Wow,I made some Beef Broth the other night and tried it just now, wow,it turned out AMAZING,I added the following ingredients, a chicken carcasses, chicken back and necks, beef bones, one onion, 3 garlic gloves, chicken leg bones and a lot of chicken feet,a splash of apple cider vinegar, I believe that's everything,I just found out that you shouldn't use onion and garlic doing carnivore, not sure how big a No No that is, this is my first time making it and I can say it's 100 times better than store bought. It's more chicken than beef at this point, lol.
Amazing bone broth Larry... I have been making mine the same way, but rarely have the marrow bones, I just save all my bones of every kind as I do occasionally eat chicken and lamb as well as beef... I put all the kinds of bones together. I also do mine in a slow cooker. Usually, I pressure can the bone broths in Mason jars for storage. I also made turkey bone broth and duck bone broth when I have roasted whole birds.
I had been saving lamb chop bones since me and hubby really love lamb. He would tease me about my bag of bones in the freezer. I made lamb bone broth yesterday in my crock pot but added some pepper and onion and some other stuff I had on hand. It was my first attempt at making bone broth. He tasted it today and almost fell over in delight. He said he’d never tease me about my bag of bones in the freezer again. I’ll be making beef broth this weekend. Just delicious.
That's so cool. I never thought about using lamb bones!! Hope you subscribe Tiffi and join the quest!!
I just made this for the current bbbe challenge going on and I have to tell you that this combined with Cassies chuck roast have changed my life. I have not yet hit the wall and I give credi to those recipes. SO GOOD! Thank you Larry and Cassie, for taking such good care of us!
So glad to hear you're going strong Vi'let!! We haven't hit the wall yet either!!😁🙏
I wouldn’t mind the long cooking process because of the wonderful bone broth aroma filling my kitchen! Glad your bone broth turned out so great!
It was not a pleasant aroma on my opinion. I have larry cook it in the garage from now on.
So glad I watched...I'm collecting steak bones in my freezer, too, and have never made bone broth. I'm glad you showed me what other bones to buy although I don't know yet where to get them. Looking forward to trying exactly what you did!!!! Thank you!!!!
Awesome video !!! Thanks for making! ❤️
You are so welcome!
Hmmm, been meaning to try making my own. That was so simple. Thank you.
NP Kevin...Definitely worth it.
This was perfect and just what I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad it helped you bro. I think I'm going to stick with this method. I've tried using the instpot because it's faster but I just can't get it to come out right!! Lol take care.
Awesome Simple Recipe! Thank you!
You bet!
Ty for sharing, and God bless you and Casey
Thank you Joy❤
Thanks for this Larry. I'm going to try make it like you do.
Hope you enjoy!! Let me know how it turns out!!👍
Helpful video. Thanks! Done chicken broth for years but ready to start with the beef.
Great! Have you tried Cassies chicken soup???🔥
Great video, thanks. I'm going to make this right now.
Good stuff Ted👍
thank you very much for the recipe! I got some grass fed grass finished bones with the marrow to make bone broth with for my husband. he's doing the lion diet due to his severe case of psoriasis, and we can't find any brand in the market that doesn't have added ingredients. I decided to make him bone broth at home so I have complete control over the ingredients. once again, thank you!
thank you man! this was exactly what i needed, all the other guides were way too over complicated
Right on! Let know how it turned out👍
Instead of taking fat off I just mix it in with each cup of broth I have. Makes it rich and delicious. Plus you get the extra fat in you're meal. Love you're channel guys. Keep up the awesome videos
Thank you! We have learned so much on this quest❤️
I had just eaten my beef ribs that I cooked in the Instantpot, and was definitely not disappointed. I was thinking that I had to find a beef bone broth recipe and your video came up. Thank you for making this video. Now I just have to have the patience to make it.
Isn't that one of life's greatest lessons...patience?
Awesome! Day 10 of carnivore and I wanted to add this to my diet. Just waiting for the crock pot to come to a boil. Thanks!
You got this!
@@CarnivoreQuest Day 12 carnivore. The bone broth is so delicious, but unfortunately confirmed that I do have a histamine intolerance. Steak and Eggs Girl on UA-cam had very similar symptoms and said after 3 years she has zero symptoms and can eat anything carnivore without a problem.
I'll be revisiting this recipe in 6 months to a year to retest my tolerance😂
Thank you. I just had my first chicken bone broth today after a 6 day water fast. Can't wait to make my OWN B.B.B.
Hope you enjoy!! Great Job Nicholas!!🔥
Thank you looks amazing
Hope you enjoy
This looks delicious! I just got an instant pot as well. I cook mine in there for three hours on the stew setting. Let the pressure release naturally, sometimes it takes a long time but if you manually release the pressure it makes a big mess. 👍
Sounds great!
