I just got two baby boys! Unfortunately, I couldn't get them from a breeder, but I drilled the shop for their info and immeadiately took them to the vet!
I've had my boys for almost a month now and they are an absolute joy! If only they'd stop sleeping in the litter box. 😅
How are your ferrets doing now?
@@gravy9278 Unfortunately, the younger of the two passed away due to an undiagnosable issue regarding his legs not working (poor thing didn't even make it to a year old), which put the other into a depression. I was in no state to take in another ferret at the time, so the remaining boy quickly grew unhappy. I had to rehome him and from what I last heard, he's doing much better with his new band of brothers. I wish things didn't happen the way they did, but at least he's doing well now.
@@moonknightfighter2233 I’m sorry to hear that, at least both boys are happier now, neither are suffering anymore. I couldn’t imagine having that happen in such a short period of time between getting them so I hope you’re doing well yourself. :(
Yeah, ferrets aren't nearly as abundant as dogs and cats so a rescue/breeder is not always an option. Yes it means supporting Marshall, which I hate, but at least you're giving the ferrets a good home.
It's so crazy hearing you talk about the "kit blues" in this video because I went through that exact thing about 2 months ago when I adopted my 4 month old jill. I've had ferrets before so I know how much work they are but I've never had a /baby/ ferret before so I was totally overwhelmed with the biting since I have 0 experience training animals. A week in I was crying and I regretted it so much and I was even thinking about re-homing her. 2 months later she's doing fantastic, she's super cute and likes to include me while playing. She's been doing amazing with her litter training and hasn't had an accident in a month! She still bites for attention here and there but that's just how they are, I've accepted it and I'm hoping I get out of this with tougher hand skin. 😅
I recently adopted 2 older hobs since she didn't have any friends and they've been doing great together. The difference between adult ferrets and juvenile ferrets is night and day. The boys are sooo calm and haven't even attempted to bite me once and like to be held. I'm hoping they will be a good example for her growing up. I definitely do not recommend young ferret(s) for your first!
Thanks for another great video. I wish I saw this before I got my baby ferret though hehe. You won't get anything out of your pets unless you're willing to put 2x the work in, so if you're having a hard time with a new pet, don't give up! It's so worth it when you start seeing results.

I just brought my adorably hilarious kit home this morning (who I've been waiting over a month for!). We're spending a few hours on the couch, playing with a cat wand while I re-watch your videos. I suspect she'll pass out soon.
It's super hard to find a ferret in my country, but I love these little fur babies and read a lot about them, and watch videos on how to take care of them. It's sad that I will likely never have one.

Wondering if you are still doing videos. I watched your videos for 6 months before making the decision to get a ferret. Now I have had 2 happy ferrets that free roam almost 24 hours a day for a year.They make me so happy!
I appreciate the video! I just got my daughter a baby, I wasn’t sure how young he was. Our other ones made it to 8&1/2 & 8 passing a while ago. It was a discussion but I didn’t realize how much attention he’d require. We’ll deal get through it & have a wonderful pet for years to come.

i know this video is from a while back but i watched this when i first got my ferret and am rewatching it now bc i’m getting another ferret and the kit blues are real!!! i remember when i first got my girl i was crying all the time bc i thought she didn’t like me and she was always getting into things and i was so scared i was doing it wrong. i just want to let anyone know who might be feeling this way that it does get better!! don’t give up or rehome your ferret. my girl is now a complete angel but i seriously thought i got a demon ferret at first. she now loves to play and is super relaxed so just don’t give up!! pets are hard at first but with a little dedication it will be okay :)

Omg I didnt even know the "kit blues" was a thing I'm so glad I now know I'm not going crazy. I got a new baby girl 2 weeks ago and definitely feel overwhelmed. The thing I feel most overwhelmed with is not feeling like my house is ferret proof enough even though I've done everything on the list. Anyways I'm glad I'm not crazy and I can't wait for the blues to pass.

