  • This video answers the question, what do you do with the old wiring?!? Every video I’d seen was saying that “It’s sooo simple! Just run a wire from the lug on the alternator to the battery or the starter solenoid.” Well, if you’re “upgrading” then where’s the steps of the conversion process? Look no further. I did some digging and am providing you with the quick and dirty information that you need. I’ll be cleaning up my wiring from this point, but this will get you back on the road.
    In the video, 1982 F-250 with 5.8L. Tuff-Stuff 140 Amp alternator.

I have 1980 bullnose My fused link was in a loop of wire with The alternator field wire and charge cable. I couldnt get power to the interior at first as I stood there at the fender, with these 3 wires left in my hands after hooking up all the right wires to the New alternator and inline fuse for the large red wire... So I was confused until I touched the positive side of the battery with one of the 3 wires That were left over after the install.. SO I TOUCHED THE BATTERY WITH THE OEM CHARGE WIRE THE INTERIOR LIT UP AND MY PARKS CAME ON . AND IT STARTED UP . BUT NO HEAD LIGHTS AT ALL... I was lost as to how am I not getting head lights.. but all other items work as the bronco sat there running with the Stuff Stuff alternator and regulator installed.. STILL LOST... I DID MAKE THE MISTAKE OF TOUCH THE OEM charge cable and the fused link that it's in the loop with to the same positive side of the battery on mistake and fried the OEM FUSED LINK . BUT WITH THE OEM CHARGE CABLE MOUNTED TO THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THE SOLENOID EVERY THING COMES ON ALL OF UH SUDDEN... EXCEPT HEAD LIGHTS... .ALL I DID WAS REPLACED THE OEM ALTERNATOR... I DONT HAVE JUNK WIRES EVERYTHING IS FACTORY...
