- REQUESTED VIDEO! You all asked, I tried(?) to provide! I received lots of comments about a meal prep video. While I don't prep weekly or monthly, in this video I show you how I do it all in a way that works for me and my ferrets. I also show you how I order my meat online!
Yes, I did adopt two new fuzzies. Appa and Momo. I am SO happy to have them here with us, they really fit in super well and everyone gets along just fine. I do have some clips of transitioning them onto raw I may make into a separate video. As always, please comment any questions you may have for me!

Reptitan just my ferrets are raw! My cats and dog are “family pets” and I wouldn’t be able to afford feeding them raw too. I think depending on the breed of dog in the future I may feed them raw as well :-)

kori taylor most people who follow raw feed twice a day with exceptions to kits and ferrets with Insulinoma. I’ve measured how much they all eat by how much food they leave behind and don’t eat each meal, I’ve figured they all eat about 4oz of food each day give or take. But that number will change by the time winter comes around. It may double!

Washing dishes with cold or room temperature water after dealing with fatty meat helps to get the initial gunk off, learned that after making shrimp/pork dumplings 😇

Hi Bryn! I was just wondering for the evening do you give them something specific to what you are supposed to give? Like for Wednesday for heart would you have to give them another heart food or is something else okay?

This is a hot topic for sure! There is a popular myth being spread about that egg whites will cause biotin deficiency. Truth is, they contain an enzyme called avidin (avidin blocks biotin and makes it unavailable) Avidin is about 0.05% of the egg white, but there is plenty of biotin available in the egg yolk. It is one of the highest concentrations of biotin found in nature.
So feeding the yolk and white together will not cause any harm. Whisk together for best results! Hope this helps :)

What if I can’t afford a variety is it ok for them to eat something like raw chicken everyday with the exemption of some fish for treats every couple days?
Loved the video! is it possible to buy those types of meat in like carrefour for example, because where i live they have chicken necks, chicken hearts, livers and more (like almost everything you have)

Hi I have an important question u might not answer but I’ll give it a try so if you can’t give a raw diet what is the best kibble or ingredients I’m looking for in a kibble to have the best high quality kibble I can for a ferret cause I want them to be as healthy as can be or can I do something like give kibble then one day a week give something raw

This schedule will be fine for an 8wk old! Just make sure you're feeding enough food where there's a bit left behind after each meal :)

Hi! I really want to have ferrets but before I do I wanted to do my research. I've actually been researching for a year now but I never heard anyone saying where they get their raw meat from? Like can you just feed them the raw meat you buy at Walmart ?? Like you know buying chicken thighs from Walmart will be okay for them or any grocery store? Or do you buy them from specific stores? I am sure you can get it from anywhere, but Walmart may not have edible bones and organs.

Is it okay to give your ferrets turkey breast, chicken breast, kibble/dry food, and egg yolk? Monday I feed cut up turkey breast with a little bit of warm water. Tuesday is chicken breast cut up with a little warm water. It kind of goes like that through the week. Some times I give them ground beef with their meals. On Saturday I give one egg yolk. I know this is long but I really need an answer. Thank you.
They need organs in their diet. Not just breast and they should really have at least one source of red meat in their diet

Unless you use the highest quality kibble, they will likely get insulinoma.

So if I have a ferret do I have to make the raw soup? Or can I just do it solid and not soup-like
Pineapple most ferrets need to start out with soup. You don’t have to, it’s just what most have to do. Most ferrets won’t just eat meat immediately as is unless it’s a kit.

If you love to do belly kisses don’t get a male, for males they’re private is often confused as a belly button and :( ugh- nasty..

I am getting some ferrets soon and I found these 2 on craigslist and I might get them hopefully cause my mom won't listen to me about the Petco stuff so hopefully they contact me back before my mom contacts Petco again because they were all outa ferrets.