Im getting a ferret!! He likes to be alone, but we got a 2 story feisty ferret cage,a small dog bed,and fleece blankets to cut into ramp covers so the bars don’t hurt his feet, and we’re going to get more stuff today. We’re getting him next week and we bought him from a professional breeder that handles them from when their born,she neutered him to prevent breeding,got him descented, and he should be home in a week or so he’s finishing up his first round of shots and we’re taking him back in about 6 months to get his last shots done! Im so excited!!! Do you have any recommendations for names or ferret products like toys,tubes,hammocks,etc. that your ferrets like? Also soon we’re going to move into a new house and he will be free-roam completely!😁❤️

So I have a question, a ferret came into my possession a couple days ago found by someone. Ive never owned one before although I’ve always wanted to so I’ve buckled down on learning everything I possibly can. He been cage free for the past couple days, but I do have a cage arriving in the mail although it is not my intention to use it much at all. Really the only time I want to use it is when I’m sleeping at night, is this okay ?
I’m not comfortable letting him roam outside my bedroom when I’m sleeping at night (because I obviously won’t be able to supervise if something were to happen) but he gets quite playful around 5am and wakes both me and my partner up by nipping our legs and what not. I often have work early in the morning so this really messes me up when I do have to get up early, that is why I’m considering keeping him in at night until I’ve woken up.

I had a ferret for almost 8 months now I had him since he was 6 months.. just brought another one he’s a baby not even 3 months yet.. they always fight and the older one always hisses at him.. how do I control this? It scares me bc my older ferret bites his neck and never lets go.. it’s very annoying.. I’m scared to even let them play. I just need some advice

What would you recommend to do if you have a ferret that bites everyone except you and your partner?
We tried since the beginning to socialize both of our ferrets and one is super ok with everyone, just wants to play and give kisses to everyone and the other just wants to bite and hurt everyone except us. We trained them the same way and we're getting out of options. But at the end if there's nothing we can do, we'll just respect the fact that she doesn't like other people and doesn't want to play or get involve with everyone.

Is it a good idea to let a kit roam around on carpet. Like accidents would be harder to clean up. Like any advice on that if it makes sense.

Someone, please help me with this question. I can not completely free roam the ferret in the room we are keeping him in, because of a low hanging cord that is sticking out of most of the walls in this room that we can not ferret proof. Instead, we will use a playpen. The playpen will be around the size of the whole room without the part with the cords sticking out (around 10 by 21 feet). I will use a sturdy playpen that is very tall. It will basically be the same as the whole room except for there will be a playpen all around them. Is this ok? They will also have access to their cage and be kept in the 10 by 21 feet playpen 24/7
why don't you just buy a cord protector?

Tysm I just got my ferrets on Sunday and they won’t eat idk why but they will eat the treats one of them and then they drink water but they are baby’s and I been giving them meat idk what the previous owners gave them to eat 😊❤
Hey do you have any recommendations for treats? Idk what to give my ferret Phineas as a treat. He’s on a raw diet and he loves it and I’ve tried giving him salmon oil as a treat he’s not super crazy about it he’ll eat it if it’s in his food but he doesn’t care to lick it off my finger or anything! You don’t really need to use treats you can just use pieces of meat, but the only treats that are good are one ingredient meat treats or if they have multiple ingredients make sure it’s all meat! :)

Quick note, depending on where you live, there may not be a rescue or quality breeder near you. These aren't dogs and cats where you can almost find the animal you want at one of these. Marshall's unfortunately has a near monopoly on ferrets in the US so don't feel bad if you're only reasonable option is petco.
Also, quality breeders are great but I've noticed many don't de-scent or fix their kits AND many won't sell to new ferret owners, so keep in mind those costs if going the breeder route.
Rescues are amazing as these are people truly commited to helping ferrets. But again, not always available simply because ferrets aren't nearly as abundant as dogs and cats(or even some reptiles). Also, some have location restrictions. I live within 5 hours of a great rescue but they won't adopt to me because I live in another state, even tho I am closer to them than parts of their own state. Silly.
I am getting 2 pet store ferrets BUT! Its bc the ones in a rescue place are in good condition but the ones in the pet store are in horible so i am rescuing them from the pet store if that make sense they are going to the vet as soon as i have the chance so i hope that makes any sense

I won’t end up being cage free but they get free roam most of the time (I don’t have ferrets but that’s what I would do)
I can only get my ferrets from a pet store bc Florida doesn’t have breeders for ferrets
so, i plan on getting a ferret in a year or 2 (once i’m 13 or 14) i go to school 7 am - 2 pm (i get home at 2: 25), do you think having them caged for those few hours and having them free roam the rest of the day, would work or would they be caged too long?
