The original Ultra Ball had a H on it because its know as the Hyper Ball in Japan, When the games became popular overseas they removed the H to avoid confusion.
I was thinking the same thing. When he was saying "completely different" and "unrelated," I was like, dude, they look very similar. It's the same berry - they just changed it's effect/purpose.
I knew it! I’m not going mad. When I was a kid playing Gen 1, I thought it would be funny to throw a Pokeball at Mewtwo but was surprised that it missed. Then as time went on, I never heard of it again and thought I made it up 😂
That's the reason why I thought anything but master balls were completely useless on legendaries in gen 1 and they only made legendaries catchable with other balls from gen 2 onwards. During my first playthrough I tried a couple of balls on all legendaries but since they all said they missed I thought it would never work, that you were only supposed to catch one single legendary per game without cheating and never tried again.
very funny. my kindergarten rumor was, that if i throw a minimum of 50 ultra balls at a legendary it will be catchable after that. surprisingly IT WORKED! after around 50 missed balls they will start to not miss anymore.
I believe superfang worked on ghost types because it technically didn't do "damage" but instead set their current HP to 1/2. RBGY were made of duct tape and twine, a tradition that holds true for many things even today :)
I'm pretty sure those are both the same berry. They probably just realized it was weird to have an "open" one since none of the others feature a cross-section (I believe). Color was also updated, to further differentiate it from the other green ones?
@ The timestamp ; 13:39 , both Espurr and Meowstic have eyes under their ears, and on their forehead, because they are psychic type. All shows in the anime!
1:33 I remember trying to catch a Moltres on Yellow. Kept missing every throw. Swapped in Zapdos, caught it with the next throw. Made me wonder if what Pokémon I had out changed the catch rate.
7:11 Unused data? Awesome! Also, did you know that there is a Pokémon teraleak that happened yesterday revealing tons more unused data of the games and stuff?
Lapras-like? Looks more like Shadow Lugia to me. Makes me think they were originally considering making Shadow Lugia transferrable to the games, but scrapped it because they couldn't figure out how to do it without disrupting the battle system compatibility of the generation's games... Then again, XD did release about a year later. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking of a designer at Game Freak who happened to really like James Turner's design.
THAT'S what causes that ungrowable Cheri Berry?! Oh my god! I found that there and had no idea where it came from, but I never knew it was from that! And I trade between the main series Gen 3 games and Colo/XD kinda frequently, too.
The Ultra Ball(Hyper Ball in Japan, thus the yellow H) was simply inconsistent. The earliest depiction would technically be the TCG one from "Rocket's Sneak Attack", drawn by Ken Sugimori. This would also be the design in Pokemon Pinball(which had an S on the Great Ball, aka the Super Ball). Then you would get the Stadium 2 one which removed that extra letter. This is likely because of the fact that developing the games with localization in mind was now a priority. However the BIG H stayed until Ruby and Sapphire when they temporarily changed the design again, but apparently didn't like the result, switching it back.

One would argue that Espurr and it's evolutions don't just have "circles" under their ears, those "circles" of which you speak are actually psychic eyeballs! And that is where Espurr and it's evolutions get their power from. Very creepy, very weird. Imagine your psychic powers being so potent that your head had to grow a second set of eyeballs that just so happen to pop out of your ears just to cope with your supreme intelligence. They sacrifice their hearing for their psychic powers! I wonder if said eyeballs are retractable, as well as extendable? And could Espurr control such movements? It must be painful to be so smart, literally. Case en pointe, Alakazam. Poor thing. Being psychic type must really be painful in certain scenarios. It makes my brain hurt just thinking about it. Ouchie! 🤕😣🥺😔😭
@@danielstokes2127 we had to alter a save file to force them to have it to show it off for the video haha 😅 as I mentioned in the video, it’s a bit more limited in normal gameplay, so you can’t see as many of the crazier colors
About Arcanine, it's actually pretty easy to notice it's black belly. In the anime there have been multiple shots of Arcanine leaping or charging, so you could easily see it's black belly. The rest however are defiantly hard to notice though.
0:30 actually, it’s quite the opposite, I know the chilan berry from gen 4, but i didn’t know there was an e reader exclusive berry sharing the same name as the other one I know from gen 4 That’s pretty interesting
I was surprised to notice the Abilities' effects in the overworld when I was playing Sword and Shield. I also found out they were a thing since Emerald. They are so fun to use like the Pokémon you have can help you hunt in the wild.
Crystal was my first game and my friend did the Gen 1 Mew glitch to get me a Mew. I was OBSESSED with getting Mew and the shiny ditto I later found in game to transform into stuff to see how those pokemon looked with the different color palettes. It wasn’t until later i realized it worked with transform via metronome too and was ecstatic when my togepi became a togepi colored Ariados lol. I really wish it had been possible to look at their summary screens in battle during those games because I would’ve loved to get a proper look at those color changes.
Rattata and Raticate's case was a matter of consistency, both of them and Pikachu and Sandshrew's lines classifications are called "nezumi pokémon" in japanese, which can both mean rat or mouse. But the Rattata line was the only one translated as "rat".
Seems like in the Pokemon world "berry" just means "fruit", so some of em are gonna be huge I guess. Plus a watermelon is technically a berry, botanically speaking.
I thought the category thing was obvious, it's to tidy things up and lessen the amount of categories there are, Scizor changing to a pinsar Pokemon makes sense cause theres another type of Pokemon in that Category and no other Scizor type Pokemon, same with changing rat type to mouse.

I don't think the berries are different one, just one of them (G3) have a leaf off but the two are the same, based on the "Physalis" fruit
yup the yellow part is the leaf/shell of the fruit so one is just opened and the other is closed
