I just came here from your island camping video. UA-cam knows me too well..... recommends me Mav right after Steve. My two favorite camping channels on here 👌
I came to a realization that the best part about mav camping in his car is that it would be 1000% easier to go to restaurants but instead he cooks for us and himself and has a delicious home cooked meal every time. Camping, fishing, and cooking are my favorite thing so this is the perfect channel
This is one of my favorite channels on youtube they are so comforting and relaxing to get comfy in bed and watch him camp some of my favorite parts are when he cooks idkw but something about it is so peaceful
Mav, with all that cooking in the cab; you should consider a vent fan out. You could power it when needed with the Jackery and potentially could make for a more comfortable experience when cooking in terms of lowering the moisture build up.
Neither of you have ever worked in a kitchen I am assuming but all of them have vents to take out the moister and grease. A vent would be a very smart idea versus just opening a window. They also make maxair fans that open and close. they are meant for vans and won't get snagged on anything
Hey Mav, quick way to caramelize onions is to cook them on medium high heat until they loose their rigidity, then throw in a cup of water and drop the heat to medium low until the water is boiled off. At the end you have perfect caramelized onions in about 15 minutes. The art of Deglazing.
If youre in a place where you can access a microwave, throw the raw onions in for a couple of minutes on high.......then cook them in a pan on the stove with butter on low.....you can also pre cook them in the microwave before you go camping then just caramelize them off the rest of the way once youre ready to eat them.

I know I’m a month late to this comment but I came here to say the same thing. I wore contacts for close to 20 years and never had onions bother me at all! A year ago I had lasik done and now onions are unbearable for me to cut, they burn my eyes so bad!
The new truck setup definitely is 10 times better than the previous one! You can cook inside the truck and chill, and everything seems to be more accessible and easy to reach in this new setup. Also adding a portable TV is really cool! Also I just thought about it... The TV is so small and portable you could probably fit it in any current other camping vehicle you own. It can easily fit into Steve and I presume theres a way setting it up in the Beetle camper. I'm dying to see what you'll come up with the Humvee btw. Keep on the great work!
A quiet low voltage roof fan would be dope to put in the new setup. You can probably do it for pretty cheap and it wpuld be great for cooking/hotter days. Add some kind of a vent cover for when it's raining
As a Canadian, I believe Minnesota winters are too harsh to have that during the cold months…which is 6-8 months. So ends up not being worth it unless you spend big bucks on one with block off plates.
This has probably been said, but there are actual controllers for the switch too that you could get, man. Great stuff and I'm glad you're upgrading your truck experience!

mav that soup looks awesome, when I was training as a chef this was the first soup I learnt go cook, there's only one thing that you could improve on , more onions, mix the onion up with red and sweet. When caramelizing onions don't add salt in the beginning it makes it hard for the natural sugars to come out. Use a little pinch of sugar and a lid, the lid will cause the onions to steam so they won't char . use a veg speed peeler to get shavings with yourGruyere, it's a cheese that is hard go digest plus it will melt quicker . Living the channel
I also would like to say, caramelise the onions in the pot next time. you cooked them in the pan then transferred them to the pot and added the white wine. The wine is meant to deglaze and bring those flavours back into the dish.
@@buck1t1er I was thinking that too. He missed out on those extra flavors by not deglazing the pan he cooked them in! Sounds like it was still tasty though.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with different kind of setups and vehicule. It's a great deal of inspiration for my eventual built ! You're the guy ! Thanks Mav ! Ps. That's a freaking lot of thym dude 😳
It actually depends on the type of onion where sweet varieties of onions typically won't have that technical inside of them that causes that reaction cuz it's this one chemical reaction from you splitting the cells that creates a chemical compound that has similar effects to tear gas
Using a sharper knife and not a dull knife also helps. Kinda like our skin, onions membranes tear more when serrated or split with a more blunt object.
The reason people cry/tear up when cutting onions is quite fascinating actually, it's just sulfur from the onion getting in your eyes. Your body does have sulfur in it though and if you have a bit more than the average person you won't cry. If you want to prevent getting teary eyes you can suck on the tip of a match to increase the amount of sulfur in your body and as a result, you won't cry when cutting onions.

