I just think its sick how when children are in harm the police choose to do nothing, but the moment they hear he has been importing drugs. they’re all over that shit.
I've heard UK police in particular are unfortunately quite bad about investigating child sex abuse. Apparently there were large grooming rings in several cities that the police failed to stop for a long time for some screwed-up reason.
Well a lot of cops nowadays are more likely to be a Pedo than other jobs because some figured they'll be able to get away with it since they are the law.
Government protects pedos, because a lot of law enforcers are chomos themselves!
Its all about the money. Cops make basically no money off of sexual assault cases. They do however make tons off drug arrests. When first notified the cops probably didnt think it was worth looking into especially because rhey benefit from the money that Ian brought the town by being famous.
Both are equally as bad. I would have those guilty of either exterminated.
Best news ever finding out he got taken hostage for 6 hours by fellow inmates where he was tortured and stabbed multiple times.Its just tragic he survived.
Nah it's good he survived because he will always be in fear and it will likely happen again.

Well before his assault, he’d once mentioned being fearful of his life because he’s in prison with "the worst of the worst" This dumb@ss doesn’t get the irony of his statement considering the HE is the worst of the worst. I used to work in the department of corrections and can tell you the fear, hopelessness, and all around misery the baby killers and diddlers experience daily because they know they have such a huge target on their back is a MUCH more fitting punishment than death. One inmate of mine was actually convicted of capital sexual battery on a minor. If you don’t know, to qualify for capital assault it has to be particularly egregious and horrendous because it’s the only crime other than murder that can result in capital punishment, aka execution. There are many criteria the person has to meet to qualify for this charge. It’s not just freely handed out. If you get that charge I guarantee Satan doesn’t want you down in Hell. He can’t have you down there showing him up. Getting an actual conviction for the charge instead of it eventually being dropped down to something else is very rare. Getting the death penalty or life without parole for it is even rarer. Courts and judges won’t hesitate to slap a felon with a life sentence for having too much weed, but we all know justice and sentencing for sex crimes are just abysmal at best. Anyway, the inmate had a clean criminal record up until he was caught for what he’d done to his 6 year old child, but that particular attack on her was so bad that he received lethal injection but it was commuted to life without parole on appeal. He wasn’t in prison for very long when his crimes became common knowledge amongst the other inmates. He was scared before, but what happened to him absolutely destroyed him to a point he’d been on suicide watch starting on the day he returned from the hospital. Several inmates basically took him hostage in the shower room, paid off a couple guards, and attempted to rape him to death as punishment for what he did to his daughter. They almost succeeded but another inmate happened upon the scene when he ein in to clean and quickly and quietly informed the warden. The rape was so traumatic he became permanently bowel incontinent, his prostate so damaged he can’t ever have an erection or get off, and psychologically he became a shell of a person who cries most of the time and wants to die but the dept of corrections ensures that he will die of natural causes at a ripe old age. Trust me when I say that that daily misery is a punishment far worse than death and comes with a hefty dose of schadenfreude.

OMG. I've been a victim and this stays with you. As an infant and until I was 13. I want others like me to know that you have survived and you can take your power back from the predators. I'm 57 and it took until my late 30,s but you must find that speck of hope and God himself will design you from the brokenness

The fact that they not only dismissed her but also charged her when he was finally arrested is really disturbing. What kind of message does that deliver to anyone with information like the type she had
@@williamgrant8333 Honestly, that's pretty standard behaviour for the UK police these days. They care more about how they are perceived than actually doing their jobs. Make them look bad like she did? You'll likely get a dumbass knee jerk reaction where they try and pin things on you to cover up their incompetence/negligence/corruption.
Bear in mind, here in the UK we live in a country where the police turned a blind eye to the ra*e and enslavement of at minimum 200,000 children because they didn't want to be seen as racist. 11 year old girls were literally being picked up from police stations by their middle aged Islamic pimps, with the cops knowing full well that these girls had been forced into prostitution, and they chose to do nothing. For decades. Some MPs within the Labour party, the party ultimately responsible for this state of affairs, put the number as high as one million. This whole thing blew up a few years back when it came out that police, social services and politicians had all been aware of this and actively involved in covering it up. To date, none of those who turned a blind eye or helped cover it up have been prosecuted.
Meanwhile they do like arresting retired military veterans who write things the powers that be don't like on the internet. And journalists that suggest on Twitter that there are only two genders. Or a father trying to get them to rescue his 13 year old daughter being held and pimped out by a bunch of scumbags. (Yes, that really happened) But god forbid you're involved in something that makes it look like the police haven't been doing their jobs. Joanne is FAR from the last person over here to be persecuted by the cops for doing that.

I used to be a huge Lostprophets fan. Posters all over my walls, set their songs as my ring tones, knew the words to every single song. Now I can't even stomach to hear his voice and his face fills me with rage. No punishment is enough for this monster. He is pure evil in "human" form.
Usually I can separate the art from the artist but in this case, I just can't. I have no words.

This is one of the many cases which shows why I never idolize any famous person ever, and think its ridiculous when people do... You never know whats going on behind closed doors.
I never care about the artist, just care about what they create.

It's so insane how someone who was perceived to be so successful, talented, attractive etc, could be such a monster and have such a horrific dark side to him. Always found it hard to believe the rest of the band had no clue that this was happening. The fact his final act that got his acts out into public, was with a woman from my home town, really does hit me, this band was a huge part of my childhood and it's gutting this is what they have become.
The rest of the band probably knew and said nothing in order to not risk their careers - LP were hugely successful worldwide in the 00s ans probably made good money, so the show must go on. But they must have known something, especially when it was known that Ian was a difficult person to work with to say the least and that he was known to take drugs and have underage girls with him all the time.
The fact that MOTHERS who gave birth to those kids abused them because someone famous told them to....I'm literally sick to my stomach. I hope those kids got away ASAP.

