I love my 8 ft bed with a raised roof topper. Mine is old school 94 Dodge Ram 2500 and just got topper last week and fixing to start on mine. Thanks for your help and I'm 5ft 5 so I'm going to try your idea and I could do a lot more set up if it does and bed up in the front out of the way. Stay safe everybody and have great days!

I'm fairly certain we used to be able to go back behind the falls. I've made a few trips up to Pike's Peak. The last time I went, there was a huge black rat snake just chilling in a tree. I don't like snakes at all, but, I do take comfort in knowing that they take care of rodents and are non-venomous. I love that about Iowa.... very few things here that are deadly. 😁 I thought I was pretty familiar with our natural history, but I don't remember learning anything about "The driftless area" before your video. Thank you for the little lesson! McGregor is such a beautiful little river town. I had forgotten that they were hit by a tornado!! Great video, thanks for sharing!

I only have just over 19,000 miles on it. Yet they want almost 60,000 for a long bed, with double the mileage than my truck. Not worth it, I think I’m leaving towards the Moonlander or even a cargo Van 1 day.

Great idea turning your cot sideways. If that works for you. Unfortunately wouldn't work for me, I'm pretty short at 5 ft 8, and there's just no way I could sleep scrunched up on a short bed like that. I don't think many guys can.

    • @iels7346

If you dont sleep like a pencil, it'll be fine, idk how tall this guy is. But at 5'9" I can lay in the back seat of my f150 comfortably. With the slightest bend in the knee/hip (my normal sleeping position) I fit just fine. I can stretch my legs straight if I hang them off the bench just a bit. Even better, if I put the back seats up and lay on the floor diagonally, I can lay completely straight.

@@iels7346 I've slept in the back seat of my F-150 as well. I can only stay comfortable for a short time since I have to sleep with my legs bent. I typically sleep stretched out. His setup wouldn't work for me. I don't like anything touching my head or my feet when I'm trying to sleep. I guess I'm spoiled. LOL I will sleep in the bed of my truck though, with an air mattress. I also wonder if one of those tents that attaches to the vehicle like we had with our Chev Traverse would work with your topper? I'll bet it would.
You could leave the tailgate down in summer for more bed space to sleep in and have a bunch of room for storage of stuff in the regular tent set up. It was pretty sweet.
The traverse had a screen you could pull for the sunroof and it was pretty decent at keeping rain out for sprinkles but a down pour not so much. But we could open the sunroof for air with a screen.

We bought a Ram in 22 with the Cummins, but this one is a standard transmission and so far it hasn’t given us any problems.
This one was the Cab and chassis. We installed a flatbed from a worn out F350 that had almost 2 million miles, (2 engines), both Diesel’s.
The old Diesel from Ford were International Diesel’s. When Ford dropped the International Diesel and started making their own, they just didn’t last as long, so that’s why we switched to Dodge for our Heavy Duty Diesel Trucks.
When the Chevy Duramax Diesel first came out, they were horrible engines. A neighbor bought a couple of them and had a LOT of problems with them. He now has Rams as well.

If your 6 foot there's no way that truck would sleep anyone comfortably unless your topper was on top of the rails.

That's why in the video I said if your tall it probably won't work, but if your shorter, or don't mind sleeping with your legs bent then it does work.....

Oh man you lost me at wood bundles and food from the gas station and the power cord….should have just “roughed it” in your backyard

Thanks for the comment, unfortunately in wisconsin it's against the law to transport wood over 50 miles from where it was cut due to an invasive bug problem so that leaves few options for getting wood when your for from home. And not all my videos do I get gas station food. However there are many channels that rough it on all there vids that are great to watch. I don't go out to rough it, I go out for the adventure and exploring new areas.