Looks yummie. Thanks x
Awesome video! Smart pouring into a pan for cooling 👍
Oldie but goodie.🤣
Very good. Never made broth. Definitely something I’ll have to try.
Larry is the master at bone broth!
Thank you..gonna make soon..
Let me know how it turns put Deb!!👍
I have the same crock pot. Even though I bought a Ninja foodi few years ago I still have my crock pot. Yummy! Love the benefit of those beef bones
Bone broth, homemade is so good for you👍
Hello, are you happy with your crockpot, or would you recommend a different type, I'm looking to pretty much do just bone broth. Thanks
@@scottshortall9374 I actually get more use from my Ninja foodi pot then my crock pot. It only comes out during the holidays if I need another cooking vessel
Looks amazing brother!
Appreciate it!
I gotta try this!!!!
Let me know how ya like it!!🥰
If you have some precooked protein put it in a serving/meal sized bowl and add the broth directly to it. When it chills remove the tallow and you have an incredible meal. I will cook a steak or chicken breast take a spoonful or two over the hot protein and this melts right over it like a gelatin. Yummo!
I know this video is old, I work all weekend so plenty of time for slow cooker to work its magic thank you
You're welcome my friend 👍
The color of this broth is amazing
It's amazing Valeria!! Hope you try it❤️👊
Love it! Does this method get rid of the ?rubbery" taste? Having a big prob with that! Thanks! And thank you for this recipe!
You're welcome!!👊
That looks so good, Imma go fix me a cup. I add nutritional yeast to mine when I fix it to drink.
Good healthy stuff!
Oh damn, great idea!
I’m roasting the bones now, thank you for this recipe!
Hope you enjoy
It’s delicious!!
Cassie is a smart cookie! Sandra.

Going to try doing this...most likely manana thursday; it was cool stumbling upon a dude doing this since I kept finding femalle cooking videos only hahah
Very cool😎 👍
Thanks Larry!
You're welcome Ann😊 Thank you 👍
@@CarnivoreQuest I'm making my second batch today. This will replace my coffee for the September BBBE Challenge!
Thanks
Thank-you! I've never roasted the bones before. They are roasting right now. Can't wait to drink it and use the Tallow.
Very cool! Let us know how it all turned out
@@CarnivoreQuest - Thank-you, thank-you ! It turned out really good. Good Tallow and good gelatin. I am very pleased with it. The bone broth I made some years back never turned out this good. And your recipe is so much simpler. YaY!
Keep up the good work you and your wife on your weight loss and health.
Thank-you again.
God bless you and your wife!
I forgot to ask you about all the stuff you strain... Should we eat the fat and all?
Ww give that to the dogs but it would be fine to eat....it's just a nice treat for them🤣
@@CarnivoreQuest - ha. That's great. Good for them!
Look so so good !
I just did a bone broth on the stove and it turn out a creamy opaque white color :( I don't know why :( I have a crock pot now and will follow your recipe. I will try chicken too. I have questions :
Your crockpot is how much Quart capacity liquid please ?
You put at high for 3 hours and after at low for 45 hours or 48 hours ?
Which kind of salt ?
Have you buy the instant pot to make it in 2 hours ? If yes, which method you prefer ?
Thanks !
I'm going to try this
Good stuff❤️👊
I am definitely going to try this just so I can get the benefits of the bone broth and I'll have beef tallow awesome
Let me know how it turns out!
Wow just came here from your store bought broth video! Look great! Now do you cook with the tallow you have left over? Oooh I also agree with Cassie, I only heat my broth on the stove too.
😁❤️👊
Making your bone broth for the first time. It's been in the slow cooker since Thursday night. Can't wait to try it. I did have a slight accident with it earlier. I lifted up one of the bones to take a look at it and this big goop of goodness fell out into a bowl and into my mouth!!! OMG it was soooo good! Can't wait to get it into the fridge tomorrow morning.
FYI if you jar it hot and put lids on and then put them in lightly boiling water for 15 minutes it will seal and be shelf stable.
Very cool.
Thanks Frank👍
I don’t have a pressure canner 😢. It says you can also put them in gallon ziploc bags and freeze up to 6 months so may do this. I know now what to ask for my birthday😊
Thank you for the tips! I made a great bone broth after watching this. I used a 9x13 pan.
TIP: 6:00 After cutting around the outside with a butter knife, I used a large flat frypan spatula to be perfect for peeling off the tallow efficiently while keeping dry fingers.
Peace.
Thank you for showing how to do it! How long will it keep in the fridge?
About 5 days..7 max👍
The instapot is amazing! It really only takes about 3 hours to make bone broth with it..
