Thanks for reviewing this. I’m a Tom Bihn guy and like the look of this, but I do wish they’d included some more internal organization, like a couple pouches or zipper pockets. And you’re right about the o-rings - so simple and yet really useful. Well done!
I love this design. I've been using the Side Effect for over 3 years as a man purse or a bag to strap onto my bike handlebars. Sometimes I need something just a wee bit bigger to accommodate a water bottle or tablet. The only thing that I would want in a bag like this is external straps on the side to rig a tripod on the exterior.
Thank you for watching and glad to hear the side effect has held up so well! Good point on the external straps as well that would have been a nice addition!:)
Thanks, this is the best review of this bag out there. I am tempted by your review of the slightly more compact Greenroom136 MetroRunner (6L volume). I also did notice that Le Grand Derriere is almost the exact dimension/form factor as the Greenroom136 MetroMonger (which comes in at 9L). Just another option for folks to consider. Tom Bihn is US made/costs more and has some fun colors, Greenroom136 costs less but with international shipping they end up pretty close. Seems like Greenroom136 is currently under a lockdown in Malaysia for a few more week also.
@@maxm3515 no only to AER travel backpack 2.0. The AER beats it in capacity and organization. But the Shell one of the most comfortable harness system and some smart ideas. But the lack of willingness to listen to feedback from backers who dedicate their life to bags, hindred thos bag from being awesome, and now it settle with a good. Pricing is way to high though. I would suggest bigger Zipper size. Compression straps above the waterbottlepockets Different waterbottlepockets (they suck) Seperated laptop compartment and add a tablet pocket. Add more real dimension to the smaller pockets. Make the hips straps fitting with velcro or D-rings (atm they are sewed to the bag) Bring back the fidlocks and add magnet to the top of the bag to secure a better closure.
Does this bag start to slide to bottom right once full, ie water bottle+lightweight jacket+ small camera? I find that all skins and up like this, off worse hanging from side while cycling
Thank you for watching and that’s great you were able to get the Arclite! I haven’t had a chance to test that out but I really like boundary products and it’s nice that one can hold a smaller laptop!:)
A little large for a sling. I recently purchased a 3.5L evergoods hip pack and that is the maximum size I feel comfortable with. Larger than that then it's 2 straps.
Thank you for watching and that’s a fair point definitely reaching the limit especially for a hip pack for me. Curious to test out the Evergoods hip pack looks pretty interesting!:)
At what point does a sling become too big {large, heavy, unbalanced, uncomfortable} and it is then better to get a small backpack? With camera gear, body, two lenses, a small tablet (under 800g), power bank, mobile phone and any accessories you want (spare batteries, mouse, keyboard, cables) a 6 or 7 litre bag can carry 5-7kg in weight and be bulky heavy brick. Even at 2kg a sling may slide down all the time and you have to wear it over the shoulder not slung on your back. Slings with some external straps that can be used for a tripod, umbrella or jacket are useful. Also have to watch out for designs that only really work over one shoulder and end up having the content and zippers upside down when carried over the other shoulder as the shoulder padding is one end only and they are not symmetrical.
Thank you for watching and great points! This is always the struggle I have with slings in general, I don’t really like how limiting smaller slings are or how they look but will normally prefer backpacks once you hit a certain size. I guess for me the quick access of a sling and the look with a nicer outfit sometimes help but I’m still primarily a backpack guy at heart :) haha
Thank you for watching! I’m definitely similar, backpacks are still my go to but some of these options make me feel like I could start using slings in certain scenarios! :)

Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! Good call on the Metrorunner as well, really solid alternative to this one!:)
Seems interesting. Atm Tropicalfeel shell has taken over the spot as my EDC. Wish the bucklet was a fidlock though.
Wow Shell looks really nice. Have you compared it to the Pakt Travel Backpack??

Waiting for mine to arrive from pre-order, I went with the all black also!
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy using the bag alot!:)
I just got mine. And there is a pen slot! It’s to the right of the buckle pocket! I just found it by accident.
Thank you for watching and good find! That’s great to hear it has even more organization!:)
@@dannypacks I’m so bummed. Tonight my window was smashed and bag was stolen. :(

I like Grand Derriere's and I cannot lie, you other brothers can't deny... 🎶
Thank you for watching! And I now can’t get this song out of my head!:) haha
I liked this bag and brand, however I ordered a Boundary Supply Arclite Sling.

Cool video 👍🏻 I've been a backpack guy all my life, but I'm greeting into the sling world slowly 😉

In french a "grand derrière" is.. a big butt.
Thank you for watching and that definitely makes sense! :) haha
Reminds me of DEFY Insidious Jr
Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to check out Defy bags but I’ve heard good things about them!:)
Great video crappy sling thanks for saving me fortune
