The singer is like the problem child of Jim Morrison and David Coverdale. Stomping anthemic rocker that should have been bigger. The whole album is brilliant.
I had the album, and although I liked their melodic songwriting style. The lyrics weren't very original, and the band lacked the grit, the killer edge and glam image that GnR had with Appetite For Destruction, which Thin Lizzy and Hanoi Rocks inspired // Whether the album does great commercially is irrelevant. As an artist, all that counts is that you've made the album and that the songs are truthful, powerfully moving, expressing your soulful, passionate nature // Axl Rose had the physique, the androgynous image, not a contrived image for mass appeal, and dynamic, nuanced vocal range, raw, sleazy
This band is so so underrated from the late 08s . And guitar riff so so killer and guitar solos is so underrated and very well written for that area !🤘🏻🎸🎸
Finally remembered these guys, first saw them on an ancient and falling apart VHS that my grampa recorded of headbanger's ball. If I remember correctly the footage claimed it was December of 89. Tapes long dead though.
Richard Black took a lot of dance classes and yoga. It is the saddest story to come out of those days. Someone else watched hours and hours and hours of Richard performing, so they could copy him. (Spin would say that the “Imposter” was “influenced by Richard Blacks unique moves. When you copy every move someone else is known for, that goes so far past influence). Sadly the guys were locked in to a bad record company deal, at this critical time they couldn’t release anything. While the “Imposter” went on to have one of the most successful careers in Rock, stealing someone else’s signature moves. Then when Shark Island could release this song and started touring, Richard could no longer perform as one of the best frontmen ever, because everyone believed that Richard was copying the “Imposter”. The “Imposter” admitted it in his book, he was supposed to pay Richard $50,000. Of course he never paid a cent. Without those moves, the “Impostor” would never have a career in the stratosphere. It is such a travesty.