I've tried making 3 batches using my new instapot Alice and I can't get it to come out right!! Lol I got discouraged cause the bones aren't cheap!!
@@CarnivoreQuest Oh no! Well, I have a very small instapot, (the smallest) and I do not do the chilling part as you do. Where you place the strained broth in the fridge and take the tallow off. I think if you have a system that works, then stick with that, for sure..
Still looking for the instant pot version.
I don't have a crock pot, and not that great a cook, so I needs some help!!! 😂
I just made a full mason jar of jello from my brisket I added no water to and a separate jar of tallow.
I've been making bone broth for years and I too did 48 hours on the stove top BUT with the InstaPot I do it in 8 hours. 2 hours probably works but I'm fixed on 8 hrs. The IP only goes for 4 so I run two cycles. I have thrown veggies in the broth, like the bottom of a celery stalk or the ends of carrots. Guess I won't do that if I go carnivore.
Larry loves making it in the crockpot. He tried instant pot a few times and the beef broth never set. The chicken turned out fine. If at first you dont succeed...
Hello, have you made bone broth in both the instant pot AND a slow cooker ? I have an instant pot and just made some bone broth but,I haven't tried it yet, do you recommend one or the other, I just want to do bone broth.
Thanks
@@scottshortall9374 I only use the instapot now. A Decade ago I used to simmer it for 2 days on the stove. IstaPot 4 to 8 hrs.
Nice cup of goodness
Chocked full of nutrients ❤️
Great way, thanks a lot. What you do with the fat on the top ? Can you cook with it ? Thanks again 👏🏻
That's tallow. You can clarify it and use it throughout the week to add flavor to other meals👍
Well you would think watching this video a person could do it haha, gonna try again, mine looks like water I messed up and put it in a roaster which I though was a slow cooker, and added way to much water , round 2 will be perfect
Which slow cooker would you recommend for a guy who wants to start making his own bone broth? Is there anything in particular that I should be looking out for when buying one? Thanks for the video by the way! It's very helpful.
Really any of them are fine! Maybe a larger 8qt👍
Looking forward to trying this👌
💜
I’m just curious to know?
Do you add any additional water ever?
Not everybody has a crockpot that may seal as tightly as yours. I’m just curious as to the 48 hour cook time if too much of my water would evaporate out?
I know we would want it concentrated but I know maximum yield is a priority too
First time I made bone broth, I made it in my instant pot. I didn't know what I was doing so I didn't pre-roast the bones and just dumped them into the IP with water. Needless to say, it foamed and bubbled out the escape hatch on the Instant Pot into a smelly mess on my counter. It's been several years, but I am attempting it again in my crock pot.
Crock pot will do it! I've tried the instapot too...no success 🤣
Looks delicious. Basically the same recipe as mine except I cook it for only 24 hours. Perhaps you should do a deep dive on the toxicity of aluminium. I wouldn't put it anywhere near any food I eat. Just use a plain old fashioned baking pan and use the foil to line the drip tray of your bbq. Or your garbage can.
Thanks for the tip!
How long is it good for? Do you freeze the extra?
You can reuse the bones to make another batch.
Yes!! Since making this video I figured that out!! lol Thanks for the comment LollyPop!!😀
is it okay to drink it with the fat? I don't mind plus I could use the fat for my diet.
You never mentioned what you do with the fat you take off the top. Bone broth is one thing I need to add to my diet. I’ve been carnivore three years, earring only meat and organs, but surprisingly I have yet to try bone broth. What if you were to drink a cup in the beginning before separating the fat? Have you ever tried that? Seems like bone broth with the fat mixed in would taste really good. By the way good luck losing 200 pounds. If you stick to the carnivore diet I would be willing to bet money you will achieve that goal. As I said I’ve been carnivore three years and I am never going back. I am 47 and I am leaner than I have ever been. I don’t think of how many calories I am putting down. I just eat.
I have saved the fat off the top before to use for cooking but I usually just throw it away. As far as drinking it...you can, and I have. It's just to much fat for me. Some people drink it...you'll have to see how you like it. Hope you subscribe and root us on!!
@@CarnivoreQuest
I love 💕 the fat on top 😅😅😅
Bless you from Germany 🇩🇪
I make this bone broth once a week, and save the tallow to cook with. I use tallow more than bacon grease now. I will try to add some to my broth to drink too
Why would you throw the fat away as a carnivore ? Seems not only wasteful but disrespectful to the animals who gave us their life.
This video is a year old we do toss anything. PS Larry used to drain ground beef then add butter🙄
What do you do with your tallow at the end? Does it get thrown away?
