They are made from animal leather but pls know that, from its meat until its bone, fats..all those will be used in many productions. So, it's not only kill the animals and throw all their other parts. Theres a documentary about it.
Short answer: the reason they’re so expensive is because Hermes is brilliant at creating fake exclusivity. They’re value would plummet immediately if someone just stole a bunch of them and gave them away on the street. Anybody in the mood for a heist?
Yes but also, the craftsmanship necessary to create such a bag is astonishing. These artisans train for years, construct the entire bag upside down, turn it over, paint it, buff it, polish it. Like when you look at it up close, it really is magnificent. However are they worth 500k, I'm not sure lol
Yess let's do this. At first I was like "meh OK it's just another expensive bag", but when I heard that they artificially create the 'rarity' of the bag by not selling it outright (like all that bullshit with being lucky enough to get one offered or gifted) I was so furious. Let's steal all the bags, then burn down the factories and then just give the bags away on the street.
Considering they’re still dyeing over the true color of the albino alligator skin while making the bag, what was the point of using this super-rare animal in the first place?
@@victoria3011 super rare doesnt mean endangered. Albino isnt a specie of alligator, they are born with it. So killing one is the same as killing a normal alligator.
I used to design shoes for a luxury brand that were made by hand in Milan. I understand the manufacturing costs. I can confidently say that no bag is worth this kind of money. It is a huge scam that Hermes controls even more by keeping the bags "scarce" and only inviting you to have the privilege to buy their overpriced bags.
@@larryfoster8820 I don't know about their handbag ... but they also make saddles .. The saddle run about 5k per saddle , they are okay quality. I can buy the same calf skin saddle in Argentina for half the price. ... And finding USED Hermes Saddles , mostly out of California , because people are label whores. will sell a slightly used Hermes saddle for 1500 to 2k . So i can get a WHOLE saddle used for 2k but the Hermes bag cost 500,000 Yeah i will NOPE out of that. Also Hermes sells horse brushes , regular price 10.00 Hermes cost 225. it is just huge price gouging .
500k is resell not retail, there’s a big difference. That’s like thinking supreme makes a shirts that’s costs $1000. No. They cost $36 and resell is $1000.
Diamonds came to mind for me as well. I will never understand the hype of wanting "limited edition" or "exclusive" items. It's such an obvious marketing gimmick that it makes me not want to support company/buy the item.
Michael Lovely well said. Just because someone who is popular says that they like something or has something all the other people who want to be like them or out do them are quick to follow suit. The same thing happens with art. If I was given a Birkin bag I'd sell it in a flash & buy a whole new wardrobe or a new car or house or a new lung or spleen.
Though l agree with ur statement, l disagree with diamonds. Different leagues. Natural diamonds are natural made and are rare because they are created by the transformation of carbon under extreme pressure over hundreds of years. They’re not easily accessible and common- deserve to be expensive. The bags are are man made!
@@Pyxelles Diamonds are far more common than you believe. They are stockpiled by a cartel and released in a slow drip. Gold, for example, is actually rare.
They say that workers train for years to start making a Hermès bag, yet the people making counterfeited bags are hard to distinguish from the original just shows that the price mainly comes from the material and brand.
It is all about marketing and convincing fools to part with their money. Little intrinsic value, just about :status". Burkin bubble will burst eventually....
I actually lose respect for people who feel the urge to buy overpriced name brand items just to show off and make themselves feel better about themselves, because they cannot feel complete without them. To me it is a kind of insecure shallowness.
Regular high quality calf skin and non precious metal hardware for 300-500 dollars and then 80 hours for labour. How much that labour is depends but in france at the hermes workshop maybe $40 an hour. So its already around 3500 dollars and if you include logistics and marketing (not advertising because they dont need to) its maybe $4000. Lets say retail is around $12,000 their gross margin is 200%. Not too crazy for a high end luxury item. They really make the big bucks on the accessories and houseware you need to buy before you qualify for a birkin which probably has much higher margins. Flagship items for luxury brands are often not the big money makers but contribute to the overall prestige of the brand. Its the $500 made in china hermes branded slippers that will really get you.
makes no sense. high quality things are worth a lot. have you seen gucci bags ? high quality. i'm not so sure about hard work but design is everything. if something has a more simple design as opposed to something that isn't so simple, it's not going to cost as much as the one with the more intricate design.
So true. Goes for anything that is ‘exclusive’. People are willing to pay anything to be a part of that. Remember the flappy bird game? The original app got removed from the AppStore and only a few iPhones back then had them installed. Those iPhones were then sold on eBay for 5-10k because of how exclusive the game was. And it actually sold too. How dumb is the world. Really.

