forget a very usable boot. Rest I hope this decision is not wrong as it is my first car 😅
3:58 OMG! Chevrolet Beat Diesel LT 2011 daily driver here, I can’t believe my car is mentioned here!😅
I’ve put on about 115K kms on it and still going strong! Had no major issues on it and it being diesel still gives 20+ kmpl milage as well!🔥 The interior is still in pristine condition, the quality is unbelievable in the sense that it has lasted in such a good condition for this long! Shame to see such a capable company leave a developing country which has such high potential.
I unfortunately am not able to find the brochure online anywhere but I might have the physical copy of it lying somewhere since the time I bought it 😂 if you anybody wants it, do reply I’ll scan it and drop a g-drive link.
Please! Pretty please!
Can Mahendra use platform of Tivoli now when they broke partnership with them ?
They are not using the platform. It's the car itself. Like rebadging with some change in headlight shape😃.
So the car has a better quality it seems.
They did own it…
Late to the party but I am someone who drives 80 kms minimum a day for 6 days a week with a cng vehicle. I don't think the premium charged by Ev's make any sense because the cost of ownership is so high as compared to the car I own, it doesn't make any sense to me. Given I live in Gujarat, I usually don't face queues for CNG pump at all for the 95% of the time. Would surely a comparison cng vs EV on cost metrics sometime in the future.
That’s such a no brainer. And CNG prices have dropped too!
Summary 9/10...... just room for improvement
😁
Agree with what all has covered....i am one of the Beta testers of the car😅 love the car...but really disappointed that the car became outdated in a single year with pro model launched......one issue with the car is lack of accessories.
White colour looks zabardast
Bought the XUV400 EL Pro two weeks ago. Have owned and driven a Tesla model Y for over a year so I have lived the life of an EV owner.
The space inside is just very practical and the performance of the car in “fun” mode is adequate. It makes a lot of sense to drive this car here in Bangalore with adequate charging infrastructure. Finally, I actually like the light steering wheel for a city car like this. Really helps be nimble in this stop start traffic.
Where I feel they still have to do a lot more is the QA on the units. My drive mode switch was faulty from the time of delivery and is still not fixed. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt however i am patiently waiting for them to fix it with new switches.
The OTA with CarPlay and adaptive reverse guidelines are also still just promises with no ETA
Adrenox is no where close to being a finished product in itself, for me, this has been the biggest let down. ( remember my reference is a Tesla)
Honestly, the real things addressed.! Kudos team! I have driven it around 20,000kms now and it was just so simple to figure everything out in first 200kms, I am not sure what all other influencers are promoting without these real touch points. Appreciate on your team's effort on being so thorough. :)
Holy to hear from you SM! You’ve clocked a lot of km in a short span of time!