Use it for cooking👍
I was going to try it, but I thought it was more like soup w some meat in it. Can I just put mix of bones, some meat & maybe chicken broth in crockpot or will I not get the health benefits?
Sure, experiment Rosie!! Adding meat would be fine!!❤️
What brand of bones
Can you just throw the bones in raw without putting them in the oven first? Also I know you said you keep the fat from the top of the broth when its finished, just curious to know what you use it for? Thanks!
Yeah, you don't need to roast them first and you can use the fat for cooking👍
Oh I'm doing this! Do you ever mix bones.. chicken beef etc?
I never have. Pork just doesn't sound tasty....lol
Brandi, I mix my bones. I found some pork bones that have a ton of cartilage on them, but like Larry said the pork can be so strong that it's not tasty. So, I put a few of the pork bones in and I save my rotisserie chicken carcass and skin and freeze it until I have 2-3 and I cook those together. Also, Dr. Ken Berry said that if you want your bone broth to be calcium rich, add egg shells. I've been freezing those until I get ready to make bone broth and throw those in too.
@@cswhitwell I mix the bones but quit the pork bones because my dog drinks the bone broth and pork is no good for her.
Nuckle bones, I hear is best for collagen...I have yet to try....
I tried them once and they didn't do very well. I think next time I will break them with a hammer first. Seemed like there was no place for the collagen to come out. Thanks for the comment 😀
@@CarnivoreQuest Did you put a little acv in with them?
@@Oceangirl60 yeah, at 2:53 in the video I show how much....I call it,"just a splash" lol
Do you thaw the bones first or just stick them in the oven frozen?
I let em thaw but I don't think it would be a problem toput them in frozen.👍
I usually make beef bone broth the way you started out with the bones in the oven and then stove top for a couple of days and it's delicious! But it takes a lot of monitoring so I thought I'd try your way. It didn't turn out! It smells strange, hard to describe. Doesn't taste good. Do you have any ideas of what went wrong?
Has anyone else had this experience with crock pots?? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thank you!
I have only ever tried to make bone broth in the slow cooker and it has never turned out. I never considered it might be the slow cooker. But I live in an old, old trailer and wouldn't feel comfortable leaving something cooking on the stove for that long. Not to mention we only have one large burner so it would make other cooking hard. I guess I should try a pressure cooker instead?
How do use the tallow
Cooking!!😁
Mine didn’t gel up like that what did I do wrong
Your water to bone ratio is wrong. I've done that before. Add more bones or less water.👍
Do you have to put vinger in it
I always do. It's supposed to break up the bone marrow more and give you a richer, healthier bone broth. You can't taste it at all but I'm sure it would come out fine without vinegar. Let me know how it comes out!!👍
Larry, have you tried it in the instant pot?
I have....lol I couldn't get it to gel. I was successful with chicken but not beef.😁😢
Could u drink this during a fast or would that break the fast.
It would technically break a fast but a bone broth fast is healthy too👍
Does it splatter in the microwave? Or do you cover it 🤔
Lol if I dont cover it it will splatter a bit.
i made this for the first time i came out like yours. every other time since its come out like water. i dont get it
Keep trying
Yea. No extra microwaves
🤣💯
Is it ok to use Himalayan Pink Salt?
Sure is!
Why the apple cider?? I thought all fruits where not allowed in carnivore is it for taste or does it work like a preservative
Hi Ray! There are several versions of carnivore. Some people eat fruits and vegetables. True carnivore is animal products, but to each their own.
@@CarnivoreQuest iam a month in and lost 15kg, iam trying to make more broths i did one last night cooling it off today i will try tonight cooked for 3 hours then put on low for 6 hours. Flavor is much better👍
May, 2022\How much are you paying for approximately 4 lbs. of beef marrow bones?
Each one of those packages were 4-5 dollars Anne. I could probably find them I bit cheaper but I'd probably have to drive further and with the way gas prices are it would most likely be a wash in the end!!🤣❤️
@@CarnivoreQuest Thank you so much for answering my question, and so quickly, too! 😊
@@CarnivoreQuest yikes, I think you may be paying for the convenience of having them cut into smaller pieces. I've just today purchased 8lb from my butcher for £5.50 (less than $7) but I do have to stroke his ego to cut it down to fit in a slow cooker (crock pot) for me.
Stroke that ego!!!🤣🤣🤣👍
Wow! Here in CA, I pay $12 for each bag of grass fed, grass finished bones.
You can actually eat it as a jelly instead of heating it up.
That's a bit far. Lol just kidding. 🤣
We don’t have a microwave 😅😅😅✅
I dont think anyone should have one, but Larry would be lost without it🤣🤣
So why are we suppose to add apple cider vinegar?
It breaks down the bone marrow 👍
You can't taste it in the final broth💯
