I discuss this at the end of the video but if you don’t want to stick around that long- YES this food is very expensive. You’re paying for quality product and peace of mind. It’s just the way life is- if you want to feed a complete diet that’s healthy with no artificial preservatives, with appropriate meat and organ it’s going to be pricey. They don’t cut corners. I’ve been getting lots of messages asking for cheaper alternatives, this is the only dry food right now that I recommend for ferrets at this point in time. Cheap foods will compromise your ferret’s health.

OMG THANK YOU I NEEDED THIS! I’m adopting a 3 year old ferret this week. Technically I’m saving her. Poor babies never been taken to the vet, desexed, vaccinated, descented, and they say they only take her out of her small cage every 2 days:( she’s also never been bathed or nails been clipped. 😭😭 I cant wait to care for her!!
I recommend not bathing her at all! If you want to bathe her the best way is to do an oat soak!
[Mod] nice job saving her. ferrets only need to take a bath 1-2 times a year. Unless the ferret is noticeably dirty, I’d avoid giving them a bath. And give them some time to settle. Too much stress isn’t good!

It’s surprisingly cheap! If you go to your local meat butcher shops you can get the organs and other part for a good price.
It's actually more expensive then raw . Raw is very affordable

I'm hoping to adopt a 2 year old ferret soon, poor baby hasnt really been socialised and has been fed Marshals. I live with my parents and they're strict vegetarians. We feed our cats and dogs dried and wet food because we cant really afford a raw diet and we cant access the things we need for it in the little village we live in. I really want to adopt this ferret but I was struggling to find a kibble that made me comfortable with letting my pet eat it. IM SO HAPPY YOU MADE THIS VIDEO!! I can afford Ziwipeak and I cant wait to adopt this poor ferret and convert it onto something that will make it so much healthier🥰🥰

Do you feed the beef or a different kind or a mix of two types?
I just use blue wilderness kitten food to my ferrets. And I know its working well coz they have more energy since I've switched and their fur is super silky smooth since they switched. Quality of fur is a good indicator of their diet. Only bummer of it is it only comes in a small bag but one bag feeds my 5 ferrets for 2 weeks

i’m a raw feeder but i’m still watching lol! i used ziwi peak & stella and chewys freeze dried raw cat food to help transition to frankenprey raw. i recommend blending with water because this food doesn’t hydrate easily. it comes out a wet food texture.

Thanks for posting this video it's very informative! I was wondering if you could please do a video on treats and enrichment? I'd love to get something like an antler chew or bone chew for a ferret. I currently don't own one because I want to do as much research as I can before I do. I'm also actually asking veterinarians for advice also.

I know you have talked about most of that but I need a way to convince my parents that kibble isn’t good and that it isn’t way to expensive to feed them raw. Thank god I saw this video bec I was getting scared, I do not own my own Apartment and I REALLY want to feed raw but I just can’t at the moment I felt so bad for weeks not being my pets a good food. So I’m happy that you posted this I might be late lol but I just recused my two ferrets from a horrible family. So I kinda just got thrown them and didn’t have time to figure it out, thank god I got a check to pay for a nation cage and other things for them like bowls and toys but at the moment I am ferret proofing my room so they can be free to walk around my bedroom is sadly all I can give bec I do not live alone and I do have cats, the cats do go in another room while they are out I know that lol they would kill each other, anyways I really thought I should say thank you for making this hole thing easier on me
Thank you for educating me! I’m definitely going to try to transition my ferrets over to this food. They are currently on very unhealthy kibble and wysong freeze dry raw. Should I switch their freeze dry raw as well? We have already stocked up on a couple other brands to try.

Thank you so much for making such a good video with real information and using facts. I plan on getting 2 ferrets with in a couple of months from now (I'm trying to do as much research as I can and make sure I have enough money saved up before I get the little fur babies) but I wanted to ask, if the ferrets I get have been kibble fed, how would you recommend switching to the Ziwi Peak freeze dried food? If your going to add bones to your ferrets dry food diet. How do you suggest doing that? Buying like straight bone? I want to get the kiwi peak beef cat food for my ferret and add bones so they get all the nutrients but I’m unsure how to add it.

