Great vid. The 22b is absolutely my dream car. The TME is sweet too. If I came into alot of money, the first two cars I'd buy would be a 22b and a 2004-05 NSX.
The Evo VI TME is my dream car. I don't ever want to buy a modern car because of all the comfort and electronics. Give me raw, unfiltered driving. There will never be cars like these again.
Great review. Absolutely loved my 2010 Evo X GSR. Sadly ruined by a truck with poor brakes. Really like my 2016 STI. Great cars, both a blast to drive. Nothing else like them really.
Say what you'll about e gentleman's agreement, but the horse power cap actually make them innovative in tons of different ways to make their cars, faster, handle better and saw through the biggest technological achievement in decades
Absolutely true... the Evo... In particular the Makinen Edition saw as much as 220-230 kw... which makes sense as the times these cars were pulling "standard" just wasn't right with the power to weight ratio... Hell, my stock Makinen pulled a 12.4 quarter mile at 3000km old...about 114-116mph..iirc,. the readout has long since faded to unreadable... sadly..
I was always an Impreza man myself having owned both a Uk Turbo 2000 and then a P1. Watching through videos like this though is rekindling my love for these 90s cars. Perhaps a Scooby and an Evo would sit nice together in the future. Now I just need to wait to sort the funds, hmmm
Im loving your videos! Very knowledgeable and buckets of research! Very good filming and editing! Getting a chris harris vibe! Also I'm not an evo geek, some fancy explaining the black doorhandles to me?
I was not lucky enough to own a 22B or even a Impreza Turbo 2000, but I did own and modify a 2000 Impreza Sport 8 years ago and I had the best fun in that car and the community was great. I have since has two fast Volvos -(S60R), and now in a mk5 GTi and I can honestly has they do not offer the excitement as an impreza does. Great video Torque GT. FYI, 22B is Hexadecimal for 555.
I prefer the Tommi, looks better and more sophisticated drive train. People would not look at the 22B unless they knew what it was. The TME just looks so special.
Great movie, which one would you take home if both were say £30k a piece? Having driven more normal Imprezas and Evo's there really is only one that is consistently more focussed/fun.
I used to have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI TME, Passion Red exactly identical to this one. I sold it, and replaced with the Ford Focus RS MK3. I love the RS. It is amazing, but, I kind of miss my Evo.
This is an awesome work ! Dayummm. Torque GT next do a video of an AE86 Trueno ! ..One more thing the soundtrack you're producing is awesome. If you dont mind to sell the songs on iTunes or Bandcamp. Thank you.
What are the songs, the intro around :40 is sweet! And I have good taste, it sounds like an experienced production, a legit full length song that has been snipped, not something slapped together for an intro.. I am fully willing to be corrected!
Absolute epic "B" roads you're driving on mate... wow!!! Jealous much!!!!!! As a Australian (Scotia white) Makinen owner since new, yes... 17+ years I've owned one 23,800km later. And still completely standard too!!.. I Really enjoyed this Vid.. The 22B really is the Holy Grail of the WRX Impreza's, But we never got them here.. Real Shame that.. Beast of a car with the perfect body... Definitely would own one... if I had the $$... the best shape and best incarnation of the GC8 model...Perfect! But as far as Evo Lancers go... the Makinen Edition is still my absolute favourite...Driven nearly all.. (except the II and 7... and the Evo 9 Wagon of course lol) \ Nothing comes close to the way this car handles, talks to you whilst driving and the sheer fun these cars are to drive... Standard.. there's not a lot that'll keep up with them on normal roads...The status of collectible rally icons is true... these two cars are to salivate over... especially if they're completely standard!!! Nice work!!!
Because of the "stupid gentlemen's agreement" is that Japanese kept focusing in the driving experience unlike for example united States cars.. they are only about v8, big displacement and poor handling
mr oppai coming from a fellow American.. yeah it sucks for sure.. and plus, Those who own the V8 muscle cars only care about straight line racing and most of them are DBags and I mean BIG ones
@@jeffel80 respect where it's due, yes, maybe nowadays especially since the Japanese market is starting to get sorta lackluster tbh.. but if you get any muscle car pre 2013, it will not be a good handler stock or possibly modified because they are simply too big and have a harder time getting around corners and especially the hairpins that most older Japanese cars from the 90' and even the 00's can do with much more ease! I know I may seem biased, but my favorite company is Dodge and it always will be, (kinda a coincidence that Mitsubishi is also one of my favorite Japanese companies too) and my dream Muscle car is a 1968-1970 Dodge Charger... If not that then the 04-06 GTO would be my second pick.. I still do like Muscle cars, just the only reason I never buy is not only because they are generally more expensive even though they are more bang for buck for the power maybe, but also I just don't have as much a connection to them as I do with [V6]/I4 Japanese imports! Also, it's just cheaper and easier to use for every kind of road course or hairpins that most muscle cars just can't do.. Will say this though, I would buy a Muscle car before I buy any German car despite how good those can be too... I would not be caught dead in anything BMW especially!
