To EVERYONE complaining about this video. I'm a truck driver struggling to find simple cooking ideas to cook for myself while working over the road. Simple meals like this are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I can't pre-brown meats or dice dozens of ingredients. I can scale this meal down to serve one. So please be mindful that "your" way may not be the "best" way for everyone. ✌🏾
If you like Mexican flavors, I have an easy , tasty slow cooker recipe. Put Chicken thighs (Boneless/ Skinless) in a crock pot with your favorite seasonings & a jar of salsa for 6 hours on Low. At the end, stir in Cream Cheese or Shredded Cheese. Delicious!! 😋👍🏻
If you use a Reynolds slow cooker bag, you don't gave to scrub the crockery pot. I start mine out on high for about an hour, then low for 6-7 hours to make it even more tender and the meat falls apart.
As a "lazy single man" crock pot liners are the best! Put it on low while I'm at work, come home and I got multiple meals with very little effort and clean up

Would have actually been tender and ‘shreddable’ had it been set on low and cooked longer. 6-8 hours Crockpots tend to cook better in low than high when wanting that really tender, shredded meat. When I do my roast in the crockpot I don’t add water either.. the meat creates its own juices which blend with the spices/mixes etc and gives plenty of moisture for the mushrooms to cook down. Just my opinion and experience.
@sherisse10 absolutely agree crockpots do best when cooking low and slow. I cook ribs low and slow for 10 hours, they are juicy and fall of the bone tender. I also never add water, instead I add nice merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine mixed with the natural juices from the meat takes it to the next level

Great base recipe for the crock pot. Lots of options to mix things up too. -onion soup mix - a little bit of wine -cream of mushroom soup -jar of baby onions -minced garlic -carrots -butter on the meat Love the add-ons with the potatoes and the corn. Clever Thanks for sharing.
As a working grandmother who works nine hours a day and raising my granddaughter, I’m always looking for good, square, easy prep meals, and this looks delicious!!
Needs to cook 6 hours on high, or on low 8 hours to fall apart. Brown and season the roast first to bring out more flavor. Only half the amount of those mushrooms. Cut the corn in half with a knife. That would be easier and won’t smash the corn. Wash the potatoes first and poke holes on them before adding to the crockpot. That would be easier.
Agree many things could be done differently. A packet of Lipton Beefy Onion soup rather than gravy mix AND a can of Campbell cream of mushroom soup. LASTLY, totally agree. I would cook this for 8 hrs to make it completely fork tender.
Instead of water, you could try beef broth to intensify the flavors and aroma. And as others have suggested, browning the meat prior to cooking in the crock pot can also add depth to the flavors and aroma.
I’ve made pot roast for years without browning. Put it in the pot, add a packet of Lipton onion soup mix and then some carrots and or potatoes and set it low and slow. Super tender. Browned and delicious.
@pamelasmith6221 nobody told you but I promise it's probably not that good. And I can tell you need to add seasoning just by your YT picture lol. No offense.

This was close to my dinner last night😊 We cut up the potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, lots of seasonings and the mushrooms. Wish I had thought about corn on the cob (next time). Thanks for sharing❤
Adding the parchment with the corn does look intriguing. But like you I do a lot of vegetables underneath the roast (have one going now) and my own sauce with spices. But I’d like to try the parchment and add corn also. I don’t know about others but I do an hour on high then the rest is low and slow! 👍🥰🇺🇸
I like how she said the meat shreds. Then, she could barely cut it😂 A roast that size needs more than 4 hours to fall apart. And the potatoes looked about 3/4 cooked. And where are the carrots 🥕 🤔 No seasonings for the meat. Just gravy. No salt and pepper on the potatoes. And you cut them. Must have been her first time doing this. Well, practice makes perfect.
I always loved mixing a can of cream of mushroom with a packet of french onion soup mix and putting that in with the roast. It smells and tastes soooo good, especially with some mashed potatoes and peas

I love this recipe! Simple ingredients and putting the parchment paper on top with the vegetables, love! Then you don’t have the potatoes and corn swimming in juices all day. I tried a beef tip recipe that had all sorts of ingredients, gravy mix plus Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, and another mix, ranch packet maybe, beef broth. But it turned out so strong and just too much! I love that the gravy mix is the only added flavor. I’m definitely trying this! And we can always throw our desired spices on the corn and potatoes at the beginning or later. 👏

