And learned something new again. I have never seen closed bearings not to speak of how to install them.
What a surprise it was for me when I saw that you work at Smeding Performance! What can I say, I am fairly new to the channel 😂 Smeding Performance engines are THE real deal!
This is awesome, even down to every fine detail.. The best kind of video, showing everything.. Looking forward to the next one
Thank you!
Love the little stuff like prep/paint as much as cam install and degree etc
Fantastic video, being someone who has never built an engine before I need to see everything. That just gives me that much more confidence.
You got this!
I’m glad you didn’t cut anything out like engine painting and love that you showed the detail to line up the freeze plug stampings..
Nice build! Looking forward to the dyno session.
Same!! Hopefully soon
I can appreciate the painting process, 💪💯💯💯💯
My kinda stuff. Careful attention to detail that makes an expert engine build. Thanks!
Love this build. High horsepower and bulletproof!
Love the attention to detail. This is good stuff!. I wanna see everything buddy.
Thank you for your knowledge and videos, USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸
This engine build sounds closer to the project "spinal tap" by Holly and EFI University
Thanks.
7👍's up EG thank you for sharing 🎉😊
I'm sure thats a fantastic engine, hopefully going into a modern car, plastic bumper wind tunnel type, thats where they fit.
How does this guy have so much time to build these sweet motors?
I mean doesn't it take away from the time he spends playing football?
I just remember him from Varsity Blues and he seemed kinda committed.
I'm presuming the block doesn't need machine work to clear the Jesel belt drive You mentioned in a previous vid. Which if so, is nice. Their older models intended for SBC & BBC applications did.
Nothings perfect kid
Should have done Chevy Orange.
Little curious about the paint masking on the deck surfaces. Didn't use a head gasket for outline and painted over the outer head bolt holes. Using copper with receiver groove?
Can you not use roller cam bearings for street use?
What do you feel is the rpm limit of melling factory type oil pumps before needing dry sump
I would have to put the heads on the bare block and see how the chambers line up with the bores, I bet BES didn't leave a thing on the table
Good idea, you could also do the same thing with just using the head gaskets. Just make sure you have the dowel pins installed on the block. Put your head gasket on check it for alignment then, transfer the dowel pins to the cylinder heads and place the head gasket on them and check alignment again.
@@rickybobby0314 if the head gaskets are the same size as the bore, and they rarely are.
Does your wash system blow out the oil galleys, too, or is that done with air prior to assembly?
Please explain not using roller cam bearing due to street use. Great channel and keep up the work.
I’ve seen them walk out a little bit on higher mile street builds.
@@JacobVillemain thank you for the quick reply
@@JacobVillemainit would be cool to cut a grove on both sides of the cam bearings holes in the block so you could install snap rings to prevent that from happening.
Came here to ask the same question. Thanks for asking for me! 😄
Help me out where did install your oil pressure sensor at rear
Where is that cone on the drill from?
What's the part number for those cam bearings? I've never had to replace cam bearings in an LS before, but I hear all the time of people not aligning the bearings properly and wiping out the engine. That bearing design (which seems like how they should all be made) should eliminate any misalignment worries.
Seconded. I need these
Hey boss I have a technical question for you so no parts were available so I had to put an eagle ls1 crankshaft in to a 2017 youkon ls 6.0 I had the reluctor replaced at a shop
That had the tool any it will
Not run what I’m wondering is the crank gear did press on pretty hard onto the ls1 crank and I noticed that the new crank had 2 key ways instead of one and it take a different flywheel are the crank key ways in the same spot on both ls1 and ls4 cranks or is do they have different timing marks on the lower gear I used all the original timing parts on the 2017 except a ls1 crankshaft
Have you seen anyone using a torqstorm blower on a smeding built engine or do you have any experience with them?
No primer, or was the first coat a black primer and than a matte black paint?
Not sure if you mentioned it or not, but did you also get the raised cam version of the block ? that would be KILLER. Anything to help the RPM and added valvetrain stability.
I did not! My stroke is only 3.75” so there is lots of clearance between the rods and the camshaft, but I didn’t think about the valvetrain stability with a shorter pushrod 🤔…. Next time
@@JacobVillemain KILLER Combo regardless. I can't wait to see your Vette run the Mile.
What rattle can did you use to paint the engine, or what's a good brand of paint?
I like the Dupli-Color engine enamel paint
What paint was that ?
Dupli-Color Engine Enamel
If this thing doesn't wipe out the bearings long before getting anywhere near the power goals, I will be surprised.
Because of the power levels or the RPM he wants to do?
@@jamesdungan6198RPMs
I am surprised by the color choice, it will be difficult to see potential oil leaks on a black block.
Usual black….
Those blocks aren't made for that power level
Its a specially machined block for a high horsepower output, it'll handle it just fine.
This one is. It’s made out of CGI
