    To EVERYONE complaining about this video. I'm a truck driver struggling to find simple cooking ideas to cook for myself while working over the road. Simple meals like this are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I can't pre-brown meats or dice dozens of ingredients. I can scale this meal down to serve one. So please be mindful that "your" way may not be the "best" way for everyone. ✌🏾

    The cool part of watching any of these recipe sites is that you get ideas to run with. They aren't things that are set in stone. Use ingredients you like; don't use the ones you don't like.
    Think positive and be kind. Use these sites as life-long learning opportunities.

  • @sherisse10
    @sherisse10 7 місяців тому +21

    Would have actually been tender and ‘shreddable’ had it been set on low and cooked longer. 6-8 hours Crockpots tend to cook better in low than high when wanting that really tender, shredded meat.
    When I do my roast in the crockpot I don’t add water either.. the meat creates its own juices which blend with the spices/mixes etc and gives plenty of moisture for the mushrooms to cook down.
    Just my opinion and experience.

    • @stevec6642
      @stevec6642 3 місяці тому +1

      @sherisse10 absolutely agree crockpots do best when cooking low and slow. I cook ribs low and slow for 10 hours, they are juicy and fall of the bone tender. I also never add water, instead I add nice merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine mixed with the natural juices from the meat takes it to the next level

    Needs to cook 6 hours on high, or on low 8 hours to fall apart.
    Brown and season the roast first to bring out more flavor.
    Only half the amount of those mushrooms.
    Cut the corn in half with a knife.
    That would be easier and won’t smash the corn.
    Wash the potatoes first and poke holes on them before adding to the crockpot.

    That was not tender at all. To be tender it should have been cooked another couple of hours or more on high, or about 4 more hours on low. To really get a LOT more flavor from your roast sear all sides of the roast in a hot fry pan before putting into your slow cooker. A huge Onion sliced thick adds lots of delicious flavor as do nice big chunks of carrots. For people that have to worry about sodium skip that salt laden gravy mix and opt for a no sodium beef bullion and no salt seasoning. We always add out uncut Potato the last couple of hours of cooking , lifting the roast so that the Potatoes can be put under the roast and are in the liquid. YUMMMY!!

Most of the time I laid cans of food on the manifold to heat them up. Sometimes I cooked hotdogs and even steak. The manifold cooks great! If you like flavor, brown the meat first, add some diced onions with the mushrooms and use beef broth instead of water. If you have bone broth do half beef, half bone. Add garlic & onion powder, black pepper at least. Don't add that parchment paper. You can buy a steamer, it turns itself off after cooking time and you can reheat when you get home. Or just steam veggies night before and reheat. Tip: cover top of crockpot with foil first, then lid to create more steam, tender meat, gravy and and less cooking time. 😊

    I sear the meat with salt and pepper. I add garlic, onions, carrots, celery and mushrooms to the pot. Further season with dry onion flakes, some granulated garlic and onion and maybe a little Italian seasoning. Tomatoes too if I’m in the mood for them. Set it on low and cook for 6 hours. Potatoes are washed, dried, slathered in evoo and seasoned with salt then popped in the oven. No corn because too many carbs. Perhaps a salad or roasted veggies.

    I love this recipe! Simple ingredients and putting the parchment paper on top with the vegetables, love! Then you don’t have the potatoes and corn swimming in juices all day. I tried a beef tip recipe that had all sorts of ingredients, gravy mix plus Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, and another mix, ranch packet maybe, beef broth. But it turned out so strong and just too much! I love that the gravy mix is the only added flavor. I’m definitely trying this! And we can always throw our desired spices on the corn and potatoes at the beginning or later. 👏

    I did this recently in my crock pot with a chuck roast.
    Seered it on all sides with expellor or cold pressed oil.
    I used pink salt,ground fresh pepper, onion and garlic powder.Organic bone broth for liquid or purified water is healthier unless a person has time to make their own veg or bone broths from scratch.
    I stay away from food grade sand and food grade wood pulp in these packets and store bought au jus.They are loaded with chemicals,natural flavouring,dyes,and
    preservatives

    You should only use one starch, potatoes are full of starch and so is corn. Also, no herbs or spices? No onions or garlic, both of which go great with beef. No green veggies, not even peppers, another thing that goes well with beef. Nice try, but in my humble opinion, you kind of missed the mark. I'm sure what you've made tastes good, but you left out all kinds of flavors. What's up with that?🤔