That looks delicious! One can never go wrong with beef , mushrooms and gravy! This video made me so hungry i went to the store to get all these ingredients and just put them on the crockpot to eat when o get home from work cant wait!
Baby girl the only thing I would do differently is poke the potatoes with the fork before I put them in the pot. Just seems like it might be easier. Love You and your recipes. Keep them coming. I have used many of them. I have written them down in a folder and star ⭐ rate them from one to five. So far they all have three stars and up. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤
I use to wrap a hamburger pattie, cut potato ,diced bell peppers and seasoning in aluminum foil and put it on the engine manifold of the truck when I'm parked somewhere. Takes a couple of hours. Good stuff.
I find it interesting that a lot of people think cooking is a packet or two of this dumped in, a couple of tins of that dumped in. Loads of seasoning quite often very thick. Not everyone. I love Mary's nest and many others. I would worry about the additives and E numbers, amount of sugars, often with a different name. I love my crock pot also. Making bone broth in the crock pot makes excellent flavour. Can be used for stock/gravy or a base for soups. I would use tinned tomatoes but think only thing in that tin is tomatoes 😊
If you add flour to the juices, you will get a thicker proper gravy. Or coat the roast in flour and sear it before cooking. To each their own. That's the best thing about cooking.
Looks delicious (minus the mushrooms for me, lol)!! I love how you cooked your side dishes right along with the roast in the crockpot. I never would've thought to do that with the "baked" potatoes and corn. Well done!
With the left over you could warm some tortillas, heat them up in a tiny bit of oil, then fill them with the shredded roast, potatoes, and champignon. Or just heat the tortilla (heated flour tortilla would also be nice) and also another side would be with white steamed rice :) loved idea, thanks!
I like the idea of everything together .. I need carrots in there also, and that meat wasn’t ready, that meat needed another 2 hours so it could be spread apart easier
That was not tender at all. To be tender it should have been cooked another couple of hours or more on high, or about 4 more hours on low. To really get a LOT more flavor from your roast sear all sides of the roast in a hot fry pan before putting into your slow cooker. A huge Onion sliced thick adds lots of delicious flavor as do nice big chunks of carrots. For people that have to worry about sodium skip that salt laden gravy mix and opt for a no sodium beef bullion and no salt seasoning. We always add out uncut Potato the last couple of hours of cooking , lifting the roast so that the Potatoes can be put under the roast and are in the liquid. YUMMMY!!
All the extra comments about what to add is just perfect additions to Justine's staple! I liked the parchment paper, but similar to stew, I like the potatoes to soak up the flavoring of the meat --- they are less dry that way! Now the corn and some broccoli and some cauliflower on the parchment sounds good too! Keep them other comment/ideas coming!!

That looks delicious! One can never go wrong with beef , mushrooms and gravy! This video made me so hungry i went to the store to get all these ingredients and just put them on the crockpot to eat when o get home from work cant wait!
No onions 😮 Didn’t wash anything. 😮
Not even her hands.😅
I’m not opposed to quick meals there are many ppl that either don’t cook or just don’t have the time so whom ever finds this helpful good for them
brown the meat before putting into the pot
Baby girl the only thing I would do differently is poke the potatoes with the fork before I put them in the pot. Just seems like it might be easier. Love You and your recipes. Keep them coming. I have used many of them. I have written them down in a folder and star ⭐ rate them from one to five. So far they all have three stars and up. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤
She did poke the potatoes!
Gravy was like water 💧 😅
I usually take the juices and thicken with some cornstarch and water.
I use to wrap a hamburger pattie, cut potato ,diced bell peppers and seasoning in aluminum foil and put it on the engine manifold of the truck when I'm parked somewhere. Takes a couple of hours. Good stuff.
Low 6-8 hrs would have been much better. Also seasonings and veggies. To each their own.
Looks good but I like carrots too
Yummy 😋 thanks for sharing 👍 ❤❤❤
The potatoes were not washed?
What makes you think they weren't washed? They looked clean to me..
...and the mushrooms were not either.... *NASTY.* 😖
Such a hard work. Hubby would definitely appreciate it.
Put a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup in with the mushrooms and meat and gravy mix and you will get a thicker "gravy"
Why? I don't want thicker gravy.
@@quincicoates2490 I don't want thicker gravy either.
@@RealBigBadJohnthat wasn’t even gravy, it looked like brown river water 😝
If you add flour to the juices, you will get a thicker proper gravy. Or coat the roast in flour and sear it before cooking. To each their own. That's the best thing about cooking.
Does the gravy turn out xtra salty?
Looks delicious! Very easy, I will try it. Thanks for sharing and ignore negative people❤
Searing your meat first will improve flavor
You don’t need to. I’ve made pot roast in crock pot and it comes out great. Kitchen Bouquet helps too.
I made this this week and it was amazing! Never used brown gravy mix nor parchment paper. Roast was falling apart in 7 hours.
Did u cook on high or low
@andreaharris4683 cooked it on high and it fell apart after 6 to 7 hours. Parchment paper does the trick.
What type of roast is best for this?
Chuck....IMHO
Easy and delicious 😋
A roast without carrots is a sin yall. But so is not cuttin up them taters and lettin em swim in the juices. Give it a try an u wont be sorry 👍
This is awesome 👍 thanks for posting.
I like the idea of everything together .. I need carrots in there also, and that meat wasn’t ready, that meat needed another 2 hours so it could be spread apart easier
Great idea for a family. You can always add onions, carrots if you want and add any extra spices. But great idea!!!
Thanks for the suggestions!
YUMMMY!!
Looks delicious. I can't wait to try this.
Oh God Justin looks very good. I bet you Justin taste delicious. I know how to cook. I never told Debora every Portuguese person. He knows how to cook very good you make Justin so easy. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for taking the time. Sorry people feel the need to be negative.
Have a wonderful day
Thank you. I never would have thought to separate the meat from the veggies with parchment paper. Great job.
Pioneer gravy makes twice as much and tastes much better.
Yep!! Their white gravy is the bomb too!!
