I understand these 5am videos get a lot of views, but the reality is the most important thing for productivity is getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep, and not forcing yourself to sleep early just to wake up at 5am. As long as you get good sleep, and complete your daily goals, there is no need to wake up at 5am

It can give structure to your day though. Since I wake up early instead of 12 in the midday I'm so much more in control of my day. 5 A.M is a bit overkill IMO. 6:30 is just fine. It's just that these Lifestyle UA-camrs add so much complete utter bullsh*t to their morning routines. "I don't check my phone in the first hour"; "I take cold showers"; "I meditate for x hours every morning". Fuck that shit bro you don't we all know you don't. Like we make it way too difficult for ourselves. Just go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, drink your coffee eat your breakfast and go do your thing.

@@Melvin420x12 nothing but facts here, like for me it doesn't matter how early i wake up if i dont get my 7-8 hours i can't do shit for work, you can even wake up even at 10 am and do your deep work all the way to night time without issues depending on your responsibilities. obviously earlier in the day you get less distractions from people unless you live alone but all this 3am and 5am bs does absolutely nothing than waking up at 7 am or 9 am

You didn't watch the video before commenting, but yes indeed, sleep is the most important! This is why I explain the slowly building it up for your circadian rhythm and having a proper night time routine. There are other benefits to waking up at 5AM which I all explain in the video. Guess what? Most people do not "complete their daily goals", so while you're totally right, there is a clear benefit to a number of people to this lifestyle change. I didn't make this video as a challenge or experiment for views, I started doing this many years ago ;)

I beg to differ. It’s all subjective. But….. waking up and getting stuff done when less energies are out and about is actually amazing. This only applies if you live in a big city.

Just something to add which goes with a lot of what you are saying. I find that setting an early time to wake up such as 5am helps you build momentum for your day. It is the first thing on your list of things you plan to accomplish and if you start your morning with something as relatively easy as getting up at a certain time you can use that as a momentum builder to tackle your other tasks for the day. No matter how out of control your day gets you can always go to bed that day knowing that at least you stuck to your core discipline of getting up that time and doing your best to take on the rest of your tasks... I suppose this also helps instil some internal grattitude towards yourself to always have something positive to think about at the end of your day.

I wanna start waking up at 5 during this summer here in South Africa, by 6AM the sun is out blazing hot, I'd like to take a morning jog. But I'd definitely aim for 6 or half 6 in the winter. But definitely have to work even harder to sleep earlier to get enough rest.

Not for everyone, but it definitely worked for me. My income nearly doubled since I started waking up early. It's so helpful getting up at a time wherever no one is texting, messaging, or no other roommates and family are up at the same time to bother you. I'm very A.D.D., so I need to optimize myself and focus on one thing at a time to help maximize my potential. Getting up right into the action where so much crap is going on already is terrible for my focus.

everyone one who does not get good 7-9 hours sleep a day, might get alot of problems if you only sleep like 4-6 hours a day. Things like alzheimer can be a cause later on in life if you sleep less alot of the time. Its fine to wake up at 5, if you go sleep at 8-9pm

    • @MerijnOfficial
