The Galactic admins look *way* more fitting in their current outfits imo. Them being dressed cleanly is a lot more appropriate for the "upstanding business" facade that Team Galactic hold up
Yeah, they look like a rock band or something like that with those designs, although maybe what Team Galactic was changed during development and therefore they also had to change the designs because of that.
i 100% agree. This guy i think has terrible opinions, he thinks that like eveey beta sprite is better even though they just objectively arent
While i do think that current team galactic outfits suit them more, I personally think that the Beta designs look cooler overall. It would be cool if they used them for some other characters someday.

That name is really great but it sounds maybe more like a second or final evolution.
Maybe something cuter like Bunnouy (kind of hard to pronounce cuz of the “buoy” part of the portmanteau. Laguamorph would be an awesome name for a final form as well.
That is more Blaziken level (Blaze and Hydro are concepts adjacent to Fire and Water and denote power, much like Scepter from Sceptile, but Torch and Tree are basic things and objects related to Fire and Grass). I would say something like Brookit, combining Brook (a small stream) and Kit (young rabbit) fits this first stage and also follows the two syllable rule of Mud/kip, Tree/cko, and Tor/chic. So we have Brookit, ?, and then Hydrabbit

Looks like the basic stage was planned to be called Warabbit in JP, according to that sheet.
The beta sharpedo here feels like the missing link between the beta sharks from gen1 and 2 to final sharpedo
Yeah, in case there was any doubt that said design was the one that ended up becoming Sharpedo. It's a shame they downgraded it so badly.
You can still see the leftover anchor elements from the spaceworld demo. It a shame honestly that could have been such a cool evolution line.
Actually, Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour are Pokémon whose designs are based on the Three Wise Monkeys: Pansage representing "speak no evil", Pansear representing "hear no evil", and Panpour representing "see no evil" and Japanese Delinquents. The designs of their evolved forms imply that the three Pokémon failed in their assigned Wise Monkey roles. Simisage is patterned after Yankiis, who are known to be foul-mouthed and rude. Simisear's design is based on a bosozoku, who make loud noise by removing the mufflers on their motorcycles. Simipour is modeled after a kogal, who value their appearance more than anything else. Simisage, Simisear, and Simipour each represent a different subset of them. Simisage has the yankii pompadour and foul temperament. Simisear is bosozoku, as shown by its fingerless glove markings on its hands, the collar of fur on its neck giving it the appearance of wearing a jacket, and its hands reach out to grab invisible handles bars as if it's on a motorcycle. And Simipour is all dolled up like a kogal would-be.
Why aren't they all part Dark type? Also I thought Simisear was shaking its hands to look more frail.
I they definitely could have executed those concepts better because aside from maybe Simisage they are all widely hated.

I think one of the reasons people didn't like the elemental monkey Pokémon was they all were so generic. Some size and shape difference might have gone a long way to change that impression

A lot of washing machines in Japan do resemble that Rotom design

Of all the move based evolutions, Lickitung was always the only one I couldn't understand. Like, why does it need Rollout of all moves? This beta design says it all.

if you look at the pose beta sharpedo makes, it mostly resembles a black version of that one unused shark from gen II's '97 beta (going of memory here so I might be off a little)
this might cement the link between it and the final sharpedo design

Some of us are really interested in what was in the leak about past games but don't want to be potentially spoiled about upcoming titles.

I love beta Pokémon designs. The Turban Shell (Slowbro Tail) is one of my favorite Pokémon ever. Beta Arceus is also a great design, even if it's not quite as intimidating as final Arceus.
And now beta Tornadus and Thunderus have joined my list of greatest non-existent Pokémon.
EDIT: 16:55 Woah! That's a Sandstorm form Castform. It never made sense to me that Castform didn't change for every weather type. It's cool to see it was planned at some point.

