That sounds almost identical to "peidei" in Portuguese, which means "I have farted." Now you can imagine the audiences bursting into laughter with a man happily shouting "I have farted! I excused my self to use the men’s room at the bar we were at. This song was playing over the sound system (different than what was in the bar). To this day I’m convinced my dad was there with me. I can’t hear this song now without thinking of that memory and crying.

If you see concert film of him, he will make a quick movement of his wrist to turn the mic away from his mouth as he inhales so you never hear that breath. Huge talent but decades of sheer hard work.

So you would get many different artists singing their own versions of these standards. Under my skin is a good example - you'll find many versions.