Can a person do a combination diet of raw and high-end kibble? I've heard that ferrets will refuse either or if they are fed exclusively one or the other. I'm asking because during parts of the year I may have to travel for a few days and my brother/ petsitter refuses to handle raw food 😭
KuddlyKisses No, it is not recommended to feed both raw and kibble. These are two totally different foods that require different digestion times. Feeding both raw and kibble has led to bacterial overgrowth in ferrets.
Feeding both also does not help the ferret in any way. Any illness due to kibble feeding (Insulinoma, bladder stones, dental decay) will still occur when feeding kibble.
I would look into Freeze dried raw or commercial grinds. Both are low effort to feed and a babysitter should be fine with this. You can also choose to board your ferret at a boarding facility and they will usually agree to feed the raw food if it’s pre packaged and labeled. I work at a dog boarding facility and we do this. We may charge extra as preparing the food takes a bit more time than pouring kibble in a bowl. Hope this helps! Don’t feel like you have to compromise your ferrets health by feeding an easy kibble diet if your pet sitter won’t feed it. Maybe try and make them understand why you do it.
@@Pazuandfriends Thank you! How do you keep your ferrets teeth clean? I've heard people feed their ferrets frozen thawed mice (the fur on the mouse acts as a tooth brush). I'm afraid the mice will have parasites because they are marketed for reptiles that don't need to worry about parasite transfer. Any suggestions/insights? You've been SO helpful so far ♥

Denise & Kay I think you can, but it makes the kibble go bad quickly. Salmon oil cannot be left out all day like kibble can be.

Hey you can have only raw meat diet as it is also more nutritional and doesn't cause health problems like kibble
If you do use a kibble make sure it doesn't have filler ingredients like wheat or corn
Make sure the first 3 ingredients are meat😁

amelie tonoyan a high protein kibble is best, cat food kibbles, and yes feed as much real meat as possible 😊

Hello! First off I would just like to say that I love your videos, but I have a question. When feeding raw, I noticed that you use chicken. Chicken carries salmonella, now here’s the question, can ferrets get salmonella form the raw chicken? Or does it not effect them.

strictly raw or you lose out on all the benefits of a natural diet. food poisoning is not an issue for healthy pets.

Nope shrimp is fine, just not as nutritious as other fish.
I thought ferrets were supposed to have quail, rabbits and duck? Higher protein meats than chicken and beef, genuine question I've heard different things so I get confused. How bad is a kibble diet? I was thinking wysong when I get one someday but I want to know everything and have been researching hence what led me here. I have watched some of your other video's also, very informative stuff! Jay Brooks the meats dont matter as long as they get the right amount of protein,fat,taurine and fiber. People say raw is better for their health and their coats however a well balanced kibble diet is almost as good, Wysong is a good brand however some products by them give ferrets diarrhoea

Jay Brooks well it depends on where u live, different places have different options plus budget. I live in England and the kibble options arent the best, try ones u think are good (look at the ingredients) if ur ferrets dont react well introduce a new one, try buy small amounts at first so ur not wasting ang money! Also these videos were made for questions. Bryn has answered so many of my questions in the past 😂

No, I don’t. Warming / cooking the food kills all the natural benefits and nutrients in the food! While the fuzzies would certainly love warmed meat, I do not do this.

Can baby ferrets have this diet because I’ll be getting very young ferrets?
Babies eat more than adults so you would have to feed them more but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for babies. In not 100% sure so do look into it.
Yes! This schedule would work for very young ferrets. I assume you mean 8weeks old and up? They eat from their mothers for awhile but then can move up to softer / wet foods. For the first few weeks after 8weeks old I would feed softer raw foods, avoid bigger bones until you think they are capable of chewing them properly. Other than that, babies just eat more food than a normal adult ferret would. Each of my ferrets in the summer eats 4oz of food per day. A young kit may eat double that amount. They should be allowed to eat as much as they want as they are growing.
Bobb Badoodle you are right! They just need to eat more than a normal adult would. However some kits are different (ex: smaller females) they usually eat a lot more though!

Bryn Katharine Hi sorry I don’t mean to be annoying but I’m a new ferret owner and I do have some questions, my main one is the diet, I currently have them on a cat food diet but I made sure it didn’t have any foods that they aren’t allowed such as corn etc it’s perfectly healthy dry food, mixed with warm water and a safe wet food, I was just wondering if this is an ok long term diet , my original plan was the raw meat diet but when I went to all my local butchers it was much too expensive, thank you

Have them read through this website - holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/ feeding raw is more cost effective in the end as you can potentially avoid very expensive illnesses such as: Insulinoma, bladder stones, dental issues etc. High quality kibble diets are equally expensive, so there isn’t much difference. Although they are prone to developing the illnesses I mentioned on a kibble diet.

Carefree Critters Sorry it took me so long to respond! I’m not used to getting so many comments!! Trying to respond to everyone. that looks fine! It follows the 80/10/10. Depending on how finely ground the mince is you’ll have to supplement with bigger bones or brush teeth weekly.

I got a younger ferret from a place but they were feeding Marshall's so thats what I continued to feed. She been stealing cat food alot lately. But doesnt show much interest on raw 🍖
