@@apostolis.diamantopoulos Agreed. But I still can't wrap my head around the acceleration score being "absolute" rather than "relative". There is a difference between the actual acceleration and the feel for it. Some cars just feel quick (because of engine noise, short gears or if the back suspension is very soft) but when you look at the speedometer you realized that it's not really fast. I think his acceleration score is purely based on actual numbers. The feel for it is in funfactor. But it only got a 6 there too. Thats not ok in my opinion. The acceleration score is fine.

However, the DougScore ranks cars in comparison to all cars, thus allowing him to find out which cars are the best overall. It’s the simplest way to score every variety of cars he reviews on the same system, but he can still give more specific commentary while driving.
Jonathan Bywater it feels like he ignores that sometimes though - with other really cool cars that people would obsess over at cars and coffee but no one on the road would notice, he gives it an average score. But for this he gave it an 8/10 for cool factor. In reality, 99% of people see this on the road and just think it’s another STI
Tyler The R35 is VERY overrated. You could get the new C8 Corvette for $60,000 instead and it will come with a warranty and a great interior. You can get a C7 Z06 and wipe the floor with ANY R35 GTR for around $60K as well. Or you could get a C6 ZR1 and for around $50K and it would destroy the R35 GTR around a track and in a drag race. All of them offer supercar performance and in the case of the C6 ZR1 and C7 Z06, they actually are supercars. Not just supercars, but they are actual drivers cars. It takes no skill to drive a GTR and with one of those Vettes, they will actually have to learn how to be a better driver to use their full potential
8:40 Doug, to add a bit more context to that carbon fiber strut brace. Since CF was so rare and the technology was so new, subaru had to source the CF strut brace from the Fuji aerospace division just to get them made. It's not stupid, that is just the company who made it.
Also, the aerospace industry makes carbon fiber tubes in huge quantities, so they've gotten the price down relatively low on simple tubes. Im not 100% that was the case in the 90s, but is absolutely the case now.

That's one of the few, very few items that Nissan provided. The headlight adjusting switch is also the same that could be found in many Z cars. Mostly just electric switches. Nothing too major

His scale is based on pure numbers which are published on his website. Each time correlates to a score which doesn't include class or price range
I don't think he factors in age of the car on purpose. Every modern car is an option someone can choose over this, so it doesn't make sense to give this a handicap when your scale includes modern cars.
Is this was a scale that only included 90s or older cars, then sure, he should scale it differently.
@@FIK3TriKs I had a look at his website and I now truly understand the DougScore. Actually acceleration is probably the only score he has standardized... The fun factor should have been more than 6, he really had a blast driving it. Cool factor should have been at least 9 also.
@@apostolis.diamantopoulos Agreed. But I still can't wrap my head around the acceleration score being "absolute" rather than "relative". Thats not a good rating for its era of cars
T Gal precisely. During his commentary while driving, he often talks about how the car compares to rivals in its class or from its time because that information is pertinent to buyers who are already looking for a car in that class.
That ratings system is so arbitrary...🙄 & ridiculous in many cases. He enjoyed this car more than some other "exotics".

The R35 is VERY overrated.
Because of that, and saying "who knows if it works" about the intercooler water spray, the video left a cringey taste on me. Doug really sounds like he doesn't know or care about cars

15:05 Fun Fact, all First- and Second Gen Subaru Imprezas use various Nissan-Parts throughout the vehicle.
For Example the power-window-switches are also sourced from Nissan.
That's one of the few, very few items that Nissan provided. The headlight adjusting switch is also the same that could be found in many Z cars. Mostly just electric switches. Nothing too major
That's just 90s-2000s Subaru in general. Nissan makes a lot of switches for other manufacturers as well.
They may have received parts from Nissan but I don’t think Nissan BUILT those parts from raw materials. Manufacturers often have suppliers from third parties who build parts for them like Bosch and 3M. I could be wrong in this case though

Followed by the Doug score for the couch.
On the weekend category... She's fun but I've had better times, so she gets a 6 out of 10.
You know he's happy when he sticks his tongue out lol
Like a big shaggy dog with his head out the window....someone(preferably a talented artist) needs to draw a charicature of Doug as a Dog in a car like that. 😂
Ohh that’s so Doug
LOL, I am noticing this as well.
))))))))
11:31 Doug gets so excited about the infotainment screen that he spits when he says "THINKS".
Now that's an interesting quirk and feature!
He also immediately talks about a water spray button afterwards which I found funny as well.
