Seeing this sweet young man react this way to Sinatra made me cry. I played all this music when my kids were little. As my daughter got older, she got into rap which is what her peers also liked. A couple years ago, we were shopping for her wedding, and she put on her playlist in her car. It was all Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett. Mama was so proud!

Many years ago I read an autobiography by Sammy Davis Jr. (I think it was published in 1965) and I recall reading a story of how Sinatra helped end the segregation of performers in Las Vegas about 5 years before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I'm going by memory so please forgive me if I don't have all of the details. I think it was in 1959 Davis was performing at a hotel and Sinatra was supposed to begin appearing there after Davis had been there for a few weeks. Sinatra discovered that even though Davis was performing there, the hotel would not allow him to stay there because of his race. Sinatra went to the manager and said "If he doesn't stay here, I don't sing here." With that one line Sinatra ended the color barrier at least among the performers. If Sinatra didn't like you it was best to keep out of his way but if he liked you, you'd never find a better friend.

@orphan 200 That might be true but it is also true Sinatra broke with the Kennedy's and eventually would support President Reagan by 1980. Teddy ran against President Carter in the DNC Primaries that year but Frank had long ago broke with the Kennedy's. I am not sure he even supported Robert in 1968 given Robert was JFK's AG and #1 Presidential advisor as well.

Young man, appreciate your showing respect to Mr. Sinatra. He was the last of the class acts, people you wore a suit or dress to see. A different time. A time when special occasions, like Christmas, church or big events, meant you dressed to show respect to the moment. I didn't understand when I was younger; but, I get it now.

I love ❤ what you do connecting young people to all types of music including the classics like Frank Sinatra. One of the movies to check out is "From Here to Eternity" that got the Best Picture Oscar for 1953. Sinatra portrayed army Private Maggio. He received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this non-singing role. The musical "Pal Joey" is another of my favorites. I am 76, African American, and grew up listening to Frank. My aunt who raised me and introduced me to all the great music was born in 1914 one year older than Frank. Women in my family loved "The Voice." He was definitely gangsta. 😅

Paul Anka wrote the words for Sinatra. Singers have their "signature" song, but I've never seen a song written for someone like this and be such a personal anthem/theme song/and such a dramatic and slightly cleaned up way to tell the world to "screw you"

It's à French song. The song My Way is the English adaptation of the song As usual, composed by Jacques Revaux, Claude François and Gilles Thibaut, and originally performed, in 1967, by Claude François [1]. Adapted by Paul Anka, this version was popularized by Frank Sinatra's interpretation from 1969.

Just a trivia note about the song. The melody was written by a French singer with different French lyrics. Paul Anka wrote the English lyrics. I watched a 1965 Tonight show episode with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. They wore tuxedos (yes, you have to have the suit) and goofed round for about 20 minutes. Then, Frank Sinatra sang "Angel Eyes" and his mood completely changed. He pulled me right into the song. Keep up the good work. I will be back for more.

My Dads favorite song! I grew up listening to Sinatra, he sung at our local drive in, in Jersey, where we both are from. GREAT job listening to these Classics!!!!!

They played this for my pap at his funeral, man ran away from home at 14, eventually was part of a biker gang, left that and became a pipe fitter, later a welder. Married 4 times, my grandmother ended up finally tying him down, he later retired, got bored and got another job. Worked there another 20 years man taught me more than my father ever did and respected me more than anyone. I was given his chain, I wish that I live up to his legacy

You two might make the elderly listen to current music and give it some recognition. Brilliant!

So many great songs by this guy. But my favorite, after all these years, remains "Summer Wind", although his versions of "Indian Summer", "The Way You Look Tonight", and "Fly Me To The Moon" are classics as well. Again, Frank was always the coolest guy in the room.

If I put on his music, he's still the coolest guy in the room. I got nothing on him even though he's been gone for 21 years😂

Sinatra's magnum opus. Still sends a shiver down my spine. I am so happy he is being re-discovered by the young.

Class, young man, total class. To give Frank his due is so unusual for a young black man. You appreciate talent whether it is in your wheelhouse or your grandpa’s.

I have always loved this song...but it makes me cry now. My grandmother insisted we play this at her funeral, and it was so HER.

Thank you for playing this, it was one of my dad’s favorite Sinatra hits. Also perfect waring the suit looks sharp. I assume you know he arranged the orchestrations he was meticulous. Fun facts my dad’s name was Frank so I used to call him, The Chairmen of our families Board, since Frank Sinatra was called The Chairman of the Board. RIP Frank

BEST MALE VOCALIST EVER ! NO ONE EVER MASTERED PHRASING IN A SONG THE WAY FRANK SINATRA DID. HE "WAS" THE VOICE. THIS SONG WAS PLAYED AT MY BEST FRIENDS MEMORIAL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. THERE WASN'T A DRY EYE AT THE SERVICE.

‘My Way’ is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux.
Frank took it up a few notches.

A classic. Paul Anka wrote the lyrics which suited Sinatra perfectly. Now try Anka singing The Times of Your Life.