Fukin facts
We all know about the Blaziken and Latias fusion beta, bit seeing its sprite hits on a whole other level! Why take water-bunny?! So that’s what the Deino line looked liked before! Beta Emolga looks more like a regional variation of Pikachu.
BETA ZOROARK HAD A TAIL! And that green mouse! So cute! What was Gen V cooking with that? The white bird dragon was very cool!

4:55 looks like they could've reworked it into druddigon
Druddigon and Carracosta seem to have inherited some elements of this original design.
It's possible, but Druddigon's beta sprite was just not shaded from what I've seen. A post showed it along with Beta Reshiram and Zekrom
My personal takes:
- The dragon-like pokemon was most likely repurposed as Baxcalibur. You can see the details in both line up.
- Wash Rotom is a topload washing machine. That’s how some washing machines in Japan look like.
Call me crazy, but the rock dragon gives me Druddigon vibes. Even if the pokemon itself isn't revealed to be dragon type, it is very much so a dragon pokemon. Also the design is super spikey and edgy. But the thing that really hits me as Druddigon is the spikes behind the neck resembling Druddigon's head and the pose being a better-postured version of Druddigon in its official art and the gen 5 sprite. Could be wrong, but that's my guess (though it i much cooler than what we got, and I even actually like Druddigon)
There was a beta Druddigon sprite that lacked the shading of the final sprite which could mean this one was cut later

Honestly there are so many beta designs game freak could totally use some of them as regional variants or even paradox pokemon.
Business of its color scheme?? Liepards purple and yellow. How is that busy
Purple and yellow often go together, so I prefer the final design than the beta design that feels edgy.
Mars and Jupiter are much hotter with these outfits. They would be up there in the characters Pokémon fans have crushes on if they kept these outfits.

It felt like that was the universe telling me i was wrong, but then you went on to explain the Nuzleaf Tengu.
I feel like a lot of the "I like these better" ones is because it's something different, and new. For example, I thought Basculin looked cooler in its beta design. But after some thought, it's probably because Basculin's real design has been watered down so much by how not good it was as a Pokemon.
This was a great video and props to you for getting it out quickly when all this news dropped, but I feel like it would be better if you pulled up the final designs next to the betas when talking about them. Like you mention the galactic guys hair being different but I don't remember everybody's hairstyle. Idk, maybe it's a me issue but I would have liked that little refresher
4:30 Am I crazy or is that an early design of Groudon? The stance is the same. The brown color is congruent with Ground types. And the obligatory red accents for it to represent Pokemon Ruby.

With a less shaded Druddigon design popping up I feel it's less likely and I do just mean less shaded as it had the exact details outside of shading

I love the water bunny. The rock fossil dragon looks cool, and a polished design, but... what is it supposed to be/inspired by? The fossils usually draw from actual dinosaurs, and this looks like a bit of a mismatch, which is why I'm guessing it got scrapped.
I'm guessing it was either beta Druddigan or, a scrapped evo for Druddigan. If it was a scrapped evo, I wish they had kept it because sadly, Druddigan is definitely one of those pokemon who just collects dust in the pc.
From the silhouette I think it was the scrapped design of carracosta.

For the water starter Bunny, yeah, it obviously got turned into Scorbunny, however, i can also see it having heavily inspired Buneary here.
ngl, i prefer the beta Treecko over regular Treecko.
The gen 5 dino looking thing absolutley served as inspiration for Baxcalibur.
Looking at the Gen 3 beta mons, i can see some Pokemon in later gens that were supposed to come out in gen 3.
Lets look at the top row, the bear like creature. That 100% inspired Beartic, but not only Beartic, it also have Pink/Purple lines... so it might have served as inspiration for Mienfoo/Mienshao too.
Top row, the Snake - Snivy line.
Second Row, the Yeti... Abomasnow.
Second row - Hippopotas (Hippo), but i can also see some Snom in it as well.
Second row - 2 spaces apart from the Hippo - Beta Happiny perhaps?
Creature next to the cactus with the green hair > Mareanie line.
Interesting notice as well is that we have Simisear and Simipour there, but not Simisage... maybe they were supposed to be a duo at first before they came to the conclusion they could do a trio with them covering the starter triangle.
People speculating beta Rayquaza... nah... its probably supposed to be a beta Milotic.
My favorite design is the beta Lickylicki!

