Why Nike Air Jordans Are So Expensive | So Expensive

- Air Jordans retail and resell at higher prices than the average basketball sneaker. The high prices come from how the company makes and markets its iconic sneakers. The brand has a rich history, and its Air Jordan 1 is widely credited as the catalyst for sneaker-culture.

@Brian im a sneaker reseller, and people buy them because theyre rare and a status symbol, just like buying a car for the logo or a collectors item anything. Same goes for hype and designer clothes. People spend money on shoes because it makes them happy, and i dont see whats wrong with that. I wear $500 shoes and get a ton of compliments and thats what i like to do, so check your facts before you start making asumptions like this
@Brian whats the difference between clothes/shoes and collecting expensive cars or trading cards? People coplect stuff because it makes them happy and theres nothing wrong with that
Air jordan 1 :

- transport cost china -> usa/europe : 2$
- general cost (mostly marketing) : 10-20 $

They’re expensive because of the market. You have 90% of a shoe’s stock under the possession of resellers so everyone who wants a pair has to pay that mark up. But without the aftermarket, a sneaker wouldn’t be as much of a flex so it’s what keeps the hype going
I'm glad someone said it. The Fragment is a 180 dollar shoe period. Resellers and idiot's with expendable income drive that price up
@@AlexMkd1984 you forgot the c

I love how the myth of the Air Jordan 1 continues so that even Business Insider believes it. The NBA did not ban his shoe. They banned the black and red colorway because it violated their policy. After receiving a warning, Jordan wore AJ1s that were mostly white and did not violate the NBA policy. So no fine was paid because no rule was broken. He only wore the red and black shoes in two pre-season games and in the dunk contest and he was given a warning after those events, and never fined.
They banned the jordan airships
@@tristanbullock7547 They didn't ban either the Air Ship or the Air Jordan. The red and black colorway was against the rules. Michael wore white Air Ships for several weeks of the regular season until the Air Jordan was ready.
@Prince Wojak The rule was that shoesnhas to be predominantly white, which most read to mean more than 50 per cent white.
@Prince Wojak Yes. The NBA didn't want players just wearing anything they wanted. They felt they need to have a uniform look. So white with black or team colord as accents were allowed. So you would see a Boston player with white Converse with a green star. White was the league's preferred shoe color.
True. It was the colourway, not the shoe that was banned. But, the marketing was powerful.

An opinion/theory: these shoes are really nice but hella expensive, people who resell Jordan’s sell them for a bigger price than what they’re actually worth. The higher the demand the higher the price, and now it’s getting to a point where people aren’t buying the shoe for its authenticity or it’s looks but because it’s popular and in style not to mention people like buying really expensive things because they think it makes them socially excepted🙈

I have the air jordans 1 red and the quality is good and the shoe shows good quality after a long time. NBA didnt ban the black and red air jordans one, they meant it to be Michaels old air nike shoes which the colour looks exactly like it. Nike also mistook it and thought it was banned because the NBA never stated which model they were referring to. Thats also why the first air jordans one was black and red, to match micheal jordans old air nike black and red shoe and to also match the chicago bulls theme. Idk if thats true but i found it on another video.

Success is dependent on the action or steps you take to achieve it. Show me a man who doesn't have an investment and I will tell you how soon he'll go broke. Investment is building a safe haven for the future: with the right choice of investment that has at least 1% minimum risk and with an Expert guidance, profit and interest should be 💯 guaranteed.
I agree with you 💯... I had a senior colleague at work who was doing well but never had an investment. Unfortunately he lost his job and went from living a comfortable life to hardship. There would had been something to fall back on if he had an investment
Speaking of investing, crypto trading is the best business in the world right now with the ever raising amount of bitcoin. I know a couple of friends who makes a lot of money weekly trading the financial market.
For anyone building for posterity I think crypto is the next gold but the problem is scammers are everywhere. at this crucial time, telling anyone about crypto currency trading isn't financial advice by all factors. It is life advice
crypto trading is about the best investment with a life time guarantee at the moment that's doing incredibly well. Every sensible person should be able to take advantage of it and grow wealth, I invested in both stock and crypto but I believe crypto is doing better
Sadly most people don't invest in crypto due to ignorance and encouragement from those who had awkward experience, they get scared of investing because of high rate of scam in the business.

Buying basketball shoes to make a statement is beyond dumb. They're great shoes for basketball, wear them to play basketball. If you want a 'sporty' shoe to wear everyday, simply repurpose whatever shoe you use in your sports. I've always worn my fencing shoes once they get too beaten up on the strip. It'll be more comfortable than any new walking shoe you could buy and they're unique to you. Don't ape Jordan and Kanye. You have history and interests, embrace them.

It’s the hype, history, and the brand name. Jordans are a piece of history that everyone wants, especially the OG colourways that Jordan played in. When something is so wanted, price is bound to go up. When it’s limited, it’s bound to go up. It’s all about supply and demand. For me, I have a lot of shoes, and most are Jordans. I don’t really overpay, especially those high high prices. I but what I like and what I admire the history of.
I’ll tell you the reason: The hype, the logo. That’s it. Not quality. Not refinement. Not luxury. Skechers are more comfortable at a fraction of the price.

Just bought my first pair of AJ1s today. Awesome looking shoe in person.
Dammm!! People are so dumb, they buy for any BS reason. All of the reasons given in this video are just BS.
One of the main reasons for this shoe being this expensive is because Nike pays 130 Million$ every year to Micheal Jordon as royalty under this limited edition and keeping it expensive is the only way they can make profits.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
Most branded items shoes cost 30$ to make but the logo costs $1970.