I bought a pair of 9 hole back in ‘93 for $75. They were the most comfortable shoes I ever owned (after break-in period of course) and I wore them for 15 years. Made me consider getting another pair, even though I have no need for them, because of those fond memories.

It’s technically an investment. Like he said on the video a lot of those bags are seen as more solid investments than gold. The value of them has increased 500% that’s an INCREDIBLE resale value. That’s why a lot of people don’t even use them they just lock them up. In ten to twenty years you could sell a 30,000 bag for more than 100k.
You wouldn’t. Because you don’t like handbags. There are people who are passionate about collecting items, and bags is one of them. It’s like a hobby for them. Nothing wrong with that.
The MOMCOCO neutral bag is so pretty!!! the smaller brown bag is so versatile. love the simple black bag. the curated bag is SO cute! the coach bag is pretty cute. the last bag is so cute for the beach. great collection !! ♡
If she does have a Birkin with her dog's poop it's probably worth even more cuz you know people will pay stupid amounts of $$$ cuz a celebrity owned it!
SP1TF1RE considering that it's a rare animal I highly doubt every bag made using albino alligator died of old age. Especially as they don't survive long in the wild. Every species of albino animal/ humans(in some counties) have been taken and sold for a large amount of money. A market creates demand for a rare item, you bet there will be illegal Poaching.
It’s not particularly likely they waited for the alligator to die of old age before they skinned it for a bag. Aside for supply meeting the demand at the scheduled time, animals are usually killed at a certain age when their skins or furs are considered the most optimal condition for it to be considered luxurious. For example, some items have soft calf skins as opposed to tougher adult cow skins. Some animals are killed young while their fur is soft because it gets coarser as the animal gets older.
the irony is expensive brands looks too basic lol like i cant see any "luxury" values in it. and some things with no brands could look so expensive but it's actually cheap.
twistr In general, most people don’t care what handbag you’re wearing. Nobody cares if it’s real or fake. It’s only a girl thing and boyfriends/husbands buying gifts.
Ragnhild The counterfeit industry goes beyond luxury handbags which includes cell phones and all electronics, car parts, food, clothes, and prescription medicine raking in 260 billion dollars. In addition, politicians who participate in collecting bribes from pharmaceutical and oil company executives rob the public people. Just my opinion, but it is difficult to point out who the bad guy is now today.

No one in their right mind would use the Himalayan as a purse unless it was a very carefully orchestrated flex. You're basically saying you have more respect for someone who collects framed magazine clippings than someone who collects fine art, because you think it's about the art and not about the investment. Basically, you're saying you have more respect for someone with no financial acumen than someone that invests wisely and diversifies their portfolio.

Dalia Serhal what the leather thong means, is that it should feel like real leather, because fake leather usually feels "plasticky", if you know what I mean.
I think because there are 2 main types of leather. One is made from the epidermis which is the top layer of skin, very strong but soft whereas cheap or “genuine leather” is made from the dermis which is very stretchy/wears down easily but can be coated with plastic to make it look more like the top layer/ the full grain/top grain leather.
@@lymf9157 as a leather craftsman, I can say that calf, ostrich, crocodile leathers are not even near exotic leathers. They are quiet cheap and available. Exotics are such as, stingray, eel, sharkskin, impala and so on. But calfskin and ostrich?🤣🤣 I think not

But you can do all those things! It is made from leather. Although it is rather hard to chew and probably doesn't contain much nutrition, it should still be possible to eat it. Cook it for three - four days and try! It can be used for healing purposes and be a true life saver if someone has been hyperventilating, you just tell them to breathe in and out of it. You can also keep warm with it, if you lit a fire and burn it. And it can save lives if you fill it with bricks and hit an assailant in the head. Or a zombie. Short answer: the reason they’re so expensive is because Hermes is brilliant at creating fake exclusivity. They’re value would plummet immediately if someone just stole a bunch of them and gave them away on the street. Anybody in the mood for a heist?
What is real exclusivity?
Amen. All you have to do to sell something to a fool is tell them nobody else has one, and/or nobody else can afford one.

And let’s not forget that they are handmade
@@muhammad5978 not the best argument... I can buy handmade jewelry at my local market for under $20.