Luke ( Luke Johnson) the drummer is a friend of mine and I remember the feeling when he was invited to join the band and the times he experienced touring and working with the band in the early times. It's a shame that all the members have to carry this burden for the rest of their lives.

I was looking for some old lost prophets songs on Spotify as I was feeling nostalgic for some of the trash I listened to in my teens but it was all gone. Went on a google search to find out why and got here.

I think it's because Scandinavian prisons actually treat their prisoners humanely and put actual effort into rehabilitation programs.

lostprophets were one of my most favorite bands growing up as a kid. in 2012 i got to see them live during Vans Warped Tour in West Palm Beach, FL where i live. after their show they had a meet and greet, where i got them to sign my warped tour pass and i met Ian and got to tell him how much their band influenced me as a teenager and how much i loved their music. he told me how happy he was to be a positive influence in my life and gave me a hug. exactly one week later, ian was arrested for paedophilia. the day he was arrested i threw away my autographed pass and never listened to their music again.
I'm so sorry. I'd never heard of them before Ian's arrest, it must've felt truly horrible.

It’s a case that is not often publicised, but in reality it needs to be spoken about to show what can happen when people in positions of power abuse them and also to highlight the failures of the Police when it could have been prevented much sooner.

I work with people who are former felons, and they always say the same thing: When they did illegal shit, they had no problem killing snitches, but they would never harm an innocent witness. Their consciences wouldn't allow it.
Basically, I want to make that distinction so people know tattle-tailing isn't a good thing, but telling your story and what you saw is extremely valuable if you were a victim or a passerby.

What’s mad is that I knew about this way before he got arrested and I gave the police a memory card with all kinds of explicit images on it but the police (South Yorkshire police) laughed in my face when I told them to look on it. They handed it back to Katie blagden (one of the women arrested) without looking at it. The police were protecting him because he was “famous”

Hearing these stories from Ian case to R Kelly case is quite terrifying knowing there’s men out there wanting to do this. 35 years is a huge sentence, but the ignorance that came with it but if it wasn’t for his drugs abuse he would’ve probably never been caught. It’s gonna be very concerning when he’s released as it ain’t life like it should be. The fact he has destroyed and permanently damaged these people but only gets 35 years for his actions.
I was a big Lost Prophets fan as a teen and even met the dude! I worked in child protection and sadly had to deal with countless child abuse victims but that sentencing report from his trial is the single most worst thing I have ever read! I can't put it into words!

The reports and court protocols are really more sickening and disturbing than any horror movie could ever be. If you're not 100% psychologically stable, avoid to read them at all costs, you'll really lose all faith in humanity. Hard to believe that the frontman of a seemingly harmless, mainstream-compatible teenie pop rock band could be more sick than any black metal musician ever was, but that's what fame, drugs and narcissism can do.

One of the saddest thing in this case is that the police didn't take the allegations seriously; especially when Ian's EX showed up and tried to get them to see the evidence she had on her phone and laptop. But sadly the cops didn't take her seriously because of her police report about her in the past, way before she started dating Ian.
In my opinion many victims would've been saved if those useless cops in the drama/case should've done their jobs right.

I was a huge Lostprophets fan in my teens and when I wanted to check out if they were still making music 10 years later I couldnt believe what happened with Watkins.. it was stomach turning and that the rest of the band practically worked for nothing their whole life. Could never listen to their music again and threw every record away

A true story to lighten the mood, I used to live in Cardiff and a few months before Watkins got arrested I was in a nightclub called Bogiez (which was the local rock club). Also in there was a guy called Magzy who played guitar for a few of the local hardcore bands. Watkins walks in and then out of no where a slightly inebriated Magzy lunges for and beats down Watkins. A few years later we joked/theorized that Magzy had a premonition of what Ian had done so got his shots in early.

I met the band in 2008 they seemed friendly everyday normal people , Then Ian entered the pub and they all went quiet . I didn't know why but there was definite tension between the band and Ian . I personally did not like him due to his mannerism of shoving himself into the conversation and talking over them . I never knew I had met one of the most evil predators .I wonder what the band knew but there was a distinct vibe of dislike by some of the group

I remember reading the court case documents from this years and years ago and it’s the only time in my life I can recall where I actually was so disturbed that I had to stop reading.

Some girl friends of mine when we were teenagers used to hang out with Ian in Newport town centre. At the time we said it was weird - they were 14 and 15. Why would an adult around 22 years of age hang out with underage girls? Well we found out didn't we?

I was a looked after child before being adopted. As an adult I recognise that as a young child I had an unhealthy interest in sexual activity… masturbation, acting out scenarios with my dolls, abnormal curiosity etc.
As an adult I’ve spoken to therapists about why I did this and they say I was likely sexually abused or had witnessed pornography or sexual activity as a young child.
Imagine being those children or that little boy, growing up and hearing what your mother did to you. It’s beyond anything I can vocalise. I hope he isn’t damaged permanently… I can only give my opinion on my own history and the consequences thereafter so I really hope he’s safe and protected now but it would be remiss of me to expect all children have happy ever afters. Mine has taken years of medication and therapy and the consequences have involved a lot of self hatred, self harm, suicide attempts, poor judgment and self-sabotaging choices.
He is the scum of the Earth, I hope he gets dealt with.