Been traveling with my pup out of my suv and filming our adventures over the past couple months. Definitely took inspiration from you.
In a space smaller than many closets, he has a level of comfort and even luxury.... shelter, good food.. entertainment... it clearly shows..it's not where you live, it's how you live.
The wisdom of simplicity. The luxury of efficiency.
Nothing better than getting a plate of food, sitting down at my computer and seeing a new Mav video is up.
Very glad I’ve come across this channel. You seem like a very down to earth humble human. Keep it up, keep being you!
I enjoy this guys content, he seems very chill and laid back, also very creative when venturing with his truck 👍🏽
These videos hit different when you in bed cozy with a blanket.
You’ve got me wanting to change my set up 😂 you’re videos are so awesome man. Thank you for inspiring so many of us to enjoy the little things in life. You are align amazing person Mav, keep up the good work. (Also you need to visit Maine…)
So glad we starting following along and watching your videos, Mav! These videos have gotten us into truck camping and it has been a great experience! 🤠
I love how you make everything look so relaxed and comfortable. I would love to get to that point. Ive always loved being out in it. Havent done it in far too long. Youre such an amazing inspiration. Thank you.
I love how positive and upbeat this guy is 👏
I love everything about this! I’ve never ever seen snow in my life in person (born and raised in California) it seems so relaxing! The video is so informative and well put together I enjoyed watching; you got a new subscriber!
Not sure if it gets any better than spending your time cooking, fishing, truck camping, and meeting friends, while being sponsored by solar generator and beef jerky companies. Thanks for the videos!
People cry when cutting onions because they are using a dull knife. Sharp knives stop the crying.
"Don't you just hate it when 'Bay Leaves'"....nice Dad joke
i love that he uses words like "yummy" "bussin" and "bruh". idk why i just enjoy it lol
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with different kind of setups and vehicule. It's a great deal of inspiration for my eventual built ! You're the guy ! Thanks Mav ! Ps. That's a freaking lot of thym dude 😳
Thoroughly enjoy when Mav loves something he cooks
This was a good one Mav! Fortnite in a truck is epic and I can't get over the new (hella spacious) layout. Keep 'em coming!
Started watching Mav more than a year ago maybe * and to see he got 1.2 million views on a video within recent days and has 1.6 million followers is insane. Plus alot of times you see ppl with 1 million subscribers but only like 50k views... But nahhh nearly every one of Mavs subs are loyal and follow every trip lol Great job Mav. Man this hard work definitely paid off.. Shit 10 grand would change my life and so for someone like Mav with good values ans such. Im sure this money has changed his for the better.
Get to work if you want 10k my man
Don’t you ever wonder that someone is looking at you from the outside. Since the light inside is on.
Right, I'd feel weird inside a camper like that at night with nothing covering the windows
I feel like gaming is something I’ve looked down on for so long, but I realized that it is one of the best stress relievers. It’s often correlated to being a loser, but it can be a life saver when your in bad place mentally.

just discovered you Mav and I noticed that you just do what you like and don't care what others think, u kinda don't follow the trends and do what you feel like doing, and I'm trying to be like you man, thank you 🙏
Just started watching this guys videos last night. And really inspired me to get back out there and go camping again. Thanks you’re a legend
Insane dude, so Jealous! My goal Is to get a setup with my wife one day.
The joy I get when I am graced with a Dance Gavin Dance song randomly in a video I've been recommended is beyond measure.
Hey Mav! Always wondered if you had a way to lock the tray whilst you’re sleeping in it? I just got a topper and am gonna try source a way to lock from the inside.
This would be my ideal thing to do if I ever get into truck or sprinter van camping... making sure I can play video games. There's another youtuber I follow who has a great setup for that.
This is such a vibe mav, you should do this more if you feel up to it I enjoyed this video 👍🏼 it would be cool to stream in your truck! Could you imagine
It’s rare for people not to cry when cutting onions. Like really rare
Mav, I was wondering, when cooking in your truck, does the smell stay? Love the content. Meal looks great!
Did he say FART-NITE 2:34
question: at night when you have the lights on in the back of the truck can people outside see you? Like when you can see inside houses at night who have their lights on? If so, do you feel like you’re in a fish bowl?
Maybe people can't see him because his Windows are tinted
The first time I've actually viewed an advert in a Channel,it really fits in,if only everyone's channel was this hooked up.

Can people see inside your truck while you are back there?
i believe the car has tinted windows ?
no they can't he has a cover for all windows and Incase sombody tries to come up the window and look in he also puts covers on all of the windows, and his windows are tinted.
Hey Mav, if you're looking for a better solution for using your switch on the go, the Genki covert dock is a good way to go
Pre-praid programming is NEXT LEVEL.
It's always these camping videos with the delicious food at 2am in the morning.
That bay leaves joke got me good😂

Currently 19, work at Amazon and living in my car that recently broke down on me, family is in another state and this man motivates me everyday to survive 🤌
So glad I found this channel it’s like an escape from reality 🙏🏽☺️
I just found this video and is super cool the way Mav reacts to everything. Never gets upset or curses…👍🏼
NW Fishing Secrets is another cool dude!
The only time I ever wanna watch these is very early in the morning when I try to go back to sleep or wanna feel cozy