Dalia Serhal what the leather thong means, is that it should feel like real leather, because fake leather usually feels "plasticky", if you know what I mean.
I think because there are 2 main types of leather. It s just to show off that they can afford what we cant and make themselves superior.. pure capitalism.. like if the product is really that good or if it s something technology related I understand.. but this is just a sham
Thank you for showcasing the unique features that set each bag apart, cicishops! It’s so informative.
I still didn't understand why birkins r so expensive
The name of the brand
It’s art. Supply and demand
Scarcity and perceived value.
Because big brands can put any price on it. Then they laugh their way to the bank.
Vanity
Do you know why Hermes bags are so expensive? Cause animal life is priceless
When stupidity meets wealth! These people are created.
When it is unaffordable, people will talk about it.
Sweetie stay pressed but it’s an investment and people make a living off it
@my poor heart ugh that doesn't justify the price
While people are homeless no one should ever have enough money to buy this bullshit. I agree with you
ToxicWaste OfSpace Do you mind moving to North Korea then?
His bbkbags tote is beautifully colored, very sturdy and the perfect size. Not too small, not too big. I look forward to joining my rotation.
That dude bought a purse for $500k for attention? Lmao I can think of a lot more way he could have spent that $500k to get a lot more attention. Nobody cares about a dude with a expensive purse
But you are talking about him right now, so...
Sue, what is your logic?
Women .
Especially young ones who likes rich dudes who owns expensive things
nobody cares? a million of his followers care
"Not Even Kim Kardasian Has This" but Kylie Jenner, jeffree star ,jamie chua has this bag so don't get too happy
But he said there’s only 2 of those ?
They all have Birkin bags but not the specific one he purchased.
He was talking about this particular bag
Jamie Chua owns 2 of those bag. Kylie owns 1 of it and Jeffree owns 1.
Did you not watch the video? He’s talking about the specific size of the handbag. Some sizes are rarer than others. Kylie Jenner et al have a different sized handbag to this guy.
I just love how they(basically stangers) just sat down together in a plane and just made bag designs. That's kind of a wholesome bag origin 😅
"not even Kim Kardashian has it"
Well.. Jeffree star has it lmao
So does Jamie so where did he get they him and Steve harvey’s wife have the only 2 🙄🤔
He was talking about that specific albino alligator version. Jeffree Star may own a Birkin bag, but not that specific one that costs so much, and neither does Kim K
Kim has one tho
@@graphiquejack I thought I saw one in her documentaries and vault tour
@@graphiquejack ua-cam.com/video/xUf2-sjGqQw/v-deo.html 35:15 I'm pretty sure it is the same. I meaaaan jeffree paid 125k on it
Honestly I find no special feature in this bag. And the fact that it is made of Crocodile, ostrich and calf skin makes it even more cruel to carry around as a sign of prosperity
Uhhhhh no it's not a sign of prosperity i think ur misinterpreting it as that simply bc the value & popularity of the bag
same desgn? hehe...
And disgusting too
The animals would be killed anyway so what
I’m sorry but these aren’t art 😂 as a matter of fact quite a basic design
Reece 20 basic doesn’t equal bad. sometimes the simplest designs are the most impactful. just look at a well tailored armani suit, or a visvim grizzly boot.
myles fang well obviously it’s good quality but for 6-500k? That will never be worth it ever lol
Supply and demand honey, that's how thing gets expensive 🤷♀️
Reece 20 your point was that it wasn’t art though. sure, monetarily it might be incredibly overpriced and hyped, but as a wearable art piece? it’s a beautiful, timeless design; however, it is subjective though, as a price tag often influences your mind’s perception of a subject.
@@reece2087 well I mean obviously wont be worth it if you cant afford it lol
I swear the happiness I feel when *yutulu* uploads a video is beyond!!!!
Do they realize that Jeffree star has so many of these bags
Right? That's what I said!
Including the himalaya
He is a trashy person.. not too classy for the Hermes brand
@@juonisback dare you to say that one more time 🙄🙄
He does have a lot of Birkins but currently Jamie Chua still holds that record. Have you seen her closet? She has a whole wall full of them, bigger than the one in his Vault
Why kill a rare species just for a bag.
Because people are selfish.
One answer HUMANS
It is not a rare species lol just rare mutation .
Because they want to
when the animal is used for something we don't need, it is just wasting the animal, but think about the Native Americans. it's all they could use, and they thank the animal and never wasted any bit of it, which was amazing. but when we invented plastic, we didn't need the animals for clothing. just for food. so, yes, using these animals for something we don't need, isn't very good. but, we should thank the animal for what we do need. keep in mind, if we are to kill an animal for our well being, then we should use the whole animal. (just know I'm reposting this)