Not happy that this is how we get new Pokémon news. Not blaming you for anything Hoops. Just the hype over this leak I feel encourages hacking, which real people's lives have been negatively impacted by with the amount of sensitive information of individual employees that was released.
That being said, this is absolutely fascinating history of the development of Pokémon and the stories we love, that we would have probably never gotten to see.

I would say that the wind form castform is actually the sandstorm form, also because of the colour. Apparently they decided later to replace it.

Some of those Gen 5 sprites look like they were drawn in Paintbrush. Must have been really early placeholders.
Beatric was also going to make its debut in Hoenn which is crazy that they cut it out considering how little ice types the region has

That og simipour sprite despite being much more similar to its final design is also clearly restaurant/food theme. The belly fur looks like an apron and instead if waving he's posing his hand like he's holding up a tray. He's a waiter!
Also, that OG rotom wash was most likely just designed after a top loading washing machine instead of a front loading one. The hose and the plug definitely say still a washing machine, not a sink. I wonder if they also noticed the toilet similarity and thats what motivated them to change it.

I would say more like him than the other
I didn't expect HnH to cover the Teraleak on his channel. But I have to say that the concept art they did for the third generation reboot is interesting, especially the dog, early Cacturne and stone abomination. They apparently intended to take Pokemon in a more edgier and darker Monster Hynter style direction, but in the end decided to stick with their own Pokemon style. And perhaps the reason for copying the Monster Hunter style would have been that the Monster Hunter series was popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s and a competitor to Pokemon. But the leaked concept art can also be interpreted as mimicking the style of Digimon, another early competitor to Pokemon. But if Pokemon had been rebooted in that planned style, the series would look much different than it does today.
I always think about an alternate universe where the Pokémon we have are beta designs and these are the ones we have. Also some of these all look like JRPG random spawns. I know Pokémon takes inspiration from Dragon Quest and you can really see it here.
The water bunny would have been so perfect for the tubers. Honestly the tubers feel like they may have even been inspired by this bunny.

I think reason why the water bunny was cut was because bunnies usually don’t like being in the water and didn’t make much sense for a water starter.

We already have a Gen 3 leak that features only descriptions. We really need to compare with this new leak now.
Really cool to see that Giratina got it's design right from the start (it's my favorite Legendary ever), also Absol's original design looks interesting, but final design is indeed better (another huge favorite of mine). Overall these beta designs look cool, but the final ones are better. I'm very happy that we did NOT get the beta Cubchoo though, Cubchoo is already one of the lesser designs and that beta design doesn't do any good for it either.
Wow you can tell they started with cool designs and tried to make them as cute as possible by the time of release.
The rabbit-looking one under the Sharpedo looks like it's hopped its way all the way from Hoenn to Paldea in the form of the Pawmott line
So based on the betas, Scrafty, Togedemaru, Crustle, Snover (potentially abomasnow as well but was a yeti instead of a tree at the time), Mareanie & Ferroseed (potentially same evolutionary line due to placement proximity), Beartic, and Vespiquen all could have been gen 3 pokemon in a different universe, and Tapu Fini, Pecharunt, Polteageist, Clawf, Floette, Primarina, Phantump, and Malamar all had signs of being worked on but the similarities aren't enough to say for certain those pokemon were going to be them. Interesting. I think the pokemon I would have wanted to see get made the most are those flask fish. For some reason I really like em.
If they unscrap the Skibidi Rotom idea, they could possibly give it the poison type.
the Rotom is definitely a washing machine as it has the water hose and power cord, but as you pointed out it’s also far too much like a sink or toilet which explains the redesign into a front-loader instead of top-loader