@Gareth Johnstone but why wouldn't they want a power war? I mean, I get that they won't want it to get out of hand, but isn't that what you would want seeing the kinda of cars that came out because of it and the new tech and stuff that they can produce would have been mesmerizing! I'm genuinely curious my guy.. also, wasn't the 90's Big 6 (300ZX, 3000GT/GTO, Supra, Skyline, RX-7, NSX) also apart of this since they couldn't go over 276hp even though they all made well over 300 (despite the NSX and RX-7)

The issue was that few were actually capped. Supra's and R34 GTRs for example were well over 300bhp in standard form.
But agreed, it no doubt had an influence on innovation.
Absolutely true... the Evo... In particular the Makinen Edition saw as much as 220-230 kw... which makes sense as the times these cars were pulling "standard" just wasn't right with the power to weight ratio... Hell, my stock Makinen pulled a 12.4 quarter mile at 3000km old...about 114-116mph..iirc,. the readout has long since faded to unreadable... sadly..
@@steveblackbird the 22b should be as fast idk
Fantastic video guys. Big thumbs up from me.
Right now 2017 they're still fast in the mountains.
well let's race in the mountains! I live somewhere in Andalucia
Manual M3 Manual STI if you like tricky mountain style roads I would definitely recommend looking into a road trip through New Zealand.
Agree arthurs pass and Crown rangers
Peter Pacciani chill out ma dude respect other car enthusiasts
Amazing video , making my hangover very pleasant
22b any day a complete legend of a car plus you got to love the sound
great video guys loved every second !
Really enjoyed the video, great work!!! Subbed! 👍🏼👌🏼🍻
Damn I want that Evo. Both beautiful cars but there's something about the old Evos. Evo 4-6 are truly amazing
This Rivalry will be heard and Witnessed and Read even in centuries to come....so cool.....
the video production is amazing, keep up the good work
Great video! Keep up the good work. Would love to see a nismo r32 gtr.
I Love all cars.. it connects us all.. it's not just a hobby it's a lifestyle..
Your videos are so high quality and fun to watch! (just subscribed) Keep it up!
Congratulations for the vídeo. It`s very good. My favourite`s two all time WRC cars...!
Must be a new channel. Nice video quality, subbed.
Well done guys!
Great vid!
Good times indeed
god i would take the 22b in a heartbeat
I prefer the Tommi, looks better and more sophisticated drive train. People would not look at the 22B unless they knew what it was. The TME just looks so special.
gotta love the classic legendary Evo VI TME and STI 22B
The red and blue rivalry! Such nice machines!
This channel needs more subs
Great movie, which one would you take home if both were say £30k a piece? Having driven more normal Imprezas and Evo's there really is only one that is consistently more focussed/fun.
Tough question!
I guess we will neva know..
Dave Spooney 22b for me. Back in the day it would of been the evo.
That ending brings a tear to my eye
Nice video, makes me want an Mak Evo now!
Subbed! Great video and looking forward to more from you guys!
I used to have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI TME, Passion Red exactly identical to this one. I sold it, and replaced with the Ford Focus RS MK3. I love the RS. It is amazing, but, I kind of miss my Evo.
Great work guys, smashin' it as always!
Cracking video guys, maybe its time to get a TME :)
Both are JDM legends but the EVO!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
(except the II and 7... and the Evo 9 Wagon of course lol) \
Nothing comes close to the way this car handles, talks to you whilst driving and the sheer fun these cars are to drive... Standard.. there's not a lot that'll keep up with them on normal roads...The status of collectible rally icons is true... these two cars are to salivate over... especially if they're completely standard!!! Nice work!!!
Just discovered this great channel instant sub!
Because of the "stupid gentlemen's agreement" is that Japanese kept focusing in the driving experience unlike for example united States cars.. they are only about v8, big displacement and poor handling
mr oppai coming from a fellow American.. yeah it sucks for sure.. and plus, Those who own the V8 muscle cars only care about straight line racing and most of them are DBags and I mean BIG ones
mr oppai try owning a turbo Honda and beat one of em and you'll see why
Mhm, but you can't deny the fact that there are some awesome American cars that give tons of driving pleasure
Such examples:
Uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm genuinely curious my guy.. also, wasn't the 90's Big 6 (300ZX, 3000GT/GTO, Supra, Skyline, RX-7, NSX) also apart of this since they couldn't go over 276hp even though they all made well over 300 (despite the NSX and RX-7)
great vids mate , one thing that sticks out is that other mic is very muffled and bassy needs tining up alittle ;)
I love both of these!
I am going to buy a 1.6l Subaru Impreza soon.
Evo TME is such a gorgeous car
Reminds me of being a kid riding my go kart in the woods acting like Richard Burns and Sébastien Loeb haha good times