Hey bryn 🐾 I’ve been feeding feline natural and ziwi peak 1/2 and 1/2 . I’ve been binge watching your videos and just saw this, as you recommended ziwi peak in water….do you think I should separate the two foods?? Just pick one? Idk 🤷♀️ I want to give them the best diet but can’t ultimately go raw. I also give dehydrated chicken and beef liver as treats, (egg to my one who will eat it…). Thanks for any advice. My husband and I were given a ferret by a acquaintance, we are pretty sure it is a Marshal ferret. Our question is where do we find non Marshal ferrets? We don't have a ferret rescue close to us only the pet store selling Marshal babies for like $400.00 I would live to resume them all.. 😡 I had already heard some of the horror stories about Marshals... Anyway, we love your videos very informative, and your frequent surprise guests (ferret babies) make it so entertaining.. 😊
Hi there, you can tell if it’s a Marshall’s ferret because your ferret will usually have a dot tattooed in between their feet or somewhere on their ear. If you’re in the US, it’s near impossible to find a non Marshal’s ferret . They basically have a monopoly on ferrets in the USA because When they ship them to pet stores, they are already spayed/neutered. Maybe you can find a non Marshall’s ferret if they are imported from Europe or another country, but I’m not sure if there are restrictions on importing them. 🤷♀️

Hi, I have owned ferrets for 10 years in the UK. The diet in the books recommend 25 percent carbohydrates. I then focused on looking at the Black Footed Ferret conservation UA-cam videos for appropriate food and found rat, chicken, mice, was the best, supplements with 2 tsp of kibble. We could only access Orijen from Germany and Wysong was not available for years.
Origen is now sold at Pets at Home for cats and kittens.
I also feed egg yolk, removing the white as that does not contain protein.
Can you suggest portion sizes per ferret.
I have had 3 jills weighing 700g.
4 hobs weighing between 1.4 and 1.6kg and fed the following when hungry.
Hobs
2 mice small per day
Jills
2 pinkies.
Chicken wings raw with bone and skin.
Egg yolk once a week.
Kibble 2 tsp per ferret each day and they are fed in a feeder cage so they do not stuff and stash inside my sofa.

if the food is too hard for your ferret you could try blending it up with water!!
which option is the best for ferrets? there’s so many different meat options like beef, lamb, chicken. You mentioned trying different ones but which one do you think will be the best out of all of them? I was thinking beef but i’m still not sure

I have two questions first you get it from the cat section right? And second which kind East Cape, Otago Valley, or Hauraki Plains?
None of those kinds they all have the apple pumice which she advised can cause bladder stones. Get the regular ones like Beef, Lamb and Mackeral, Venison, Lamb, you can also mix any of this with Chicken which is higher in fat content so I wouldn't just feed chicken on it's own. And cat food only for the Taurine.
Do you know how long the bag would last for 2 ferrets I find it cheaper to bulk buy and the biggest bag I can find is 2.2lb

When you say serve it in water, what exactly do you mean by this? Should it be like a cereal situation where there isnt like a super large amount of water? Or should there be more water than the dry food in the food to water ratio? I just am curious for a better idea as i don't want to oversaturate the food if I don't have to to avoid messes as I am renting, but I also don't want to dehydrate my ferrets.

Get the ones without apple pumice. So just the plain ones like, Mackeral and Lamb, Beef, Lamb, Venison. Cat food version only.

I have a few questions when you say feed Ziwi in water do you mean like add water in the kibble/food and like let it soak or something? And could I have a feeding schedule? Well you don't really need to add more meat but you can. You should add water with a rmb and egg (not egg every day 1-2 a week)
also if you could explain the difference between , ziwi dog vs cat would help with alot confusion same goes with stella chews because there are the toppers which have veggies that are bad vs ones without not mention pure one freeze dry and instinct ultimate protein seen alot people feed and recommend this to eachother

No,she doesn't even promote wysong because of the ingredients she made a video when she was talking about that food. She does have a discord if you have anymore questions about ferret food. Someone is mostly to answer.
